Yazi |
Yazi! You must immediately spend the night with a different partner or be cursed to rolling nat 1s until level 35, lol!
Deal.
Bartan Harrowborn |
Given that Anjali said on the discussion forum that she'll be gone most of the day, you can probably bot her, Hadassa. Perhaps a doom on the birdy?

Hajar nar Jundi |
Round 2
Hajar swings again Tempest: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Tempest: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 2) + 5 = 11 this time with more certainty at its weight and balance.
Khayal Bin Haleen |
Khayal repeats his attack. In battle you win the fight before you pull out the bandaids.
Kukri: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 111d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Kukri: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
This is going poorly.
Yazi |
Letting out a howl of pain Yazi steps lightly to the side to the get out the flank and attack Hajar's Gnoll. Took a 5ft step.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 1) + 4 = 9
Bartan Harrowborn |
"I knew that harpy was up to no good!"
Bartan draws another card from his harrow deck, casting a spell while doing so.
Harrow card: 1d28 ⇒ 6 => The Marriage (Lawful Neutral, Charisma)
"Foul creatures, leave her alone! She and I are in love!" He's getting clingy Yazi! Better watch out! :-P
Card throw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 at gnoll A MISS! NOOO!
damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 plus shocking grasp: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6) = 15 electricity
Bartan then jumps down to the ground from his perch in the tree. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 to land on his feet FAIL! Lands prone and takes falling: 1d6 ⇒ 1 damage!
Yazi |
From his continued accusations of the Harpy to his surprising declaration of love to falling flat on his face all Yazi can muster in response is to close her eyes and pinch the ridge of her nose in frustration.
Dhavyn Barr |
Dhavyn's jubilation is short lived as the bird retaliates with vengeful speed. His next spell ends into a short surprised gurgle as bird's claws tear into unprotected flesh, flaying skin and shredding into organs. He crumbles into a blood-soaked heap and remains dying.
Stabilization: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
-1 hp next round unless revived (taking roll in advance)
Nm. Gotta run for a bit so doing this now. You probably wish to do the burst healing even if it hits the bird. Anjali would take AOO if she tries to reach Khayal with clw and I'm likely to miss even if I get revived. If she rolls high enough I do another post. I took roll for round 3 in advance in case there are complications so I don't hold the round.
Avenka Thalma |
Avenka thinks fast for a second and sees Dhavyn dying, so she decides Anjali and Khayal will have to be enough for now VS the bird.
She is willing to receive AOO to go to the sorcerer's body and move him away, trying to shield him with her back to the bird.
Str check to carry Dhavyn: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Avenka Thalma |
If not able to carry him, she'll try to drag him on the ground. Hadassa, I'll be away for most of the night now, so would you be able to move me and Dhavyn as far away as possible if I succeed my check ? Thanks :)

If I made no errors, then...
Adria Darkling |

Khayal beak bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 for 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 HIT!
Khayal talon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 for 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 HIT!

MAP UPDATED. Yazi is dying bad. Khayal is at 2hp.
Round 3
--------------------
Monsters
---------------------
Dhavyn Barr |
ROUND2 ACTIONS
Dhavyn regains consciousness thanks to Anjali's healing. He groans from pain as Avenka's helpful attempts to drag him into safer location. Using Avenka's aid he pulls away from the bird and whispers
מאַגע אַרמאָר erecting a protective shielding around his body.
Appreciated Avenka and well roleplayed. I'm pretty safe now though since I recovered enough hp to get into positive. I still have all my actions for round two so taking 5' drag (Avenka's aid), standing up (move), and casting mage armor. The stabilization roll was for round 3 and not needed now anyway. I've got 1 hp. Avenka shields me from birdie now I think, and I'm out of it AOO range now anyway.
ROUND 3 ACTIONS
Staggering away from Avenka Dhavyn heads towards Anjali. Careful not to hit Avenka or Khayal with his spell Dhavyn directs the fan of flame towards the lake but still catching the bird within its vengeful inferno. "Finish it Avenka!" he croaks.
Burning Hands: 3d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) = 8
Move action. Please place me so that the edge of 15ft cone touches birdy. I'd appreciate it if Avenka would take 5 foot step to hit the beastie and to guarantee both she and khayal get aoo if it decides to chase. DC15 for bhands. Edit: sorry for multiple updates but my connection is spotty here so I had to rewrite twice.
Bartan Harrowborn |
Moved Dhavyn where he wants to be.
"Yazi!!!"
Bartan stands up, casts a spell and hurls a harrow card at C.
Harrow card: 1d27 ⇒ 1 => The Theater (Neutral Good, Charisma)
"Though I may not be able to turn the tide of this battle on my own, prophecy dictates that you will be destroyed!!"
Card throw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 plus ray of frost: 1d3 ⇒ 3 cold
Only a total of 8 damage, not good enough!
Hajar nar Jundi |
By the Dawn's light! Hajar says as he steps over the corpse of the gnoll and touches Yazi's slumping form. LoH: 1d6 ⇒ 2
5' step into the square that the gnoll occupied, standard action lay on hands for yazi, so she doesn't die.

