Thallan claps the bigger man on the shoulder. The force neither hard nor soft.
Yuki gives a curtsey to the man and a slight bow
"Your captain johnson knows me. Or I hope he does, I was very young when he first met me. But if you take me to him, im sure he will remember me, its been a few years ago, I was very young. But im sure if I refresh his memory he will remember!" she gives an honost smile to them

Jik eyes the little girl a bit suspiciously, "I tend agree with Lupic...we need to know each other, trust each other, our lives will eventually be at stake." He looks at Yuki, "There is a lot of unknown in the universe, my comrades should not be one of them."
"I have no problem with that" she starts walking to where they indicated

Johnson is surprised by the presence of the enthusiastic young lady and upon hearing her wild story he replies mildly, "Lass I've got a good memory for faces, and I don't believe we've met."
Its clear he doesn't believe her, but he isn't overly bothered. Having being a recruiting sergeant for a while, he's familar with teenagers itching to get away from home...
"Lass if our employer is expecting you then of course you can come along, but I should caution that there's likely to be rather more work than excitement... You'll be expected to help with camp chores too like everyone else."
Qh"oh no sir. Not me. Way to young, I was around maybe 6 if I remember what my dad said. You might have met my father. Sato."
She gives a salute
"my dad had many roles when he was young, one was military, he trained me well! Sir!"

Nodding, Johnson says, "So he did. Well sorry to dissapoint you but this is a civilian venture. Of course there's less likely to be pleanty of work for willing hands, you know carrying heavy equipment to the site, mining, digging lattrine ditches, painstakingly sifting through archeological digs, camp chores and the like."
The girls smiles broadly

"I still say we need to see if the patron wanted her around. We shouldn't be picking up any waif that wonders by. "
Oh come now, don't call me that, just trying to help! It looks like you need all the help and talent you can get! she smiles at him
"I don't know who you are nor do I know that you want to help. Truth be told I know little enough of any of these people, but I at least know they were sought out by my employer for a reason. "
"Coffee...you are a wise man." the wizard chuckles, "I'm sure I can increase your hauling ability, like an ant that carry many time's it's body weight."
He smiles at Bellis, "So what is your," he places a finger over his lips thinking of the proper words, "trade or special skills?" He asks inquisitively.
Bellis nervously shies away again. "Um, I heal people, an... sometimesblowthemup...." she begins to regain her confidence. "I used to work in a golem shop, so I have a lot of experience getting around to people in need in dangerous situations."
To Yuki. Young lady, would you come on as my assistant? Perhaps that could satisfy everyone.
"Oh goody, maybe I can go and pick up some strays as well. " and he gives up and grumps off.
She nods "That sounds good"
A flash of anger is seen on the girls face, then hides it with a smile
"Not all strays are bad!"
Johnson keeps his own council over that exchange and wonders exactly how much trouble this group is going to be...
It'll be better once we're on the road, it was always like this with a new squad. Once everyone has figured out their place in it all, things will settle down. Besides shared danger has a funny way of even the most difficult recruits together. Danger, theres something to think on. The old Dwarven lady is expecting trouble judging by those she hired. An expedition delving into ruins so old even the dwarves scarce remember is no small undertaking!

The wizard chuckles, "I tend to set them on fire. I'm Jik, glad to meet you."
Again Johnson finds something to study rather than stare at the develish man.
Set people on fire?! Why am I not surprised... Never was comfortable around mages, even ones that are not self confessed pyromaniacs, still mages aren't always comfortable with me. No one is. Not when there's been an episode.
The wizard twirls his umbrella spinning it on his left shoulder. "So, are we all here when are we departing? Is your new apprentice coming along Thallan is she going to be your acolyte ?" His yes move to Capt Johnson. "So where did you do your time in the military? Which conflict or war were you part of."
Thallan nods.
Yuki will be accompanying us, from my understanding. Though her academic and spiritual paths are hers to choose. As my assistant, she will help me with organization. And I'll vouch for her by way being responsible for her actions.
She seems a smart individual, willing and capable. Now, where is that old man... Yamato, was it? The elf looks up from fussing with his pack.
Johnson shrugs slightly, and starts off in a matter of fact tone saying, "I spent several years in an honorable mercenary company called Clarts. We where on contract for several of the cities far to the west. Peace keeping mostly, patrolling the trade roads, keeping the citizenry safe. Several border skirmishes that first year but nothing major. Second year was worse, the border skirmishes got out of hand and soon there was full scale war. The city we where contracted to that year had placed userous taxes to fund it all and predictably there was an uprising. They wanted us to put it down, bloodily. Our commander balked, that's not what Clarts is about, so we up and left, of course then it all went to hell."
By now he's reliving painful memories and continues in a choked voice, "We had to retreat across hundred of leagues of hostile territory and were ambushed many times. At three pines, the fighting got particularly ugly. The enemy had a summoner, the day went badly."
Almost in a whisper he stammers, "Somehow I'm still alive..."
He breaks eye contact and walks away briefly, surrounded by painful memories.
Jik wakes towards the hostess and her mule. "If you have a cart that would nice for the gear we have."
