Kraleck |
Kraleck smirks as he sees Master Scourge leaving as a small victory. That, and he can barely understand the gutteral speak of pirates.
Getting down on hands and knees, the wizard begins to scrub the deck, knowing that with so many goblins on the job, it won't take long. Besides, it gives Kraleck another opportunity to explore his surrounding and hatch a plan to get his spellbook back.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Just my luck, I come across the only goblins in Golarion who are "neat freaks". And 'freak' is the definitive word. The 'Captain' has a tail. Disgusting mutant!
Scruug |
Scruug Looks down at Kraleck as he swabs back and forth across the deck. "So you talk real big to the scary ones... You say you do magic, Scruug do magic to you know. Fire magic, Scruug is best at it, maybe we be friends? Share magic tips."
Sloog |
Sloog laughs and shakes his head. "He doesn't do magic. He says he's smart but he just stood there and got whipped by the ugly one." He laughs and shakes his head. "Anyway, you want to see fire? Wait until we find the magic powder for my wand. Makes huge explosions and starts things on fire... like dumb hob's ugly black hair." Sloog whispers the last part.
He then watches Ralph, studies his own mop and bucket, and realizes how stupid this is. Out of the threat of the whip, he forgets about it (his immediately preceding comments forgotten). So, he takes the mop, approaches Raph, then taps his own mop to the other goblin's. "Watch out, longshanks! I'm going to bite your face and eat your foot!" He swings the mop as an awkward quarterstaff, aiming for Raph's head with the sopping wet mass of rotting cloth.
Not trying to do any damage to Raph; just "play jousting"
Scruug |
Scruug scratches his chin in thought at Sloog's words. "WAS kinda dumb to just let youself get whipped like that..." Scruug chuckles to himself. "Even Scruug know not do that. You use real big words, but maybe Scruug am smarter gobo for once? Besides Scruug no need stupid stuff like a..." Scruug shivers. "Book! To make his magic go." Upon saying the unholy word Scruug spits on the deck, and immediately mops it up, not wanting to get in trouble.

Looking up from his chore, Kraleck sees an inquisitive goblin, nearly upside down on the rigging, with a stupid smile on his face.
"Let me guess, you're some kind of sorcerer, someone who feels his spells instead of thinking the complex formula within your mind as I do." With a sneer, the wizard add, "I doubt my 'magic tips' would do you any good, much less understand them".Sloog laughs and shakes his head. "He doesn't do magic. He says he's smart but he just stood there and got whipped by the ugly one." He laughs and shakes his head. "Anyway, you want to see fire? Wait until we find the magic powder for my wand. "My life is pain. The pain of being a genius in a world of ignornace, stupidity, and the narrow-minded. Compared to that existence, what's one slap of a whip. But I do like your idea about setting the hobgoblin on fire", Kraleck, smiling an evil grin to himself.
Scruug |
"You just call Scruug lots of names there... Scruug really think you should take that back. Last gobo's made fun of Scruug, Scruug burned to death." At that Scruug raises his hand to his face just as it spontaneously bursts into flame. "They scream a lot..."
Intimidate: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (14) - 3 = 11
Scruug's just trying to assert his dominance right now, testing the waters to see if anyone will stand up to him when he actually has a huge uperhand in that hes not really hindered a lack of gear. Trying to see how tough he can act before getting smacked down essentially.
Hes also holding on to a blast that will go directly to Kraleck's feet should he fail to apologize. Like, the area around his feat I mean
Kraleck |
Taken from d20pfsrd.com:
Demoralize Opponent
You can use this skill to cause an opponent to become shaken for a number of rounds. This shaken condition doesn’t stack with other shaken conditions to make an affected creature frightened. The DC of this check is equal to 10 + the target’s Hit Dice + the target’s Wisdom modifier.
So my 10 + 1 (1st level) + 1 Wis = 12. So, by my math, that's a fail.
A wicked smile threatens to cleave Kraleck's large cranium in half.
"Sure. Produce flame on a wooden ship. That definitely won't get you thrown off in the middle of the ocean. Put that away, before I extinguish it between your buttcheeks!"
