Aster Cobblestone |

Fox has been letting us... with MAGIC! His exact(ish) words

DM Hell's Fox |

Yes if you have waterbreathing, you can speak underwater. I can't imagine how passing water through your vocal cords is good for you, but I'm sure the spell implies that you can speak. So, MAGIC!
Still waiting on Tasha. Aster went early.

Tasha Valenti |

Crying out in pain, Tasha lashes out in a frenzy against the shell sentinel, the dagger and mace scuffing onto the creature's thick shell. Where's my shell when I need it..., a thought crosses her head, as the blood seeping through her wounds forms crimson clouds in the water.

DM Hell's Fox |

Tasha's dagger fails to find anything but empty space in her blindness, but her mace bashes right into the sentinel without concern. Its shells crack under the bludgeoning weapon's power, but it is still not down. The arcane energies holding it in place are strong. By the end, she manages to shake off enough glitter in order to see properly.
The pool of ink dissipates completely, and the sentinels slowly regenerate some of their wounds and lash out with their mandibles. Tasha is hit almost every single time and is shredded from face to feet. Yet, by her sheer determination she does not give in. Her body is fighting hard against the venom, making no headway but refusing to give in either. Ederion manages to dodge every attack against him despite being blind, but he's struggling to deal with the bleeding and venom. Tasha takes 17 damage, and 1 bleed damage. Ederion takes 1 bleed damage, and progresses to stage 2 of the poison: Impaired.
A thud is heard from the closed door. It sounds like someone, or something, is trying to break in.
Everyone's turn. Ederion will lose his blindness at the end of his actions.

Ederion |

"We could run! Or swim I mean... we might get hurt but..." Aster is worried they will all die down here... Ederion did mention it might be a deathtrap and all.
Ederion flails around blindly with his rapier, yet his reply to Aster is abnormally calm - "We cannot 'outswim' them Aster. Even if we could, I wouldn't know where to go. I have been blinded" - he states with an underwater chuckle.
Blind Rapier attack on where I think the sentinels may be: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 < Again, I'll leave the miss chance to you Fox, though in this case it probably does not matter.
Damage if it hits: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Aster Cobblestone |

Since Aster went early, and Tasha is now much more hurt, can I shift her action from the wand into her last remaining cure moderate wounds?
cmw: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (7, 2) + 4 = 13

DM Hell's Fox |

Ederion swings around wildly, but fails to do more than graze the dull edge of his rapier against the shells. Aster gives Tasha another healing spell to help her out, while Rexandi lobs a large spider web at one of the shell sentinels. It dodges the web by spreading out the shells and weaving between the strands of webbing. Then it converges and prepares to attack.
The mermaid keeps singing. Mermaid can't help beyond inspire courage.
Tasha and Bazzle's turn.
Sentinel reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Tasha Valenti |

Fully back to 9 to 5 now, for the foreseeable future!
As Tasha's wounds close just as they're inflicted, she turns around, giving Aster a brief, thankful look. Lunging forwards, her dagger sticks between the plates of the shell sentinel once more, the mace hopelessly bashing against the heavy shell. "Just a little more! Keep at it!", she shouts, readying for another painful lashing from the creatures.

Attack, Mace: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 10 - 2 + 1 = 11
Damage, mace, inspire: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

DM Hell's Fox |

Tasha's dagger hits and breaks a shell, but what is one shell to a mass of likely hundreds? Her mace misses it completely as it dodges out of the way. Bazzle takes aim at the uppermost sentinel and releases a bolt, but the bolt slaps the surface of the water and misses entirely.
The door burst open right off its hinges as two bodies slam through it. One of the bodies is Tarnagius, who looks to be bruised up and is in the middle of a fight with a grey human-thing with three arms. He's holding his breath and his eyes are extremely alert and frightened.
Now that Ederion has regained his sight, he manages to dodge all the attacks from one of the sentinels. The other one uses its burst of ink. Ederion and Tasha seem to fight off the poison, but Aster isn't so fortunate. She's starting to feel the effects, which is not too different from being drunk. Ederion is still impaired, Tasha is still weakened. Aster is now weakened as well. Ederion takes another bleed damage.
Everyone's turn. The black box represents total concealment.
Impaired: A character impaired by Wisdom poison does not add her Wisdom bonus to the number of uses per day of pools and abilities (such as a ki pool) and does not gain bonus spells per day from her Wisdom. She takes an additional –2 penalty on the above Wisdom-based rolls. A Wisdom-based caster reduces her DCs by an additional 2, and can no longer cast her 2 highest levels of spells.

