Make sure you don't shrink his lungs...

heh heh....I didn't think about the short (sic) amount of time the spell would work.....meh, he'll take his grande up front though, and be ready to go.

Everybody ready? For Asgard?
As the ragtag group says their farewells to Sasserine?

Oso's there, as is Gittik. There and ready to go.

Male Human Wizard 17 (Conjuration specialist)

We'll need mundane equipment, cold weather gear and stuff like that. Also, I'll buy and scribe Leomund's Secure Shelter and memorise it. That'll keep us warm and dry through the cold Asgardian nights.

Male Human Wizard 17 (Conjuration specialist)

Speaking of stuff - we really ought to get a Bag of holding. So, we get the Type I bag and fill it with skis, dry rations, a couple of barrels of booze (for trading to thirsty giants or dwarves), a canoe, 500' of rope, grappling hooks and climbing kits. The bag is 2500 gold and the rest is something like 200 gold each. So if everybody can cough up 650 gold each, we should be well-equipped. Claw can carry the bag of holding.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Hmm....skis.
Something I know nothing about, being as I grew up in Florida. Heh heh.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

huzzah!!!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Everybody ready?....

Male Human Rogue 14

Can do on the 650gp. Ready to go otherwise.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Oso tells everybody to join hands (or in Claw's case....)
in a circle.

He intones an incantation. Everything goes black, then a nimbus of light as if you are all within a rainbow.
Looking at Oso, he seems enwrapped suddenly by webs of fiber and is pulled away from the circle. Gittik grabs his leg and he too is yanked away.....

And then everything is white.
And red.....

and there is all around you the clangor of battle.
And bestial grunts, screams, oaths.....

the party is as follows:

Claw is at ij 12-13
Stiggy is at k 13
Elgan is at m13
The stone giant at no 12-13
Altai at j 14
Pip at n 14
Beldan at L 15

frost giants:
hi 5-6
no 8-9
st 8-9
ef 12-13
tu 12-13
pq 16-17
ij 18-19
uv 18-19
de 21-22
lm 21-22
and
pq 23-24

bugbears:
g4,j5,k7,
o7,
r7,
c11,f11,d14,
r12,s11,
h17,
o18,r15,
t18,u17,v16,
c20,d20,c21,
q22, r23.

Bugbears and frost giants are a-rumbling in the snow, snow everywhere, snow falling, wind screaming, battle joined.

Welcome to Asgard.
Roll initiative.

That's a 16 for them; mods and whatnot......group wins.
What do you do?

Bard 8/ Troubadour of Stars 9 Epic Shredder

Yikes!

Pip activates his starmantle ability Info:

Spoiler:
This spell manifests as a draping cloak of tiny, cascading stars that seem to flicker out before touching the ground. The cloak forms over existing apparel and sheds light as a torch.

The starmantle reneders the wearer impervious to non-magical weapon attacks and transforms any non-magical weapon or missile that strikes it into harmless light, destroying it forever.

Contact with the starmantle doesn't destroy magical weapons or missiles, but the starmantle's wearer is entitled to a DC 15 Reflex saving throw. each time he is struck. Success indicates that the wearer only takes half damage from the attack (rounded down).

The cascading cloak of stars lights up the field. He starts riffing a power arpeggio off Lucille

OK, Perform/Diplomacy: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (8) + 27 = 35 and triggering the Inspire +3 bonuses in case needed in the melody ...

"Valhalla the gods await me
Open wide thy gates embrace me.
Great hall of the battle slain
With sword in hand.
All those who stand on shore
Raise high your hands to bid a last
farewell to the Viking land!"

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

The magic works.....as the air in Asgard is breathable....
the fighting rages on as the halfling plays.

"This way!" Altai points to the northwest. "We need to avoid getting surrounded!"

Move to L12 before casting Fireball in the RS 10-11 intersection. That hits the frost giants in NO 8-9, ST 8-9 and TU 12-13, plus the bugbears in O7, R7, R12 and S13. Damage 10d6=39 fire, Reflex 20 for half. Frost giants take double damage, of course.

