Wartorn Nordmark seems to be on the verge of recovering, though the bickering of resentful Jarls and a King determined to maintain his throne threaten to plunge the region back into chaos.

Numbers dwindling but ferocity undiminished, the spectral creatures continue an ineffectual assault against their chosen prey. Bo'asha watches with relief as its claws rake harmlessly across her icy frame, her garments safe -- for now -- from their rending frenzy. All of the others are able to easily fend away the mindless attacks with their considerable skill, save for Vort'l, whose thick frame and off-kilter bumbling always seems to narrowly place him out of harm's way.

Attack vs. Bo'asha: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Once again, s+~% rolls on Jokers thankfully! You all are up.

Since Wintergang was Shaken, I assume the new wound kills him?

Hmph. I guess so. I didn't realize wolves were this fragile. Winterfang NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"Shoo! Shoo! I have no quarrel with you! Just take the witch and go!" shouted Vort'l as he jabbed wardingly at his spectre. After observing the entity before him for a moment, a quick bit of subterfuge allowed him to put the end of his staff squarely in its face.

He was not accustomed to these prolonged feats of athleticism and it was beginning to show in the beads of sweat on his brow and in his heaving chest. He just wanted this madness to end.

This is just silly. Why do they continue to pester us? There must be a better way to make them leave.

He was panting too hard to muster a proper mumble.

I don’t know if it was overlooked, or if it didn’t apply, but if my Command Edge applies to Brandon’s wolf then it recovered from Shaken earlier, which would mean it’s still alive.

Stifling his reflex to come to his servant’s aid, Skoldir quickly takes in the battlefield, expecting to find a dead old woman and a mauled dwarf. He is surprised -- pleasantly -- to find that both are not only alive but performing admirably -- though the sight of the old woman’s witchcraft at work leaves him even more wary of her.

Seeing that his blade is not needed elsewhere, he turns to join Stennwulf in striking down the huscarl's foe.

Skoldir Fighting: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Skoldir Wild Die: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Skoldir damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

Stennwulf Fighting: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Stennwulf Wild Die: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

And I think I can safely assume Stennwulf does not need to roll damage.

Ah! It was indeed overlooked. So Winterfang is just shaken again, not dead. I'll probably forget what you all are capable of half of the time, so a friendly reminder now and then is surely welcome.

Oops. I treated that staff damage like it aced, but that wasn't the trait test part of the damage roll. So, the total damage should be 6 (if it hit with a raise) , not 8.

Winterfang Unshake: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Numbers dwindling but ferocity undiminished, the spectral creatures continue an ineffectual assault against their chosen prey. Bo'asha watches with relief as its claws rake harmlessly across her icy frame, her garments safe -- for now -- from their rending frenzy. All of the others are able to easily fend away the mindless attacks with their considerable skill, save for Vort'l, whose thick frame and off-kilter bumbling always seems to narrowly place him out of harm's way, and Winterfang, who whines in pain as a rake catches him across his right flank.

Stormreaver sneers at the specter that just threatened the life of his friend. He quickly slashes his sword at the thing in retaliation. His blade makes contact, and the creature wails loudly in response to the elf's efforts though remains intact before him.

Bo'Asha crouches with an animal-like ferocity not in keeping with her aged frame. "Now, here we go!" before releasing a volley of frozen death. The spectre before the old hrimwitch is blasted into oblivion, its form gusting outwards in a billow of dark haze before disappearing entirely.

"Shoo! Shoo! I have no quarrel with you! Just take the witch and go!" shouted Vort'l as he jabbed wardingly at his spectre. After observing the entity before him for a moment, a quick bit of subterfuge allowed him to put the end of his staff squarely in its face.

This is just silly. Why do they continue to pester us? There must be a better way to make them leave.

He was panting too hard to muster a proper mumble. The dwarf's exhausted struggle pays off, however, his handiwork with a staff fending the creature off with a few well placed thwacks and butts.

Seeing that his blade is not needed elsewhere, he turns to join Stennwulf in striking down the huscarl's foe, though is vexed to see his sword stroke come away with nothing but a wispy trail once more. The burly man seems more concerned with drawing the creature's ire away from his lord than effecting a killing stroke for the moment, delivering a few mocking blows and little else.

Round Three

Your struggle loses a tinge of desperation as you all press your advantage. Their numbers halved and reeling, an opening presents itself for a rally to put the otherworldly foes down permanently.

Three of them have been dispatched thus far. Two of the remaining three are Shaken (Vort'l and Stormreaver both managed to shake their foes) currently. You all act before the enemies, so go make them dead.

Stormreaver takes advantage of the situation and continues to press his assault, bringing his blade down right through the middle of the specter.

Winterfang manages to regroup from the previous attack it had suffered, and snarls at the remaining foes in preparation to strike again.

Recognizing that this entity was not going to yield, Vort'l decided to press his momentary advantage to send it back to its own realm.

Perhaps it will learn a lesson from this and be more willing to talk out its grievances, should it ever return.

I dunno if a 14 on the spell casting roll equates to any extra thing on damage or whathaveyou so I just left it alone.

If I remember right, this is an aspect they didn't alter from the original rules. If you declared that you wanted to apply an additional feature of the spell, it would have raised the base difficulty by 4 per feature. So, if you had done so before the roll, you could have added 2 features and still succeeded. The down side is if you don't roll the adjusted difficulty, it fizzles entirely. This aspect of the system would be really easy to cheat on this forum, so we'd just have to rely on the honor system, I guess.

Also, poke poke. Anyone still here?

Male Human (Saxa) Wounds: 0 | Pace: 6 | Parry: 5 (6) | Toughness: 5 (8) | Charisma: +2 | Bennies: 3

I is here!

I think Marshall was asking if a raise on a spell attack granted additional damage the same way a raise on a normal attack does, which is an issue I've actually never been clear on. I always house ruled "no," reasoning that spells are usually potent enough, but that's me. Mark may have other words on the matter.

Yup, I'm here. And I think both Neal and Chip are on the same page, Chip was just saying one could easily do their spell ro like me, see I'm gonna get 14, then edit my post to say "I'm going to fire three bolts, TN = 12, I succeed!" So we have to rely on the honor ststem
