Knowledge (Religion) on the undead: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Cursing under her breath for being too far away Yazi will move into the fray to provide Hajar some assistance. Double moved, ish all I got.

Bartan Harrowborn |

Knowledge(planes): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 to determine the demon's resistances. Probably not enough
Bartan moves out from behind the cover of the wall, uses a Swift action to charge his partial harrow deck with pure magical energy, and then begins casting a spell.
He then pulls a card from the deck. Harrow card: 1d24 ⇒ 19 => The Twin (True Neutral, Charisma) Matches my alignment on one axis, critical chance 19-20
"Your own power will be turned against you by the Twin!"
Bartan throws the card toward the demon, heedless of those around him, and as it flies toward him it seems to take on the shape of the demon himself, while also icing over with a sheen of frost.
Card throw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 plus Snowball: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3) = 14 cold
Spell Resistance: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Unfortunately, the card flies wildly, missing the demon entirely. Good thing I didn't use Reckless Aim, since you guys are all around it! LOL

Hadassa |

Yazi and Bartan piece together the resistances you are all facing:
Halruun
+2 turn resistance; DR 5/magic and silver;
Kezurkian
DR 5/cold iron or good; Immune disease, electricity, poison; Resist acid 10, cold 10, fire 10; SR14

Dhavyn Barr |

Dhavyn peers around the wall at the lich and others. He pulls back a little, intoning מאַגיש מיססילע, before leaning back. His eyes focus on the skeletal undead and with a quick twist of fingers he launches two magical darts at the monstrosity.
Unfortunately the undead's presence seems to disturb the energies within the missiles and the impact does very little damage.
Magic Missile 1: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Magic Missile 2: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Khayal Bin Haleen |

Khayal charges the former high priest.
He swings with his Kukri eager to get a hit, Kukri: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 241d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10subtract 2 from to hit if a charge was not possible. Pretty sure I hit either way.
His sword slashes home, right into its ribs.

My turn...

![]() |

The skeleton opens his hand and a ball of light rises slowly, ominously into the air. At about 30 ft it bursts into a multicolored explosion of leaping, ricocheting energy. chaos hammer! 2d8 ⇒ (7, 4) = 11 damage if you are lawful or neutral...
DC19

Kazurkian attacks
Hajar 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 for 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
then Yazi 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 for 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
then it swings it's mighty horns back at Hajar, attempting to gore him...
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
but you all deftly sidestep it's whirlwind attack...

Round 2

don't forget your saves for Chaos Hammer!

Dhavyn Barr |

Dhavyn staggers in back slightly as the energy passes through him. He shakes his head, largely unharmed, and prepares to counter.
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Actually nm. You wouldn't call for saves if it didn't affect all, and it was probably SU ability, and not spell. I hope it casts spell though because I just readied magic missile for interrupt - that chaos hammer did not draw aoo though so... hmm. Also if that ability mimics chaos hammer (whatever it was) I take only half damage even on a failed save (I'm neutral) and I'm not slowed either, right?

Hajar nar Jundi |

That first attack hits Hajar for 9, his ac is -2 for the charge.
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Gritting his teeth against the pain of the spell Hajar beseeches his Lady for healing.
Swift ActionLoH: 1d6 ⇒ 5
He swings Tempest with all his might against the evil cleric
Tempest: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 Tempest: 2d4 + 12 ⇒ (3, 3) + 12 = 18

Hajar nar Jundi |

Nixie its been my experience that the GM should roll AoO's else things become very confused.

Bartan Harrowborn |

Luckily Bartan is Chaotic, so the spell does not affect him.
He pulls out the pearl that the party found earlier, recalling the spell he just cast.
"May this card fly true." He pulls a card and throws it, this time at the skeleton.
Harrow card: 1d23 ⇒ 6 = The Keep (Neutral Good, Strength) Does not match my alignment, no special effect.
"The Keep will shelter us against these foul creatures."
Card throw: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 7 - 4 = 16 (-4 from soft cover)
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 plus Snowball: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4) = 9 cold

Anjali Nejem |

Anjali slips closer to the fighting and channels energy through her. This time however, she focuses not on healing her comrades, but rather doing damage to the undead they face.
Channel Energy: Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Hadassa, you already went into round 2 before Anjali can act, so can she just use her Bless spell for round 2?

