Anyone else get the feeling that we've stumbled into the early 20th century with lasers?
Three female characters: the one with power is cold and calculating; the others are a mothering role or damsels-in-distress.
Violence and leadership are for men.
I know it's early days in the adventure. Just stood out to me when we cut to the 'protect the vulnerable half-naked party-girl' male-power-fantasy.
Maybe it's emphasised by all our characters being blokes.
And I made Cade's partner heavily-pregnant so that he could feel the weight of responsibility to look after her... damnitall.

Who might be setting us up. My character likely wouldn’t know until betrayed.
As for leadership, I got the impression that Miss Joss was in a leadership role.
Ferani Nadaz was described as a barbarous human woman who is the current leader of the Downside Kings.

I guess it's easier to remember characters you meet as well.
Incidentally, even if she is setting us up, it still sets a certain kind of cultural expectation as the norm, which we are expected to fall for.

No, this is not Paizo’s fault but mine. In my mind, the unnamed guards that marched up to at Astral were half female, as were the gang members standing guard at Mama Fats. I never named their gender. I did name the gender of one of the gate guards, but he was male, and I gendered the three in the back as male, so it’s easy to see them all that way. Ferani, their leader, is a woman.
I was lazy on my vacation, and did not give sufficient descriptions. My apologies. At least my receptionist was male... *Head bonk.*
I’ll be better. Now I feel like a really rotten GM. Ugh. The future is not the fifties, and I should have known better.

I hadn’t remembered the gang leaders’s gender, had to go back and look it up. I also don’t tend to do this sort of analysis of characters.
I know my character really doesn’t care what gender the human dancer is. Wrong race and he is traditional enough for that to matter.

I don’t normally, I think it’s just the ‘80s action movie vibe of this nightclub scene, which is great, got my cogs turning.
I think I’m also much more analytical of this because Starfinder is not a groove I can slip into easily.
I feel so comfortable RPing in a fantasy bar (in fact, just had a great bar scene in Reaping What We Sow) but I’m questioning everything here. I honestly wonder if I should have played a isolated stranger who grew up away from tech in a strange cult. That would help cover all my mistakes and confusion with ‘no, I meant to do that’.
And Hmm, this game is going great, and my favourite bit is an NPC which you invented.
There is always something you can criticise about your own GMing, I know the feeling, but any complaints about this game would be crazy.
I learnt a mantra for times like that: The Perfect is the Enemy of the Good.

Male =/= bloke :)
British English
Male = BlokeAussie English
I have no idea.
For instance, in British English you could say 'He's a top bloke' and it would mean that you had a high opinion of his character.
You could say 'That bloke's incredibly camp', which I think might not work on the other side of the world.
Or 'There's a bloke outside riding a penny-farthing and wearing a monocle. He's quoting Oscar Wilde to the crowd: top bloke!'
Again, I'm not sure that would work for you.

Yeah we don't use camp too much, and the irony of the statement is that a 'blokey bloke' is pretty much the polar opposite of camp.
It must be a regional thing.
To be a 'blokey bloke' we'd expect you are the sort of person who knows their way around an engine or be some kind of tradesman who works with their hands, you'd have to be good at some form of 'acceptable' sport (or have played it when you were younger and are still up to speed on the latest news), you are able to smash beers all day and night (and/or rum, bit only in Queensland), you probably like cars with 8 cylinders (though you probably just drive a 6) though 4 cylinder cars are of marginal respectability - a Prius is not acceptable, for any reason.
You would also likely have the emotional range of a refrigerator (unless the footy/cricket/horse races are on the TV), and the idea of getting all dressed up for an event (other than a funeral or wedding) will usually lead to belligerence and stubborn unwillingness.
We use bloke like we use 'mate', we might well call a stranger mate, but saying someone is your mate has an entirely different meaning - its all about tone and context.
So not all blokes are blokes.
Like my mate who is a tattooed chain smoking truck driving mechanic who is a total gun at soccer (football), sees friday night as the start of a three-day drinking festival every week and is always sighted with hot women - she's a top bloke too.

