I don’t think it was me, but trying to use the slides app on my phone can cause hilarious side effects...
If by hilarious you mean deeply irritating

Hmm, I have my download of Starfinder AP2, Temple of the Twelve.
Any articles I can read?

Castrovel should be safe! I've only started reading it myself, but the Gazeteer should be fine.

Setting question: how connected is Absalom Station?
Can Cade call his girl and let her know that he landed safely but might be late home?

I don't know about wired comms (like payphones, seems like there would be something), but it would be a Mk II personal comm to comminicate across a world station.
| GM Hmm |
The Starstone is there. Communications in the Pact Worlds are pretty fast as a result.

Click. Whirr.
The bot assigned to escort you moves sullenly forward.
I'm a state of the art personality emulation bot, suitable for both diplomatic negotiations and high stakes combat. And what am I doing? Scutwork and tour duty. No, don't mind me. I of course have nothing better to do.
Bot Buddy rolls through the hallways without even waiting to see if you are following. Look, here is an empty hallway. Followed by another empty hall. Oh, there's someone walking in this one, but they're going in the other direction so don't mind them. Bot Buddy gestures at a Lashunta walking off in the distance. Over in this wing are research labs and combat training facilities, but we're not going there. Oh, here's a maintenance closet. That's where I spend the majority of my time. Not that you care.
He keeps rolling forward, keeping you all at a fast walk.
"You mean you aren't assigned to the firing range? That is where I would be assigned by Mikkazuki! She is always looking for new ways to damage me."
| GM Hmm |
It is my assumption that all information found will be shared with the group, so that I don’t have to track who knows what. If this is not the case with anyone, tell me.
Hmm
| GM Hmm |
Should I hold off on the information downloads while you guys have your meeting, or keep going and let you integrate it all?
Zeyram
|
I don't care, either way works for me.
I expect that my bar-hopping to gather information from pilots and such will take longer than what the others are doing.

Just thought: could Cade have taken 10, or maybe 20, on his check at the Old Arc, maybe shown up with beer and pizza at the end of a shift?
| GM Hmm |
I will always let you take ten. You just need to declare it before rolling. So.... You’re researching the TV personality Roon? Bringing in Beer and Pizza should be no problem. Is there a place to pick it up from the Arcanarium?
I’m assuming that your rooms are paid for and with 200 credits a piece, food just happens. If you want to buy something bigger or more permanent, that’s when I care about the cash. Does this make sense?
Hmm
Cadence Rem
|
Okay, I think I got confused.
I thought Roon was the rock from The Drift?
Anyway, Cade thinks people at the Arcanarium might know about (or do research into) drift rocks: it’s their kind of bag.
So, picks up beer and pizza slices from a place near his home. And has some relaxed end-of-shift shop-talk with some of his fellows.
Is that going to be diplomacy (taking 10 for 11) or some work-based skill?
I didn’t take profession: technician because I’m already allocating four skill points to work-skills: engineering, phys. Science, life science and mysticism. All very necessary for the job.
| GM Hmm |
Okay, that makes a lot more sense now. I feared that I had made Roon so lively an NPC that you thought he was an actual plot hook.
Go ahead and write up a new post. I’m willing for you to use Physical Science or Mysticism when discussing the Drift Rock with colleagues.

Meanwhile, think about what you might want to poke at as a group. You already have the general locations of the gangs, you know the names of Astral Extractions and the Hardscrabble Collective, etc.
Is anyone going with Zeyram to the Wing Nut* Pilot Bar?
____
* It’s so much fun to come up with names!
Cadence Rem
|
Flyboys? Are you kidding me!
They can be alright on their own but get a few together and sheesh... so, a whole bar of them? With liquor?!
Cade is gonna share out cold pizza and left over beer in the suite.
Zeyram
|
Well people could always try to collect information from the Hardscrabble Collective. Since Kreel was a member, you might be able to find out a bit more from them.
We have plenty of things to poke at. Choose something and hit it in whatever way makes sense given your character's skill set. Sometimes that is taking the lead on something, other times it is helping someone else with what they are doing.
Ask if you need specific suggestions on what you might be able to do.
Cadence Rem

Cade already put in a vote for visiting the Hardscrabble Collective: he just needs a charmer to go with him.

But I’ve got friends who are pilots, so I’m duty-bound to make fly-boy jokes.

Sorry everyone, at a wedding. Please not me if needed until later tonight.

How the heck did you acheive this effect, Cade?
Cade blinks slowly...
Xyklik, enjoy your wedding and have fun!

The investigation appears to be slowing down. Once we do Zeyram’s pilot bar scene, should we move on to visiting places in person as a group? I don’t want you guys to disengage or run out of things to poke at...