Okay, my turn. Kraleck will counter-demoralize using Brusing Intellect.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 'Kraleck does not play well with others'.
Sloog |
Sloog parries the first of Raph's strikes with a resounding FWOLP of mop against mop, but is then distracted by the showdown between Scruug and Kraleck and is whacked in the face by strings of dirty, sodden mop tendrils. He waves off Raph and points at the other two gobs. "Ooooh. Maybe they're going to fight. We see how Mister Arcane Genius fares in a fight."
Scruug |
Scruug takes a step back from Kraleck, shaking in place for a moment before steping back up. "S-ship all wet dumb, dumb. Yeah, take more than a little fire to go up in smoke. Why don't to do something about Scruug? Shoot magic at Scruug, DARE you."
Kraleck |
But the others don't know that. Yet Kraleck currently has the upperhand, and doesn't want to lose it.
I'm will to let this go. Intimidate is best used against NPCs instead of fellow player characters. Besides, knowing Kraleck, if this gets more violent, there might be legitimate pc vs. pc fighting.
Getting up from the floor, Kraleck picks up his nearly empty bucket, and looks into Scruug's eyes.
"Either get me some more soapy water for my bucket, or Get. Out. Of. My. Way!"
Sloog |
Sloog starts laughing, a shrill, piercing sound broken only by snorts from his nose. But, through his hysterical convulsions, he manages to grab his bucket, carry it over to Kraleck, and drop it at the gob's feet. "Here you go, Master Wizard Sir! Don't let all the power go to your head! BWAHAHAHAHAH!" He clutches his stomach as the laughing threatens to send him tottering over the railing and into the water.
though! :-)
Scruug |
Scruug Glares at Kraleck with but a faint glint of anger in his eyes, where it not for Sloog's intervention this would most definitely have ended in a fight.
I don't know what timezones are like with this group but it was around 1AM when I posted the intimidate roll. I don't know what I was thinking while rolling it.
Sloog |
And Sloog is evil, so don't expect him to be nice to any of you (and certainly not our enemies) but I'm trying to go with a chaotic enough bent that whatever evil he is bent upon in one moment can be easily distracted in the next. And please don't take anything Sloog does in-character as directed at you personally or trying to ruin your game. If you think I step over the line, let me know.
Finally... all of our gobs' charisma scores are appropriately crap, so humor may be the only way to resolve a lot of appropriately-IC tensions.
Carina Greasefire |
Please, anyone knows that a goblin with a CHA score over 10 is a freak of nature anyways. And besides, we're pirates now-don't need to be charismatic anymore!
After five minutes of scanning the open sea, Carina is on the verge of hurling herself off the mast. "I'm so FREAKING BORED!"
She sees a few of the others squaring off down below her. She shouts down, "Fight! Fight! Fight! Hahahahahaha!" She's not really paying attention to anything besides Sloog, Scruug, Kraleck and Raph. To be fair though, five minutes of uninterrupted attentiveness is a new record for her.
Scruug |
Scruug is just about to head back to mopping the deck as he hears the faint screaming of "fight!" coming from up above. Snapping his head to look at the one making the noise, its exactly who he thinks it is. Turning around quickly he lunges at Kraleck in a savage display that can only be produced by a love struck goblin.
"SCRUUG FIGHT GOOD FOR YOU! SWEAR!"

(ง ͠° ͟ل͜ ͡°)ง Its fighting time Kraleck, Scruug's princes demands it!
grapple: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Kraleck |
"Fine! We'll do it LIVE!!"
Okay. You don't have Improved Grapple, so I get an AoO.
Unarmed Attack: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (16) - 3 = 13
Assuming your still have your armor on, I miss.
13 beats my CMD of 10, so I'm grappled.
"Get off me, you pug-ugly philistine!!"
Kraleck tries to break grapple.
CMB: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11 Nope.
Sloog |
Sloog sees the wrestling match break out and gets exactly the same idea as Gnaly. He looks around the deck to see if there are any obvious indications of where his gear might be but, absent that, will simply try to slip back below deck and explore.
