Reza's sword and shield are an iron wall against any attack. When Durandel points towards the spider, he swings the blade and shield into a ready stance to deal with it.

5 foot step and attack with rapier.

Rapier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Sure, it counts as flat-footed. It's obviously not a crit, but as a reminder, sneak attack doesn't get doubled if it were.
I'll wait a bit longer to see if Lyriah posts first.

Lyriah will attempt to take a five foot step back, so she doesn’t get attacked, then let loose an arrow at the foul creature.

Lyriah correctly identifies the creature as a spider, then stumbles into the bunk behind her and shoots wide.

Durandel steps in and pokes the spider, and the creature oozes ichor.

The spider springs to the wall over Reza, and its mandibles click together rapidly as it lunges!

Lyriah rolls her eyes. “Stop, you’re frightening the women.” She says, her voice dripping with sarcasm and condescension.

Tariq moves forward 10' and casts Guidance on Durandel

Reza swings at the spider, growling under his breath.

"I. Really. Don't. Like. Spiders!"

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Reza strikes the spider where Durandel cracked its carapace, and the creature falls from the wall with its legs curled up.

Novid crawls out from under the bunk, covered in mold and dust bunnies.

Speaking distractedly, Lyriah begins to search the area, “We should search the area for a nest or egg sack, and make sure there aren't more. Then perhaps we should finish this area off before we head down stairs.”

"Agreed." Reza takes his torch, and begins systematically hunting for the nest.

"Last thing we need is another one of these following us down the stairs."

“Not afraid of a little bug, are you?” Lyriah intoned the words while she worked the mandibles of the dead spider, using its corpse as a puppet, until she realized that she got some of its blood and ichor on her hands, then she quickly dropped the creature as a shutter of repulsion worked it’s way through her body. Dead things had never bothered her, it couldn’t if she wanted to be a mage, but bodily fluids always gave her the heebiejeebies. Her face reddened from the embarrassment of her joke backfiring, but she still gave a weak smile to her brother.

"Little?" Reza asks, glancing at Lyriah out of the corner of his eye. "That was not..." he sees the mandibles, and shudders. "Not. Little." He begins looking around for anything else useful in the room, before preparing to head down the stairs.
