S'karu, you're right, the spell would fail. However that wouldn't change the thug's actions, so not much changes.
The remaining thug and the ghoul fall to to your assault. A couple ysoki soon arrive. "Oh thank you! These people just showed up waving guns around and she started rooting around muttering about skulls. She seemed ill or something." One of them holds out a small sack full of plant bulbs. "We don't have much, but here's something. They're good for absorbing poisons, seems you might run into that sort of thing."
The thugs have some batteries, and Exegara has a datapad on her with a recent file. Sell the items for funds, and obtain the needed repair components. Return to these Drift coordinates once you have them. The coordinates refer to a damaged vessel, the Endless Threnody, damaged and stuck in the Drift.

The lashunta easily bypasses the datapad's password protection.
"Interesting... it looks light the Corpse Fleet ship was crippled by a pirate vessel known as the Lawblight..."
Taugortavol
|
"You are most welcome little Ysoki, and your gift is appreciated." says Taugortavol with a slight bow.
He then turns to the rest of the group and his face looks more serious.
"The more i hear about this situation the more i dislike about it. Corpse fleet indeed! Sounds like they got what they deserved!"

Bonra considers if he knows anything about the ship but frowns.
"I don't like pirates, but in this case, maybe they made our job easier for us. We should get to this Endless Threnody and see if they have more information about our missing people." He thumps his tail on ground eagerly.
"And if we have to knock this Lawblight out of the drift in the meantime, that's a bonus."

I'm spending 2 RP, one to stabilize and the second to regain consciousness with 1 HP, after that, I cast Mystic cure on myself.
healing: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
"That would not have been a satisfying end to that tale" the Kasatha mutters, after he has used the mystical energies of the universe to heal himself. Luckily the fight has already ended and his companions have already been greeted by a group of Ysoki. S'karu steps to the others, crosses both his pairs of arms over his torso and bows to the others.
"I apologize for failing you in this combat and hope to prove myself worthy next time."
Then as if nothing had happened he rises up and reacts to Bonrakuros suggestion.
"I agree with you, we should make haste to find that ship, and learn more about our lost colleagues."
Bonrakoru
|
"I doubt we'll have to track down Lawblight. If Endless Threnody is floating in it's territory, I'm sure they'll attack us too. We should keep our eyes peeled."
Bonra starts to head back to the Lorespire, to see if he can obtain a ship for the group.

After quickly making sure that Scouty is in good condition after the fight, reloading its ammunition and picking a few stray leaves from its chassis, Askara follows Bonraku back towards the Lorespire.
You did not fail us, S'karu. You live, we live, and our opponents were defeated. That is a victory, and one you contributed to.

Venture-Captain Arvin answers. "You got the insignias? Excellent. Any sign of our people? Meet me me at the Arm as soon as possible. And keep hold of those insignias. They have a secret data storage function, handy for smuggling info in and out of places. Might come in handy."
The Arms are the docks that ring Absalom Station. Heading to the given location, Venture-Captain Arvin stands next to the entry ramp of a sleek-looking starship. He waves his hands over the side of the starship affectionately. “This is the Loreseeker, a Pegasus-class ship that’s one of the fastest and lightest in the Society’s fleet."
“We know that a lost Starfinder vessel, the Unbounded Wayfarer, was discovered by undead creatures from a starship called the Endless Threnody. We’ve pulled some strings with our more reputable Eoxian contacts to get more information, but they’ve disavowed knowledge of the Endless Threnody entirely; this likely confirms our suspicions that the Endless Threnody is connected with the Corpse Fleet, a group of Eoxian separatists who refuse to work alongside the living."
“We have the location of the Endless Threnody in the Drift, courtesy of that ghoul you tracked down. Its Drift engine is incapacitated, so it’s unable to escape the Drift. Take the Loreseeker into the Drift, cripple the Eoxian ship—as a Corpse Fleet vessel, they won’t be open to negotiations—and recover the location of the lost Starfinder vessel.”