Intelligence to recognize opportunity: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Of course I blow the 20 on the int check
Raph |
"Okay, Scruug. Good job," Raph says as if speaking to a small child. "Let him up before Scourge comes back." As much as I'd like to kick Scourge in the unmentionables, I'd like to have numbers on my side, Raph thinks.
Raph offers Scruug a high-five.
Gadoongo Heineous |
At this point, Gadoongo simply tries to keep his distance from the "playing" goblins. There was still quite a bit to learn about this ship and its mechanics, and the oversized monstrosity was mostly interested in surviving at this point.
Scruug |
Hearing Raph's warning of Scourge's return Scruug let's go of Kraleck. Standing up panting from the exertion, screaming and avoidance of the wizards fangs. Most of all though, Scruug looks up to the mast to see if the reason he started the fight is amused or not. He does however slap Raph's hand when offered. Would have preferred a hug but, eh.
"Scruug am good fighter, didn't even get a scratch! He says, head still tilted towards the crows nest.
Scruug |
Scruug's hope's shattering is almost audible as he realizes that he hadn't been entertaining enough. Slumping his shoulders, he half halfheartedly picks up the mop he had dropped in his mad lunge for Kraleck and begins to drag it back and forth, sniffling ever so slightly as he does.
Gnaly |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Disappointed that the fight has fizzled out, Gnaly continues to do her job slowly. More than enough goblins, after all...
"Pss... shout that you've seen something! A pirate ship, a ghost wreck, a giant sharkie with a big horn!" Gnaly giggles to Carina.
GM Bone Man |
i WILL have a post up today...it eill pick up from the fight...sorry can someone get a tank to pull all this life aggro from me...

GM Bone Man |
Raph takes a mop and begin to fight and show his skills to the others. Tying to blind side the peg legged one but his attack is stopped. As the two begin playful fighting each other they stop when the scarred one takes mr. Wizard down to the ground . Klarleck tried all he can to free himself but his feeble arms just cant find the strength...as the fight is going on Gnaly approaches Master Scourge, though trying to stay far away from his whip range.
"Well there be enough goblins wiping the deck. What other work might there be? Anything a bit more interesting? If I'd get some of me gear back I could turn water into grog," Gnaly says, quivering slightly from being apart from her holy symbol, an effigy of a humanoid figure she found drifting in the ocean.
Master Scourge turns "wha' was that ye say ye can turn water into rum well lets get ye that..." he stops mid sentence as he sees the fight taking place with his back turned "wha' in Davy Jones' locker are ye all doin', ye were ordered t' swab th' deck but i find ye playin', stand at attention when i speak t' ye" master Scourge grabs Gnaly stopping him from slinking away. He points at sloog trying badly to move away from the group "back wit' th' rest move"
at the same time Sloog had the smartest thought hes ever had in his short life. Where dose all loot taken go on a ship...with the quartermaster they keep everything and dole it out as needed so more foolish spenders do not loose the ships reserves before its gathered..
Master Scourge continues on berating the lot of you his anger grows with eatch word he screams "right then i can see the only way to get you all to learn is to make an example out of the two of you...you for tie them to the post"...the other 4 goblins move to grab kraleck and scruug...
or fight...
also don't forget my house rules there is no need for the improved feats to do a action so there would only be a aoo if you had the feat and he did not
Sloog |
Sloog stops dead in his tracks when so quickly called out by Scourge. He prepares to offer an excuse for skulking away when he realizes the worst of Scourge's fury is directed at the other two gobbos.
This hob is a pile of dung, but I got no way to fight him... Oh well, at least it's not me who's going to get flayed.
Sloog steps up and roughly grabs Kraleck (Scruug seems a little too tough; better let the other gobbos take him) and marches him over to the mast. He quietly whispers to the other gobbo:
Scruug |
Scruug only realizes what is going on after Scourge is done yelling and the other goblins move in to grab him. Snapping out of his daze, Scruug decks one of the grabby goblins before they can all get a hold on him. "Leave Scruug alone! Scruug dindu nuthin' wrong! REEEE!" Scruug thrashes around as he finally gets dragged to Scourge's designated spot and is tied up with some difficulty.
