Altai Iscarni |

Magical effects, including remaining spells from the last fights and spells I'll cast now:
Beldan - Align Weapon, Bulls Strength, Prot vs Evil, Haste, Fly, drinks Potion of invisibility
Gittik - Fly, Align Weapon (2), Prot vs Evil, Haste, drinks Potion of invisibility
Oso - Magic Circle vs Evil, True Seeing, Comprehend Languages, Haste
Pip - Air Walk, Eagles Splendour
Stig - Enlarge person, Stoneskin, Protection from evil, Haste, drinks Potion of mirror image
Altai - Form of the brass dragon I, See invisible, drinks Potion of fire resistance
Elgan - ?
Sequencing:
* Up to turn T-3: General buffing and potion-swilling
* Turn T-3: Altai casts Summon monster V, calling up 2 xills. Elgan sommons a critter
* Turn T-2: Altai casts Summon monster V, calling up 2 more xills, Elgan sommons a critter and Pip casts Haste on the party. As Pip can haste up to 11 creatures, he speeds up the 4 xills, Oso, Gittik, Beldan, Stig, Elgan and Elgans two summoned monsters. Pip and Atai remain at normal speed.
* Turn T-1: Altai starts casting Summon monster VI. Everybody assumes starting positions (Beldan and Gittik start off flying invisibly right under the ceiling).
* Turn T: Altai summons a Huge earth elemental. Pip plays bardic music, giving everybody a +3 bonus to attack and damage. Claw pushes open the door from behind the corner; he stays out of sight. The four xills shift into the ethereal plane and attacks the ghostly Graz'zt thingy. General shit hits the fan.
Also, as Beldan and Gittik will try to kill off Vimanda assassin-style, it would be most practical if Mothers ran Gittik for this encounter.

a-u top
1-11 down the side.this massive chamber goes from a-p, then forms an eastern wall 1-4 and 8-11 on p, with q-u 5-7 as an entry hallway, with doors at u5-7.
At s5 there's a tall wedding cake, with a live pair of bride and groom pixies staked to it.
At gh 4-5 stands a giantess with dark skin and smoldering dark eyes; she's not like anything common. She holds a greatsword and wears full plate, as does the fire giant groom at gh 7-8.
At e6 stands a mansized ghostly form with a greatsword identical to Graz'zt's avatar's sword from so long ago.....it's an ethereal, female form dressed in sheer silks.
At b5-7 is a throne; on it sits a fox headed woman; around her wander three drow in silk gowns, smiling, singing to the small spinning spiders that are wrapping this room up like a gossamer wonderland.
There's a sitar player next to Vimanda, and a few other desultory servants and concubines gathered nearby.
They're all staring at the door, the three with swords have weapons at the ready. Vimanda sits on her cushions, her tail lazily lolling from side to side.
In addition to all this,....
the room you found the gimp in is v-z, 5-9....with a hallway out at x 10, 11, 12, and onward maybe 100 feet.
Where is everybody during the buffing, and where are the summoned new friends going?

Altai Iscarni |

That's a tight fit! Claw pushes open the door just as the elemental appears. So...
Altai: On the west wall in brass dragon form in V9
Claw: VW 8-9
The Huge elemental: TUV 5-7, blocking line of sight to the rest of us
Xills: X9, X10, Y9, Z9
Large Stig: YZ 5-6
Pip: X11
Oso: X8
Elgan: X7
Elgan's summoned monsters: WX 5-6 and YZ 7-8
Gittik and Beldan start flying invisibly above Claw in V8 and W8

I have long felt that Eaters of the dead should be regartded as the authoritative guide to all things Norwegian. ;P
good, cos other than a great grandparent and a trip to Norway when I was three, and a Heroes of Asgard Fairytale book, that's all I know.

Altai Iscarni |

I think walls block line of sight. Just one "ghost thing" at e6.
Makes sense.
The gaggle of xills gradually fade out of Oerthly existence. As they rematerialise in the ether, they stalk towards the ophidian blackguard, alien warcries echoing through the otherworldly mists.
The xills spent the last turn and this turn shifting to the Ethereal plane; so much for me thinking it was instant... It was worth giving them haste and bardic bonuses, though. Next round they're off chasing the ghost.