Khayal Bin Haleen |

Khayal continues his assault on the former high priest.
Kukri: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 291d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Kukri: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 251d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Crit on swing one: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 121d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Doubt the crit confirmed but I'll take two max damage hits.
A couple beads of sweat form on Khayal's brow as he becomes a whirl of motion.

![]() |

Yazi's hair stands on end all over her body as the chaotic energies wash over. Invigorated by the magic she'll take a step up to the undead priest and take a swing. 5-foot step to be adjacent to Halruun.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Assuming the position she is now in provides her with a flank by Avenka.
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 5) + 4 = 10

Dhavyn Barr |

Dhavyn continues watching the undead creature, gathering his power while looking for any signs of spellcasting.
Just confirming that readied magic missile. Oh and before it comes up: concentration check per missile or after total damage? This is one of those fuzzy cases where DM ruling is required.

Bartan Harrowborn |

Dhavyn continues watching the undead creature, gathering his power while looking for any signs of spellcasting.
Just confirming that readied magic missile. Oh and before it comes up: concentration check per missile or after total damage? This is one of those fuzzy cases where DM ruling is required.
Even if it's after each missile, the second concentration check would include the damage from both missiles (since the rule is the DC becomes 10 + the amount of damage taken during the casting), so then you'd be requiring two concentration checks, one of which is as high as the single one, so that's not really fair to the monster.

Anjali Nejem |

Anjali bows her head, focusing on a spell that would help her allies gain an advantage in their fighting. Both her arms sweep around to encompass her companions around her. In her flametongue she brings forth the words to give them courage.
Casting Bless, +1 on attack rolls for everyone and saves vs. fear, 30 rounds.

Avenka Thalma |

Avenka did not take damage from Chaos hammer (CG), and she holds position to allow both Hajar and Yazi the possibility of flanking bonus.
She rages and attacks the skeleton first :
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28 including -1 penalty because power attack, +2 for flanking, and +1 for Anjali's bonus
Damage: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 including powerful blow (+1) + power attack (+3)
Great, I assume it hits, so she'll cleave
Then she attacks the other creature :
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 including -1 penalty because power attack, +2 for flanking, and Anjali's bonus
Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 including power attack (+3)
For the cleave part, I'm not sure if I had to reroll another attack, so maybe the first roll only counts : As a full-round action, make a single melee attack against a foe within reach. If you hit, you deal damage normally and can make an additional attack (at the same bonus) against a foe that is adjacent to the first and also within reach. Both of these attacks are made at your highest attack bonus. You can only make one additional attack per round with this feat.

Also, Dhayn posted a readied action. So his turn is over also.

Wow, Avenka I SWEAR your post wasn't there when I did that summary. You killed him!
Avenka smashes the skull of the skeletal creature. It howls and dies.
You expect the horned demon dissapear once the creature who summoned it dies, but it does not...Kazurkian continues to fight! Obviously Halruun was not the summoner...
Kazurkian attacks
Hajar 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 for 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
then Yazi 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 for 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 HIT
then it swings it's mighty horns back at Hajar, attempting to gore him...
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 HIT

Round 3

Monsters; Kezurkian -0

Anjali Nejem |

Realizing that both Hajar and Yazi are hit, Anjali scrambles to find a better spot to heal both of them. Looking around, she quickly realizes that healing them both would not be possible without also healing their foe.
She opts to step up and heal Yazi instead.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 = 6hp for Yazi.

