Goblins 2: The Wreckin'-ing! (Inactive)

Game Master Dave Young 992

Most adventurers consider goblins to be nothing more than little pests. These goblins are different. They're big pests!

Not a problem. You can flank one with one of the freed goblins, and if he does some damage on his turn, you'll be golden.

Velag and Bucko each strike a foe, as do each of the recently-rescued goblins. Klepy finishes one off, while Tark implodes another.

The last three, seeing their peers gruesomely slaughtered in the space of 18 seconds, make a break for the safety of the stream.

Velag is no longer shaken, and gets an AO on the one he injured, though the other will get away for now. Both Tark and Klepy will get AOs on the third.

Male Goblin Rogue(Knife Master and Scout) lvl 5 Assassin lvl 1

Klepy will give his war cry. "STICK STICK STICKY EEEEHEHEHEE!!!" And attempt to pounce the fleeing frog. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 +2 More if it was either flat footed or flanked with Tark at the time of departure. Damage:1d3 ⇒ 2 + 1d8 ⇒ 3 Again if flanked or flat footed.

Instinctively, Tark wheels Fangz around and chases after the fleeing goblin while softly under his breath uttering curses about Klepy.

King of Goblins *MAP*

Given the distance to the creek, Tark AND Fangz would have to roll ridiculously low to NOT kill the last one within 3 rounds, so I'll go out on a limb here and say he did.

Searching the corpses, you find human-sized leather armor and weapons, 64 gold, 80 silver and 220 copper, most likely taken from the boggards' earlier victims.

Tark collects plenty of heads to bash, and you return late in the night to a grateful village. The goblins you saved are likewise grateful, and regale any who will listen with tales of your bravado.

You are now among the baddest of the bad in Licktoad society, since so few goblins ever achieve what you have: You're all now at 3rd level!

Mighty goblins, indeed. But, before you retire to a night of mushy-mushy, Chief Gutwad summons you all to an important meeting.

HP 92/92

Tark will find a nice big rotted tree stump that he can drag into the middle of the camp. He begins placing frogman heads on the stump and flatten them for all to see. Then Tark calls for Gupy. Tark willo announce that the next head he pulls out of his bag will be smashed in her honor.

Tark reaches in and pulls out th mantis head. Tark powers down with his maul and smacks the head as hard as he can, crunching through the bugs head. A "pop" sound is heard as bits of bug brain and goo explode forth all over the place.

Tark Grins, "Dat even beddur dan firebooms!"

King of Goblins *MAP*

Gupy bats her little red eyes, cooing at Tark's goblininess. If only Gutwad could see that they're meant to be!

She even attends the meeting in the moothouse, Where Gutwad, Slorb, and two other goblins you haven't seen before are assembled.

Dis Rukus and Slem, Gutwad says, pointing at a male and female. The male carries a longbow and sword with light armor, while the female wears robes and a goblin felt hat, with a raven perched on top. Dey from Wind Whisper tribe, came here for trade for dogslicers and stuff, but had problem.

You learn that Rukus and Slem were part of a trade party, sent from the marshes far to the south. They were attacked by a large group of boggards, like the ones you just killed. These two are the sole survivors.

Boggards are a known hazard in the Mushfens, and the goblins there are used to fighting off groups of the young ones, who come around looking to kill humanoids in order to achieve a-dolt status in their tribes:

Boggards start out life as tadpoles in breeding ponds, eventually growing to a length of 3 feet before sprouting arms and legs and becoming capable of terrestrial living. Acceptance into the clan then depends on the young boggard's successful hunt to kill a sentient humanoid. -PFSRD

The 2 goblins explain that last spring, there were more than usual, but that this year, the swamp is crawling with them. Something has caused an overpopulation of the beasts, and the Wind Whisper tribe is in greater danger than ever in anyone's memory.

