I am abstaining this time around. I've had two birthdays and one burial this last week in my close family and had no time to look at any of them closer, nor currently the will or energy to do so. I trust the lot of you to make a good and sensible decision on the matter.
One thing Dirissa said: I did not do so last time I recruited, but if I ever do add another game to my schedule, I'll probably give preference to people who also GM themselves as a tie-breaker.
I know not everybody has the time or capability for it, but they are who make all of this pbp-play possible in the first place, so it's a nod of acknowledgement in their direction(obviously, they still need a solid submission).

DM Nex |

@Basil - wow.. things get busy don’t they.
Sounds good all. I am going to let the last ones trickle in, and make a final deciding factor. I am leaning toward those two, but might alter. Good idea to look if any GM. I dug a bit and none seem to have any active GMing. But I need to check for real and read over all the full submissions fully.
Hopefully we will have someone ready to go by Monday. If you all head back into town we can do the character swap.

DM Nex |

Welcome Tiras! We are going to finish up the floor of the dungeon they are in, then likely head into town. Shouldn't be too long.
I don't think it will be difficult to bring you (and the other new person) in. Fill out your alias in the meantime. But I bet in a few days we will get you in.
Thanks for joining us!

Varilien Dorianathi |

Hello everyone! Excited to join you all on this AP. :)

DM Nex |

If you could put your main stat block. Like what you posted on the Recruitment. Its always handy if I need to check on something. Makes life a bit easier.
@Varillien - Same! We should get you in soon. Could you put some info in your Classes/Level text field. Like HP, AC, Saves, etc. That would be great.

Varilien Dorianathi |

Sure thing - they should all be there now. I may play around with formatting to cut down on the amount of information shown, but all the useful info will be there.

DM Nex |

Hmm when I click on your profile it is still empty, other than what you put in your Class/Level field. That stuff shows up under your name on the posts. But your profile is still empty.
Its not the end of the world, but when you can. I think it all goes into Edit Profile then "About Tiras Silverblood" You can just paste in all your crunch there.

DM Nex |

You have been working to bring down the Technic League for awhile. You have heard rumors of a local individual who might be connected to the League. Sanvil Trett. A merchant in the town of Torch. You have taken it upon yourself to take care of this man.
Also hearing about the Torch going out, you made your way to town. First stop was the Brigh temple. You gathered some information there from the friendly clerics. They informed you of Khonnir and the expeditions into the caves below the town. He is currently being taken care of in the temple. His brain seems to keep being deteriorated. All of the castings by the clerics are just keeping him aware. He is able to talk, but otherwise is stuck at the temple.
You should be there talking to him when the others arrive.
Hearing about the torch going out and the people who have ventured into the cave system. A few rumors of strange robots have reached your ears. Ever eager to learn about them, and destroy them when necessary, you make your way to Torch.
You do know of a fellow wizard in the town, Khonner. You also know he has some information about the caves below. You decide to head to meet up with Khonner.
When you arrive there, you find out he has just recently been found after being trapped. He is being taken care of at the temple. You head there to touch bases with him, since he seems to be a local expert.
You are likely going to bump into the others right around the same time.
So yeah.. When everyone exists the cave we will all check in on Khonner and he will have suddenly gained 2 new friends who are plying him for information.
Kell - I think he will likly want to work with Khonner on identifying various items you have all found. Not much for adventuring he is going to try to be a bit more bookish and maybe help behind the scenes.
Harg - Hmm he wants the torch lit, but his sword is going to convince him he needs to leave and go on another quest elsewhere.. Where? WHO KNOWS

@Only gun out: A Cestus is basically a glove. - it gives a penalty on precision-based tasks like opening locks, but allows a weapon to be wielded in that hand.
Since I wear it on the hand stabilizing the weapon(at least until such time as I can "updowngrade" into a dragon pistol), it's easy to take ithat hand off the weapon when not firing or reloading, and allow me to threaten (+an AoO) in melee, then, if the danger is taken care of, re-grip the weapon and resume firing.

Keldor Whisthawk |

OK,
Time to divide the treasure?
Flashlight - Price 30 gp; Slot none; Weight 1 lb.; Capacity 10; Usage 1 charge/8 hours
(Dirissa? Gauntlet gives me Darkvision.)
3 things that look like silverdisks, but somehow different.
(We will have to get Khonnir to look at these first...)
Grenades
2x Bang Grenade
1x Flash Grenade
1x Soft Grenade
(Keldor is not really interested in these...As Basil put it, they are tech versions of Alchemical bombs. Nothing unique enough for his interest.)
Neraplast Armor - Fully charged
(This is the interesting one. I think any of us could use it. Who wants it? I ahve Gauntlet, so any other armor I have is secondary at best. I can really see Dirissa taking this if it fits to size.)
A small gun type object
(If its a gun-like object, then I think Basil should get first dibs since she's the gunslinger. Once we know what it can do of course...)
And 26 silver disks.
(Divide evenly...among those who are staying?? Or the total group??)

@New GM: Just bringing to your attention that Basil still has the alteration from drinking the torch fountain juice in the beginning of the campaign.
+2 Natural Armor, -2 Dex, from the mesh field. It was not a permanent alteration if I remember correctly, but I wonder if it's timed/will wear off by itself eventually, or I'll need to get it checked by the temple at an opportune time.
I suppose it's now your call to make :) Just figured I'll point out there is a long-term ongoing effect active.