Advanced flesh golem shield guardian

*ROWR*

Claw lumbers into melee with the nearest giant.

Move to KL 9-10 before attacking the giant in NO 8-9. Attack roll 11+16+3(bard)=AC 30, damage 16+8+3(bard)=29.

BTW, does our giant friend have a name? Do you want to run him in combat, or should I cook up a statline for him?

Bard 8/ Troubadour of Stars 9 Epic Shredder

Shoot first ask questions later? Ogay, I'm down

Pip runs after Altai, trying to keep in the group as he keeps his inspiring chorus up. His mantle of shining stars trail away from his shoulders, flapping in the strong Asgardian winds like a neon streamer.

Don't forget them +3 ATK/DAM/CHARM/FEAR bonuses folks. Also, Pip will ready a Haste for his next action.

Y'know, I really don't see any other options... And we certainly can't remain in our current position. So, yes, we come out blasting. ;D

(It's only half again as much damage...)

the one at tu 12-13 saved for the frost giants;
the other two took 1.5x damage.

Amongst the bugbears, only r7 saves;
none fall.

Claw walks up and starts throttling the giant. He's getting pretty beat up.

you can stat him up and run him in battle; he's chaotic neutral with good tendencies (that's as good as a giant's gonna be here) but he can have celestial template and wup on evil as normal for that.
He says his name is "Gjetost." But he had a kinda snotty look on his face when he revealed that.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Gjetost, Stiggy, Beldan, and Elgan are up to bat.

There's an area devoid of snow and puddled up with muddy steaming meltoff where the fireball bursted, in a perfect fireball circle.

Does he benefit from Augment Summoning? I did summon him - however, we are also back on his home plane...

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Yeah; what the hell.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Expert 5

Cool! He's an older, tougher giant, after all.

Gjetost launches a mighty swing at the nearest enemy.

5' step to NO 11-12 before attacking the giant in NO 8-9. Attack 1: 11+19+3(bard)-3(power attack)=AC 30, damage 9+16+3(bard)+9(power attack)=37. Attack 2: 13+14+3(bard)-3(power attack)=AC 27, damage 6+16+3(bard)+9(power attack)=34.

Gjetost's profile is on Altai's character sheet. His only belongings are a greatclub and a chain shirt.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Gjetost swings twice, cracking the frost giant in the ribcage, then smashing his helmet halfway around his face as he throttles the allready crispy giant down. First drop!

Stiggy, Beldan, and Elgan are up to bat.

Beldan, Elgan and Stiggy still to go. Then it's the hordes of giants. :§

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

huzzah!!!

Male Human Rogue 14

“Shit!” Beldan huddles into his wolf-skin coat, trying to get his bearings in the falling snow and wild melee. Then the fireball explodes. As it clears, he sees his opening, and darts through the melted snow to flank and stab one of the bugbears.

Beldan darts through the snow to Q12, then attacks the bugbear next to him, flanking with the frost giant. 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (20) + 22 = 42. Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 6d6 ⇒ (6) + 4 + (3, 2, 4, 4, 5, 5) = 33 plus 6 points of bleed and 2 points of strength damage.

EDIT: crit confirm 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (10) + 22 = 32 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Beldan gives the bugbear one in the spleen; one that's gonna bleed him out eventually.

The giant, crispy from the fireballin's, giggles creepily as it happens.
A giggle like a goat, or like a man possessed of goaty Belial.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

That's Elgan and Stiggy's cueue.

Male Wild Elf Druid 16 (Shifter version, PHBII)

Elgan looks as excited as you've ever seen him as you all prepare for the journey. He is practically bouncing up and down with anticipation as you all gather with Oso for the ceremony. Cool for the 650 GP. Elgan went shopping for a couple of charms that turn any full round casting action into a standard action,(Can't remember the name NOW of course!) each is only good 1/day, so he bought a couple to get summoned critters into battle faster! :)

When Oso and Gittik vanish into teh maelstrom of magic during the transportation, Elgan almost let go of the group to jump after them, when they arrive in the midst of a battle, the elf just shakes his head as if he knew better.

