@Istvan: Its pretty clearly some kind of triggered animated object. Though it is inactive at present.

HP 22, AC 12/12/10, CMD 13/15, F;+3, R; +3, W; +5

Istvan be thinking the statue is indeed animate, but we have yet to trigger it.

Istvan be wondering: do we search the coffins and risk awakening the beast or do we continue our search elsewhere?

HP 19/19, AC 15/12/13, CMD 15, F; +2, R; +5, W +3

"How 'bout we just smash it before we try pilfering the coffins? Or disable it some other way? Maybe we can tie it's legs together or disrupt it's magics by blindfolding it?"

Elvar moves up to inspect the statue and inspects it with an eye toward disabling it.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Disable Device: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

@Elvar: I'm pretty sure you can't disable a magic item.

@All: Just to be clear, there are no coffins in this room. There are just stone slabs (that served as beds). The corpse was laying on one of the slabs as if sleeping.

Female Human Ranger 3 (HP 28/28, AC 17/14/13, F+5 R+7 W+3, CMD 19)

"I think we can just tie its legs with a rope. If it moves, it will have to break the rope."

With that, Talia take out some rope to tie the statue legs together.
Break DC will be 23 and untie DC will be 22.

"If there's nothing else in the room, let's go forwards and check the third branch.

Male Human Spiritualist (Fractured Mind/Phantom Blade) 1 (HP 10/10) (AC 18/14/14) (CMD 15) (Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +0) (Init +4) (Perception +5)

Harold nods.

"I agree. We should keep moving."

Keeping a wary eye on the statue as the party departs, Harold only breathes a sigh of relief once everyone has left the room.

HP 19/19, AC 15/12/13, CMD 15, F; +2, R; +5, W +3

@Fanguar; I'm certain I can't, just wanted to see if anything would happen if I started fiddling with the thing.

Stepping away from the statue with sense of let-down-anticipation Elvar turns back to the slabs.

"Strange. I was sure something would happen." he mutters as he passes them, laying his hands on one of the slabs.

@Elvar: you feel a light cushion of air just above the slab. It would make for comfortable sleeping. Feel free to keep trying to trigger the statue, but moving on...

Investigating down the third passage, you notice that this hallway slopes noticeably downwards. It ends in a set of stairs that eventually disappear into a pool of still water. It's clear that the remaining hallway and any rooms beyond have become flooded and are now completely submerged.

Male Human Spiritualist (Fractured Mind/Phantom Blade) 1 (HP 10/10) (AC 18/14/14) (CMD 15) (Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +0) (Init +4) (Perception +5)

Harold eyes the water doubtfully.

"Does anyone here have the ability to breathe water? If not, I imagine we may have to skip this part..."

HP 19/19, AC 15/12/13, CMD 15, F; +2, R; +5, W +3

"Not me. Hells, I can't even swim."

Female Human Ranger 3 (HP 28/28, AC 17/14/13, F+5 R+7 W+3, CMD 19)

"I can swim, especially if I put on the red masterwork armor that will not restrain my movements. If someone can light the way, I can go and explore. I'll just tie a rope around my waist and give a single tug regularly. If I give two tugs or none, just haul me back."

I think Parnel and maybe hector can swim as well.

HP 19/19, AC 15/12/13, CMD 15, F; +2, R; +5, W +3

"I can send a dancing lights spell down for about 120 feet, it has a duration of one minute, but maybe Istvan should rather cast light on something you're carrying. It's got way more duration and you can control the light yourself."

HP 22, AC 12/12/10, CMD 13/15, F;+3, R; +3, W; +5

Mumbling under his breath for a few seconds, Istvan touches the red leather armor, which begins to glow with a soft white light.

Istvan be thinking this should be sufficient light. Istvan also be thinking we should tie a rope to you. Istvan has always enjoyed fishing.

Light on the armor

Female Human Ranger 3 (HP 28/28, AC 17/14/13, F+5 R+7 W+3, CMD 19)

Talia takes off her studded leather armor to put on the glowing red leather armor and removes all her gear except her shortsword and a dagger.

Knotting the rope at her waist, she stretches and taking a deep breath, she dives under the surface.

Parnell strips off his armor, and gets ready to go to the rescue if required. "Be ready Hector".

Just to be clear: once you descend the stairs you will be completely underwater. Drowning rules: You may hold you breath for 2xCON Score rounds, as long as you only take move or free actions. standard action use up an extra round. Once you run out of rounds, you must make a DC10 (+1 for each subsequent round) Fort save, or begin to drown. The first round of drowning, you fall unconscious, the second you're dying, the third, you're dead.

Round 1

Talia:

After a moment your eye's adjust to your aquatic environment. The chamber you find yourself in looks to to have been a large communal shower. Piles of rubble and rotten clothes hopelessly clog the drains. To the left and right are open arches, while to the south there is a closed stone door.

Female Human Ranger 3 (HP 28/28, AC 17/14/13, F+5 R+7 W+3, CMD 19)

Round 2/28

In a flash, the creature slams into you with bone crushing power.

The rope jerks violently.

