Its is certainly not fresh though no one in the party has the skills to determine just how old, best you guys can guess is within the past few weeks. Something like this would have to be that young because it should have made its way through the towns rumor mill and none of you have heard of it. As Rormar is looking at the post near the Bookshelf he notices something else what appears to be a hopeknife sitting in plain sight. BUT first another round of perception rolls.

Rormar noticed the hopeknife, but he and everyone else failed to notice the Advanced Giant spider hiding in its web in the corner between the bookshelf and the cabinet. It drops from its web and makes a sickening hiss and clacks its fangs. Suddenly 2 younger and therefore smaller but still giant spiders, and a giant spider come up from the hole you guys were observing from the outside. So 1 advanced giant spider, 1 giant spider, and 2 young giant spiders. MUhahahahahahaha.

Roosevelt wheels around and blasts the spider by Rormar with a Color Spray. DC 15 Will

Toorg does what he does best when confronted with something big and scary-he smashes.

Oh, I actually made a mistake. I just put Fenn's buff to my damage roll. It should have been 1d20 + 2 (from strength) + 1 (fenn buff) which would mean I dealt 4 damage, I think.

Roosevelt launches another acid orb-he's getting into the rhythm of things, although he does wish he had a better offensive spell that could actually hurt these things.

Before he gets any angrier at the advanced spider for evading his attacks with all but a scratch, he hops out of range of the spider's reach (next to Malthu now) and starts channeling his inner zen to will his arrows to strike true.

Using my use of perfect strike on the first shot this round (roll twice, take higher of the two, use other dice for crit confirmations)

Roosevelt throws another acid orb at his spider-his back is turned to Toorg, and he really can't turn around right now to see what's wrong. "Toorg? Is Rurik down again, buddy? Just hold on, we're taking care of this guy and we'll be right with you."

The advanced spider moves and then 5ft steps into threat range of Malthu and Rormar.

It bites once again at Rormar.

Rormar Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Rormar falls unconcious and is dying, but succeed in his fort save. So that's good, I guess.

Fenn leans toward Malthu and says "You're messing with my timing bud, don't fret though you'll get it next time." Fenn drops back into his defensive crouch and begins taunting the spider with a series a funny comments, whistling, and wooping noises meant to distract. Nodding to Malthu to attack. Stepping back into his original position, he moves toward an eventually flank the spider.

Free Action - Inspire Courage
Move Action - 5step back toward the bottom of the map setting up for an eventual flank.
Standard Action - Aid Another for Malthu while fighting defensively. Giving Malthu an additional +2 attack against the spider if Fenn hits AC 10 on the spider.

Aid Another: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 4 = -1

Crit failure. Adjudicate as you see fit. Sigh

Gosh folks, I leave for a couple of weeks and there are spiders everywhere! Don't worry though, I'm back. :P

Not sure if it's my turn or not, but I'm rolling for whenever it gets around to me.

Malthu sees Rurik entangled by webs, Rormar bleeding on the ground, and Fennrick fumbling in his efforts to help. He's angry, real angry. "Enough!! Time to squash these bugs!" He steps up and attacks the advanced spider.

Power Attack, Rage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Damage: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (1, 6) + 12 = 19

Malthu returns and murders the spider should things make it to him. If Roosevelt doesn't post tonight we'll just say he missed and I'll post the spiders final action.

The spider does not look happy at all but it is still kicking.

It lunges at Malthu.

it does not find flesh though.

Malthu's attack goes off and the chitinous plates that should defend it from attacks were weakened by Roosevelt's acid attacks and the earthbreak does what it does and breaks the spider. Goo and web cover the space it used to inhabit.

Toorg doesn't respond-he's sitting by the hole, whimpering softly. One could assume that he's just mad that the spider got away, but there's something else there too...maybe the sadness of the loss of a new friend as well.

When you guys get Rormar up he had noticed a the hopeknife on the bookcase.

Picking it up. Rormar or whoever notices that engraved into it is "For Rodrik, My Love". It seems the Brinya's story is confirmed. This must be her knife that she had engraved and exchanged.