Round 3
--------------------
Monsters
----------------------
If Khayal and Avenka don't kill the bird this round things are gonna start looking grim:(
Anjali Nejem |
Anjali's looks around, pained at the decision she has to make. On both sides of the water, someone needs her healing. But she quickly realizes she cannot possibly position herself to heal everyone this time. The crossbow she clutches in her hands is useless.
Biting her lip hard, she watches Dhavyn stagger towards her. "ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ 'ਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ. ਅਸ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਅੱਗ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ."
"Dhavyndor, stay strong. Stay by me. We need your fire!"
Khayal has also taken grave injuries from the creature. Anjali's choice is suddenly made for her. If I save these two, then we may buy enough time for me to heal the other. She moves a few steps, desperately thrusting her hand up as the words of healing rush out of her.
Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Adria Darkling |
Khayal, may I assume you spend round 3 moving toward Hajar and Yazi? Khayal double moves toward his friends. You are now a 5 ft step due east from "d".
The Gnolls move in 5 ft steps to flank Hajar
b: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
c: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Hit! Hajar at 12/22. Map updated.
Round 4
--------------------
Monsters
----------------------
Dhavyn Barr |
Still shaken from his near death experience but determined to aid the others Dhavyn staggers towards the Gnolls His gait grows steadier as more of Anjali's power washes over him knitting flesh and bone.
Skipping across the rocky path formed by the stones he gathers his power unleashing a fiery beam at the Gnoll B. Bolstered by Anjali's words the searing beam strikes past Khayal and hits the Gnoll in the chest. The air is filled with sudden smell of burnt fur.
Ray of Fire: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 3 - 4 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
I kind of assume 16 hits since Bartan hit with 16. Could someone move my mini? 2 SW (for 15 in total) then 3W please.
Khayal Bin Haleen |
You may always assume I run towards trouble ;)
Khayal closes the short distance between him and 'd'.
He slashes with both Kukris, smiling as they whistle through the air.
Kukri: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 101d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Kukri: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
He frowns as nither blade homes true.
Bartan Harrowborn |
Hoping to finish off gnoll C, Bartan pulls another harrow card, praying to Irez under his breath that it will strike true.
Harrow card: 1d26 ⇒ 22 => The Betrayal (Neutral Evil, Charisma)
"The betrayal of your beautiful friend, the harpy, will be avenge through your blood!"
The card frosts over a bit, and as he throws it the card seems to take on the shape of a dagger, veering in an arc to "stab" the gnoll directly in the back.
Card throw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 plus ray of frost: 1d3 ⇒ 1 cold
Hajar nar Jundi |
Round 4
Lady of the Morning give me strength! Hajar says softly as he raises Tempest.
The healing power of the sun washes over him.
LoH: 1d6 ⇒ 5
And he swings Tempest at the gnoll to his right C Tempest: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Tempest: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 3) + 5 = 12
Dhavyn Barr |
Gasping for breath after all exertion Dhavyn answers to Avenka tersely "I nearly got eviscerated only to be pulled back together mere moments later, and I've channeled enough energy to set a small house on fire... I'm exhausted, in no insignificant amount of pain, and my clothes are in shreds. So no. I'm not "okay"... but I'll survive."
He draws another gasp and gathers more power even as his allies cut into remaining Gnolls with a spell and a blade alike. "Impressive work on the bird nevertheless. Now let's finish these pests." he adds.
Remaining Spell Track Edit: 1st: 1 / Fire rays: 5. Mage armor time remaining: ~2h, Endure elements running.
Hadassa |
Gnoll C dies a miserable death by Bartan's card and Tempest. And gnoll D is turned into shishka-gnoll...
Avenka round 5 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
...and finished off as Anvenka smashes it's head ending the combat.
nice battle.
Khayal Bin Haleen |
With the battle over Khayal estimates the amount of time they have before the next response. It took them half an hour to respond, part of that time was mounting a response. If it took them 30 minutes to get here, it would take them less to return. They will be expected back soon. We have two choices, wait for the next group but be more prepared or fall back and strike again later. Either way we must make our decision now.
Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar looks around, We could face them here in ground of our own choosing, or down there on their terms. Hajar, seeing Yazi still unconscious lays his hands on her
Blessed Sarenrae, Heal this one, return her to walk in the Light!
Loh: 1d6 ⇒ 2
LoH: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Yazi, Angel healed you for 6 and I used 3 LoH on you for a total of 5, I think you should be up now right?
Khayal Bin Haleen |
I like this ground better as well. We must be more prepared for their counter attack. I for one was not expecting a giant bird.
Yazi |
Yep! At 1 right now, thankies Angel and Sunny :3
Coming too Yazi immediately begins mumbling "Quick! The Crystal can help us... Oh, everything else is dead. Still, I do believe the original inhabitant of these waters is in there."
Hadassa is the water too deep to walk through?
Dhavyn Barr |
Dhavyn sits wearily on a nearby rock mumbling spells to clean the clothes saturated with his own blood.
"I don't know how you people can be so chipper. I and Yazi both nearly died and she looks like a mere breeze could keel her over... If not for Anjali we would likely be dead." Dhavyn states borrowing a proverb he heard from one of the sailors while still within the relative safety of the Dancing Nereid.
He watches sadly the hole torn into the fabric and runs his fingers across the freshly knit wound.
"We need to get somewhere safe. That much I agree" he adds but makes no particular effort to move.
Sheesh. All you professional soldiers. Nearly dying is scary. Give guy a break here! :)
Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan is shaken up as well, by the near-death of his... friend Yazi. He walks up to her and asks "Are you alright? I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you." He blushes and hurriedly adds "or any of you!"