Talia may act first. Anyone who wishes to act, please roll initiative first

Female Human Ranger 3 (HP 28/28, AC 17/14/13, F+5 R+7 W+3, CMD 19)

underwater:
Despite the creature blow, Talia keeps her bearings. She draws her blade with a single hand, trying to pierce the creature in the same movement. In the mean time, her second hand tugs twice at the rope.
Attack action 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21, damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 piercing, swim check if necessary 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

"Hang on Talia!"

Harold grabs the rope, and starts hauling it in.

HP 22, AC 12/12/10, CMD 13/15, F;+3, R; +3, W; +5

Istvan valiantly stands out of the way, allowing his more physically adept companions room to haul Talia back.

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Talia:

You land a solid blow on the creature, before you are yanked off your feet by the pull of the rope. The creature chases after you:

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

and slams into you once more.

You may attack this round at a -4 to hit (DC16 Swim or Acrobatics check to negate the penalty)

Round 2

The rope jerks again...
(Talia still gets to act in round 2, but just to keep the action flowing and assuming you don't stop pulling the rope...)

Talia emerges from the water spluttering and in obvious pain. Behind her, rising from the water, is a vaguely humanoid creature apparently made out of water.

Know(planes)DC12:
Medium water elemental.

Now that she is back on the ground, Talia manages to step out of the way of the creature path, once again landing a blow of her own. Then she steps back (5 foot step) to let her companions reach the creature.

You may pursue, or leave combat

HP 19/19, AC 15/12/13, CMD 15, F; +2, R; +5, W +3

Elvar makes to follow the elemental down into the waters but stops when he remembers that he can't realy swim.

"Was there any way to drain the water, Talia, or are these passages blocked to us?"

Female Human Ranger 3 (HP 28/28, AC 17/14/13, F+5 R+7 W+3, CMD 19)

Talia relaxes slightly from her defensive position.

"I don't know for sure, but it only looks like a communal shower room with aches on the left and right and a stone door at the end. All the drains are clogged. Anyway, we can't go through with that thing still there. If it does not come back, we'll have to fight it on its own ground. I'm ready to do it if anyone can heal me and if Parnell and Hector come with me. With the 3 of us, we can best it."

rulewise, even if you do not have swim as a skill, you can use it untrained with your str bonus.

HP 19/19, AC 15/12/13, CMD 15, F; +2, R; +5, W +3

I know, thanks, I'm just going to make it look like dog-paddling 'cause of having no ranks in it.

Elvar pulls out a potion of cure light wounds and hands Talia.

"Can they be un-clogged, you think? I'd think the elemental would scurry off to lick it's wounds after the beating we gave it, you might be able to work unmolested down there for a bit."

HP 22, AC 12/12/10, CMD 13/15, F;+3, R; +3, W; +5

Istvan is not so sure about following. Istvan is having a history of bad luck with water. Is why Istvan be keeping his feet on dry land.

Perhaps Istvan is better staying here and holding the rope

"Not without a lot of work from what I saw, but we can try."

We can conserve our potion, I think. If Harold is fine with it, he can use lay on hands on Talia.

Isn't this the last junction down this pathway?

This is the last area left to explore.

Istvan can perhaps assist somewhat by reinforcing the armor of those going in. Istvan is having magics to guard against injury

I can mage armor Parnel and Hector since neither are currently wearing armor

We ok over here folks? What's the game plan?

Talia is ready to go back in alone or with Hector and Parnell. Waiting for his approval.

Male Human, AC17/12/15; HP 24; F+4, R+2, W+7; CMD 13, CMB +1 Druid 3 (Dragon Shaman)

Parnell is wearing Wooden Armor, but would be willing to take it off to swim if he get's mage armor. I could also memorize air bubble if we waited till the next day.

"Can we draw it out to fight, or must we go in after it"?

Harold shrugs.

"It did not seem keen to *stay* out of the water for any length of time; I fear that if we wish to permanently deal with it, we will have to pursue it underwater."

HP 19/19, AC 15/12/13, CMD 15, F; +2, R; +5, W +3

"Maybe unclogging the drains will get it's attention. I'm sure it likes it home as watery as can be." Elvar says and shrugs.

HP 22, AC 12/12/10, CMD 13/15, F;+3, R; +3, W; +5

With much waving of arms and scribling of arcane sysmbols, Istavan places wards around Parnel and Hector.

Mage Armor on both, using my pearl of power to recover the spell between castings

Istvan has placed his protections. Istvan is thinking Istvan's wards should be lasting several hours.

We can try to handle this in 10 round chunks. 1 munute under, then surface, repeat if necessary

HP 19/19, AC 15/12/13, CMD 15, F; +2, R; +5, W +3

While Istvan casts his spells Elvar hammers a pair of pitons into each of the two walls next to the stairway down into the waters and loops a rope through each, offering Talia one rope to tie around her waist and Parnel the other.

"I'll hang on to one rope if Harold will hold the other, Istvan could stand by each and watch for vibrations and give the order to pull you out if you give the signal. Same system as before."

I'm hoping for a circumstance bonus on the strength check by using the wall as leverage.
