Still don't have a clue where I am,... ;P sory. So same as before. Move to the next viable target (without moving to close to others who want to pound me!) and whale on it. UNLESS they are getting too close to Altai, in which case he moves back to the wiz to stand guard, and teh following attacks are AoO's on the first to step inside my LARGE reach! ;)
Slam, Slam, Thank you Maa'm! :)
1d20 + 18; 1d8 + 14 + 1d6 + 1d6; 1d20 + 14; 1d8 + 14 + 1d6 + 1d6; 1d20 + 18; 1d8 + 14 + 1d6 + 1d6
Altai:Thus, Elgan can reach the bugbear threatening Pip in J12, the bugbear in melee with him in K15 and the frost giant fighting Gjetost in NO 15-16.
Since the giant is dead, Elgan takes out Pip's foe at j12 with his first hit, and then hits k 15 twice, also killing that bugbear with his branchy attack.
Pip'n'Stiggy up to bat!

The new druid shapechanging is a bit more complicated than the old rules - Elgan can now, in effect, cast Beast shape III, Elemental shape IV and Plant shape III at will. As awesome as that is (those spells all rock), he now needs to look up the different monsters he wants to turn into to check for special abilities. So the new rules require a bit more paperwork, but it is also incredibly flexible.

Methinks you need to pour yourself three fingers of whiskey and crank up the Painkiller. That'll make everything better.

I wish! The alternate Shapechange is good, but not THAT good! I have a VERY specific list of effects that I gain when I assume one of my forms, My 'SLayer' form for example, can be explained as either a Dire bear, OR a Dire lion, OR etc,... but the stats I gain never vary. And I don't gain any trick feats (Rake, etc) or anything except as listed. (You can see my complete list of powers, they are copied under the shapechange spoiler on my PC Profile) IT's good, but it's no SHapechange spell!

Wild Shape (Su): At 4th level, a druid gains the ability to turn herself into any Small or Medium animal and back again once per day. Her options for new forms include all creatures with the animal type. This ability functions like the beast shape I spell, except as noted here. The effect lasts for 1 hour per druid level, or until she changes back. Changing form (to animal or back) is a standard action and doesn't provoke an attack of opportunity. The form chosen must be that of an animal with which the druid is familiar.
A druid loses her ability to speak while in animal form because she is limited to the sounds that a normal, untrained animal can make, but she can communicate normally with other animals of the same general grouping as her new form. (The normal sound a wild parrot makes is a squawk, so changing to this form does not permit speech.)
A druid can use this ability an additional time per day at 6th level and every two levels thereafter, for a total of eight times at 18th level. At 20th level, a druid can use wild shape at will. As a druid gains levels, this ability allows the druid to take on the form of larger and smaller animals, elementals, and plants. Each form expends one daily use of this ability, regardless of the form taken.
At 6th level, a druid can also use wild shape to change into a Large or Tiny animal or a Small elemental. When taking the form of an animal, a druid's wild shape now functions as beast shape II. When taking the form of an elemental, the druid's wild shape functions as elemental body I.
At 8th level, a druid can also use wild shape to change into a Huge or Diminutive animal, a Medium elemental, or a Small or Medium plant creature. When taking the form of animals, a druid's wild shape now functions as beast shape III. When taking the form of an elemental, the druid's wild shape now functions as elemental body II. When taking the form of a plant creature, the druid's wild shape functions as plant shape I.
At 10th level, a druid can also use wild shape to change into a Large elemental or a Large plant creature. When taking the form of an elemental, the druid's wild shape now functions as elemental body III. When taking the form of a plant, the druid's wild shape now functions as plant shape II.
At 12th level, a druid can also use wild shape to change into a Huge elemental or a Huge plant creature. When taking the form of an elemental, the druid's wild shape now functions as elemental body IV. When taking the form of a plant, the druid's wild shape now functions as plant shape III.
What I'm wondering about is the size limitations - the Huge plant is obviously meant to be a Treant, but can the druid opt to go for a Huge (i.e. advanced) version of, say, a Shambling Mound instead?

Elgan’s shapechange is neither the PF Wild Shape nor the standard 3.5 Wild Shape. It’s an alternate ability called ‘Shapeshift’ that is different to both. It has pros and cons compared to Wild Shape (a couple of the main pros being that he could use it from first level, and he can shift unlimited times per day. His forms (and what they can do) are far more limited though.

OK. That solves that. I thought the shapechanger variant could use the same forms as the regular druid and got unlimited uses of this in return for losing his animal companion.

There's a bugbear fighting a frost giant 10 and 15 feet away to the southeast;
Claw the golem is fighting 4 bugbears and a frost giant just closed with him to stiggy's west.
The bugbears are within 30 feet, one being meleed by Beldan, and the giant within 40 feet; I'm not sure what stiggy's hasted speed is at the moment, but if Stig could go 40 feet he'd get aoo'd by two bugbears...
South of the main group, there's a good four frost giants; all but one of these within 30 feet of elgan and the stone giant; nothing stig could reach to melee in 1 round with a single move action; so it's up to you.

Stiggy drops the bugbear; and the giant chokes up on his axe, grinning wickedly.....
PIP!!!
A lightning bolt? Always a good idear. On Stig's victim?

The bugbears at k8 and j10 attack Claw, missing.
The bugbear at l8 attacks beldan, missing.
The bugbear at j11 attacks pip, hitting twice for 16 h.p and 17 h.p, pip can roll saves for half per his power.
Now the giants.
the one at hi 8-9 attacks claw, hitting once, for 24 h.p. with a massive axe.
the one at tu 12-13 misses stiggy twice; all his smacktalking made him fumble.
the one at uv 18-19 moves to rs 12-13, and hits stiggy for 24 h.p. damage.
qr 20-21 moves to pq 14-15 and hits the stone giant Goatcheese for 28 damage.
gh 16-17 moves to jk 13-14, looming over pip, and swings at Altai, but rolls a two and misses.
de 21-22 moves to lm 15-16, attacking elgantree, and misses.
the dice gods sent me many rolls between 1-5 on a d20, and saved the sorta decent rolls to be wasted on Claw's armor class.
Group's attack, and the battle is now an in-your-face free-for-all.

Good luck Heathy!
Pip, reveling in the chaos, amps the volume
"And the wizard in the back
Said 'everyone attack!'
And it turned into an Asgard Blitz!
And the dwarf in the corner
Said 'Frosty, gonna warn ya
'it'll turn into an Asgard Blitz
Asgard Blitz ..."
I'll keep the +3 up, and Glitterdust a giant if the oppotunity presents itself ...
Altai Iscarni |
If Pip could:
A) Drop the Glitterdust in the HI 10-11 intersection in order not to blind the golem
B) Take a 5' step to L11
, I'd be very happy. Because if he does:
Altai backs away from the threatening giant, pulling his new magical staff from its holster. He points it at the swirling melee in front of him, and it erupts into fire once again.
5' step to N10. As Pip has stepped back, I can include the bugbear in K8 in the explosion. So, I'm using my Staff of fire to cast yet another Fireball. This is centered on the GH 11-12 intersection and hits the giants in HI8-9 and JK 13-4, plus the bugbears in J10, J11 and K8. It also hits Claw, but he's immune to the spell. :D Damage 10d6=34 fire, Reflex 20 for half.

Absolutely. I would assume there'd be no way Pip would want to blind Claw. I am a bit Spacially confused by this big melee.
