GM Niles |

I dunno, wanna venture into the tower with all the webs in search of a wounded and vengeful spider, to see?

Hecktor |

Hecktor looks at his leg, having forgotten about that for a bit.
"Yes, well, it looks worse than it is. Though i won't be using this leg for kicking down doors for a while."
He takes a breather. He turns around towards the others.
"That was more than i expected to find. Since that thing went back in there, it'd be bad to just rush in. I didn't see it connecting to any other part of the ruins other than the broken wall. If there are any items of worth inside that tower, we could "smoke" the spider out. But that is if everybody is up for the 2nd round. Suffice to say, that could be done after we explore the ruins."
Hecktor sits down, taking a the piece of cloth from his pack. He pours a little alcohol on it and begins cleaning the wound.

Silas Hawkwinter |

Unless somebody wants to pursue the spider I think we should search the current location. Can you describe what we see? Is there a chest?

GM Niles |

Thick webs cover much of the ancient crates
and barrels stored inside the base of the tower.
A rickety wooden staircase ascends along one
wall to reach an open trapdoor above.
There isn't much to see inside just a bunch of broken crates and barrels. You could venture inside the bottom as the webbing isn't too bad, but going up means going through webs and that's also where the spider went.

Silas Hawkwinter |

"I hoping we can find what we need and leave, no sense in risking our necks chasing down wounded animals, especially vicious ones like that. I doubt it will attack us again unless we leave it no option."
Silas examines the wreckage in the small tower floor, "I can't see anything of value in here, lets try another way?"
Lets try room 3 or 11?

Silas Hawkwinter |

"Who knows, maybe Iomedae will provide for a reckoning..."
Summoning light is a good idea, the rest of the monestry looks dark, I'll do that too on my armour.
Silas hums a tune that provides a little light.

GM Niles |

ok 50% chance of either door: 1d2 ⇒ 2
4. Entry Hall
Beyond the double doors is a small dark hall.
Littered with mounds of debris and a year’s
worth of dead leaves, it is clear that a narrow
path winds inside.
There are three possible choices for movement.
A door to the North, a door to the South and some semi open double doors to the west.
Gared walks into the room and mentions that a bunch of wolf prints head north. I've marked the trail on the MAP LOCATED HERE
justa reminder, Hecktor is hurting pretty badly.

Silas Hawkwinter |

"I do hope the many rumors of Lycanthropes are overblown and these tracks are for normal wolves!", says Silas with a slightly wistful voice.
Perhaps an encounter with lycanthropes would make for a good story...
I take it there's no evidence of any mushrooms we can see so far?
"I can't see any mushrooms so far, I guess we shall have to explore fully, and following this trail seems as likely as any other direction. Maybe the wolves attacked that fellow instead of the spider, and their lair may yield some clues as to why he was here?", speculates Silas.

GM Niles |

Gared answers that these wolves seem normal sized not any bigger or smaller than usual.
No, no sign of mushrooms.
I've updated Hecktor's hp on the map he is 10/12 and feeling much better now thank you.

Lucanor |

Lucanor nods and heads north, he pauses now and then to look about with his light tipped sword. "If some sort of wolf is getting around here, I suppose there's little chance of any advanced traps or it would have been snagged by them, but still."
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
If it's alright, and to speed things up, please assume Luc checks every door they come to for traps or locks and feel free to roll Disable Device for it, GM. If it's not alright, that's okay too. I don't mean to create more work, I just figure it might hurry the pace
If no traps or locks are found, he moves on.

Silas Hawkwinter |

Silas follows a short way behind Lucanor with his bow ready, and pauses momentarily to listen for any noises or other tell tail signs of activity from the rooms adjacent to the northern passage.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Gared the Ranger |

Are the wolf tracks connected to Gared's feat, Niles?
Gared has remained reasonably stoic during the exporation of the monastery so far. He seems to ruminate on the footprints for a while.
"We should be careful," Gared says suddenly, "It appears this monastery isn't as empty as it should be."
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

GM Niles |

@ Lucanor I'll roll em for ya. The perception roll will stand until the next encounter.
@ Gared Yes.
Ok, moving along nicely now.
You enter the longer Hallway labeled 11 on the map.
This long hallway ends with a ruined dwarven statue. Smashed long ago, the statue is barely recognizable as a dwarven monk. His stone hammer sits on the ground next to the shattered remains of his head.
Lucanor you come to two doors located along the northern wall of the hallway.
Gared mentions that wolf tracks lead into one of the doors, which is closed. You don't find any traps on either door.