            Over here, that's a 'lad'.
It has a juvenile subtext: you're supposed to grow out of it.
Bloke does have a bit of a class association though. Posh people would say 'chap'.

I know lads pretty well, and whilst they have a few similarities with blokes, I would say that being a bloke is usually a more of a rural thing. You don't see many 'blokey blokes' around the inner city, but if I went for a drive to the outback they'd be the only type you'd find.

Yeah rural Australians are a pretty friendly bunch, rough and unrefined, but always pretty decent. I was away a couple of weeks ago and in the small shop the ladies there called me 'Darl(ing)', 'love', and 'sweetie' all in the one transaction of getting a couple of coffees and some pastries to go. Hey Gang —
I have been struggling the past week to move the game, and realize that real life is rearing its head for me, and I have suddenly been going at an unfairly slow pace for all of you. It’s time for me to pare down my campaigns a little. I asked Eric Collins, the VC of Paris, if he’d be willing to take over for me to keep you going. He said yes, and that he’d check in with you tomorrow.
I am stepping down as GM, and hope that the rest of your journey is delightful.
Hugs,
Hilary

Thanks for understanding. Between changes at work, and changes elsewhere, I realized that I wasn’t giving this game the time it deserved. You all deserve awesome, and I am hoping that a few months from now I can provide that awesome to all of you in a different game, when everything settles down.
Hmm
PS I am happy to share my maps, rename the campaign, or do anything else that will help this transition.

So, Hmm wears boots?!
Was wondering (stilettos, pumps, penny loafers, high heels, slippers...).Now, what kind of boots: camping boots, hip waders, rubber rain boots...?
A teeny tiny man enters, barely visible. An easy Sense Motive roll lets you understand that this person is literally crushed by the immense pressure of having to take over a Hmm game.
Hello all, and saddened that Hmm's life is harsh right now. I hope things will get better, somehow, in the upcoming weeks.
I will obviously not measure up to the current GMing, but I will give it my best, and hope to at least offer you an enjoyable ride.
So that you know: I was getting ready to run this AP, thus it is no burden running this in itself, but a pleasure.
I will start looking into things today, and hope to finish by tomorrow (reading the AP, and all the posts and such).
So I'll aim to get posting on Monday
Note: I am in France, so post in Euro time. In general I always post 1/day (in my morning, which is between 10 pm East coat and after midnight West coast). I often post more often (a 2nd post in my evenings, nearly always).
I will make an Alias for SFS DM-ing.
So, I'll get to reading and prepping, and will get back to you.
Please tell me if there is anything special I should know.

Hello all, here's the alias I made for DMing SFS.
This will be my second SFS - PbP game (and I have not that much experience in PFS - PbP, nor of PbP on this site) so you will have to be patient with me (please?).
I have however done some PbP (on RPOL), namely one 4 year The One Ring campaign, so I should be okay (and, re. SFS, I have DM-ed a dozen games tabletop, so I am starting to know the rules, so at least there's that).
There's some info' about SFS and me etc. in my alias' profile.
Have a good week-end all, you know what I'll be doing (reading!), and hope to have fun with you and not be too much of a let down.
NOTE: the "Absalom Station" link beside my Avatar sends you to the Slides

            Mon Cher Eric --
My life is less harsh than busy. Becoming a VC meant that I got to double my staff. Which is great but that means now that I also have to orient them... And there are other things going on in the background too like reduced screen time at work and family matters.
This past week it became increasingly clear that I could not manage two campaigns at the same time right now. Everything went crazy at once.
Query to Eric... Do you want to represent yourself more in your GM name? GM SFS does not identify you as being you, and you are awesome.

I’ve been told by some very experienced Pathfinder GMs that it runs a little long for two sessions. Once I’ve read it, I plan to talk with others on how to make it fit.
I suspect that I will end up cutting some of the investigation phase.
Since it is at a convention, it will have to fit into two slots. :)

(the only info' I got was that it took up to 14 hours to run, but that was tabletop home group, so probably a lot of time to RP and such).