Bazzle Blast-hazard |

I will let you two redo your actions if you want with the information given in the discussion tab.
If you are looking for an out. Assuming these giant crabs are animal-like in intelligence. Even if a bomb doesn't damage like a bludgeoning weapon. It makes a very loud likely very disruptive sound that I can't imagine a normal animal tolerating even if it took little damage. If you are looking for an out. If you are looking to have us flee Bazzle is waiting to help anyone friendly back up into the vent.

DM Hell's Fox |

Ederion, Tasha, and Aster only

Tasha Valenti |

I say there's no time like the present to make like a tree.
What's going on?, a thought crosses Tasha's addled mind, as she braces herself for a sharp lashing that doesn't come. "Is everyone okay?", she shouts out, as she begins swimming for her life towards the direction she feels her rescuers come from. "I'll go first, follow my voice!", she shouts once more, pushing all she has to make it through the water.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
If I have to roll for direction, then please do it, DM! Otherwise, taking a double move, since I can't do a run with a speed I don't have, towards the exit.
Swim: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

Aster Cobblestone |

Aster will shift in her wererat form, grab the mermaids hand and then try and follow.

DM Hell's Fox |

Yes. Maybe it's a bit muffled but you should be able to make out what they say and vice versa.
The mermaid takes Aster's hand, then races through the ink as fast as she can. She continues to sing, but now uses simple vowels rather than the complex elven words from before. All of a sudden, Ederion feels something clutch hold of his clothing and pulls him forward and up. They reach the surface to see the grate where Bazzle and Rexandi are hiding.
Tasha definitely feels the water churn around her, and can hear the singing, but isnt sure what's going on. She swims forwards for about 10 feet before finding a wall.
Both Aster and Tasha are starting to lose their decision-making and sound judgement skills. They are impaired. See the impaired spoiler above in one of my previous posts. Once you guys get out of the ink, you'll have a better chance at recovery.
Ederion: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Tasha: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Aster: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Mermaid: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Tarn: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

DM Hell's Fox |

Also the ink begins to disperse, now making a clouded area rather than an opaque one.

Aster Cobblestone |

"I'm coming!" Aster yells with magic somewhere behind Ederion. "Get Out, I'm on my way!"
swim swim swim, happy little, swim swim swim
the merry little swimming song

DM Hell's Fox |

Ederion spies Aster being carried by the mermaid. The mermaid isn't far away, maybe 5 ft from Ederion. She's looking between the door and the vent, likely to ascertain which way to escape.
The vent is 5 feet above the water, so it will take a good swimming leap to grab hold and pull oneself up. A helping hand or a rope will make the job much easier.
An otherworldly scream like some sort of feral banshee echoes across the water. It would seem that time is short.

Ederion |

"Are you ok Aster?" - the elf inquires from his friend as soon as they meet.
But then, even amidst the chaos, and multiple death threats, Ederion's smile grows huge - a mermaid!
"Miss.." - he puts in hopeful, and with the possible bow allowed by being in the water - "I am Ederion, and I am enchanted to meet you"
All puns are intended :D
Rexandi, I think if you don't have a rope, a hand will do ;)
"Ladies first" - he nods at Aster, the mermaid and Tasha, then suddenly realizing he is surrounded by ladies, which is much to his taste but also means he will be the last one up - "The ironies of being a gentleman" - he chuckles, but throws a wink at the wounded Tasha - "We will soon be out of here, Miss..?"

Tasha Valenti |

Unable to help herself despite the danger, Tasha gives the elf a smile. "I'm Tasha, pleased to meet you too.", she blurts out quickly, somersaulting down into the water, before pushing herself up to grab the ledge. "Let's leave the rest of the niceties once we're on dry land!", she adds.
Swim: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 The joys of not having an ACP will be lost to me fairly soon. Also, not sure if that gets the ledge.

DM Hell's Fox |

Bazzle and Rexandi work together to catch Tasha as she leaps out of the water and grabs hold. The two of them shuffle down the shaft to pull her up to safety. At that moment, Tasha goes into a fit of retching and vomits up even more goop from her lungs and stomach. Tasha is nauseated for 1 round, and then is sickened for the next 3 rounds thereafter.
The mermaid responds to Ederion in her singing voice (I assume you spoke in Elven) "My name is Rillia, a friend of Shensen proud and brave. Take me to the air and sun so we can flee this watery grave."
Aster and Ederion start feeling very, very drunk. They're reeling and have gotten confused about what exactly is happening. Fortunately, Tasha seems to be resisting most of the poison's effects. Aster and Ederion have hit the 3rd stage of poison: Confused.
Tarnagius surfaces and takes in a deep gasp of air. He says "The entrance isn't far. Just go through this opening and turn left and go through the open door. Then you should see it... Ederion? Are you okay?"
Weakened: A character whose awareness is weakened by Wisdom poison takes a –2 penalty on all Wisdom-based skill checks and ability checks, as well as on Will saves. A character with spellcasting based on Wisdom decreases her DCs by 2 and can no longer cast her highest level of spells.
Confused: A character who’s confused by Wisdom poison has difficulty processing reality and is dangerous to herself and others. Each round, she rolls on the chart from the confusion spell to determine her actions.