DM Nex |

AH! Thank you. Still feel like I am play catch-up! I start a new job Friday and things have been a bit crazy.
Anyway..
Looks like that effect of the Numerian Fluids lasts for 1d4 months before the "extra" skin sluffs off. I am not sure if old GM was keeping track of days.. Lets say it will stay in place till the end of this "book". I will do my best to remember, but you will know when we are done with this arc.
Did anyone else drink the fluids?
Harg joined late and I have not had a chance to read through all the old posts.

Basil NaN |

Nope, only I did. It's only been a couple days since the start, no worries there. I just wasn't sure the origin of my ongoing effect was clear and wanted to bring it to your attention.

Varilien Dorianathi |

I'm in, posted in the roll20 chat.

Varilien Dorianathi |

No problem. Get everything in order first!

Basil NaN |

I may have to drop out of this game, guys. I'm involved in a lot of online communities, and I would sometimes rather dedicate time to those rather than to this game. Hope you're understanding about this.
I have to admit, initially it was a bit hard to grasp for me. You have...8 posts, 4 in discussion(one of them a dot), 4 in gameplay.
Were you not involved with those online communities when you applied to the game a month ago? Or did not look into what to expect from the game - does it take too much time? Expected a different welcome? There's no reason to try and force someone to stay that does not want to stay, but I am wondering if there's any problems that could be addressed.
And I admit I am feeling a bit sad for the other applicants in the re-recruitment who did not get a spot.
But then I saw that indeed, your account is new, and it may have been your first contact with play-by-post games, and their pacing. If that is not for you, then there's little that can be done about that, except wish you luck in those other communities and thank you for putting in effort in creating your character and trying.

DM Nex |

I have to agree with Basil on this.. It is a bit frustrating to have this wiplash. I liked the character concept, but they have been somewhat MIA for awhile. I guess I just have to understand.
I could PM some of the other applicants and see if they want to join.
Sorry, I feel like I must have picked wrong. Still. There are 4 of you now, it is not impossible to play with just 4.
Shall we go with just 4? Should I pick someone in the previous post to PM? I can always invite directly from one of my other games.. Etc.
I am mostly frustrated that he did it in the gameplay thread...

Basil NaN |

I would suggest PM'ing the other applicants, one after another by an order that is chosen by you. Give each a few days to reply, then move on to the next if "no" or no reply, the first one that says yes within the allotted timespan is in.
Meanwhile, we continue with 4 and simply replace the person in our memory, not like they did something particularly memorable so far. If nobody is still interested, we stick with the 4 for now - but I'm confident ONE of them will still be willing to give it a go.

DM Nex |

Yeah.. I have some work to do today, but I will go through my notes and get a feel for which characters I liked the most.
Again, sorry all.
edit: I PMed my 1st alternate. He also happens to be a player in my other game. He is a good player and very studious about profile and posting. So I think he will fit well. Will see what he thinks.

Do what you think is best! As long as we can keep going, I will play if its' just me. I've been dying to play this AP for so long now...

Same! I'm fine with moving on w/ 4 for now and picking up a 5th when/if someone responds with a "yes, I'm in."

Thawm Uhturj |

"yes, I'm in."
Also, hi :D
Also, it's true, sometimes I check the boards entirely too many times in a single day xD
For better or for worse, I noticed the PM just before heading out again xD

DM Nex |

Hey all. I invited Thawm to play. They are in another game of mine and a good player. One of the original that submitted. And the next in line. I am pretty sure she will make a good addition!
Thanks for joining up Thawm! We are just about to go into a warehouse. Feel free to read up on old posts. I am going to make you a token and get you added to roll20.
Everyone: Are we ok with just throwing her into the mix. Just replacing the lost member with her and calling it. We can RP a bit later, but it will keep the flow going for now without having to explain much.
Thawn I will give you a reason to be there. More than likely you will be there to see the wizard who everyone already rescued. So you are likely just there to help out and learn. Being a follower of Nythes you likely want to know the deal with magic and technology. Feel free to flesh out more as we go along. We are all just trying to get back into the groove of this game after so many loses and whiplash.

Basil NaN |

Aye, we RP later and talk a bit more, for now, lets simply assume she is the guy that left and basic introductions are done while we know nothing about each other.
As in, out with the old, in with the new, and nobody in-game noticed someone was swapped out. Except maybe Basil who might have a Deja-Vu or something while the local Matrix reloads.
Also, welcome, Thawm!

Thawm Uhturj |

Thanks ^^
BTW, I was thinking of tinkering with the crunch just a bit, maybe dropping Additional Traits to get the Technologist feat early or grabbing Craft Wondrous Item @ 3rd or something xD
Especially since I found a proper class feature (knowledge domain) to replace the annoying linguistics-skill-enhancing trait I grabbed originally...
(You know, if DM Nex doesn't mind swapping out that feat and maaaybe a couple of skill points)
Also RP wise, you got the right feel for my character, Thawm wants to know ALL THE THINGS and people who hoard secret knowledge (that isn't particularly dangerous) are obviously up to no good xD
fluff-wise quite a bit of overlap with the guy who submitted the worshipper of Brigh.
That reminds me, anyone else planning on using the Technologist feat? 'cause I mostly wanted it to work with Knowledge (Engineering), with maybe a rank or a few ranks in Craft (Mechanical), but I could get Disable Device too, if we don't have anyone...

Keldor Whisthawk |

So you are a conjuror? You do realize...I'm a Summoner. Right?
=)
No sweat! Just kidding!
Keldor is more of an Iron Man themed do-gooder, and his Eidolon is Technology themed too.
I don't have the Technologist feat yet, but I have the campaign trait that allows me to simulate it a bit. I was planning on taking it eventually.
Even considered taking on the Technomancer prestige class eventually if the role-playing works out for it...
AND I can summon other stuff sometimes too. Hasn't happened yet.
=)