Hecktor |

Earlier
"Thank you Lawson. That feels much better."
Hecktor has equipped his shortbow for now, since he's in the back.
Hecktor thinks back about the dead assassin and casually makes a comment:
"I wouldn't be surprised if we'd find another one of those guys with that tattoo in here. Dead or alive for that matter, it's unsafe to just be venturing here alone. These types.."
Sense motive 14 to notice:

Lucanor |

"No tricks or traps so far..."
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
"Who would treat an image of Torag so? I'm not a follower, but he deserves better." He sighs.
"And doc, I'd suggest no explosives or wide flames? If we accidentally destroy the mushrooms in the spill over, well.. that might defeat the purpose."

Gared the Ranger |

Gared stiffens as he studies the footprints more, but says nothing. He follows the group, nodding in agreement at Lucanor's statement regards the mushrooms.
"We should prepare in case these wolves are ready to pounce though," he says, pulling out his longbow.

GM Niles |

Let me know what you want to do, and check my placement of you on the map. Each person check placement and say what full rounds worth of actions your going to take. I'll resolve everything

Gared the Ranger |

Gared pulls his greataxe from his back and readies an attack in case any wolves leap through the door.
Attack (greataxe): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage (greataxe): 1d12 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
If no wolves attack, he'll step through the door cautiously and attack any wolves he can.

GM Niles |

Wolves: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Michael: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Percival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Silas: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Gared: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Lucanor: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Hecktor: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
This small study looks like it has been lived
in recently. Gnawed bones litter the floor and
tufts of gray fur can be seen here and there. An
old stone desk sits in the center of the chamber,
scratched and cracked in many places. The
stench of wet fur hangs heavy in the air.
Two wolves leap to the attack with ferocious howls!

Hecktor |

If no wolves attack, he'll step through the door cautiously and attack any wolves he can.
So much for wishful thinking. Time for swinging that axe of yours. :)
Edit after Lucanor's post:
It aught to right? If the wolf jumps at Gared who wanted to step into the doorway...Assuming he didn't quite get the chance to step through with the wolves having 1st initiative.

Lucanor |

Not sure if Lucanor can position himself to flank one if it's attacking Gered... but hopefully he can at least put his sword to use.
Lucanor thrusts his blade at an angle, hoping to catch a wolf in the flank.
to hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 +2 if flanking?
Dmg if that hits: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Silas Hawkwinter |

"We're all bunched up here! Push em back, or make room!", shouts Silas.
I'm not good enough to take the shot, and my tricks are useless against animals... It galls me to admit it, but the instructors at the Academe may have been right about my curriculum choices. It all seemed so clever at the time, mocking the enemy, goading them in to false steps, but if they don't understand, I'm left standing around with no words of encouragement for my companions who do understand.
Looks like Silas would take a -8 to hit vs the wolf north of Garad due to firing into melee and cover, which seems like a waste of an action. Instead Silas will ready an action to shoot any enemy he gets a clear shot on (I.e. it doesn't have cover).

GM Niles |

There is always the aid another action which is a hit on AC 10 and gives +2 to hit to a person of your choice on their next attack.
@ Hecktor when everyone has readied actions, initiative decides who acts first. The wolves have scent and +10 perception....they knew you were there.

Gared the Ranger |

After slaying the wolf, Gared steps into the room to allow others to move in behind him.
5' step forward.

Silas Hawkwinter |

"You made short work of that one Gared, lets finish off the other one!", shouts Silas encouragingly.
I'll have to see what Michael does, but if possible Silas will move 2 or 3 squares to the right and shoot the Woolf, assuming that's possible.