"The Corpse Fleet, bah!" Bonra says with disgust. "All they want to do is enslave the living or kill them. Don't even have air in their ships." He clenches his fist angrily and heads into the Loreseeker. "Just give me the chance and I'd gun down everyone of them!"
He growls as he looks through the ship. "Speaking of guns...I'll man the turret if no one else wants to. Which one of you can fly this baby?"
Bonra's only use in Starship combat is as a gunner, so I figure that's what I'll do.
Taugortavol
|
"Bonraku you voiced my feelings better than even i could do." says Taugortavol with a snarl.
"When it comes to ships, my piloting skills aren't too bad. I'm also confident that my skill with guns should make me a competent at using the big guns too."
S'karu
|
"I have not much experience with starships, an I don't know too much about the technical stuff, so it might better if I am doing the communications."
seems like the captain's role is the only one where I can even try to be helpful especially as I think about to amp up the social skills in the future. But as it doesn't feel right for S'karu to call himself captain let's better go with communications officer ;D

After 18 days of travel through the multicolored emptiness of the Drift, you have arrived at the coordinates taken from Exegara's datapad. No freighter is in evidence, and Riker starts scanning for its location. The scanners chirp as the freighter is pinpointed.
The Eoxian freighter is a massive vessel made of bone and steel. The front of the ship is a single enormous red lens, appearing as a sullen, bloody eye. The ship bristles with bone protrusions, as though it were some horned, skeletal beast. Some of the bones are charred and broken, indicating past battle damage. Laser cannons protrude from the front and sides of the freighter; but its rear weapon mounts are a twisted wreck. Gaps between the bones show the ship’s interior, but this is not from battle damage—this ship was never intended to accommodate living creatures.
Riker, make a Computers check with the ship's +2 bonus to see how quickly you locate the enemy. You are currently 19 hexes apart, I'll get the map updated tonight.

Since Riker beat the Eoxian's Computers check, you get to choose the ships' facings. I'm assuming you want to be coming up behind them. You also note the damage suffered by the Lawblight's attack.
The comms crackle to life as a lifeless voice echoes from the speakers. "Good of you to bring the skulls we needed! Prepare to face the void!"
Engineering Phase
The Threnody's captain attempts a Taunt action, targeting the Gunnery Phase.
Taunt, DC 19: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Duration: 1d4 ⇒ 2
All of your checks during the Gunnery Phase get a -2 penalty, -4 if the action is a push.
The engineers begin diverting power to the engines.
Divert, DC 14: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
The Threnody's speed is increased by 2.
Take whatever Engineering actions you want. It sounds like Taugortavol is the Helmsman, so I'll roll Piloting for him to keep the wait down.

Undead Piloting: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Also with the Good Manuverability the Pilot gets a +1 to piloting so Taugs roll should be a +8 from now on.

I don't see anything that we're high enough level for. You can always pull up a gunner seat' we have three weapons but I'm the only gunner so far.
Taugortavol

Well with the Helm roll off i guess we're moving first. The ship was between 3 hexes so i've moved it to the edge of the map before we start moving.
"That thing looks very damaged at the rear. I'll try to get us round the back of it if we can. Time for some fancy flying to give their targeting computers a hard time!" says Taugortavol as he punches in some commands at the helm.
Piloting to evade (DC14): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
I'll move the ship but show the path taken so we can all keep track of where we're going. I moved us forward 8 spaces as we have a long range turret which can potentially out range the enemy ship.

Riker, we can use that roll for next round, but as the phases go in a strict order from Engineering, Helm, Gunnery, you won't be able to fix it this round. Scanning the enemy ship wouldn't hurt as a first round action.
To clarify, it'll go
Round 1 Engineering
Round 1 Helm (these first two are when you would go)
Round 1 Gunnery (which is when the ship was hit)
Round 2 Engineering (now you'd fix the ship)

HP 90/100, Shields 0, PCU 150

Light laser cannon; 2d4 short range, port
Askara and S'karu work the other weapons station and fire the forward light laser cannon at the undead ship. The beam barely misses the rogue Eoxian ship.
