About Bein Brennil

Bein was still too young—only a kit—to remember being stolen away from her family in Tien and brought to the Inner Sea. Having never met another kitsune before, she knows nothing of her heritage and fully believes that she is a human woman. She sees her “other form” as simply another manifestation of her innate sorceress powers.

Sold to a lowly merchant named Sela, Bein has traveled the length and breadth of the Inner Sea as his daughter, seeing many strange lands and even stranger creatures. As she grew older, however, Bein’s beauty and power increased dramatically. An astute intellectual, it was not long before old Sela realized the potential his adopted daughter’s powers could offer to a traveling merchant.

The ability to manipulate the emotions of those around Bein would prove invaluable to the old man. In less than a decade the wretched man used and abused her abilities to gain ever increasing wealth and power, all the while caring nothing at all for his daughter’s emotional well being, eventually rising up to become a great and powerful vizier. Fearing his daughter’s innate powers could break him as easily as they made him, Sela taught himself to use magic in his own right and warded himself against her charms.

Eventually, the old man grew tired of having a daughter. His own powers had long ago made him self sufficient, and he no longer had any need of her to continue his political machinations. Bein was cast out of his life just as suddenly and heartlessly as she had come into it, left with nothing but a half-dead exotic pet and the remnants of her father’s abandoned mercantile trade.

Bein set out to put her dark past behind her, once again finding herself traveling the world as a merchant. Though she did not shy away from using her natural charms and magical abilities to become quite successful in the trade, she swore to herself that she would never manipulate people in the cruel manner her father had once done, nor would she be similarly manipulated by others ever again.

Still emotionally scarred from her ordeals and past crimes, Bein’s travels brought with them a great many dalliances, mistakes, and problems. It was not long before she found herself pursued from every nation by a throng of former love interests vying for her hand in marriage and broken families seeking revenge against the harlot who ruined them. Ultimately, for her grand voyage through life to continue in a positive direction, she decided she would have to find a means of getting far, far away from them all...
