I just noticed I'm a bit out of sync with everyone. Do you all mind terribly if I post in the past tense it is considerably more comfortable, but I don't want the mess up the flow of things for the rest of you.
Not a problem for me

HK-47 was a whole bundle of attitude in a Droid. An awesome character developed there. Though, after a while, he does get really annoying. The little trick where you swap out his personality motivator thingy and give him the canaptions was a very funny scene.
Nope, I am definitely not going to be trying to post in such a style for Smith.

Meh, before long I was using a party full of Jedi anyway. I mean really what chance did a bajillions sith mooks stand against 4 jedi? Slim to none? I just wish they all didn't get so butthurt when I went full on Sith Lord mode.

I was referring to Smith's ability to deal out large amounts of damage in a short span of time. AKA - he's more of a machine gun than a sword.
Well we haven't really seen him in action yet....

Considering his build and his brief action against the wolves, that's my take....

Concerning Research - You cannot take a 20 when making Knowledge rolls, as there is a chance you will fail and draw an incorrect conclusion. From the Core book, pg 100:
Action: Usually none. In most cases, a Knowledge check
doesn’t take an action (but see “Untrained,” below).
Try Again: No. The check represents what you know, and
thinking about a topic a second time doesn’t let you know
something that you never learned in the first place.
Untrained: You cannot make an untrained Knowledge
check with a DC higher than 10. If you have access to an
extensive library that covers a specific skill, this limit
is removed. The time to make checks using a library,
however, increases to 1d4 hours. Particularly complete
libraries might even grant a bonus on Knowledge checks in
the fields that they cover.
You can take still take a 10 while researching. I'm going to rule this represents the 1d4 hours you'd spend carefully researching.
If you're in the Unfurling Scroll, you can make two rolls at a +2. These can be the same skill or two different skills.
ALSO - Someone needs to pay the man!!
If you're in the Temple of Pharasma, you can make two skill rolls at +4. These can be the same skill or two different skills.
Madeline - you need to use one of your Knowledge rolls. Perception will not work in this instance.
Creel - you can attempt to use Diplomacy with the owner of the Unfurling Scroll, but only after the man allows each of you entrance - which he won't do until someone pays him.
Heinrich - you cannot take a 20, as there is a chance you could draw an incorrect assumption. Take a 10 or roll.
Suggested skills - Knowledge [Arcana], Knowledge [History], Knowledge [Religion], Knowledge [local], and Diplomacy (to gather information).

Except I'm not making a Knowledge check, I'm making a Perception check to see what magic goodies he has on his shelves :)
I don't assume he levies the 10GP charge for "shopping".
Creel |
Ok. I'm confused. So it is 10gp to walk into the shop? I suppose that keeps out the riff-raff.
Besides my skills pale in comparison to some of the others and as I can only afford 2 days of research. It is better for me to fund one of the scholars who have a chance of actually getting results before our funds dry up.

I could have sworn, this morning, that was a Knowledge [Arcana] roll. It was 2:30 AM locally, however, and I have misread things before. My bad.

I think TRGM meant entrance into the shop's inner library, not the outer store itself where shopping can occur? Although I admit I was a bit confused why we couldn't use Diplomacy on him in the outer store?
Right now, 10GP is a fortune to Heinrich. I started with a club instead of a dagger for my melee weapon because it was free versus a few gold!
AsmodeusUltima |
Hehe, yep, and I gave away my last few gold cause I'm a sucker. :P May I just say that I love the fact that research is a big part of this adventure? It totally validates my concept, even if I will likely get eaten by a grue once combat starts. (See The Gamers 2: Dorkness Rising for what I suspect will happen.)

I have to admit I am at a little of a loss as to what to do. Should I just assume that an acolyte will take me to the gravesite. I don't want to just commandeer an NPC. I kind of feel a little like I was written out of the scene before I had a chance to interact, to many interactions were laid out to roll things back a bit, and I don't want to make too many assumptions about the actions of NPC's.
Rendel Bladetwist |
Sorry about that, just really don't know what to do or make with you at the moment. Heinrich kind of dominated the scene there and Rendel had to drag Vaughn away almost kicking and screaming to make the appointment we were very lucky to manage. Being a complete stranger Rendel didn't think the priest would take kindly to you digging through church records. That and we did promise to take you to the grave. So it seems more respectful to Dortlin to at least allow him the service of an acolyte to show him the proper grave rather than have him sit around twddling his thumbs at the temple fo pharasma for 8 hours.

General warning to all my games.
I will be out of touch for a week as I will be going to a place with no internet connection. This is a drive I do not wnat to make, with people I don't like, to stay with them for a week in a place I dont want to go for a time I cannot financially afford. If you do not hear from me in a week check the news for a mass murder. That is all.

That does sound horrible. Is there any way you can accuse them all of Witchcraft, back out, and hide from them for the rest of the summer?
Creel |
Okay, what's everyone doing?
I know Rendel is off the radar for a week or so.
Madeline - where to next?
Creel - where to next?
Heinrich - where to next?
Dortlin - you staying with Vaghn or moving on?
Vaghn - studying for 8 hours?
Heading to the general store. Both for the gossip, like i said, and to see if there is gear I want that might be within my pricerange. :7)

Hey all,
Sorry I haven't updated. I lost my DSL over the weekend (someone cut a line) and it's just been fixed. I'll update for all early Monday morning.
No troubles, but thanks for the notice.

Guess who's level 3 before his son and makes awesome lines while smashing evil's face in with a fist of holy justice?
MEEEEEE!!!
But dad we're playing a different kind of game. We roleplay more, we investigate, we ahve drama, and slower pacing. It's not about the EXP and cheesy action lines.

Uh huh. You go back to your World of Darkness game son. I have goblins to smash and your mother to knock up.
For victory! For the heart!
