A clearly drained Tyari replies "Uh, yes, but just only. I've made sure he will rest for most of the day. Despite my healing, I'm afraid getting as close to death as he was will still be traumatic, might not be though."
She then has the men that brought Rormar here bring him to the infirmary to rest.

Ramblehouse crew let me know what you guys take from the loot. I think its probably obvious, but just in case you decide to surprise me let me know.
If you depart to the Sanctuary you will make it there unharmed and unmolested. You will be greeted in the main entryway with an angry Malthu and a grim Brantos. Rormar has already been moved so you'll have to be told about it.

As Rurik is standing in the Sanctuary, after making sure Rormar and Malthu are ok, he asks those gathered, "So have any of you been to Freedom Town Lately? Or heard anything about the half-orc who would be plotting against Trunau? Was he or she part of a larger organization? Someone must know that we are all investigating Rodrick's murder to have sent assassins to kill us in 3 different locations."

"Well, I suppose it means we're getting close if someone's scared enough to try and kill us all. Malthu, how're you doing? We had a close call back at the Ramblehouse, but we took care of it easily enough."
Brantos chimes in "You are correct, when someone wants you dead this badly, you've done something very right or very wrong. I do not detect any evil coming off of any of you, so I'm going to assume it's the former from my prospective, and hopefully the town's. Your friend should be fine. You can all remain here for the rest of the night"
Malthu grabs all of the remaining loot with the intention of selling it (probably to Sara Morninghawk) and distributing the proceeds among the party.
"Master Brantos and I took care o' the assassin that came after me. She also said she's from Freedom Town and was hired by a half-orc that had lots of facial tattoos." Malthu shares the details of his encounter.
@DM ERK - Does Katrezra have lots of facial tattoos?
Malthu shakes his head. "Damn it, just another reason for everyone to start suspectin' the half-orcs in town. Once Rormar's back up, we need to find Katrezra and get some answers."

I'll be out until mid afternoon. It might be best for you guys to head out in the morning to see if you can catch the trail before it's too late. Also, maybe once I'm up, we can go talk to Kurst or Halgra and see if they know of any people from Freedom Town that have been by recently or something.
Malthu responds to Rurik. "I thought the half-orc was a man. Urnsul was a woman, right?"
@DM EKR - could you help with clarifying that?
He then changes topics somewhat. "We captured one of the assassins - the one that was after me. I'd been interrogating her. You know, with this strange graffiti showing up, and talk that there's a shortage of shovels, there's one other question I have on my mind. Maybe someone's digging tunnels to get under the walls, or are sapping the walls?"
If he gets the opportunity, he will go back to the prisoner and ask her: "You're from Freedom Town? How did you get inside Trunau? The city walls are shut at night."
You have an hour before the militia will take her, they know you probably had a few more questions.
"As much as anyone is from there. You been? We're human, we came in early this afternoon. We had a man on you lot since then. The orc met us later. Don't ask me how that brute got in. She met us at sundown."

"Did you have anyone you were supposed to meet on the inside of the city? I don't see many of the guards allowing an orc in here, she either snuck in or someone left a door open. Where did you meet her?"
"Look, I been real nice here, I know nothing bout that orc, she met us near the commons, she was already in town. Only she and I assume our employer knows how she got in. " She seems to pretty much shut down here. Getting much more will be difficult. Perhaps the reality of you all being here finally hit her. That means at least some of her friends(more family) are dead.