Our mighty heroes outnumbered. Can't fight so many. We need bigger heroes to fight them off and find out why so many, says Slem, her little eyes looking hopefully toward Bucko. His Mighty Girthness say you all big heroes. Can you go to Mushfens and help them? Lord Dogstomp reward you greatly.

The look she gives Bucko indicates perhaps an earlier reward for him.

Bucko:

Spoiler:
Yep, she's a witch... Her raven knows 4 spells Toady doesn't: Burning hands, Comprehend languages, Identify, and Reduce person. I'm sure any interaction with her will be mutually beneficial. ;)

Dogstomp old friend of mine. Not like Bircrunchers and Mosswood and Seven Tooth. He good business. Me need you, but no Wind Whispers means no goblins to south for trade. You help Gutwad's friend? the girthy one asks.

Do you feel like being big damn heroes?

HP 92/92

Klepy would have claimed the frog leader's morningstar at first opportunity

With the mace in one hand resting against his shoulder, he approaches Gutwad with pride. "Klepy is Greatsest and wiwl lead the odder gobbies to victories!...from hidin place o coureses."

Velag brings home the rest of the Boggards so we can feast, claiming the bumpiest part for himself, So me can lick later, get vision.

Velag watches carefully at the meeting, nodding as if posessed of wisdom. "Froggies nasty and should be punished... but talk more about reward."

Watching Klepy's outburst, Velag produces one of the silver coins from the treasure and wipes it on his cloak, then turns it so it catches the fire-light saying, "Klepy, lookit. Shiny."

When his distraction takes hold, he looks at Gutwad and guests and says, "Me sorry. We think him not get hit in head enough when young, it never quite harden right."

That's what I would do... Can't speak for goblins. lol

Velag gets his last orison, not to be confused with "lost horizon," and Bucko spends an evening with the scintillating Slem.

Her beady red eyes glow in the firelight as she admires Bucko's witchy charm, his homemade trinkets having the desired effect on this green-skinned morsel.

Bucko can make spellcraft checks as Toady and Slem's raven exchange knowledge while he and Slem exchange goblinier things.

Let's leave them to their springtime romance. There's magic in the air!

HP 92/92

While talking up a fe-gob, Tark overhears Klepy speaking loudly upon a make-shift platform. Tark then hears Klepy shouting forth his stupid warcry of "Efesti". Tark laughs a little to him self. "What a stupid warcry". Tark then hears Klepy pronounce himself to be the greatest of goblins. This makes Tark laugh. Of course all the goblins know that Tark is the greatest, next only to Gutwad. Tark pauses for a moment. With a painful jolt, the few brain cells that are on duty today manage to communicate a message to Tark. "Did Klepy just say that he's mightier than the Chief"?

Now Klepy has Tark's full attention... just as he mutters forth that he is stronger that Tark. Images of the frogboss falling before him, dance across Tark's mind. A little bit of saliva starts to form from the corners of his mouth.

Reason starts to slip away. Just as Klepy steps off his little box, Tark charges at him in an attempt to tackle him into ole' Squealy Nord's muddy pit. In his raging charge he shout's forth, "You not greater dan da Chief! You not tuffer dan Tark! Harrruuuuu!!!"

Grapple check, raged: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Tark does not have improved grapple, so Klepy does gain an AoO with his weapon in hand, which I believe is the boggart boss' weapon. Tark's shouting should alert him so Klepy likely will not be flatfooted when Tark comes racing in to grab him.

Male Goblin Rogue(Knife Master and Scout) lvl 5 Assassin lvl 1

Oh boy, I was wondering if I was going to have to deal with a hostile response lol. Don't really want to kill Tark but.....I suppose Klepy would freak and defend himself. This will end badly one way or the other. Hope Tark has a short memory.

Klepy will take a swing as a defensive action. "AAAAIIIEEEE!!!!"

Attack:1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11 For:1d8 ⇒ 7 I am presuming it is a normal medium size weapon.