Ederion suddenly turns around in the water, staring intently at a spot where none of you see anything relevant - "Did you guys see the size of THAT chicken?!"

Aster Cobblestone |

confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 99 that's... attack closest person, which is... the mermaid.
Confusion takes hold making Aster think the tentacle woman is back and trying to grab Aster. She fumbles with her mace and tries to smash the hand that holds her.
attack, underwater, broken: 1d20 + 7 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 7 - 2 - 2 = 16 is there any concealment due to the ink
damage, half, broken: 1d4 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 2 = 6

DM Hell's Fox |

When you do half damage, don't halve the damage die. You should roll like it's a regular attack, and then divide the damage by 2.
No concealment. The ink would have disappeared by now.
Dmg: 1d8 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 2 = 9 /2 =4 (rounded down, min 1)
Rillia the mermaid gets clocked on the head by Aster as she struggles for freedom. Rillia doesn't pass out from the attack, but definitely lets go. She decides to withdraw into the back and wait.

Tasha Valenti |

The light-headedness from the creature's venom hits Tasha hard as she leaps out of the water, before chunks from her stomach start falling in the water. "Oh... Sr... Sorry", she starts saying out, before bending in half once more, hand placed firmly on her mouth. Extending her other arm downwards, her eyes practically peel open as she sees Aster smack the mermaid. As she tries to exclaim, however, a shiver in her gut makes her close her mouth, as she turns paler than wax. Okay. Okay. Getting out. Don't words. Words not good., she thinks, before moving with surprising speed down the tunnel.
Escape Artist/Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
I feel like I should make a move action to move further down, so I don't block the chute. Where was that roll when I was hitting things!

DM Hell's Fox |

Tasha wearily squeezes past Bazzle and Rexandi to make it to a 10ft drop down the chute. The goop that she vomits out expands ten fold when it hits the air, then begins to bubble and release a nasty odor.
I would like to hear what Bazzle and Rexandi want to do next. We're in quasi-initiative.

DM Hell's Fox |

Tasha suddenly feels so much better. All the sticky, slimy goop disappears from her insides, and she recovers from the terrible smell. No longer nauseated or sickened.
Ederion and Aster's heart rates sky rocket from their confusion, and reach a point that they can no longer retain consciousness. They both pass out in the water. Rillia, Tasha, and Tarnagius are all having a hard time, but they haven't reached the confused state yet.
Tasha managed to remain impaired rather than confused. Ederion and Aster are unconscious. Feel free to post thoughts using OOC, but you're out until you get another 8 hour sleep or the poison is cured. You're going to have the weirdest of dreams I'm sure, likely with a terrible hangover. Also if you're wondering, you can't die from this poison.
Tarnagius can't swim straight, but he grabs Ederion and hauls him over to Bazzle. Bazzle is going to have to make a Str check for this. He'll get +2 from Tarnagius, and can be aided by Rexandi/Tasha.
Ederion: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Tasha: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Mermaid: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Tarn: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Note: Poison 5/6

Tasha Valenti |

Waving a hand in front of her face to at least chase away some of the smell, Tasha nods gratefully at the tiefling woman seemingly responsible. That's... that's how they got me the first time... though I don't remember the barnacle things..., a thought crosses her mind as she grabs onto the gnome's leg. "I'd be happy if that came from the earth...", she quips, before nodding, indicating that she's got a good grip on the man.
Str Check, aid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Aster Cobblestone |

"Oh! Dumplings!" sleeping Aster purrs as she gobbles nibbles one after another of the decadent buttered pork filled pocket... which sadly is probably in truth seeping bits of floating left over dead tentacle woman. But don't tell her that. It would be rude.

DM Hell's Fox |

Bazzle grabs hold of Ederion while Rexandi heaves by the Gnome's legs to haul Ederion to safety. Because Ederion is as relaxed as possible, he fits in the shaft quite well. Tasha and Tarnagius resist the lingering poison for the last time, but now Rillia is swimming around all confused. She starts singing a very strange and disjointed song. Tarnagius leaves her be for now, and instead grabs Aster's floating body and gets her ready to be thrust into Bazzle's hands.
Mermaid is now confused. Poison is completely done. You will be able to shrug off its affects with sleep and time, or by magic.
Tasha: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Mermaid: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Tarn: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Mermaid confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 50

DM Hell's Fox |

Still in quasi-initiative. Bazzle will again need to make a Str check to haul Aster up.
