Wren quickly and safely guides the group back to the mansion as the Bralani seem to be following something unseen in the opposite direction before losing sight of the pair of them.
Heading back down to the engine level Wren feels around for his magic and finds the mansion still standing.

Alysendra |

Are we resting or going right back out?
Alysendra tries to make sense of the recent encounters while she looks over Jorgan. "I can restore your energy, but not until we rest," she reminds him.
Looking at the group, she is ready to move out when the others are. "Where to next? Back to the gug room, or do we try somewhere new? I'd like to find this Storm Tyrant and end him without having to fight too many more minions," she remarks.

![]() |

Sounded to me like you were dragging Spirit's pieces back to the Manor so that Jorgan could resurrect him.

![]() |

Wren waits to see if a full rest is needed, but hopes the party can continue to fight again.
”Maybe when we go out, we should clean out the rest of the castle before trying to find the Tyrant. There might be more unpleasantness around us,” Wren suggests.
Really need Jorgan and KrayKray to post.

Kraygan Steelkeg |

Kraygan stands back, beard open in a silent gasp as Jorgan works magic of power the likes he has never seen!
”Yer puttin Spirit back t’gether?! How..?!”
Was waiting on a confirmation post from Tyr that this companion resurrection thing was successful.

![]() |

Yup, just awaiting the RP post from Jorgan. :)

Alysendra |

"That's a good idea, Wren," Alysendra replies. "I still have strength to fight, I just don't have the ability to heal Jorgan's hurts. Let's do what we can against the minions, so the Tyrant has less support to call on when we do face him."
Once everyone is ready, Alysendra casts communal resist energy (electricity) on the party, and once they get near to where they first expect trouble, she'll provide 2 shields of faith +4 to whoever can best use it.

![]() |

Jorgan's spell works! The soft light beneath the door sends shadows leaping about the room as the sounds of bones rebreaking and muscle attaching sounds quite horrific.
Though as the door opens there stands Spirit, alive and well. Well as could be expected as large deep scars line the ram's body where it was torn apart but it seems to be the same animal companion as was there prior. Spirit licks jorgan's face, leaving large swathes of drool dripping on the Mansion's floor.

Alysendra |

"Welcome back to the land of the living," Alysendra greets the ram, astonished at the strength of the dwarf's bond with his mount.
Party buffs:
protection from electricity 30 (20 minutes each, one person gets only 10 minutes)
shield of faith +4 on Spirit and Haggis (13 minutes each)
She checks her starknife and magical rods, and looks around. "Let's go kill some giants."

![]() |

Where is is you plan on going after your (R and R) Rest and Resurrection?

![]() |

Wren guides the party back to the first floor, not far from the Gug lair.
He'll wait for others to get into position and is ready to do some exploring.
Put a big red arrow on the map. First map too.

Feel free to continue with pre-buffing.
This room contains a large, rectangular table with chairs to the south, a weapon rack on the north wall, and an ornate side table in the northwest corner. The stench of decay, badly covered by strong spices, comes from the smaller table, which bears a giant platter holding the cooked remains of many animals, humanoids, and other less identifiable creatures.
To the west of this room, a passageway leads to a spiral staircase that climbs up
Guarding the staircase stands a huge lumbering creature. This immense green-skinned brute wields a tree branch for a club and has nine heads, each filled with jutting teeth and tusks. A bundle of seven huge keys hang dangling from his loincloth. He swings the club as it cracks sharply against the wall and roars a cacophonous roar. The multiple roars cause your minds to swim with confusing thoughts as you all hear several different voices.
"Gunginnaar will stop you hear."
"Place you in a cell."
"Rot forever."
"Eat your bones and drink your blood through your entrails."
"Fresh Flesh tastes the best."
"Too little meat on the elf."
"The club bruises the fruit."

Farin vanishes from sight as Kraygan's lance reaches up breaking 5 of the necks on the troll in a single devastating blow.
Wren recalls this particular type of troll as a Jotund Troll. Much like their lesser cousins they also regenerate unless wounded by acid or fire. Their cacophonous roars can cause mass confusion to those around them and if they are able to get their hands around you they will swallow you in an instant.
Alysendra's starknife flits through the air, barley missing Kraygan and Haggis as it sticks into the troll's leg.

Ripping it's head upward the troll moves with amazing speed to swallow the yak whole, the only thing that stopped it was Haggis squirming and hooves blocked a bit of the mouth, though the yak isn't going to last long.

"Well, that's a first. I would not have expected to ever meet, let alone help in defeat a foe like this. These trolls are near mythical, legendary, almost. And now one lays dead at our feet...ha," Wren hisses, trying to enjoy his few remaining hours of life for he would be surely be dead soon.
He will identify the magics, packing only the magics, and be ready to move on.
"Yes, AlleyCatBra, that is a good next step." Wren will follow Alysendra.

![]() |

The troll seemed to be guarding the stairs leading up rather than the door to the south.