Hajar nar Jundi |

Hajar grits his teeth against the blow from the demon and swings Tempest!
Tempest: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 but he fails to strike the beast.
He calls on his Lady for healing LoH: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Khayal Bin Haleen |

Khayal shifts over Five foot step and attacks Kazurkian.
Kukri: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 121d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Kukri: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 121d4 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Khayal misses twice.

Bartan Harrowborn |

Knowing that the demon's resistances will make much of the damage he may be able to do moot, Bartan opts to try to slow the beast, and pulls out a scroll of snowball and casts it, hurling the ball of ice that forms in his hand directly at the demon's face!
Ranged touch: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20 +2 from Reckless Aim this time, -2 AC til next round!
Snowball (CL2): 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 6) + 1 = 9 cold damage (+1 from Point Blank Shot) and DC 12 Fort save or staggered for 1 round, SR does not apply

![]() |

Yazi lets out a howl as the demon's claws tear into her but the pain is briefer than what she had expected as a warm comforting feeling flows from a soft touch to her back all throughout her body, closing most of the wound. That feels like Angel... she DOES like me! With a smirk starting to creep its way across her face she will take a swing at their remaining opponent.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7

Avenka Thalma |

Avenka attacks, yelling unintelligibly :
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 (rage +2, flank +2, Anjali bonus +1, power attack -1)
Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 (rage +2, power attack + 3)

Dhavyn Barr |

Dhavyn completes the incantation he was saving for the undead and launches the two bolts of energy at the demon instead.
Magic Missile 1: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Magic Missile 2: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Hadassa |

Kazurkian attacks
Avenka 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 for 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 HIT
then Yazi 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 for 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
then it swings it's mighty horns back at Hajar, attempting to gore him...
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Kazurkian: 3/39HP ramaining
Round 3
--------------------
Monsters
----------------------
Combat ends if you guys hit for 3.
Well i'm packing so I am going to say i'm officially on vacation now. Please be patient with my slow post rate for a few weeks!
Nothing further stands in your way of entering the old ruined church.
ruin still stand, but the interior walls have been demolished
and gutted. Several skeletons litter the structure’s interior,
including about a dozen garbed in the red-chitin livery of
the Pactmaster Guard. The rest appear
to have been clerics of Sarenrae or
even common citizens, though the
past 20 years have rotted away most
of the skin and clothes worn
by the corpses. Ash and fire
stains the interior walls and
ceiling throughout most of the
structure, and signs of violent
battle are everywhere.
Near the center of the church
stands a forlorn stairwell that
leads down to a heavily barred
door. A strange metal plate with
a glowing series of irregularly
etched lines mars the surface of
the door, casting the stairs in a
dull red illumination.

Bartan Harrowborn |

"Take this!" Bartan yells, hoping to take out the foul creature with a card to the face!
Harrow card: 1d22 ⇒ 5 => The Beating (Neutral Evil, Strength) Doesn't match my alignment, no special effects
Card throw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
ARRGH that's ONE LESS damage than I needed to do!! LOL

Khayal Bin Haleen |

Not sure if the 16 hit, if not...
Kukri: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 101d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Kukri: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 241d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Khayal enters the church and after looking around his attention is drawn to the door down the stairs. The glow, what type of fell magic is this?

Hadassa |

Okay, let's kick it off. You guys have not reached the glowing door yet...First you must navigate...THE CRYPT!
MAP UPDATED.
From inside the church you find a dark doorway which opens onto a staircase leading down. As you descend...
The stairs lead to a rounded stone-walled chamber with a
featureless door in the north wall. A ten-foot-diameter circle
of mortared stones at the center of the room marks a well that
descends even deeper into the earth. Next to the well, on a
small pedestal, is a large gong. A short stick capped with a
round pad of moldering leather dangles from a cord attached
to the gong platform.

Bartan Harrowborn |

Bartan casts detect magic. Is the gong magical? If so,
Knowledge(arcana): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Is there any indication what would happen if we hit the gong with the stick?