"Whah am I suur prised? I KNOWED dat 'civilized' fo'k is crazee! Don' mattuh whar yeh arh, Sasserine, Asgard,... Dey is ALL crazee!" He grumbles as he tries to figure out what's going on.

He shifts into his 'Dreadwood DireBear' form, his dark fur standing out like a beacon on the white battleground. He moves to stay next to Altai and protect him until he can figure out who the bad guys are.

As a druid, he doesn't (necessarily) automatically figure that the gnolls are the bad guys! So he'll protect Altai from a direct attack until he reads the scorecard. (and with his reach, anything aiming for Altai will take at least an AoO first!)

So, basically, shift, move, delay,... ;)

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Right on; I'll put Elgan in lm 13-14, and slightly shift Stiggy to....n13.

The giants look somewhat awestruck; one says, "birsarkr!" The bugbears just look hungry and insane.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

STIGGY!!!!!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

On the eastern sky, the thunder pulses once....twice....silently.
Giants make warding symbols, their equivalents of Catholics crossing themselves.....in not entirely superstitious fear of the thunderer.
Even Gjetost does it.....
and the snow plummets in weighty, wet gobs en masse from the sky that pelts heads with surprising, audible "thaps."

Shit yeah, that bugbear has taken 86 points of damage unless there’s something weird going on (immunity to fire or sneak attacks or something).

No wonder they’re cool with fighting frost giants.

I see Pip's +3, anything else kickin in? Am I killing bugbears, frost giants, or both?

Male Human Wizard 17 (Conjuration specialist)

Pip's bonuses are the only ones currently in effect. We're trying to cut our way out of the fight; we're killing both bugbears and frost giants, but we do so in a specific direction (northeast). :D

Attacking N-O/8-9, charge to m10... which way is northeast?

power attack 1d20 + 20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 20 + 2 + 3 = 31
dam 2d6 + 24 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3) + 24 + 3 = 34

I guess I'll go to k17 if that's northeast.

Stigwold Mæch'Hæmmær wrote:

Top right corner.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

N.O. 8-9 got kilt allready by the stone giant;
S.T. 8-9 is northwest and is reachable without any aoo's...

The frost giant is pretty effed up after stig hits him; stig to r9, but he's still in the fight.

Their go:

Giant at HI 5-6 kills the bugbear at g4, then gets hit once by bugbear at j5.

the bugbear at k7 five foots it to k8, takes an aoo from the giant, and hits claw once for 21 h.p. with a +1 magic weapon; greataxe.

bugbear at o7 moves to m9, hits claw for 18 h.p. with a +1 magic weapon; two handed; greatsword.

r1 bugbear hits stiggy's giant, stiggy's giant hits stiggy missing once hitting once, 24 h.p to stiggy.

Three bugbears drop the giant at ef 12-13, and leer at Altai.

Beldan's bugbear misses beldan, and is cut down by the giant at tu 12-13. The bugbear at s11 hits that giant.

The giant at ij 18-19 kills the bugbear at h17.

The giant at lm 21-22 moves up on Elgan, hits the elf for 23 h.p. and is now at lm 15-16.

The giant at pq 16-17 kills the bugbear at q15, and hits the bugbear at o18, which moves to n15 attacking Pip once; 12 h.p. in damage; remind self to look at Pip's star powers and adjust.
Okay....Pip gets a reflex d.c. 15 to save vs. that hit or take half.

The bugbears against the giant at uv 18-19 hit him; he hits them; none fall.....

The giant at de 21-22 fells the bugbears at c20 and c21, and is wounded by the one at d20 somewhat.

The bugbears at q 22 and r 23 run ; that giant swats one of them; they get to k 14 and k15. That frost giant laughs.

15 hostile bugbears, and 9 giants yet stand. Group's attack.....

Since I forgot the roll by now, rolling again, he hit elgan; same damage 12 h.p.
