"glad to be back, Ragnar, and don't worry too much about them. We're just here to pay our respects to the family, we should only be a few minutes."

Malthu the Redeemed |
Malthu stares right back at the militiaman. He wants to say something to teach him some manners, but decides that talking these days just causes trouble.

"Jagrin don want to see you lot, get the hell out of here. You'll get your chance at the funeral like the rest o us. Anything else?" he waves his hands in a shooing motion to all, but Rormar who of course could go in if he wants to.
Ragha, Roosevelt, Rormar all probably know that Jagrin is among the worst of the orc blood haters in town.

Rurik Rumnahelm |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 Is there a hidden motivation for him to not let us through besides his loathing of half-orcs?
"And who are you to tell us what Jagrin wants, or doesn't want, and where we can and can't go for that matter.", Rurik starts to raise his voice, attempting to make himself appear to be a foot taller, but ends up lowering it saying, "We knew Rodrick personally and want to pay our respects to his father."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Rormar the Red |

"They were just accompanying me here, we were going for a pint and I wanted to grab my bow and quiver first, and we wanted to pay our respects if possible, but we shall wait, right guys?"
Rormar turns around and gives the rest of the team a slight wink.
"I'll be out in just a minute, okay?"
Rormar heads past Ragnar and through the doorway, heading toward his bunk.

Rormar the Red |

Hey! You were supposed to wait for me to go get a drink!
Rormar heads over toward Kurst's room and knocks lightly before inching the door open.

DM ERK |

you have a few options the commons probably has a few kegs set up and a crowd to mingle with(4 on the map). Or you could go to point 15 "The Killing Ground" its the rough and tumble bar of the town, the proprietor serves his own moonshine among other things. Malthu you have probably been there before, haha. I should probably add the key to the map in another url link

Malthu the Redeemed |
The map I see posted has letters and not numbers, so I'm not sure where these locations are. Anyway, didn't mean to derail Rormar's explorations; just trying to give the rest of the party something to do while we wait for his actions to resolve. Would love to learn how Kurst is handling things to see whether he's acting suspiciously.
Malthu addresses the waiting party. "Whaddya say we go to the commons and pass a little time while Rormar does his business?"

Rormar the Red |

Rormar takes a look around the room for anyone else that might be listening before he responds.
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
"Also, how have you been holding up? I really want to convey my condolences, either way it goes."

Rormar the Red |

"Okay, I'll go through what I know. I'll go through all of it, even though you may already know some of it.
We started out in the Ramblehouse this morning and split up into two groups, one went to Brunya, and the other took a look through Rodrik's room.
The Brunya group found out that Rodrik was on an investigation she didn't know the details of and that he had lost his hopeknife, the one given to him by Brunya.
The Ramblehouse group had found a receipt to Sara's smithy for the hopeknife, so they headed out there, and met the Brunya group.
At Sara's we found that the person who made the knife for Rodrik had left without a trace in the past day or two with the owners not knowing where she went.
We then headed to the Sanctuary, looking to see if anyone knew anything, as Malthu and Rurik are there often and Rodrik had been there recently. We heard of a half-ork seer, Katrezra, who Rodrik had been talking to on occasion, but he also seems to have vanished without a trace.
We went to Omast, he knows nothing. Either that or he's been to drunk to do much of anything besides cleaning graffiti.
After that we came here as fast as we could, trying to track down the last reasonable lead."

DM ERK |

"Wow... I uh, that sounds pretty conclusive to me, I understand your hesitation. Hmmm, Katrezra I've seen teh half-orc a few times, he couldn't have gone far. Must be in the outer quarter, i cna't see him getting much past the inner quarter alone. Come to me when you find him, i must speak to him as well, uh after that... we can go to my ff-ather.

Rormar the Red |

"So I can go take a look at Rodrik's room? or would you prefer we head out to find Katrezra first?"
I only ask because if we look for Katrezra, we're going to need to do it tomorrow, since I prefer to not be out after dark in times like these, and chances are we wouldn't find him at night anyway."
Hey DM, thought I left out any incriminating evidence from my overview :P though if it doesn't matter too much, we can just pretend I gave a full rundown of the events

Rurik Rumnahelm |

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
"I could use some ale too, Malthu. I'll try to ask around and see if we can convince people to set up some kegs."
Rurik strolls around the crowd, seeing what rumors are going around about Rodrick's death and trying to convince people to bring out some kegs of ale.

Roosevelt Foster |

Roosevelt looks around incredulously as his friends try desperately to find rumors. Time to show them how it's done...
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

DM ERK |

Rormar, the info you did share was enough to convince him that it was truly murder, and not suicide. He was already mostly convinced, by himself with no evidence.
Rurik and Malthu you only accomplish weirding people out and now find yourselves standing next to each other with no groups of people within earshot. You do see Roosevelt deftly bouncing between groups engaging people. Eventually he settles in talking to a robbed figure.

Roosevelt Foster |

Roosevelt hides a derisive smirk as he thanks the "wizard" and makes his way back over to the group. As he does, he gradually loses his composure, and by the time he gets to the others he's heavily giggling. "Oh man, that guy's a riot. Keeps complaining that he needs special doo-dads to do magic, and since the shop's closed, he can't do any magic! HA! Can you believe that guy? Gosh, you guys on this plane-honestly, you're too much sometimes. 'Oh, I don't have a special piece of chalk, I can't make a color spray!' I mean, come ON! Anyways, we should probably try and find Agrit-she's closed up shop early today and I guess it's holding up all the wizards in town."
I feel like Roosevelt, as a fey, would kind of look down a teensy bit on prepared spellcasters-or at least think that it's really, really funny that they can't do magic as easily as breathing, or walking. If you've ever read the Dresden Files, I think there'd be a lot of similarities with PF faeries to Dresden faeries' spellcasting abilities.

