GM Goblin King |
After a healthy breakfast and a lusty goodbye from their female fans, the heroic goblins ride forth into the sunrise, to the east (they think), to face the dreaded Gogi Furburn, the disreputable, stoopit fire mage.
Tark leads fearlessly, his finery gleaming in the light, sure that the others will tell him where to go when he gets lost. Velag follows, his own barded wolf ready for battle, two gleaming swords at his sides.
Bucko is next, his faithful ratdog tirelessly pacing the leaders, his mind afire with new witchery. Klepy is last, dreaming of all the shiny tings he's sure to find, and the squishy tings he's sure to stick.
Make sure you're all done leveling, and the fun will soon begin.

GM Goblin King |
You ride for a few hours with no problems. Klepy's mount keeps up with the rest, denying him opportunities to become fascinated.
The terrain slowly becomes less swampy, the trees spaced more widely, and the land drier and slightly more rolling than where you live.
It is while you cross yet another stream that you must make perception checks.

Klepy |

"Oh! Klepy good at talkes! Klepy speeks ways outsa trouble alls the times! Really goods ats it hehe. You need lie, Klepy help! You need friends.......Klepy......um.....lie...and be friend....den back stab with lil sticky ehehehe!"
Just to back up the point, Klepy is actually pretty good at dealing with people and is good looking to.....for a goblin. Charisma score of 12 and darn good diplomacy and bluff skills. He finds he needs to talk his way out of many problems to get what he wants.

Velag Wordeater |

Velag looks at Bucko, "Me thought we supposed to be happy welcome group? We pretend to guard him back to Licktoads, and stabitty-stabitty when not looking? It ok, we use your plan, me must have misunderstood. Me still have Froggy hopping in my belly."
Velag's Perception... 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 and Initiative (if needed): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Bayleff's Perception... 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Edit: added a roll for Bayleff, though if we need higher than Velag's 27, I think we're in the big trouble and I'm going to hide behind Tark.

GM Goblin King |
I should mention that when you're mounted, your pets get perception checks, too. Toady doesn't, since he's usually in Bucko's pocket, but the wolves and ratdogs usually will. We can discuss this further in the ooc thread. How you handle Gogi Furburn is up to you! LOL

Tark Bashflat |

Fangz Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Initiative -- since everyone else is rolling it :) 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Tark's plan is simply to ride in with everyone else and not say anything. Tark will keep a sack of items with him, which he plans to take directly to Furburn. Tark's masterfull plan is to throw the bag down at his feet and say "Here's yous' stuff.", while unslinging his maul and letting loose a flurry of flattening.

GM Goblin King |
While you're crossing the stream, both Tark and Velag's wolves are attacked by creatures in the water. Velag sees the attack coming, and thanks to the barding the wolves wear, neither is harmed.
The creatures are 5' away from your mounts (one to Tark's left, and one to Velag's right), but are able to attack from that distance, even though they're the size of goblins!
They look like this, but bigger.
Initiative: Klepy, Bucko, Velag, Tark, larvae
The stream is about 3' deep, making movement half speed for your mounts.

GM Goblin King |
There is a possibility I could be away for a while. I'll know more later today, but if I don't post later, we'll pick this up when I get back.

Klepy |

Klepy will wait until Tark moves to engage and then swing around behind the bug to flank it.
Klepy attacks with lil sticky, both if able:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 For:1d3 + 2d8 ⇒ (1) + (3, 5) = 9
If it hits, the creature takes 2 bleed damage
If able to duel wield, here is the second attack:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 For:1d3 + 2d8 ⇒ (1) + (5, 5) = 11
If this one hits, the creature takes 2 more bleed damage.

GM Goblin King |
Happy to say I'm off the hook, and not going anywhere. BTDT, anyway.
Klepy can flank Velag this round, but not get to Tark. I looked for rules about fighting in wading-deep water and sneak attack while mounted, and found nothing pertinent to it, so I'll say that Klepy CAN flank, and CAN use both weapons, guiding his mount with his knees, which is automatic for him.
Your mounts get attacks, too, so you can roll for them if you want.
Bucko's spell doesn't seem to phase the larvae, but it illuminates them nicely in the water, making further attacks quite easy.
Just waiting on Velag, then the bugs will go.

Velag Wordeater |

Velag bumps Bayleff forward with his knees and draws both shortswords, getting into position with Klepy. "Me learn new thing, buggy. You like."
Attack roll, Shortsword #1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 for 1d4 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (2) + 1 = 4 {1d6 from Precise Strike with Solo Tactics}
Attack roll, Shortsword #2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 for 1d4 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + (5) + 1 = 10 {1d6 from Precise Strike with Solo Tactics}
Ride check to run mount without hands (and direct it to attack): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
Bayleff's attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 and... trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

GM Goblin King |
Klepy, Velag and Bayleff nearly shred one of the larvae. It attacks Velag, and misses.
Tark's is still fighting, too, and decides that he might be an easier target than Fangz, but my d20 says otherwise. Missed again! It holds its position, looking for another opening.