Altai Iscarni |

Xills are creepy enough already with the paralysis and implant schtick. If they could insta-jump to and from the ether it would probably be a bit too much.
Depending on the speed of Elgan's allies, the earth elemental will either earthglide out of their way or just rumble towards the giants. It is too slow to reach anyone (except for the cake-pixies) this turn.

Elgan Dreadwood |

Tired, long week, and weekend not any shorter,...Ok, let me see,... Let's summon one jolly green giant (lvl 6 spell, stats already on Heathy's page I think) And one dire wolf (lv 4, need to apply Greenbound template)

Altai Iscarni |

With a subsonic rumble, the earth elemental lurches forward, splattering the wedding cake all over the wall.
Move to NOP 5-7. That'll give anyone who wants to room to squeeze around it on the corners.
Elgan, Oso, Gittik and Beldan to go.
As for the plant monsters, Entangle won't work here (not to mention that it would be useless against such big, strong opponents). Wall of thorns, however, has some serious potential to mess with the giants' mobility, especially if cast by the Jolly Green Giant (who is CL 12).

Oso Legumbe |

Oso steps forward to behind the cake and casts prayer. "Luck to my friends and woe to our enemies."

Just one earth elemental - it moved down the hallway.

Stig gets down there to rs 5-6.

The ghostly guy at e6 curses a long blue streak about Grazz't doing something vulgar to the Kelananite Vestal Virgins.

Elgan Dreadwood |

No posting at work Heath? What's up with that? Next thing you know, they'll be expecting you to do WORK at work! Sheesh! ;P
Ok, my map is fubar'd, help me out here guys. I don't think that either of my LArge summoned will be able to squeeze past Claw, so should they move up and just 'wall of thorns' the heck out of everything together? ELgan is open to suggestions about his actual actions. He'll happily engage, or stay back and cast/guard, but he;d rather NOT take them on alone! ;P

Altai Iscarni |

There's plenty of room to move past poor ol' Claw (he's in VW 8-9). My suggestions: Elgan hits the two giants with Ice storm - the cold part does double damage vs the fire giant and the hail should damage both of them. The wolf moves to TU 6-7 and the plant giant to VW 6-7 (i.e. standing in line after Stig and the ginormous elemental) - then the Jolly Green Giant casts Wall of thorns to completely hedge in the abyssal giant (it has 24 10x10x5' cubes worth of thorny walls, more than enough to completely wall it in). It probably won't hold her in for very long, but every turn she's not throwing rocks at us or cutting us up is a turn well spent.

Elgan Dreadwood |

Ah, Thanks VAtt! (I'm just brain-dead and tired-dumb today) ;P
OK, AS Altai said above, Elgan will Ice storm, (Note, I burned my Wall/Stone for the Jolly green giant, and Spike stones for the Green Dire Wolf) and 'Jolly' will Wall/Thorns up the BBG. (If thw wolf Wall/thorns up the exact same area, does it double the spell. or increase the DC, what? Just curious)
I see (in my mind's eye, where everything cool always seems to happen) A rock-tossing battle between 'Jolly' (who has improved catch/toss) and the BBG, where they toss this big @$$ rock back-and-forth at each other, and the first one to miss catching it gets slammed! :)
ICE STORM
Bludg:
3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5) = 12
Cold:
2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7

Altai Iscarni |

The Ice storm is centered in I6: it hits both giants and the ghost in E6 (though I doubt it'll do anything to it). I thought about dropping it in E6 and hitting Vimanda as well, but that would decimate the various red shirts milling about; importantly, it does not hit Gittik or Beldan. The Wall of thorns fills these squares: IJ 3-6 to a height of 20', plus F 3-6, G3, G6, H3 and H6 to a height of 10'. The snow and sudden hedge-growth plays havoc with line of sight from Vimanda to the main party, but Beldan and Gittik are, once again, in the clear.
And then... it is them.

dungeonmaster heathy |

Snow doesn't seem to bother the ghostly one.
He waves his hand dismissively, nonchalantly to the elemental. It disappears.
The fire giant runs up to op 5-6, slashing out at Stiggy with his mighty sword. Stiggy takes 28 h.p. damage.
The giantess in the thorns cannot press free, and she bellows ominously.
Vimanda runs straight through the ice storm at Stiggy. She tumbles through his aoo zone, ends up at q7, and crits him with a shocking kukri. 21 h.p. in damage.
Group's up.
