Because this is my first try at PbP. if anyone has any recommendations please let me know. because I am trying serval things out to find out my Own "niche". I hope everyone has fun and enjoys. Like I said originally I did this Campaign twice on table top and have a very good idea on what is lacking in the AP and some good extra encounters.

Laurent Jhaltero |

Hello everyone, I'll be using this alias to post for Laurent. Mechanically Laurent is super-Face/Skill monkey (at my planned level 17 he'll have +41 to Diplomacy). The Phantom Thief removes the sneak attack ability from the rogue, so I will be lackluster in combat. I do intend to take Skill Focus (Acrobatics) at 3 and Precise Strike at 5 so I can be somewhat useful if I'm flanking.
DM Chubbleston- I made one small change to Laurent, I moved his Escape Artist point into Knowledge (History) as I felt it fit the character better. Everything is in the alias profile. If you would like me to revert it please let me know.

DM Chubbleston |

@lirana and Aldren- since we have two clerics and yall are both neutral tell me if either of yall wanna go Harm rather than heal route. normally there isn't two. lol.
For everyone- You have this first week to make any changes on your character sheet. for any reason and I wont hold it against you. it is my policy to give one session at the gaming table but since this is posting you get one week to make any change on background, skills, abilities, etc. so talk to everyone. and see if you wanna mesh anything this week.

Lirana Caldori |

Lirana's birthmark is on the palm of her left hand. It is the reason that she will often wear gloves when she doesn't particularly want to be open about her faith.
I will be keeping her on the Heal route just because it makes the most sense for her personality and domains (Defense and Love) to heal rather than hurt.
I'll have to look over everyone else's sheets and see if I'm double up too much on skills already in the group.
Also, I am looking forward to some fun conversations with the cleric of Calistria when Lirana finds out about her boyfriend and needs to plot revenge.

Aldren Halfblood |

Hello all. Dotting in.
I could easily go harm. No problem there. Not as helpful unless I'm doing the necro-thing, but... totally works with his personality.
Very much looking forward to this.

Carawyn Ellyzig Finwinkle |

Hello all,
I'm excited to see how Carawyn works. With her archetypes, she may not be quite as efficient as other witches and I'm curious to see how she works as I think I will fairly aggressively NOT be optimizing her (I don't think, for example, I'm going to take cackle, which is a pretty standard witch choice).
Aldren, I'd say do harm if it fits with your character concept and you think it'll be fun, but it's up to you. It's probably not as useful as heal, as you note, but we do have two clerics.
--
GM, I'm happy to weigh in with some PBP tips, as I've been doing it for a while.
I'd say one thing to remember is every post takes a while, potentially 48 hours for a player to respond to your post and then you to respond back. For that reason, be careful of leaving cliff-hangers like the note Carawyn got in her first post. I'll look at it, but instead of being able to react immediately, I need to wait to see what it says. Probably would have been a good space for a spoiler (that said, I know initial posts can be time-consuming and you've just posted a lot of text, so no big deal)...

On another note, I think it's always nice to introduce ourselves.
I'm Jacob. I've been gaming since the third grade (am almost 42 now), and doing PBP for more than six years. I'm a two-time Superstar competitor (Top 16 twice) and do a lot of game design, with my first non-Superstar work recently published by Paizo.
I'm married, but my wife's at med school in the Caribbean. She finishes up two years down there at the end of April and then comes home ... until she leaves in August for 11 months in London. Despite my wife's regularly fleeing the country, I think I'm a good husband. :)
What else:
Also have a dog, who's our baby.
I'm a newspaper editor in my real-life job
I'm a die-hard Patriots fan.
I love to cook and bake...

Aldren Halfblood |

Another thing I can do is keep the heal but reorient more towards a debuffing cleric rather than healer. I'm eyeing the Divine Scourge archetype but not sure I'm wild about being restricted to the Curse domain... But picking up some hexes... nice.

Carawyn Ellyzig Finwinkle |

Carawyn will be doing some debuffing as well, though again some overlap is fine. If you want to change things up a bit (and I haven't read your background carefully), you could consider inquisitor or warpriest instead of cleric.
Some other options:
* Look for other archetypes that replace channel energy.
* See if there's a variant channel (from Ultimate Magic) that makes sense.
* I can't find it now, but I thought there was a Channel Smite type feat vs. outsiders. Perhaps that could be an option.
Or we can just have two healers, which will likely let us keep going for long days (since I think the rest of us have some options that are less constrained by daily uses).

Laurent Jhaltero |

Not much to say about myself. I've been gaming since I was in elementary school, now I'm over thirty ;).
@Aldren: Based on your character description, I'd say channeling negative is good fit for your character. Since we already have a positive energy channeler I think we'll be fine. As Carawyn said, if you want to keep positive energy you might want to take a look at the variant channeling. If you choose harm and the vengeance variant channeling, you'll deal half damage but everyone effected will get penalties on their attack rolls.
@DM Chubbles: I completely forgot to buy Larent a lute, so I've added it to his character sheet and reduced my remaining gold by the correct amount.

Joy |

I also cheer for the Patriots. My husband in from New England and I have adopted his team.
Been doing various games for quite some time now (I'm 40). I will play just about anything.
Married with two kids.
No pets.
Cooking is fun.
I read any supernatural themed book available. (Well, almost...)
I'm a stay at home and the husband is military.