DM ERK |

Kurst replies "Uh sure I'm not sure what you are looking for though. Come I'll get us in."
Kurst speaks with the guard and he simply steps aside. Allowing you two in.
The room is somewhat sparse, contains a bed, dresser, and a writing desk, with shelves above it. There are several books, and scrolls. As you know Rodrik was a writer and many of his pieces are among the other books and scrolls. I assume you will be rolling perception.
As for the other group a short time later as the sun rapidly approaches setting the group breaks up, it seems people want to be home safe tonight. Although the town fully believes the story of suicide, their strongest protector and emblem of hope for the future of the town is dead.

Rormar the Red |

"Sorry, I don't mean to be cryptic, I just heard that Rodrik was a fairly prolific writer, and I wanted to check out if he had any recent writings, and maybe a journal or something that he might have kept, that could lead us to understand his mental state near the end. We obviously want to have all the evidence we can, since you trusted us with getting to the bottom of the case."
Rormar thinks on where he might have stowed the journal.
First he takes a look at the shelves seeing if he notices any plainly bound books that might be it.
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

DM ERK |

Nothing here that looks like a journal. Some unfinished writings, but nothing that is free form or thoughts. It all seems like fiction, not what one would record in a journal about an investigation. In one of the notebooks you find a sketch of Brinya(yes its Brinya not Brunya). But that's it you find.
You also see a painting of a happy family, mother, father and 2 young boys. Probably the Grath's before the death of the mother to orc raiders.
["Yes, but have some respect."

Rormar the Red |

"Thank you."
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Rormar takes a look for any possible hidden drawers on the writing desk first. If none are found he opens the drawers that are on the desk and gingerly riffles through the papers and books for a journal.

DM ERK |

You find what could be a journal, but between the content, especially the lack of Brinya, you'd think a recent journal would mention his betrothed and to add to that the book is full.
If you show it to Kurst he recognizes it as a journal Rodrik keat for sometime a few years ago, but as far as he knew Rodrik hadn't kept the habit after filling this book.
"I don't see anything that can help you uh here. Come to me when you find Katrezra. It seems Rodrik had trusted him more than he trusted others.there aren't many places he could be hiding in the town I don't know many that would take him in. Halgra, Sara, Brinya and the other half-orcs in town are all I can think of."

Malthu the Redeemed |
"This has been frustrating to no end. So many clues, but so little hard evidence. We should meet up again tomorrow morning and seek out Katrezra. I'll return to the Sanctuary and see if he came back, but I wonder if he's not in hiding for some reason. I can't imagine him being involved in the murder, but who knows?"

Rormar the Red |

"Thank you for the help, I know this is difficult. I'll join my group and get on that as soon as possible. We'll get back to you the moment we can."
Rormar gives a slight nod to Kurst in appreciation before heading out the door and then makes his way into the street. After seeing his companions are nowhere to be seen, he heads to the commons to see if they have taken a respite there.
After spotting them milling about and seeing that Malthu is getting ready to leave, he yells across the space "Hey! don't leave yet!" and makes his way slowly through the crowd gathered.
When he arrives, he tries to make sure that nobody around will be trying to hear anything, and conveys what he knows from his encounter from Kurst. "I couldn't find anything other than a old journal of his, probably a couple of years old, so his current one is out there somewhere still. Also, I'm still not convinced on Kurst's allegiance, as he wasn't particularly helpful, though that may be due to grief, and it's tough to tell. Finally, I tried to leave out all the important clues from my retelling of our investigation so far, but even still he is entirely convinced it is murder, but once again, probably due to the grief."

Rurik Rumnahelm |

"Hrm, I wonder where his journal could be? Maybe the same place that Katrezra has run off to? I like Malthu's idea of regrouping tomorrow morning and starting at the Sanctuary."
Rurik turns to Roosevelt, "I'll help you look for Agrit... Any idea where she could be?"
gah, sorry i haven't been posting very often :( my internship ends tomorrow so I'll be more on top of posting every day.

Rormar the Red |

"honestly, I'm a bit tired, I might head back to the longhouse for the night. We're meeting up at the sanctuary? How's dawn sound for a time?"

Malthu the Redeemed |
"Agrit is probably hiding out with Sara. Honestly, could be that the half-orcs and their friends are all going into hiding. We're the ones everyone's gonna blamed if there's an unsolved murder. Anyway, I'm not gonna complain about meeting up at the Sanctuary." It was the natural place for Malthu to be, anyway.

Rurik Rumnahelm |

"I'm actually getting pretty tired too. I'll hit the head as well and meet up with you guys tomorrow at the Sanctuary. Sorry Roosevelt, maybe we will run into her tomorrow!"

Rormar the Red |

Rormar leaves for the longhouse, and heads toward his bunk, setting down his equipment and then prepares to meditate. When dawn arrives, he heads toward the sanctuary.

You are jolted awake by the sounds of Brantos shouting. you can barely make out "... who .... blade for" From what you do make out he does not sound pleased, he is speaking in a tone you've never heard before, as he is a quiet, gruff man, but at the same time hard to truly piss off.
Okay, so Roosevelt and Rurik (me for now) roll perception and sense motive. Last resort effort to have Rormar ignore spoiler. I'll roll Rurik after Roosevelt rolls.

Roosevelt quietly walks back to the Ramblehouse with Rurik and Toorg, scanning around as he does so. This whole situation's got me jumpy...I'm seeing things behind every bush.