Scruugs flesh breaks open much less than Kraleck's does at the whipping, his scars barely bleeding as they protect him from some of the pain. He continues the angry thrashing about until the beating is over and he is allowed to stand. He immediately gets back to work upon being told to, but this time with an obviously murderous scowl on his face rather than a unhappy pout.
Carina Greasefire |
Carina quickly turns her attention to the open sea, standing stock still on the mast as she stares forward without even blinking. She mutters to herself under her breath "That didn't go like I planned...just wanted distraction to get my stuff back. Crud. Now I gotta apologize to Mr Hugsy later."

Kraleck, not surprised in the least, accepts his fate, and does not struggle when latched to the post. Making sure to keep eye contact with Scruug, with every lash, the wizard speaks to the pyromancer.
"This! Is! All! Your! Fault!!"As they untied the wizard, Kraleck doesn't even give Scourge the satifaction of seeing pain on his face. Inwardly Kraleck invokes Lord Azfernaraxus.
Master, please help! I've been captured by pirates and I'm without my spellbook!
Gnaly |
Gnaly winces at the punishment meted out to the other goblins, but giggles when she sees their blood drop upon the sea. Zog be liking that!
As to the subject of turning water into rum, Gnaly eagerly replies to Scourge.
"Well, I be needing my holy symbol to do that! The blessings of the Lady of the Waters upon all gobbo sailors, as she knows they need a little liquor while they're on a boat. My symbol is just an old piece of driftwood; looks like the figure of a small gob. I could help you look for it. And after I get it, we'll have some fun... WITH LOTS OF RUM!" Gnaly says, trying not to salivate at the thought of getting back her symbol.
Gnaly will cast Enhance Water if there's water around. If not she'll ask for some barrels and cast Create Water.
"It might not be the best stuff around, but if you can find some viler stuff, the better it'll be!"
Sloog |
So, I just looked at the Campaign Info tab and reviewed the available activities. I think, for Day 1 (particularly after witnessing this lashing), Sloog is going to try to be "sneaky" by working diligent and hopefully avoiding further attention.
Day 1 - Daytime
After the lashing of Scruug and Kraleck, Sloog spends the remainder of the day diligent mopping the same 5' square over and over and over and over and over (and over) again. If anyone starts to give him the evil eye, he briefly moves over into the next 5' square and mops there, maybe rubs a rag over a mast, licks a rope, whatever...
Not sure what you need me to roll as a deck swab, but here is a d20:
1d20 ⇒ 8 +4 from working diligently plus whatever from his stats
Day 1 - Nighttime
However, assuming he isn't fatigued at night, rather than try to sneak or do anything else, he's going to go from bunk to bunk, belonging to the other gobbos he's been "volunteered" with, and whisper to them in Goblin:
"I've spent time on ships before and I think our gear is probably being kept by the quartermaster. I think we should try to get it. Can you pick a lock?"
Scruug |
Day 1-Daytime
Scruug works diligently as well, having to concentrate hard so that he doesn't snap on one of the other gobs around him. He also manages to find 50GP worth of goodies as per his campaign trait.
Day 1-Nighttime
After the days events, all Scruug wants to do is sleep... Until Sloog wakes him up.
"What?" Scruug moans sitting up in his hammock, marks from the netting are still visible on his face as he hadn't wanted to sleep on his torn back. "Just take this junk and get you stuff back, wanted to see you fire wand anyways." Is all Scruug says in response as he hands Sloog the trinkets and baubles he had hidden in his shirt. They are very shiny and anyone could tell they are at least moderately valuable. After doing this Scruug collapses back into his hammock,.
Gnaly |
Day 1 - Daytime
Gnaly does her work while trying to get Scourge to get her holy symbol back.
Influence: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Day 1 - Nighttime
Gnaly sneaks around (Take 20) to figure out the layout of the ship, in particular the Quartermaster's Store.
If found out, she claims to be feeling ill and looking for a place to "vent".
