I have a few questions :D Firstly, I am not entirely happy with my feat selection. Was thinking of replacing Taunt and one more for Combat Expertise and Improved Feint, allowing me to pick up Greater Feint at level 9. This would give me the ability to strip one target each round from their dex bonus, which synergies well with my sneakspell and our resident knife-fighter. But this wouldn't really get online until level 9. Anyone got any input on how the feint feats have worked out in practice ?
And secondly, I havn't assigned one language from my linguistics skill. Was thinking of saving it and see if we come across a useful language to study and learn during the campaign if it is okay with you Tobaris?

To the question on feats I'm fine if you change it now but any further changes will need to use retraining as per ultimate campaign. I'm fine with saving up the language but be aware it will take several days of study to pick up in game.

Okay that seems fair : ) I think I will hold on to my current feats and then retrain later (checked out the rules, they didn't feel all to painful).

Aaand I got another question! Since the topic of advanced campaigning stuff was brought up, how do you feel about cross class spells and magic research? Namely, I was interested in Scorching Ray (since it is a spell one could use with feint and sneakattack) and if I just should start looking for a wand.

Reporting in.
So I've been thinking about my character and how to make things work mechanically, and I think I've come up with a way that works.
Amalgus is a level low, and based on my number crunching, he's actually quite a bit weaker than the other characters. (construct traits don't equal higher casting level, class bonuses, and a few thousand gold worth of level-based wealth)
I'm not complaining. I'm actually fine with playing a character who is a little weaker than everyone else. It makes me have to be more creative. It's just the precursor to my proposal.
What do you think of a sort of "racial archetype" for Amalgus that turns his eidolon and everything he summons into a construct? (the idea being that they are all actually just parts of him)
I think that would go a long ways toward making Amalgus' concept work, and bringing him a little closer in power to the rest of the characters.
Thoughts?

Ha I am first. This being a space adventure let just say a few things; "Its a trap." "I got a bad feeling about this." "What the frack?"
Bah, I was here first. Had half a post written up for the Gameplay section, but got cut short by a ninja boss sneaking up on my at work.

I thought ninjas was supposed to be underpowered and easy to defeat :P? Damm GM shenanigans!^^
Edit: If it makes you feel any better, I visited the thread way before you guys since my monday started about 5h earlier

Should we just go to the contest? If so. I assume we are rolling or is it a situation that would call for rolling a 20. Well with rolls like that I would hope for taking a 20. lol.
I'm planning on using aid another and taking 10 if possible. I figure I can knit together a hammock and build some basic survival gear if need be.

Bazzle smirks at the show and laughs as the throng of admirers are rebuffed. "So you drugged those poor men with your love potions now you turn them away. Are you related to a sprite named 'Puck?' He played around with love potions and some human named 'Bottom' ended up with an asses head."
That's Shakespeare baby. . .it would have been better if was one of the lines from Star Trek 6.

I couldn't help but poke my head into Amalgus' earlier spoiler. If you're interested, I have a fully-written summoner archetype that turns the eidolon into a construct that I'm going to be putting into a soon-to-be-published project of mine. I'll gladly share it with you both. It's been playtested and edited thouroughly.

Has anyone here read the webcomic a miracle of science?

Bazzle Blast-hazard |

Sorry I am a little lost. Did the entangle screw up my seige engine? Or my attempts to build it. Now that I made it is thier mord time? Other people seem to be making more stuff.

The Axiom Binder looks like a great, except that it doesn't look like it is compatible with the Master Summoner. They both replace the same abilities.
It doesn't look like the overlap causes any kind of synergy or unexpected bonuses, so I'd argue that allowing them to work together might be allowable. It's up to the GM. I'd love to try the archetype. I'm just not sure I want to lose the Master Summoner archetype.
Right now it looks pretty much like what the GM has already agreed to (with a few minor differences). Very clean mechanics and wording though. Great work.

I ruled that the grass was only effectively grabbing living things for cinematic purposes and so as not to risk disqualifying you in case the grass accidentally damaged a project. Especially as the spell should only last a few minutes at that.
For now I think that we can use Axiom Binder as a guideline while we grow your concept.

The comic you linked was nice Tobaris. Almost felt like something Asimov would write, with psychology and worldminds and robots : )
On a completely different topic, if anyone wants to build a gunslinger or alchemist with a more chaotic bend I got your inspiration right here (warning: might contain instances of Tactical RPG Female Armour and/or excessive application of explosives.)

Which they somehow managed automatically without any checks, saves, opposed rolls, or anything? I expect some concessions for it being PbP, but that worries me a little (especially since I was doing so well up until being GM fiated into uselessness).
Also, should I anticipate you controlling my familiar in the future? I considered her an extension of my character and wasn't expecting you to speak through her. It's fine with me, it just isn't how we do it in my offline group, and as a player with a companion creature, I think I would have liked to know beforehand that you could/would do that.

Tobaris |

The catfolk managed it more for the sake of adding flavor, you were doing fine. Keep in mind winning these contests isnt the only way to get in, on top of the fact that Amalgus makes the final list based on how you did not just what you did.
As for your familiar I will generally leave that to you unless I think it would help to have that character say something. I treat all companions, familiars and, cohorts as NPC's normally under player control, I may occasionally use them to point things out in game or bring up things the party otherwise would miss. Since it can't be assumed that every insignificant detail is passed between the PC and the NPC.
Just have fun with the trials guys this is for me to get a feel for your characters in action and for your characters to interact, even failure can be rewarding.

Amalgus |

Treating companions as a sort of shared character is a good way for a GM to give out some kinds of information. That's usually how I handle things in my games. Something like an 80% player control, 20% NPC split.

They explain that the goal is to destroy the necklace of your opponent before they destroy yours. You may strap it to any part of your body but it must be clearly visible. You wear one necklace per pit for the first three.
So much for melding it into my body with a change of shape...