Groups with known locations:
Astral Extractions — Offices in Bluerise Sector
Downside Kings
Level 21 Crew
Where’d you like to go first?
Hawthorne the Innovator
|
I want to try the Level 21 Crew, but Hawthorne and Sophia probably want to go to Astral Extractions... since showing up at the latter with bullet holes will probably diminish our charm.
| GM Hmm |
We can do Astral Extractions first. Do you want to offer up a leading post for that in gameplay?
| Simagus |
either works for me... sorry if I seem to be gone.. but the insane rate of posting is making me lose time... stupid work and social life :(
| GM Hmm |
So I’ve been keeping up a steady pace in part because the investigations section was one that I thought might drag out, and might also involve people poking off on their own to look at things. Also... I wanted to keep the pace steady so that there might be a chance of us finishing by the end of the Gameday. But if the pace gets too crazy, we can slow down and just forgo gameday boons if you like. I don’t want to leave people behind.
Hmm
| GM Hmm |
I’m good with either Level 28 or Astral. If two of you agree, we’ll go there.
| GM Hmm |
Sorry, Level 21 Crew, not Level 28! Bah!

I would very much like to complete this before November 15th. The reason is that I will be going out of town the weekend of Nov 17th-19th for a convention and would like to play this character there. It would allow me to collect the Worldwide Explorer boon on this character.
I know that this may not prove feasible and accepted that when I joined. Still, it would be my preference.
| GM Hmm |
Cadence that was the most AWESOME rant ever! I loved everyone else’s contributions too! What good RP you all gave me just now. I am a happy, happy GM!

I hope you also enjoyed Bill. Like many of the NPCs you have encountered so far, he is entirely my creation.

Hawthorne makes an apologetic bow and turns to leave, escorted by the armed security.
You know that makes two Bluerise corporations now.
"Yes. Make sure that virus is gone-gone."
Are you doubting my skills?
"We did just set off the alarm on a reception desk."
Human error.
"We've managed to avoid bullet holes in our shirts twice now," he says once they're on their way down the street. "Do we want to try for three or should we just entertain ourselves until breakfast tomorrow?"
I am curious about this too. If you guys want I can fast forward you to breakfast tomorrow. You’ve had a scary day. You might want to spend time regrouping and reporting and just recovering your nerves.
Or you may decide to go straight into the jaws of the Downside Kings... Either way, I’m good with your decision!

By the way, tomorrow is Wednesday. Expect light to almost no posts.

The more I think about Cade, the more he seems like a guy with a chip on his shoulder.
By the blue-collar standards of his mates on the laser-darts/anti-grav-pool team, he’s pretty made: solid job at the university.
But every day he’s treated like a menial drone, not because the profs are mean but because they think their work is so important and he’s just a technician.
So, if we get a ship, Cade’s definitely going to ask Bill if he fancies a new job in space.
And if Starfinder has any boons like the PFS one that lets you get someone to carry your gear, Bill is it.
| GM Hmm |
Starfinder has ally boons. Check out pages 24-35 of the SFS Guide. The boons list is VERY interesting.
Here are two that might be interesting to you, but there are many more available!
Prerequisites: All Factions
Tier 0
Cost: 1
Benefit: You bring on a non-combat ally that can assist with a certain set of skill checks. This ally can perform the listed skills with a total bonus equal to your level. You must expend any necessary actions and be in range to perform the action yourself. The ally's result cannot be modified by class abilities or spells, but can be improved by a successful aid another action. The ally does not participate in combat, cannot be killed outside of combat, and has no effect other than providing the ability to attempt skill checks. When you select this boon, you must select one of the following sets of skills.
Set 1: Computers, Engineering, Physical Science
Set 2: Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate
Set 3: Culture, Medicine, Survival
Set 4: Life Science, Mysticism, Physical Science
Special: You can purchase this boon multiple times. Each time you purchase this boon, you can select a different set of skills from the list above. When slotting this boon, you can only select one of the skill lists you have available from the above list, even if you have purchased multiple lists.
Hmm’s Note: There are successive levels of this hireling that can be gotten with boons, so his skill bonus can improve.
An aide skilled in languages accompanies you as a translator on missions.
Prerequisites: Wayfinders
Tier 2
Cost: 2
Fame Benefit: You bring along a noncombatant translator skilled in several languages. In addition to Common, the translator knows a number of languages equal to your current Reputation Tier with the Wayfinders faction + 1. When you purchase this boon, you must select the languages known by the translator. These can be any languages listed on page 41 of the Starfinder Core Rulebook or any unique language you've encountered in a previous scenario. When your Reputation Tier increases, you can add an additional language to those known by your translator.
I would be honored if you found that Bill 278 was memorable enough to become your ally.

VACATION NOTICE
My spouse is kidnapping me to San Antonio for our 20th Wedding Anniversary, and apparently we're leaving tomorrow!
Will I be able to do posts from the hotel in San Antonio? I have no idea. I may be able to advance the game at a post a day, or I may go into radio silence.
We'll be gone from October 22-27.
No matter what, we'll roar back into business on Friday October 27!

Check the last Paizo blog for the SFS player race boon. This game counts as 3 credits, which is half of Tier 2.
