@ Jehova & Spock:
Spock, when do you expect to have Kirk ready for a fight?
Adn Jehova when do you expect to be able to toss up a rd 3 fight between Rolg and Kirk?
Basically, I'm not interested in seeing poor Ritti get rocked again, so if we're going to have another round of fights before Rolg is ready, I have another idea I'd like to try out instead.
Let me know.

I'm sorry, I can't really tell. The Macho vs Kirk fight is seeing day 9 now :(
If I win that one, I'd need some hours of work, I already started going through options. Is there a reference about how scribing spells under PFS rules work?
And can I direct a flaming sphere into squares I cannot see (like a pit ;P)?

Understandable. I guess, then that I'll work up my other level 2. If Kirk is finished and levelled up before the real arena kicks in, then Rolg will be ready for Kirk.
If not, then people will get to fight m'Shimu.

For what purpose? You get a number of spells for free for leveling up (if you're a magus or wizard). Other than that, you'd need to have the spells in scroll form to scribe them, right?
Or I guess there is the "Independent Research" option, but the gold expenditure seems a bit steep.
What information are you after specifically?

I don't have a clue. I can see where it says you need to be able to see your target to cast a spell there, but it doesn't mention maintaining a spell. All I can find is about the action required to maintain… not any other restrictions.
Interesting. Jehova?

Also, meet m'Shimu, my new level 2 arena fodder... er... combatant. :)
"Ssssssalutations, sssssuckers! Where do I sssssign to compete on the sssssands?"
There had to be a lot of words starting with the letter "S" in that sentence right? ;P
What information are you after specifically?
The cost of adding spells to my spellbook :)

Np, I'm just a little impatient about the outcome...

I think it is, Kirk is dying...
Here is another link to the fight if you want to see what happened

I think I'll start working on a Samsaran Kirk for the real arena, mystic past life is just way too broken to pass up. I just can't decide whether summoner or bard has the better early entries :)
Sheesh. Yep, that's pretty nice.
EDIT: so is summoner our most represented class in here? With dwarf being the most represented race?

Dwarves do seem the most prolific race. I didn't think we actually had many summoners though. Kailin and Inen are the only two I can think of?
Also, it actually feels like we've had a few monks. At least Aurum and Charan(?). I actually have a character who's not seen play yet, but is also a Monk.
Darkwolf117 |
Let's see... Off the top of my head I can think of:
1 Barbarian (maybe 2-ish?)
1 Bard
1 Druid? Or Ranger?
1 or 2 Fighters?
2 Monks
1 Rogue, I think
1 Wizard
2 Alchemists (both by me, unless I'm missing someone else's)
1 Cavalier (I think?)
1 Inquisitor (I think?)
2 Summoners
1 Witch
Along with at least 1 Magus and 1 Oracle, who are now out for being outsiders.
Mind, this is all taken from earlier fighters, level 5 ones, etc., and only the ones I strongly suspect I know. Ones that I'd need to highly speculate on aren't included (aside from the guessing included above).

Just did a search on Samsaran mystic past life. To be honest, as much as I would like to cast summon moster VII at level 9, I have to be fair about what I found (he's the one inventing mystic past life):
prototype00 wrote:While we're on the subject of the Samsaran alternate racial ability, is there anything stopping them from taking a spell that is already on their spell list but is present on another's spell list at lower level? (Say a wizard with haste at lvl 3 takes the lvl 2 version of it from the summoner.) The wording of the ability doesn't seem to forbid it, but a lot of people seem to have a problem with it.
Cheers,

This is a perfectly legal option. A samsaran wizard could indeed take the bard's 3rd level version of confusion as a spell. He'd get it at a lower level, but he'd also get the lower save DC associated with it being a lower level.
It's interesting you mention the summoner, though—in that case I would NOT allow it. The summoner's spell list is FAR too permissive in a lot of cases there regarding what spells it gets at lower levels, such as haste or teleport. In my games, of course, this problem is solved by the fact that I don't allow summoners in my game.

I think we could argue about what it takes for something to earn the label "broken" (heck, i think most people have different definitions of broken altogether), but I think it's fairly obvious that it gives a class that is generally agreed as the most powerful and flexible on the game and gives them access to even more class resources.
But JJ's point about saves being lower is a good one, if slightly not the point.
Darkwolf117 |
Funny, I don't find Mystic Past Life to be all that broken (then again, I think of it mostly for getting things that aren't on your spell list, not for getting spells at a lower level).
But, considering you're getting, at most, 5 specific spells from other lists, you're either getting low level ones where they aren't a huge difference, or high level ones, where you're still waiting a fairly long while before you get access to them.
In the case of discounted ones, it's nice, I admit, but such as your SMVIII example, at earliest you'll be picking that up at level 11 as a wizard, and getting a CR 11 critter, which is still subject to the usual Dismissal or Protection from X, and the spell is still a 1 round casting time. And, while I haven't really looked, I can't think of anything that's a larger change in level than that one.

That sounds accurate for Kailin's record. I also believe we're done with this round of matches. Anyone who hasn't done so, please update me with your gear changes. I probably shouldn't have thrown Shova in quite yet (he mentioned he'd be busy) but since it wont hurt his VP or Budget, we'll carry on. Can I also have a sound off from currently available people to prevent further no-shows?
