Knowledge of the Realms
I have not seen another PbP do this, but I have often does this for my own. Every day, you can make a Knowledge roll to try and learn something new about the Realms. Perhaps you wish to know more about a certain nation? The races? Nobility? Ask a question, make the roll, and I will answer that question.

Remember, only a single roll per 24h.

This rewards players using the Knowledge skills, of which I fear not much is used for.

Male Gravebound Alchemist 3 [HP: 20/20 | AC:15 T:12 FF:13 | F:+4 R:+5 W:+0 | Ini:+2 Per:+5] Mutagen Active: [AC:19 T:14 FF:15 | F:+4 R:+7 W:-1 | Ini:+4 Per:+4]

That could be interesting.

I'd like to know how common magic is in the Realms. Are there many places of study for arcane arts? Are "naturals" like Sorcerers shunned or embraced?

Just to get a general feel about the situation.

Knowledge(arcana):
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Male Fiendish Enforcer 2 [ HP: 28/28 | AC: 20 T: 11 FF: 19 CMD: 17 | F: +5 R: +4 W: +5 | Init: +1 Per: +7 | 1st: 3/3 | B: 5/5, M: 1/1 | DM: 4/4 ]

Blast, Victor doesn't have any Knowledge skills. Though I suppose being blissfully ignorant of those sorts of things is very much like him.

This unlocks the information for everyone on the Discussion but in game, only the asker "knows" this answer until someone matches the DCs.

Arcane Magic within the Realm
DC 5: Arcane Magic is relatively common in fact throughout the Realm. While certainly certain people such as Gylbrandyr Witch-Breakers and certain churches hate or actively hunt down arcanists, the rest of the realm is quite favorable to all sources of it.

DC 10: The distinction between wizard and sorcerer has long been a debate, but not an angry one. Indeed, both sides find it intriguing and have begun a joint collaboration within Felarance's Academie Arcanum where they hope to discover whether arcane magic may have come from a single specific source long ago or whether two branches exist (the Theorem and the Innate).

DC 15: While the Academie Arcanum is well known, there are three less well known locations throughout all the realms. These include:

- Sha-Maho: Shinzo's school of the arcane.
- Lashava: An arcane school and fortress on the border of Jahi and Kammarist.
- Svent's Tor: Home of the archwizard Cryos Svent, it also serves as a powerful college of the arcane, accepting only the brightest. It lies in the heartland of Middenford.

These schools cater to both spontaneous and prepared spellcasters.

DC 20: The acceptance of the arcane has led to some unique laws and regulations. Most nations have a strict peace-spell law. Any arcane spellcaster should be mindful when destroying property as this little known law has forced many a mage to pay dearly. Essentially, any dangerous spellcasting not proven to have been used in self defense is sure to result in a visit to the courts.

Dotting and thinking....

Male Undead (human) Ranger 3 [ HP: 29/29 | AC:18 T:12 FF:16 | F: +5 R: +6 W:+2 ]

To know the lay of the land(roads, trade routes, mountains, forests, rivers... and those creatures and people that inhabit it.)

Knowledge(geography):
rolled a 7+5 first time but under wrong alias... don't know if you will allow the second roll.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
well i suppose it doesnt matter anyway :P

(A bit broad for a question so I went with the roads)

The Roads Go Ever On and On
DC 5: The main road built was the Centennial Road, constructed so as to link all the mainland nations (that excludes Vul'joon and Marlight). Other roads have no official name and are mostly dirt paths with few cobble roads. Usually locals give them names.

DC 10: The Ways is a guild tasked with the maintenance of the roads and frontiers. They manage small roadside resthouses, inns and taverns as well as mustering small local militia to keep the roads safe. Hence, few monsters dare attack the Centennial. Smaller roads are less patrolled so travelers are still recommended to stay vigilant.

Knowledge about the wildlife and the plants of the region.

Checking in, thanks for choosing me. I'll be reading this and the gameplay thread over the next little bit and posting as needed.

Edit:Okay, no trained knowledge skills, but I'd like to roll a Knowledge (Local) to find out about Nalvallen and its surroundings. I'm capped at DC 10 since I'm untrained.

Knowledge (Local): 1d20 ⇒ 7

Male Gravebound (Human) Ranger (Trapper) 1| Inquisitor 1 HP:18/18 AC:16 TA:12 FF:14 F:4 R:4 W:4

And only now do I realise the -5 probably was your time zone and not the remaining time till deadline...