Klepy |

The creature takes 4 bleed damage at the top of the round
Klepy stabs the beast again.....twice
Attack:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 For1d3 + 2d8 ⇒ (2) + (4, 7) = 13
Attack:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19 For1d3 + 2d8 ⇒ (3) + (4, 8) = 15
If those attacks hit, creature takes 4 more bleed damage.

Velag Wordeater |

Velag shouts, "Bayleff! Eat the buggie!" and guides his mount with his knees toward Tark's opponent, taking a flanking position.
Shortsword #1 -> Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 for 1d4 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (2) + 1 = 5{1d6 from Precise Strike with Solo Tactics}
Shortsword #2 -> Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 ... Possible crit, rolling to confirm 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Assuming confirm failed, standard hit for 1d4 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (1) + 1 = 4{1d6 from Precise Strike with Solo Tactics}
Ride check to run mount without hands (and direct it to attack): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Bayleff's attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

GM Goblin King |
That one's dead. Tark's is still alive.
Note to self: Rogues are overpowered and a CR 5 is nothing to these guys...

Klepy |

Klepy: ** spoiler omitted **
BAB + 2 Weapon Finesse + 6 Masterwork weapons + 1 Two Weapon - 2 Flank + 2 Hmmm it seems Herolab has messed up. The program has me at a BAB +3 and I cannot figure out why. So all my attacks should have been a +9 not 10. Sorry for the error, my bad.

GM Goblin King |
I'm gonna make him play something less powerful, like a wizard...
Dead. Fangz finished it off. You can all be proud that there will be 2 fewer giant dragonflies threatening the tribe this year. You're true public servants with community spirit!
As for flanking while mounted, I still haven't found any rules for that.

Klepy |

NO! Anything but a wizard! I hate Arcane casters! Please! I'll bang my head on a rock and get worse just don't make me a wizard! Waaaaa! Come on! Before level up Klepy went unconscious three times! Almost died once! How can you say that about him! Waaaaa!!

GM Goblin King |
LOL!
It's OK. I've been a little preoccupied by RL lately, and probably missed a few things. Those things are dead-dead-dead, and Tark will have trouble finding big enough pieces to bash good later.

Klepy |

Thanks Tark, I forgot about the size bonus. Yep. +10 Base, +8 Two Weapon, +10 or 12 when flanking. Klepy is too awesome, I don't want to lose this awesome little goblin ever!
Klepy grins as he licks his dagger clean. "Klepy sticks ye goodsy hehe." He then looks quite disappointed. "No tings for Klepy? pppttt! Stinky waste of spaces bugses!" He turns to the others. "We go find beasties whats haves tings for Klepy to take!" He waits for someone to lead the way.

GM Goblin King |
You can stop to cook and eat the bugs, or just eat some juicy, gooey chunks as you travel. Your mounts want to eat what's left of them right now!
After your (minimal) exertions with the larvae, a little pause wouldn't hurt. It's a nice day, and the mid-day sun is warmer than usual for this time of year.
There's no specific schedule for the execution of your evil plans, as you don't know when you can expect to encounter the crooked fire mage. He could be an hour away, or a day. All you know is that this is the trail he's expected to use to come to Licktoad Village.
Mysterious, ain't it?

Velag Wordeater |

Velag says, "Me have plan. We set leave trail, make rest-spot. There, we slurp yummy bugses. One of us sneaksies waitses for nasty-stoopit in bushes, then signalses us when coming. Rest of sneaksies set up to ambush, and when we jumpses out to stabbity-stabbity, Tark crashes in middle with big 'Haru!' for stoopit-mage."

Bucko Rackingclaw |

"Goodses plan Bucko ken make camps here!"
Prepares to cast web shelter....
"Isa good spell fer travelin, no rains gets in an no work to does!"
"Not last tha whole day yet, but good rests."
Web Shelter (big explination lots of words!)
School conjuration (creation); Level cleric/oracle 2, druid 2, ranger 2, sorcerer/wizard 2, summoner 2, witch 2
CASTINGCasting Time 1 minute
Components V, S, DF
EFFECTRange close (25 ft. + 5 ft./two levels)
Effect 5 ft.–10 ft. diameter web sphere or 5 ft.–20 ft. hemisphere
Duration 1 hour/level (D)
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance no
DESCRIPTIONYou create a shelter of slightly sticky webbing. The shelter has a hinged door large enough to accommodate a Medium creature. The opaque walls of the shelter measure 1 inch thick and provide total cover to anyone within it.
Only Fine creatures with negligible Strength can be caught in the webbing (including swarms); all other creatures can pull themselves free without making a Strength check or taking an action. The webbing is sticky enough to hold twigs, leaves, dirt, and other light items, allowing you to conceal the shelter. The shelter is watertight and insulated when the door is closed. Its surface has a hardness of 0 and 2 hit points for every 5-foot square of web surface area. It takes normal damage from fire and burns as easily as wood. When the spell ends, the webbing decays rapidly and disappears.