"Rormar, are there any other entrances into the city that you know of besides the gates? The Orc could also have had help from someone on the inside to get in. Is it possible to see the other side of the cliffs from within the palisade? Someone could have let a rope down for the Orc to climb."
Rurik continues, "Either way though, we should at least let Halgra know that an Orc got in somehow, and alert her of the shovels being bought up (and that they might be related)."
Brantos shows you all to a room with a few beds for you to all spend the remainder of the night in. Its currently around 2 am. . If you listen you can tell he does not return to his own room, but instead remains outside your door. Decide what to do in the morning. Wait for Rormar, he may have information from his time in the Longhouse? Hunt for Katrezra/continue investigating?(multiple of you have some nice hints ;D) Alert the pertinent townsfolk about what you know, mostly these would be council members(Halgra, Sara, Agrit, Jagrin...etc)? Just some ideas :D
If possible, Malthu will address Tyari before retiring. "High Priestess Tyari, Rodrik's death was no accident, and that a tattooed half-orc is behind it. Somehow an orc entered our town past our defenses. This could be a precursor to an attack on Trunau, so we'd better all be prepared. Maybe you can use your contacts to tell the town council? We'll keep investigating - we must be close to something if there are assassins after us."
He then addresses the others. "Let's continue the hunt for Katrezra tomorrow. We didn't have any luck searching the Sanctuary or Ramblehouse, so maybe we can check out Clamor and Hopespring?"
Agrit is Sara's wife. They are council members and both run shops. Sara runs Clamor and Agrit runs House of Wonders. They live above Clamor. Agrit is a dwarf, Sara is a half orc. I believe someone collected a rumor that Sara has always been one to take in the weird ones. ;P I'll either extend this post or make a new one about your arrival when I get home tonight.
As you arrive at Clamor you knock on the door and find an armed Sara opening the door.
"We've been expecting you to come back. Sara hun, they're here."
muffled you here her reply "Already? All of em?" and a few mumbled words after, almost as if she is speaking to another.
Sara brings you inside to the sitting room you were in yesterday. Sara is not in the room. "No the injured dwarf is still unconcious I assume. Before you ask, yes we know. Tyari sent the entire council messages, well just 1 for us, but you get the point."
She comes in carrying a loaf of bread and a few sweets and is followed by a haggard, sickly half-orc. Malthu and other long term residents instantly recognize him as Katrezra. He sits at the table and just stares at each of you in turn.
"I .... do assume... you are heree to speak to me, yes? I cann answer a few of the obvious questions first. Yes the poor boy was murdered. Yes he was leading an investigation of sorts. No I do not know the mastermind of his murder." He then pulls out a notebook he had tucked in his over coat pocket. "Ask away. I know i have much more to explain."
Malthu had so many questions. Where to start? "Katrezra, what is going on? Why did you run away from the Sanctuary? If Rodrik was murdered, why keep it a secret? Were you afraid the assassins would come after you?" He looks to the others. "Agrit, Sera, did you know about all of this too?"
“It would be easier for me to start at the begining. It is no great secret that I was cursed with preternatural visions many years ago, during my time with the Empty Hand. Since I left those savages, many have sought my counsel into matters ranging from the mundane to the dire, but I’m afraid the omens that assault my dreams are nigh indecipherable, even to me, and I have no means of directing them Rodrik originally approached me to ask for advice while courting Brinya Kelver. The love-struck fool—bless his soul—thought I might have some special insights into the traditions of her people or visions of the couple’s everlasting happiness... but come now, do I look like the romantic type?” He smiles wryly, then shakes his head and moves on. “I couldn’t help him with his relationship, but we gradually became close friends. I’d been experiencing vivid hallucinations of white swords or crosses, and dreams of the Plague House outside town. When I told him of them, he seemed to think my dreams might help with his investigation. I told him about my visions as best I could, but the muse of my nightmares is as abstruse as she is unkind.” Pausing for a few moments to catch his breath.
“To be truthful, I don’t think even he knew exactly what he was looking for. Rodrik had run afoul of a flood troll in the Plague House not long ago, and the poor fellow was convinced it was not just an isolated incident. He came to me seeking guidance, and his curiosity was piqued by my visions."
"I told him that flood trolls are native to Belkzen, but they rarely
roam this far south of the Flood Road. Since learning of his investigation, though, I have had nightmares unlike any before, and I fear that some greater evil may be at play within Trunau’s walls. Rodrik had plans to go back to the Plague House, but because of the unease I felt from my visions, I suggested he leave his journal with me, which he did. The night of his death, my visions were even more terrible, though still indecipherable. When news of Rodrik’s death reached me in the morning, I knew it must have been foul play, so I fled the Sanctuary, fearful that whoever targeted Rodrik would come after me as well. His death grieves me to no end, but at least my efforts bought me enough time to share this information with you.”
He slides the journal over the table to you lot.
"Please do not hold this against Sara and Agrit they helped me stay hidden throughout that past days. I was here when you visited yesterday, but we did not know who to trust. This past evening i dreamed of you continuing the investigation, and of danger in the Plaguehouse again and then when word of the assassination attempt came I knew and was able to convince these two bold women to trust you. I implore you go to the Plaguehouse find the evil within, I believe that it is of utmost importance to Trunau's safety."
Malthu listens intently to the grizzled half-orc. "Your visions have always foretold truth, Katrezra. If there's some darkness within the Plaguehouse, we should root it out. Maybe we should get some allies, too - trolls are fearsome enemies. Do you know anything else about these trolls? Do we need fire or acid to burn them?"
He then begins to review the journal, passing it to the others to look as well.
Katrezra chuckles at Roosevelt's question, "You clearly haven't been too far north in the hold. Trolls are beasts between orcs and giants in size, but below most giants and even orcs in intelligence. Malthu is correct to disable their regenerative properties requires acid or fire."
Sara steps in at this point "Jagrin is resisting any moves by the council to increase secrutiy confident that his men will throw back any orc raid. I can give you some aide in basic weapons." she brings who ever wants to check it out to a backroom. "these were all made while i was training others the art of the forge, they are not the best work so I don't normally sell them, but I'd part with any of them for a fair price." Available to you is pretty much any simple and common martial weapons that say the militia might use.
"I've got what I need right here," says Malthu, hefting his massive earthbreaker. "Better bring some torches to handle those trolls, though. Once Rormar's back in one piece, we'll take on the plaguehouse." Malthu will purchase a set of 10 torches for a silver.