HP 28 / AC 19, T 13, FF 16 / Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +1 / Init +3 / Perception +7

I'm in GMT+8. I usually post in the evenings, and do a quick check in the morning.

Edit:Making some last minutes tweaks to equipment and character background/appearance as I type.

I'm also GMT-5. Guess I'll want to train those knowledge skills soon...

Wildlife and Plants of Belisaire
DC 5: As a rather mountainous and forest region, Belisaire's plants are hearty and rugged. The most proliferate plant is nevertheless the Steinblumen, a violet mountain flower which is often used in teas, herbal medicines and hard candies.

DC 10, 15 [X]

Nalvallen and the Surroundings
DC 5: Nalvallen is the second largest settlement in Belisaire after Hochmuren. (HOCK-Muren) Nalvallen is a small town of around 1,500 citizens. Consisting mainly of farmers, loggers, trappers and other tradesmen, Nalvallen is quaint and tranquil for a town of its size. The region around it consists of farmlands, woodlands and small mines.

DC 10 [X]

Also, I think I'm going to have to reduce the Question period to 1/week or I'll be overloaded. That still leaves 1 question/player/week which should be fine. No matter when you ask, the refresh time will be Monday mornings (-05:00)

I'm also happy to see that we have a well balanced team. All the bases are covered which makes it much easier for me!

Male Fiendish Enforcer 2 [ HP: 28/28 | AC: 20 T: 11 FF: 19 CMD: 17 | F: +5 R: +4 W: +5 | Init: +1 Per: +7 | 1st: 3/3 | B: 5/5, M: 1/1 | DM: 4/4 ]

Just for the record, I have all my classes today, so I won't be posting very much between 1 PM and 10 PM EST. I can probably sneak into the library to check up on stuff between classes, but I can't promise I'll be able to post.

Male Gravebound Alchemist 3 [HP: 20/20 | AC:15 T:12 FF:13 | F:+4 R:+5 W:+0 | Ini:+2 Per:+5] Mutagen Active: [AC:19 T:14 FF:15 | F:+4 R:+7 W:-1 | Ini:+4 Per:+4]

I'm GMT +1 here, but I have the chance to check the forums during my working hours. Also I tend to go to sleep very late. Often 2-3 AM.

I saw your google chat comments but since I can't edit your doc - I couldn't respond.

I made it so if you have the link, you can edit. Should help for moving your character, asking questions, etc.

HP: 39/39 - AC: 16|12|14 - For:+5 | Rex:+4 | Wil:+10 - Per:+12 Init:+2

woot!

Right! Let's get to our horrible slaughter! :D

Even without editing the document, if you click on the area that says "x other viewers" (should be top right of the page), you can open a chatbox.
I exchanged a few words with our GM there, very handy. :)

Rat Bastard, Cheeky Monkey, Sly Fox, <insert anthropomorphic animal metaphor here>

neat!

HP 28 / AC 19, T 13, FF 16 / Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +1 / Init +3 / Perception +7

It appears most of you are in EST so I'll probably be playing catch up a lot in this game. That's alright though, I doubt we can keep up the pace of 20 posts a day for very long. I'd be happy if we did, but it never happens that way. I'm just wondering if these things are gonna have DR that makes them immune to our weapons and kill us in one hit, or if our DM is gonna give us hope THEN kill us. :P

Before everyone freaks out these flaming bastards are CR 1/2 so chill. You won't be dying just yet.

And I'm lucky in having internet during all my college classes and most of them are lectures so chances in I can respond often. I'll really try to keep a good pace but have no fear, it's perfectly normal to post only 1/day.

This is a PbP so we're pretty chill.

Anyways, I'm really lax so I only start worrying when its been 3-4 days without an answer or PM.

HP: 39/39 - AC: 16|12|14 - For:+5 | Rex:+4 | Wil:+10 - Per:+12 Init:+2

lol. Listen with a 1st level character any lucky crit can be life-ending... so 1/2 CR or not, these boys could be bad news.

Moreover, I'm looking forward to having my guy croak in some horrid and unspeakable fashion. :)

Patience my friend. Patience.

Male Undead (human) Ranger 3 [ HP: 29/29 | AC:18 T:12 FF:16 | F: +5 R: +6 W:+2 ]

Gmt +10 (Australia) for me.
Pretty sure my crit just just skewered and cut this last one in two lol.
Of course I'd get a crit when I didn't need. Haha
Never hit something so hard at level 1 before

HP 28 / AC 19, T 13, FF 16 / Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +1 / Init +3 / Perception +7

Yeah, if I didn't get it you definitely did. Nice hit.