Bucko Rackingclaw |

"I puts web house here, we go in and eatses then we hide in an around trail an waits fer stinky, when stinky comes we sneakies an bashes."
"Stinky will stop at web house an him be amazed an not see us sneaky sneaky till bug-killer hammer hitses him stupid face!"

Velag Wordeater |

Velag whistles at the web-house, "Since Bucko make hut, me take first lookie for stoopit. Tark, you keep eye on Bayleff? Not let him eat Klepy if him stare at shiny wing from squishybug."
Stealth roll (to hide in bushes and wait): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (14) + 21 = 35

GM Goblin King |
Ok. After you take a break, you all hide in spots around the trail, along with your mounts.
After about 2 hours, you hear, then see a single goblin mounted on a wolf, riding fast down the trail. He wears breastplate armor, and is armed with a lance and typical goblin weapons.
He stops at the stream and looks around, then turns back, moving quickly back up the trail. If he or his wolf noticed you, he makes no sign of it.
Who's where, and how far are you from the trail?

Tark Bashflat |

If the goblin is still close, Tark, being the obvious diplomat of the group, will ride forward and approach him. With a sack of trade gear hanging off the side of his saddle, Tark asks, "Eh you, yous' wit Furburn?"
If for any reason the stupid gobo tries to run from him, Tark will chase him down... if he can't catch up to him, he will throw his two hammers at his head.

GM Goblin King |
Yes, yes! You from Licktoads? Furburn coming. Brings nice things for trade. You and your friends come to help us to village? How far away is it now? Me Tog. What your name?
He rides right up to you, looking quite friendly.

Bucko Rackingclaw |

"Tog close to village, jus past stream an down road. Tog should ride with a recruit to village fast as he can. Lets chief know we is comin back real quick, tells chief tah starts raostin tha pigeses fer goblins feast!"
"Recruit youses takes Tog to tribe an starts roast of pigses!"

GM Goblin King |
Are you talking to Tark? The "recruits" didn't come with you. They haven't been with you guys since the patrol business.

GM Goblin King |
My bad they were always so useless, I thought they were still lurking........
You'd never have made the hide checks with them and 4 ratdogs along with you.
Tog did indicate that he knew Tark wasn't alone. Now that we're clear on that, Bucko can emerge from hiding and try a different tack. Or, you can pretend that Tark IS a recruit, and hope he gets the ruse.
While I'm at it, I'll tell you that coming up the trail, about 100' away, walking in single file, Tark sees 2 bugbears, a 2-axle wagon pulled by 2 ratdogs with 2 goblins driving it, and a 3rd bugbear behind it. I'll assume you weren't mounted, but pulled your dog with you from the woods.
From what you can tell, they seem pleased to see you.

Tark Bashflat |

It sounds like the caravan party is far too close for Tark to get away with flattening Tog without them seeing. So, as rare as it is, Tark will play it cool. Tark knows that he is not a good liar, so he figures telling elements of the truth is better. "Yup. We here to meet Furburn. Village close. Many frogmen around here lately. Very dangrus. Gutwad say, dat we take care of Furburn."
Of course, Tark is very proud of his rouse. He can't help but to smile after the last statement.

Klepy |

Klepy steps up too help. "We kills dangerous bugese dat tries to impeed path. Thems deads but roads nots safe jest yets. Frogmens up ahead, many. we knows the ways aroun an takes your tin...uh I mean takes you da safes ways around where I uh I a mean wes havsa bests covers froms sa dangers. So we escorts him but big bears to bigese to gos this ways so theys musts turns back or wese be seen an Gutwad cannot give pays to Stoo....I mean Furburn. On honor Sniker as Licktoads wese escorts him safelies. Brings him backs too." Klepy announces. He tries to look sincere as possible. He also does this with his eyes looking skyward so as to not get immediately distracted.
Bluff:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Diplomacy if needed:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Sorry for butting in like this, I had an idea that I just had to try. If none of you like the plan, feel free to hit me an call me stupid head or something, I wont hold it against you.
EDIT: With those results, I may have just scored something.

GM Goblin King |
Just waiting on Velag to pipe in and show himself. Please indicate whether you're mounted or pulling your mounts from cover.
The caravan continues to get closer, and you see a younger goblin at the reins, and an older goblin sitting contentedly next to him. None of them act at all hostile.

Klepy |

Klepy normally doesn't like being mounted and will stand on foot whenever he is not traveling. Therefore he is on foot now. Klepy can't be sneaky if mount isn't. So ditch mount to its fate and go sneaky :D
But right now, Klepy is trying to thin enemies so killing stoopid head is easier. Kill nasty bugbears later.
