Altai Iscarni |
"So...." Altai looks up from a pile of scrolls. "These two, please."
I'm buying and scribing Discern location and Trap the soul. In addition to that, I'll make See invisible permanent on myself (that'll set me back 5000 gold). Tomorrow the hunt begins!
Oh, and does anyone have a preferred planar ally? I've got an updated Gjetost under my profile, but I'm considering other allies as well. A planetar would make a pretty badass ally....
Elgan Dreadwood |
Elgan pulls out a small bag of holding and opens it. Showing the contents to the wagon owner, whose jaw almost hits the ground.
"Whut kin ah gets wit' dis? Anyting guud?" He asks innocently.
I almost never spend anything to upgrade. He has everything from the last three level-ups at least. ;)

"All my stuff is good, my rustic friend!"
He's mercane. Interdimensional merchant. He can get whatever you need, for the right price.
dungeonmaster heathy |
Squint, gnome stabbist in mercenary service to the mercane merchants, smiles, winks, and approaches Emrael.
He lights a bowl of pipeweed, and looks at her weaponry; "wow. those are mighty nice swords, miss. How do you fight indoors with them though? Seems to me you'd be smacking them into walls or ceiling supports all the dang time."
He pulls out his little shortsword, that bows and tapers elegantly like a weapon of the Hellene and looks at them in comparison.
"Guess you've got the reach though; that's never been new to me though."
Altai Iscarni |
"Oh yeah. Speaking of devastating... Gimme these four as well."
More spells! I want Delayed blast fireball, Undeath to death, Tenser's transformation and Bigby's clenched fist. I think I'll pass on magical stuff for now.
EDIT: Bought the transformation spell - it goes well with the various 'body' spells, particularly the giant form ones. It's a last resort, but still... Altai's character sheet is updated with tomorrow's memorised spells, updated Contingency etc.
Altai Iscarni |
"I need to re-summon our old ally, then figure out Beldan's whereabouts. Sadly, I must wait until tomorrow for that."
I'm inclined to call up an improved Gjetost. While a planetar is well within the parameters of the spell it almost feels like abuse - it would be better at both fighting AND spellcasting than any party member. I'd rather stay with a tried and true bruiser - it feels more honest that way, really.

The kensai is more than happy to discuss the finer points of her chosen weaponry with the wee warrior. "Sometimes, it is less about the weapon or the bearer. For me, it is about the union of myself with my sword. This sword," she indicates the one obtained from the strange self-disassembling undead woman, "is new to me, but I can feel its power. I feel that it will work with me, as well. We will see!"
In fact, if we are calling it a day, she would like to spar and practice with the sword and dancing sword combination. The gnomish warrior's input and suggestions would be welcome.
Dok |
Hearing that the group is calling it a day, as traveling goes at least, Dok and Colu will explore about 100 yards farther up the tunnel, so as to get the lay of the land, identify potential problems (spots or creatures), and be better prepared for whatever time is spent here. After that, Dok plays a game of "Chase and flee" with Colu where they stalk one another, then take turns chasing while the other tries to evade and escape.
Emrael Bladewalker |
She frowns. "I am not the traditional wielder of a blade such as this, but I have taught several over the last century. They are an honorable class of warrior - 'stealthing' would not appeal to them. But there are certainly dishonorable foes that would think nothing of an unfair advantage. I will have to consider your words."

"Heh heh.....I love them honorable guys. Stick a blade in the other guy and keep breathing. All that really matters."
Squint winks...

Nothing too interesting on the perimeter. He finds a broke wagon wheel leaning on a wall; this cavernous hall has seen extensive trade route travel.

"A discern location spell is among the most powerful means of locating creatures or objects. Nothing short of a mind blank spell or the direct intervention of a deity keeps you from learning the exact location of a single individual or object. Discern location circumvents normal means of protection from scrying or location. The spell reveals the name of the creature or object's location (place, name, business name, building name, or the like), community, county (or similar political division), country, continent, and the plane of existence where the target lies.
To find a creature with the spell, you must have seen the creature or have some item that once belonged to it. To find an object, you must have touched it at least once."
The spell reveals a place name:
The Friary of the Three Lobed Eye
in the City:
Lelag-Leng.
on the plane:
Leng.
Altai Iscarni |
"Gjetost! My friend! It is good to see you again. Looks like you have been working out?"
"... Leng? LENG?!? Where the f~$! is Leng???"
"Um, and, ah, a three-lobed eye... Yuck. This sounds neither inviting or particularly, well, normal. Having said that, considering the natures of the things that grabbed Beldan, I'm not completely surprised."