To Sloog, she says "Can't pick a lock, I'm afraid..."
Kraleck |
Day 1 - Daytime
Kraleck works diligently. The wizard can't afford another whipping in the same 24 hour period.
Day 1 - Nightime
Having worked an exhausting day, Kraleck ever-so-gently lays himself down to sleep, hoping his master will visit him in his dreams like before.
Raph |
Day 1- Daytime
Raph would like to look around a bit, having never been on a ship. He'll sneak around a bit, trying to look like he's working (which he is). He'd like to be mopping the foredeck.
Day 1-Night
Sleep. When Sloog drops by, he says, "Why? Do you have a lock? Oooohhh, I understand. No, but I may be able to break one. Is the helpful?"
Carina Greasefire |
Day 1-Daytime
By the end of the day, Carina's nearly crying from how bored she is.
Day 1-Night
Carina smiles grimly at Sloog. "I've been known to pick a few locks before. Let's go do this."

sorry ment to update you before you posted your next action..
Ganly is taken to the quartermaster and given her holy symbol. Then right afterwards she is task to make as much rum as she can and spends the rest of the night drinking with the crew..

GM Bone Man |
ganly its your choice on how much you drink and make. If you want to get the crew to dink more let me get an influence roll. If not they will just drink what they choose and sleep/so there work as normal

Sloog |
Sloog goes wide-eyed as Scruug hands him a fistful of shiny baubles. With a glance over both shoulders to make sure nobody sees his new found wealth, he shoves it into his loincloth. Why yes, Sloog have brass balls.
To Raph and Carina, he grins mischievously and nods. Whispering in the shadows, he says to both, "Yes yes, let's go. Maybe find more than just our stuff, but must be quiet so we don't wind up like those two." He gestures towards Scruug and Kraleck.
GM, I guess that means we're going to sneak and try to break into the quartermaster's office. Ah, the bravery/stupidity of goblins.
Gnaly |
Gnaly grabs the holy symbol and kisses it. "YES! YES! YOU ARE RETURNED!"
Gnaly goes onto the deck and asks for two pints of liquid to be ready; she doesn't mind sea water.
"OH ZOG! BLESS US FOR OUR JOURNEY UPON THE WATERS! GIVE US SUSTENANCE AND PROVIDE THESE GOBBOS AND CREATURES, THE TRUE RULERS OF THE SEVEN SEAS, WITH DRINK! MAY WE ENCOUNTER GREAT FORTUNE AND SINK MANY SHIPS WHOSE BODIES WILL BE SACR-SAC-KILLED AND SENT TO YOUS! LET US PREPAREZ FOR THE VOYAGE AHEAD WITH A DRINK!" Gnaly declares, and uses both her spell slots to turn seawater into rum.
Only two pints at first level though. :P
Gnaly tries to get the crew to drink more...
Persuasion: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 (with +1 from Guidance)
Ugh.. my rolls here are like my RL dice rolls!
Nonetheless, reunited with her holy symbol, Gnaly feels more reassured...
Gadoongo Heineous |
Day 1 - Daytime
Influence Who are my options to Influence? I tried to find a list of NPCs... Just to throw a name, maybe I could go for "Giffer" :)
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 DC 15 once per week to improve influence
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 = 25
Gadoongo works as usual for the day, but tries to take some time and make friendships on the ship. He tells old stories about pirates and the sea, laughs a lot, and at the end hopes to have conquered a new friend.
Day 1 - Nighttime
Influence again... Using the list I found... Will try to influence "Tilly" :)
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
The fat ruffian approaches another of the crew members, bringing two mugs of rum with him. He extends one of them and smiles. He follows by trying to tell stories and get to know the person - and, maybe, make another friend.
Carina Greasefire |
Holy crap we actually have a party face. Impressive, Gadoongo.
Carina looks at Raph and Sloog. "Ready to go? Let's get our stuff back. Want my cooking stuff."
If we do end up doing the whole Teamwork feats every 2 levels, we should absolutely get Stealth Synergy. It's stupidly good when used with multiple people.