DM Chubbleston |

@aldren I was thinking if you took harm the damage could look like hundreds of holes in someone like being stung by invisible wasps. I am also game for warpreist with whip for sacred weapon for more dmg. or stay heal for all day healing. any is fine I was just pointing out that you could because if we only had one healer I would say no but since we have two.
@ carawyn Ty for the advise didn't think of that. ill keep that in mind for the future. its just a different way of thinking.
I have been reading ways to speed up combat, so I will be rolling all saving throws. and initiatives and take a average of int for enemies and yall that way anyone can post when they get on. no matter what their exact int is. Please have a stat block at top with HP, class, saves, precption, int, etc. all the major things below your names.
I am 39
I am stay at home dad(former VP at bank) my wife works as a relator for the government.
I have 2 dogs
I have one Daughter
AND I CANT BELEIVE I GOT ALMOST ALL PATS FANS I LOVE THEM!!!!

motteditor RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16 |

Awesome. Who knew we'd have so many Pats fans. :)
As for rolling saves, I find that can add a lot of work to your load as a GM (especially once we get up there in levels). I tend to do OOC comments with what happens when saves are made/failed most of the time (I'll do them myself if I need to to resolve NPC actions).
I definitely like grouped initiatives. I tend to do Round 1/2 which will be full rounds for all PCs who beat the antagonist(s)' initiatives (technically Round 1 for them as they're full rounds and not surprise rounds), and then I resolve their posts, do the antagonists' actions, and then do the official Round 1 with all the PCs posting actions, which I then resolve followed by NPCs' actions. You can take a look at any of my games to see examples. I go in initiative order, but I'll delay for PCs when they would obviously want to base on other delayed actions (i.e. if they know an archer/ranged combatant is going to fire, they'll wait until after to move into melee).

Aldren Halfblood |

Thanks for the suggestion/reminder on Variant Channeling. Going with Poison/Harm for now (seems to match the theme of wasps) but open to suggestions for alternatives.
On the personal side, 40, recovering lawyer, married, we have a 15 month old son, and a 150 pound dog (that's not a typo).

Aldren Halfblood |

LOL. Maybe the next one. The dog is now 10 years old (advanced for this size) with bad back legs. He's GREAT with our son but that's something I wouldn't want to test. :-)
He's a Kuvasz, and on the larger size for the breed. They're kind of like sheepdogs. We love him a ton and he has been incredibly satisfying, but not an easy dog.

DM Chubbleston |

@Lirana oh and I was also think on how we are going to do the Charm school sanctuary. special ability. I was leaning towards just me automatically choosing when it would be used. based upon my belief if you taking the damage it would suck. tell me how you would pref it, I could also automatically do it just for the first attacks against you until it is gone. it would need to be a way that wouldn't stop the gameplay. let me know.

Berenice Bluethistle |

Good evening everyone! Sorry for not getting here sooner, I've been out of the house all day.
As far as introductions go, my name is Jacob as well, but I go by Archpaladin Zousha or just Zousha on the webz. 29 years of age, currently living with parents, single, working as an Agent-At-Your-Service at the JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America. No pets of my own, but my brother has an adorable ball python by the name of Mitch.

Aldren Halfblood |

Sorry, chubbs! I was honestly a little surprised yesterday, saw your post and then the others and I was like, "Oh my! We already started and I'm behind. Don't want people waiting on me!" [-;

Aldren Halfblood |

LOLs at B from the gameplay thread.
Guess grabbing my dagger won't be my next response... :-p

Aldren Halfblood |

LOL!

Laurent Jhaltero |

@DM Sorry if that wasn't clear in his bio, Laurent doesn't like performing publicly for money, which he considers beneath him. He is willing to do public performances for a good cause (like in this case), though he has no desire to become known as a minstrel or entertainment celebrity.

Aldren Halfblood |

@ B--promises, promises. We had a dominatrix at the House of Satin Veils who did that. Charged a lot of money.
BTW, do breastplates have cod pieces? Mental note: buy a cod piece.
I really want to respond to the "silver thing" comment but figure I should pause on writing and hogging up the board.
See y'all tomorrow. I'm enjoying this a lot!

DM Chubbleston |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I'm waiting on Laurent's action in crowd.
- then we will get to our first real combat soon. remember to use descriptive terms. Depending on how this fight and some of the others goes will depend on whether or not we will keep the format. I'll be grouping initiatives and only bot if 24 hours pass without responses on combat. I will hope that during combat we can try to post more often but things happen. so there will be no order and everyone can post at their leisure. I feel like in the opening there were very good things said and gave people a lot to build on.
Berenice don't forget to post your action in the crowd.

Aldren Halfblood |

FYI - campaign tabs aren't showing with new posts. Paizo is working on it; apparently got borked when they did an update a couple days ago. Hopefully fixed today.

Berenice Bluethistle |

I'm back, folks! BOY was that in interesting little vacation! I went to see the memorial plaque for E. Gary Gygax in Lake Geneva, and as it turns out, the resort I was staying at is where GaryCon was being held at! While we left before I could see the actual Con, I know it's there to go next year. And then we visited The House on the Rock, in all its weird glory. But now I'm back, and I'm posting! :D
