Daseem can't hold back and 'charges' the green cratures. In slow motion though, as the water tames down his enthusiasm. This enthusiasm is completely stopped as the merguy grabs Daseem with his claw.
Bupkis shoots the guy square in the face, wounding him badly. Another merguy comes from the back and attacks Ivan but scratches only on metal. The last one goes for Menrozzar, but even with their fast swimming it's a big distance.

Daseem couldn't understand what had happened, he should have gutted that overgrown fishboy! Darned water was cramping his style and he was bristling at being batted him about like a rag doll. Trying not to get so angry he lost the plot, Daseem gritted his teeth, stepped /waded back towards Ivan and then tried mightily to slice the merguy next to him!

5 foot step is only possible if you have a swim speed. But Vital Strike is a standard action.
Daseems actions still look a bit like in slow motion, and don't hit as hard as he is used to, But as there isn't much left of the guy after Bupkis build up he disappears in a cloud of his own blood.

The battle was glorious, surely Gorum was smiling as he watched from his iron throne. With such zealous thoughts, Daseem whirled upon the merguy he and Ivan where still fighting. He wrenched the holy sword through the water so violently it left a ribbon of bubbles from the cavitation. The white sheet turned red where it intersected the merguy!

Breathing heavily, Menrozzar ended his rage. "One of the swimming ogres escaped. It will likely report to the large gathering we found that we're here. We need to finish exploring this place quickly, and maybe find out what they were doing here."

Daseem shuddered as he considered the fate Bupkis had just escaped, dying in glorious hand to hand combat with a warrior was one thing, getting paralysed and eaten was quite another.
Going to wait for any healing done first!
Rather than think about it anymore Daseem muttered "Eh? What's over h-here?" and went to explore more of the complex.

(J5) A worn, algae-coated statue of an enormous humanoid figure stands at the back of this chamber. The statue holds a large circular disk and is flanked by a pair of stone menhirs.
(J6) Parts of the ceiling of this room have collapsed, and large blocks have crashed through in several places. At the far end of the room lie the remains of a crumbled fountain.
(J7) Much of this room has collapsed. Large blocks protrude through the outer walls and several have settled in the middle of the chamber. A giant metal brazier frosted in a green patina stands on its side, wedged in place against the roof.

2 hp absorbed by the Force Ward, while 11 hp gets through.
"Aagh!", Bupkis complains as the giant crustacean chews him. Finally Menrozzar kills the beast with his spear, and the goblin is free, "Bad hug! Bupkis can use a wand heal."
After searching the fallen enemies, he goes to check the area with the giant statue; he tries to figure out what the merguys were up to. "Maybe detect for magic?"

"H-hoodo?!" Daseem frowned at each of the things, but did as Bupkis asked chanting a spell which Gorum willing would show him any magic auras. Not that Dassem knew about such things of course, all in all he hoped for no Hoodoo, it was simpler that way.
PS Bupkis feel free to roll for healing on the wand, although I'm not really sure how many charges are left.

One of the merguys wears a crude ring that lights up in the magic spectrum. (ring of foe focus DC20) A quick check for pockets on the dead reveals that one of them has two pieces of chrysoberyl (worth 150 gp each). You find those are the former eyes of the statue in the room the mergeys were in.

Sorry for forgetting the Fortitude save earlier.
Bupkis mentions something he looked at earlier, "Weird room back there with rings stacked on each other: big rings on bottom and small rings on top. Inside rings smooth stones covered by dead leaves and sticks. Anyone know what that means?"
He's talking about room J2. I think it's a Knowledge Religion check to understand the significance.

Daseem went to look when Bupkis asked, he shrugged "B-bunch o' stones, nothing of value here."