After that Klepy will run off. "Tark cant catch Klepy! Klepy faster dan Tark! EEEHEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!" Klepy will run as fast as his little Gobbie feet will carry him.

Once he finds a decent hiding place, he stealths.
Stealth:1d20 + 22 ⇒ (6) + 22 = 28

HP 92/92

Having slipped from his hands, Tark continues his mad raging charge after Klepy. The little thief soon realizes that its hard to outrun an angry barbarian.

DM: I guess its up to you what happens here. I don't believe Klepy can both run and hide in the same round, and Tark's movement is 10' faster than Klepy. Tark's intent is simply to beat Klepy unconscious with non-lethal damage. Tark must prove before the other goblins that Klepy's claim to be tougher than him is clearly false.

King of Goblins *MAP*

No, Klepy couldn't outrun Tark, or manage to hide. Tackle him, Tark, and do your worst! He's a wiry little fokker, though. I'm sure the other goblins are having a hoot watching this...

HP 92/92

As the rage begins to fade from the barbarian, Tark thinks that he should carry Klepy over to his box and slump him over it. Waking up on the box where he had previously declared himself "stronger than Tark", with a bunch of goblins pointing and laughing at him would be most humiliating. Then Tark thinks of moments in the past few weeks where bravery took part of Klepy's actions. Although Tark does not like it, Klepy was worthy enough to defeat the frogman boss all on his own.

Tark picks up the unconscious Klepy and carries him to Klepy's hut and places him gently down on his pile of straw bedding. As Tark leaves the hut, he is of course mobbed by fe-gobs wishing to make mushy with the great hero. Tark looks at one of his favorites. "You make mushy dis moon, but not wit Tark. Klepy big hero too. You make mushy wit him dis moon." Tark is not diplomatic when he suggests this and it could be taken as much as asking a favor as it could be issuing a threat.

Tark looks at the first fe-gob he locks eyes with. "You. Bring cider to Tark hut. We make lots of mushy 'til Tark no longer able to stay awake."

Male Goblin Rogue(Knife Master and Scout) lvl 5 Assassin lvl 1

Thanks for that Tark. Klepy was a fool to try and take you on with a medium sized mace.....actually he should have never fought you one of one in the first place. Still I made it to level three. WOO! My highest level character I am currently running. YAY! Two more levels and this guy will be the highest level I have EVER played. By the way, when will Klepy come too? Will it be in time for some Mushy?

HP 92/92

Sadly Tark does not understand that he should not bully someone who is really sneaky... afterall, even Tark has to sleep at some point :)

Non-lethal damage is healed at a rate of 1 per hour. I thought the use of Healing skill could change that to 1 per minute or round, but I can't find such a rule. Maybe a good house rule? *grins* Surely that fe-gob has some healing talents.

King of Goblins *MAP*

As this was more for fun than any actual adventuring, we'll say Klepy woke up shortly afterwards, and his headache was tended to by some attentive fe-gobbies.

I don't think there are rules for non-lethal damage with earthbreakers and oversized weapons, but it's all good...

And you wouldn't want to get Klepy in a "vendetta kind of mood!" He can do 4d8 sneak in a round. Stay on his good side!

It might be easier to have a minor bit of healing in normal goblin ale, such as a cure 1 hit point for each level of intoxication. IE the healing is so dispersed in the solution that you must get tipsy to feel the healing effects.....

Another evening passes uneventually in Licktoad Village. The next morning, you are again summoned to Gutwad's moothouse, where he meets with you privately, with only Slorb and his ratdog Toothy in attendance.

We have little problem I hope you help me with. Last month, Gogi Furburn the firemage come here from Mosswood tribe. He trade many magic things for Licktoad weapons. Problem is, things not magic. Only look magic with spells. After a few days, Gakk check again, and nothing. We lose big deal with lizardfolk to the east. Lizard shaman angry with Gutwad, me have to make good and lose much treasure.

Furburn come back today or tomorrow. He think Gutwad too stoopit to know his tricks.