I'm getting good vibes from this group. The personalities mesh well together and I think I can kill you all in fun ways.

Male Fiendish Enforcer 2 [ HP: 28/28 | AC: 20 T: 11 FF: 19 CMD: 17 | F: +5 R: +4 W: +5 | Init: +1 Per: +7 | 1st: 3/3 | B: 5/5, M: 1/1 | DM: 4/4 ]

Victor is going to go smiling, I can assure you.

What better way to die than in glorious battle?

Male Undead (human) Ranger 3 [ HP: 29/29 | AC:18 T:12 FF:16 | F: +5 R: +6 W:+2 ]

Loving this campaign so far. Also first online ever btw. Used to in person games.

Male Fiendish Enforcer 2 [ HP: 28/28 | AC: 20 T: 11 FF: 19 CMD: 17 | F: +5 R: +4 W: +5 | Init: +1 Per: +7 | 1st: 3/3 | B: 5/5, M: 1/1 | DM: 4/4 ]

I'm enjoying myself, too.

Victor is a pretty fun character, not much like what I usually play. :)

This is not my first PbP, but this is the most fun start I've had. The characters are giving me a lot to play with.

Male Undead (human) Ranger 3 [ HP: 29/29 | AC:18 T:12 FF:16 | F: +5 R: +6 W:+2 ]

hmm just noticed im not on the campaign info tab. :(

HP 28 / AC 19, T 13, FF 16 / Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +1 / Init +3 / Perception +7

Definitely not my first PBP, but this is going well so far. Not knowing when or how I'm going to die, but knowing it's coming is keeping it exciting. Also I will have fun with the undead transformation I think.

Male Gravebound Alchemist 3 [HP: 20/20 | AC:15 T:12 FF:13 | F:+4 R:+5 W:+0 | Ini:+2 Per:+5] Mutagen Active: [AC:19 T:14 FF:15 | F:+4 R:+7 W:-1 | Ini:+4 Per:+4]

Done quite a few PbPs, mostly D&D 3.5, but the dice always hated me. ;)

HP: 39/39 - AC: 16|12|14 - For:+5 | Rex:+4 | Wil:+10 - Per:+12 Init:+2

Yep, having a good time with a good crew.

Male Gravebound (Human) Ranger (Trapper) 1| Inquisitor 1 HP:18/18 AC:16 TA:12 FF:14 F:4 R:4 W:4

I must say I'm enjoying this quite a bit, though Cedric absolutely isn't.

Male Fiendish Enforcer 2 [ HP: 28/28 | AC: 20 T: 11 FF: 19 CMD: 17 | F: +5 R: +4 W: +5 | Init: +1 Per: +7 | 1st: 3/3 | B: 5/5, M: 1/1 | DM: 4/4 ]

Heh, I'd imagine.

Victor's only regret is that he's going to die being swarmed by smallfry instead of in glorious single combat.

Male Gravebound aka Undead (Human) Ninja (Scout) 3 Hp:30/30 AC:18 Touch:14 FF:14 Fort:+3 Ref:+7 Will:+1 Init:+4 Perc+6

I'm just glad that the "two-weapon fighting without taking the feat" wasn't a complete and total disaster. Very interested to see what options we have once we delve into undeath.

Varus Endra wrote:

I'll fix that right away.

Il be a the theater so the update will come tomorrow, I apologize

Male Undead (human) Ranger 3 [ HP: 29/29 | AC:18 T:12 FF:16 | F: +5 R: +6 W:+2 ]

Well this seems like a good way to die.
Will we be evil afterwards?
I don't care, I think it's going to be heaps of fun either way.
Bring on the horrible deaths.

Male Undead (human) Ranger 3 [ HP: 29/29 | AC:18 T:12 FF:16 | F: +5 R: +6 W:+2 ]

Am dying to know how he all lose our lives! :D
oh yea i went there.

This is fantastically funny. Makes me think of Breaking Bad: "I AM THE ONE WHO CHOPS!"

HP 28 / AC 19, T 13, FF 16 / Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +1 / Init +3 / Perception +7

Who said that? I don't remember the line. Was it Walter?

Walter originally shouts "I am the one who knocks!" It was in several commercials of the show and has been parodied by many other media such as the Borderlands franchise and many webcomics. I have not actually seen the episode where it occurs, though, as I have yet to catch up to where the series is.

HP 28 / AC 19, T 13, FF 16 / Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +1 / Init +3 / Perception +7

Ouuehh? I just played through Borderlands 2 and I missed it in there too! I must be dense.