![]() |

With the troll defeated the group decides to investigate what exactly it was guarding. heading up to tthe second floor you find a meeting room of sorts.
You are now on the top portion of slide 2 on Floor 2 of this castle.
The walls of this room are lined with decorative wooden panels that enhance the acoustics. The chamber is furnished with a large round table surrounded by eight padded, high-backed chairs. A faintly luminous glass globe sits in the middle of the table.
The glass globe is over 5 feet in diameter and looks to weigh nearly 100 pounds.

Kraygan Steelkeg |

”Har! With Jorgan n’ Spirit back with us we kin face anythin!” Kraygan grabs a pitcher of wine and cheers before pouring some on his face, and partially into his mouth. Shaking out his mane of hair he leads the way up to the next room.
”Oooo, wassat?” He points at the globe, half in awe and half in worry. After all the magical miracles he’s witnessed, he still doesn’t trust the arcane.

Alysendra |

Alysendra takes in the others' words. Is it possible... we actually are strong enough to defeat this threat? Might we... win?
Entering the meeting room, Alysendra looks at the globe worriedly. "What have we here?" she mutters. "Looks like the crystal ball Madame Mvashti uses to foretell the future..." She casts detect magic, but with little hope of understanding the object.

”What are you and what do you do, globe?” Wren whispers to it.

![]() |

Wren is not sure this globe even has a name but it has powerful magic tied to it and the cloud giants. Working through his magical algorithms and knowledge Wren determines a few of the inner workings of the swirling vortex within.
Firstly by touching the globe and concentrating, a cloud giant can telepathically contact any other cloud giant in Ironcloud Keep, as telepathic bond. A non-cloud-giant user that succeeds at DC 25 Use Magic Device check can use the globe to emulate a cloud giant.
Rather than communicate with cloud giants in the castle, however, such a creature can use the globe only for a couple additional purposes. By concentrating on the globe you would be able to determine living cloud giants within the castle as well as distance and direction.
Also The user can sense a telepathic impulses coming from higher in the castle down to the Castle's Engine room. This must be crown that Volstus is wearing that you heard of. The same crown allowing him to steer and control the castle as well as the link to the fail-safe bomb. By concentrating further you would be able to lock in the location of the Storm Tyrant within the castle!

Alysendra |

Alysendra turns away from the ball, since it's clearly beyond her knowledge. She sees Kraygan guzzling the wine, and emits a series of exasperated sputters.
"Wha... don't... what... what?"
Too late, she extends her detect magic to the wine, to see if it had any properties of note.

![]() |

The wine does not contain any traces of magic within it.

Kraygan Steelkeg |

Kraygan coughs and sputters, then lets out a whoop!
”Wow! This stuff is great! Really has a nice KICK to it!” Feeling challenged by the wine, Kraygan takes another guzzling gulp.

![]() |

Wren will explain what the globe does, admiring the magics involved. He really appreciates the worksmanship and efforts. He smiles at the globe.
”This is a really neat magic. Destroy it,” Wren says to Kraygan. ”If we fail, we can’t allow this item to be used in the conquest of everything. Destroy it.”

Kraygan Steelkeg |

Being drunk, I’m not sure Kraygan would hesitate.
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
For good or ill, Kraygan is just a little quicker on the draw.

![]() |

Little does Kraygan know but that kick happens to be a tinge of Ash Leprosy as he gets drunk on giant diseases. Raising his Hammer of Thunderbolts he brings it crashing down on top of the magical orb. The hammer bounces off sending large cracks radiating all throughout the orb. It looks to still be barely functioning but not likely to survive another blow from Kraygan.

![]() |

"Didn't you also say that it lets us FIND the king? We might want to use it ourselves. Perhaps we can hide it? Can you put it in that magical house of yours?"

Alysendra |

"Now, I don't understand this orb, and I agree, we must deny it to our enemies... but we also need to find and kill the Storm Tyrant. If this lets us *find* him, we can go there, now, and kill him. If we just go room to room, we run the risk of being killed before we get to him." Alysendra explains calmly, though inside she is anything but calm. Why is this so hard... if we kill the leader and disable this flying castle, the giants will go back to fighting each other! Surely we aren't trying to kill every giant in the land!

![]() |

Wren prestidigitates some swirling colors near Kraygan, changing them in interesting ways.
Wren looks at Alysendra.
"Great, if you can make it work, make it work. If not, we destroy it before or after you find the King...because if we fail, we can't allow this to exist. Be quick, I can't distract the dwarf for too much longer," Wren urges.

Alysendra |

Alysendra deflates and turns away. "I already said I don't understand the globe's magic, and I have no hope of making it work." She shakes her head sadly.
"Why are we even here? If we're just here to fight, you can do that on the ground, or in the mountains, or anywhere. Hells, let the giants and their flying castle bring war to Varisia, you'll have all the fighting you want."
She points to the globe. "But *that*... that can help us STOP the giants. We can find the Storm Tyrant, go there, and kill him. We can spare the lives of thousands of innocent people on the ground."
"But for that to happen... well, someone would need to *care* about what happens." She draws her starknife and checks her buckler. "Since apparently no one does, let's go kick down another door and see if we live or die."
