I'm in California (gmt -8)
I'd love to work out some backstory stuff with other PCs, but due to the relative jumble recruitment threads tend to turn into I'm not really sure who all the other characters are (I know their names but not their classes or backgrounds)
Once everyone posts their timezone info maybe we can make a party roster with full party role description and work out background links from there?

BATTLE!!!
Thanks for the acceptance.
I am in Afghanistan, not sure the exact timezone, but I believe it is +1230 hours from CMT in America. Or rather I am 12 1/2 hours before Central Time Zone in America.
I am also looking forward to creating a background (with the group), but really want a little bit more info on the setting. I know next to nothing about it other than it's a vikingish setting and there are SIx Clans trying to discover the great evil of yore.

I'm a Barbarian-like Cleric of Gorum. Looking at a battlepriest that will raise the dead to continue the fight. Will work out the rest when we start building a background and learn more of the setting.

there is little I can tell you without spoiling anything
The people of the six clans consist of mostly humans and Dwarves there are little of any other race, It is a mountainous and snowy region all year round, Is lead by the sons of the ancestors of old called the Jarls, all the Jarls are Dwarves, The people are very religious setting is nordic, The Jarls can consult with the ancestors of yore all of the Jarls are laid to rest in the Valley of sleeping Jarls a valley far to the north of the Land of Song. There is little else I can say without spoiling anything hope this helps.

I'm on the US West Coast, PST. I can usually post during the morning and throughout the day. Less often on the weekends but at least once a day.
I'm happy to write others into my background, I figure there are lots of opportunities to meet while I'm traveling from the southern lands up to the far north.

Curvlk is intelligent(for a goblin!), passionate, and wise (even by dwarven standards!) and a seeker of adventure, excitment, and knowledge. Curvlk is an inquisitor of Sarenrae, and is also brilliantly manipulative and even terrifying when he wants to be. Curvlk would happily follow anyone who lead interesting lives. The better stories, grander experiences, and more vivid of a life they lead, the happier he'd be. Whether or not they wanted to be follow him probably wouldn't matter, and Curvlk excels at sneaking, like the rest of his race.
I live in NY, so I'll be posting at Easter Standard Time (GMT-5) *high fives rainydayninja*
Thank you for the acceptance, and I look forward to role playing with all of you!
Galstak |
Awright! Thanks for the opportunity. Looking forward to gaming with all of you. I am EST. Can post until 1130pm est.
Stak is travelling from his southern fishing village to Yngvar's Hall. He is travelling alone as is normal for him. I would be happy for him to join up with someone if a logical story can be contrived.
Galstak |
The idea I had was that Morphet stumbled upon Galstak's encampment one evening. You happened to catch him in one of his "vision fits" spouting celestial ramblings. You tried to make heads or tails of it, but it was gibberish even for celestial. You were there when Stak awoke and helped him get his bearings. Speaking celestial, since it is what he was speaking, you find him to be quite a unique individual. And the feeling is likewise.
Let me know your thoughts.
Khalil Noyon |
Tok,
I'd be happy to have the two of us encounter each other while traveling north. Perhaps we end up on the same ship as I make my way north from Osirion. Khalil's open minded and wandering nature might make for a good traveling companion, while your beliefs and compassionate nature could provide a counter balance to his rebelliousness and help him come to terms with his new patron deity.
I'm not sure if the Jarl's hall has a port nearby or not, but if it doesn't, then we could easily encounter the others along the road while seeking shelter one evening as we made our way inland.
(For reference my character sheet and background are posted in my profile.)
Let me know what you think.
Khalil Noyon |
No problem about the map. :)
Since there is a port, depending on the season and the frequency of traffic it may or may not be much of a coincidence for those coming from the far south to end up on the same ship traveling north or at the same dockside inn.
One other thought just occurred to me as well. Since these are northern waters and subject to bad weather, it could be that Khalil's ship is damaged or sunk in a storm. Since Khalil can't swim well, a rescue from another ship by Tok or someone else traveling from the south would make him eternally grateful. I could actually see the storm being Khalil's punishment from Calistria for some blasphemous/rebellious attitude or series of comments he made. Just a thought.