Lucanor |

Lucanor presses the last wolf Five step if possible? and slashes at it. His blade whips through the air to strike.
To hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
And air is all it hits

Gared (-4hp)
guys, in an effort to speed up combat, post your actions for the round but give me a couple options tactically to resolve from. I'll use the one most advantageous to you. I'll make any neccesary rolls for ya, I have pretty easy access to your sheets and stats (except Percival who has to be clicked through to a doc)

Hecktor |

Hecktor will ready an attack with his shortbow in case something happens where he and Percival are at.
Also he will shout towards the others how things are:
"Fellas, how is the situation with the wolves?"
Percival isn't saying anything about the ???? he saw as he walked by?

GM Niles |

Interpreting Percival's post to mean hold action
Round 2
Wolf attacks Gared Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 and misses.
Lucanor moves closer to the wolf and attacks the wolf unsuccessfully.
Percival holds, post whenever for immediate action
Hobgoblin shoots bow and misses
Michael aid another: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Hecktor <---- we are here.
Silas
??????
Gared (-4hp)
The creature that Percival saw was the Hobgoblin from earlier! He launches an arrow at Hecktor while shouting YOU KILLED MY BRUDDER! Bow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 the arrow whizzes by Hecktor, which definately gets his attention.

Silas Hawkwinter |

@Niles I'm fine with Silas shooting into melee.
Edit: The hobgoblin! Silas can do something more effective than plinking arrows. He will move to get line of sight and cast Hideous Laughter.
"Oh ho ho, look whose back for more! Its no laughing matter death! Death is a very dull dreary affair and my advice to you is to have nothing to do with it. Still it's funny the way most people love the dead. Once you're dead, you're made for life! When I die I want to donate my body for research, but more specifically to a scientist who is working on bringing dead bodies back to life..."
Silas wrinkles his nose as the stench of the hobgoblin wafts over him, "Look on the bright side, you never have to smell your Brudder any more, no more worrying about what to get him for his birthday, no more pretending you like socks or that he doesn't snore. No more tidying up after him. Yup, its better this way!"

Hecktor |

Wow, looking at the map he must have been recochet shooting...the doors are not in favorable position for a line of fire. So let's ignore logic now and return fire :)
If the doors are actually obstructing los,
Move: to being able to see. (i should make it)
Attack: shooting at the goblin with speechproblem.
If they are not obstructing,
Attack the goblin.
Move onto tile to below percival's square.
Shooting bow: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 1 + 2 = 23
Determining critical
Is it critical?: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 1 + 2 = 23
BOOYAH!! :D
Dmg of the arrow: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3) = 7 (add 6 extra dmg according to Silas)
Hecktor notices the arrow (obviously) flying past him.
"Well look who's here. Are you done little hobgob? Now it's MY turn.
Niles, on the dmg i'm somewhat pondering. On paizo itself it states for str bonus, i'd need a short "composite" bow. But on the d20pfsrd it just states:
Wielding a Weapon Two-Handed: When you deal damage with a weapon that you are wielding two-handed, you add 1-1/2 times your Strength bonus (+6) You don't get this higher Strength bonus, however, when using a light weapon with two hands. But this shortbow is martial, not light.

Silas Hawkwinter |

The two handed damage rules don't apply to ranged attacks. Unless your bow is made for somebody with a strong pull you don't normally have any pluses from str. Your bow allows a maximum of +2 str damage, so due to the x3 from the crit you should add 6 extra damage.

GM Niles |

@ Hecktor, those white things are indeed doors, however mechanics purposes they do not count as cover unless explicitly hid behind(Its not like I can show the doors as opened/closed after you walk through them). LOS/cover issues read pretty much like this. If you can draw a straight line from any one corner of your square to any one corner of his square and nothing blocks it...no cover. I mean, I've been allowing attacks from around the corner against the wolves. Also, Hecktor your wielding a normal shortbow which does 1d6 dmg. To do more ranged damage you would need a composite shortbow made for your strength bonus so while you indeed critical hit the Hobgoblin you do 7 total damage.
Round 2
Wolf attacks Gared and misses.
Lucanor moves closer to the wolf and attacks the wolf unsuccessfully.
Percival holds, post whenever for immediate action

Kobald throws a dagger at Hecktor and hits for 3 damage!
Gared (-4hp)<---- we are here.
A kobald pops out from behind a door and throws a dagger at Hecktor! Dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Sneak Attack: 1d3 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + (1) = 3