Where do you think the phrase, "hop to it!" came from? Bunnies are very organized.@Morphet and Galstak,
Would you guys like to role play our respective meetings, or just kind of pick up our history on the fly? I'm up for either.

Can we discuss party roles and who's willing to fill the big 2?
We need a Dedicated frontliner and a healer. In a group of this size we probably need two healers, actually.
If we do things right we won't need too much healing and the healers can concentrate on battle field control, buffs and other more entertaining things, but sometimes we're going to need someone who can spam cure spells.
A lot of people with healing capacity don't like being pidgeon holed as the healbot, but it's important that we know who's willing and able to fill the role.
Galstak |
I am up for either or so far as role-playing it out. I could be discovered by either Morphet or Curvlk. Perhaps Morphet and Stak hook up as previously mentioned and discover Curvlk being harassed by some northern wolves. Of course rescuing the little guy will make him eternally grateful and eager to stick with these two strangers. He then has a chance to use his charm and charisma on Stak and Morphet further bonding the three.

Volunteers for neither....we squishy sorcerers cant heal...and did I mention we are squishy? :)

Perhaps WarEagle can post the list of players and there classes? It's hard to go back and forth between lists and profiles trying to figure out who is who and what is what.
Seconded. I've been trying to figure it all out but I think of couple of players have yet to post with their character aliases yet so I'm a little lost as to the party makeup.
Morphet |
From what i see in peoples profiles (figured I'd help)
Morphet - 3 boreal Sorcerer
Galstak - Barbarian 2/Oracle 1
Spectrum - Wizard 2 (Arcanamirium Crafter)
Curvulk - Inquisitor 3
Tokara - Cleric6
Kahlil Noyon - Rogue 2/Cleric 1
Blood Eagle - Cleric of Gorum
Aksum - Bard 3
Kaiden - 3 Ranger (didnt find a profile for him yet)
(sorry about missing kaiden)
Looks like spectrum may need another level and Tokara is 3 too high
Again just info I pulled from Profiles
Morphet |
Wandering along the coast, Morphet walks quietly, thinking about Grandma and her recent passing. She was his reason for being an adventurer. He wouldn't change a minute of it tho, the excitement of fighting evil and fighting side by side with like minded companions brought many happy thoughts to mind. His reflection broken now tho by screams in the distance. "Someone is in trouble.." and oddly they are screaming in celestial. Those three months he spent learning that language may actually be paying off. Jokoph, his teacher, would be pleased. Tho maybe not so much as he couldn't make sense of what they were trying to say. Scrambling through to a clearing he sees a man...sleeping?...Screaming? Preparing to defend himself, he pokes the man on the ground with his quarterstaff. "Hello?...Are you all right?"
Wareagle |
The adventure starts with you all (And many other foreign adventures attracted by the promise of rewards and remembrance in song) arriving at Yngvar's by boat etc etc
Anyway important part please explain or RP any meetings you had with other characters (If you had any) that happened on your way there or on the boat or before if they are long time friends or somit.
Yes there are nine character actually more since Jarl sends escort with you and there are other adventures who can potentially join you. Mind you 14 enemies is a "small" battle :)

Having a cleric with channel positive energy fills that role really well. I've always subscribed to the fight well, heal once you've won the combat mentality, but from a role playing aspect, Curvlk would be able to fill either roll if necessary, but would probably fight with cunning, making use of flanking, and using his goblin heritage to his benefit by convincing enemies that he isn't much of threat. That being said, he'd never let any enemy come between him and someone he thinks of as a friend, and would fill the role of protector if necessarily. He also has access to cure spells and has a wand of CLW. Also, Magus can make excellent front liners if that's how they are inclined.
As far as roleplaying goes, I'd love to see Galstak and Morphet coming to rescue the little goblin, but I think it'd be more interesting if you were saving him from Goblin-kind, maybe a small band of hobgoblins?
Galstak |
Galstak stopped for the evening. The chill of the night came on quick. He found a small stand of trees off the well worn path, a path he hoped would lead to Yngvar's Hall. He was nervous about this trip. He wished his uncle were still around. He would be a calming influence on Galstak.
Stak set up a small camp site and gathered some firewood. Striking the fire was easy as the tinder was very dry in the cold climate. The fire going, he dropped some salt pork into a pot of water. Charred salt rations were better than cold dry ones, he thought to himself.
It was a lonely road he was on. He had seen no one for a few days. Perhaps he should not have traveled alone. He put the pot of water and pork near the fire and sat near to gather the warmth.
He thought of his visions and their meaning. He could not help but think of what happened to those poor souls on the ramparts of Yngvar's Hall. What had happened to them? His visions had troubled him of late even though he had not had any recently, thank Erastil.
He rose from tree trunk he sat on and began to stir the pot of salt pork. It came on him fast this time. Usually he had time to prepare when a vision came to him. This time was different. His brain exploded with visions of things he knew nothing about. The visions were accompanied by a white hot heat he knew was only in his mind. He lunged back from the fire and his feet met the tree trunk. He fell back hitting his head hard on the cold ground. He layed there convulsing, saying things in celestial that were not his own.
[Wareagle - feel free to though any hints from these visions in right here!]

I'm going to assume that morphet and Galstak have gotten together with Curvlk before getting to the boat and such and am going to post as if that happened on the other thread, but flex time I'd love to role play out the relationship between the three if you guys are with me!
Spectrum |
I'm thinking that Spectrum will initially have little to no interest in any sort of questing or heroism in the Valley of Song. He's headed there because he's gotten wind of large numbers of undead, which in his mind make ideal subjects for his particular brand of magical research (i.e. blowing them up)
He'd be pretty easy to convince if someone in the party was so inclined.
In case anyone was curious, the things i did in my intro post were Drench (to create water, targeting the cup), Prestidigitation (to heat the water), craft:Alchemy to give him a derivative of Alchemist's Kindness to cure the seasickness, and then Prestidigitation (to change the taste).
Better living through cantrips.

Wereagle
Specifically I'm looking at a few color-themed spells from 3.5 and the Spellcasting Prodigy feat from Forgotten Realms.
Spectrum |
One more question for Wereagle
On finishing up my character I had some interesting ideas for his background to fill the last three levels, but they're a bit GM contingent.
I was trying to figure out what to do with my money. Spectrum is a very style-driven character and most of the stuff he has access to right now just doesn't fit with his theme (and I hate going for any of the "standards" like Cloaks of Resistance)
Psudodragons are listed as purchasable for 200 gp. I was thinking that Spectrum may have purchased a pair of them in order to free them, and through that action began a friendship with them.
Now, spectrum would not be able to take one as a familiar until 7th level and by then I could have Leadership.
What I was thinking is that I could run them as non-combat companions (I wouldn't want to risk them getting killed anyway, they're pretty sub-par in terms of combat ability for this game). They would give Spectrum an impressive assistance to perception and might be able to do some basic scouting, but other than that they'd be purely for theme and roleplay purposes.
At 6th level I'd take Leadership and turn one of them into a full-blown cohort (signifigantly boosting it's power level). At 7th level I'd take Improved Familiar and magically bind the other to me.
Now, the only potential issue with this is the fact that I've taken Bonded Item instead of Familiar (because none of the familiars in the book fit Spectrum's theme). In 3.5 there was a feat for casters without Familiars to get one. Would you allow that as a way to gain a familiar later?
Morphet |
I am game Curvlk. I like the hobgoblin thing although I am not sure Mophet or Stak would get involved in "Goblin" affairs. Saving Curvlk from a pack of animals would bee a no brainer though!
Maybe we couldn't tell he was a goblin at time....cover in cloaks or something :)
Blood Eagle |
I'm thinking I would have set out on the trip purely out of a desire to have a little fun, gain some glory and power, and spread "the word". I'm sure some people may know of me, at the least, but I'm perfectly alright if people want to incorporate me into a backstory together.

Tok was quite the wanderer, she's likely to have met and heard of many people. She's also super friendly.