"Sounds like a plan! Also actually now that I think about it, Rormar could use a longbow since I noticed he only has a short bow. Do you mind if I grab one Sara?"
Sara takes 15 gold and whatever you want to sell to her as payment for the bow( your junk and stuff left over from last fight).
You guys can head to the Ramblehouse now. Cham is not in the main room, but there are a few natives around. Word is getting out about the assassination attempt, but no one stops you guys.
Malthu looks around the Ramblehouse, surveying the scene of the attack against Rurik, Roosevelt, and Toorag. He's a bit surprised that there's not more of a commotion. "So, I guess everyone's keepin' quiet about the assassins," he says. "What did they do with the Orc? I wanna see if I can recognize what tribe she came from. Might tell us something about who's behind all this." Malthu sees if he can track that down.
Yeah, we're waiting for Rormar to awaken before going to the Plaguehouse.
Okay stepping in now. BC4Realz and whomever is interested
my thoughts:
. I do find that your character is minmaxed as in all he does is brute strength stuff, he will contribute very little outside of combat. The first half of book 1 and therefore the next few weeks to months has little combat, while technically he does fit within the rules laid out, I have some suggestions below.
As for the full blooded orc issue here are my thoughts. PBP is already slow. Having to stop and deal with citizens running or attacking a party member already will only slow it down further. In real life i might be more wiling to deal with it where for every "hour" you are in Trunau there is an X% chance of some one freaking out over you, but I don't want to slow down an already slow first half to do something along those lines. Half-orcs mostly get a pass because they are generally the product of male orc - female humanoid, well no way around this, rape, they are a product of orc brutality. Trust of half-orcs is a theme in this AP.
Consider switching to a half-orc, and thinking a bit about the 3 stats you have dumped and how you have dumped them. I struggle to think that the character wouldn't have some form of wilderness/street smarts(read wisdom). Remember 10 is considered average for a humanoid. He at least survived among an orc tribe for a time and would know some form of societal expectations. or how to avoid a beating.
if you would like to continue this conversation, BC4realz, PM so as not to clutter up recruitment too much. Thank you.
As for others thank you for your opinions and keeping things mostly civil.
Probably just easier to start from scratch then...rather than rebuild the concept.
You are right...he is probably better in a face to face game anywyas.
Thinking a Halfling Cavalier w/ a pony mount (was thinking wolf, but the flavor doesn't seem right...seems more goblin than halfling I think). Outrider and Lowblow ARTs.
Part of the the outer patrols of Trunau...an actual outrider if you will.
Just a rough concept for now. I will get a full build up by tomorrow night probably. Right now it is time for bed.
So, GM, before I just start on the personality, is there anything that I need to change on the background? I may think about switching the favored enemy to humanoid (orc) and changing the background to where the assaulter in her background was a half orc.
Here's my character one more time, just to make sure you have the crunch on hand. And these will be the actual names for future reference.

@koolkobold background is great proceed to finish her up.
@bc4realz most of those orders are quite applicable, with the sovereign or noble being the city council of Trunau, another neighboring city, or a nation with a shared bored with Belkzan.
Also I'm going to ask anyone with a completed submission, that has not posted since mid Tuesday to just dot again before closing time tomorrow, so I know your're still alive and watching. Thanks again everybody.
Need to work on the fluff submission between now and tomorrow, will have it up in time to submit.
Right now thinking of a Halfling that is a member of the guard patrolling the outer wall. The normal happy halfling exterior has been sanded away by the sight of too many Orcish raiding parties (hence the relatively low CHR).
Hardened by battle, he has decided that no more innocent lives will be lost or taken away in to slavery while he watches. He would rather die first. (order of the shield).

Seara grew up in Last Wall, moving to Trunau with her father who was attempting to become a member of the Black Arrows. Seara grew up with a weapon in one hand and a shield in the other. Training with the children native to Trunau in defense of the town. Seara never hated orcs but learned to not trust them overly because of their ugly nature and their ruthlessness. Seara trained to become a member of the Militia and to this day is a member of Kursts patrol. Seara loves maps, she likes to go on patrols to create new updated maps for Trunau's records so that way it is easier to note anything that might be out of the ordinary. Seara not being a native member of Trunau does not carry a hope knife, she does carry a dagger and would use it in the same fashion that a hope knife is to be used for.
Rocco and Kurglun re-dot, just to be in line with the request. :D
Edit: Oops! Just realized I never uploaded a proper background. Here it is!
Fluff:
Rocco Hardweather is a bit of a jerk. At least that’s what any of the other halflings at the Ramblehouse in Trunau will tell you, should you be inclined to ask. Of course, if you did ask, you’d soon have Rocco after you, with all of his 3 feet and 1 inch of height right in your face…or where ever that height might get him. He would tell you to mind your own business, to think about who you’re asking around about and what you think you’re doing before you ”get yerself a knuckle sammich!”
Of course, despite all of the usual talk, there will be a few people who will tell you a different story about Rocco. They’ll tell you about the time that the half-mad and all-starved half-orc came wandering into town, smelled the food at the Ramblehouse, and decided he oughta take what he wanted by force, no “please and thank you” at all! They’ll tell you how all the halflings at the House did what they always do when the town is attacked - they attacked back, and this was only one half-starved half-orc. This would be over before it even got started. But then Rocco showed up, all blustery and bothered and madder than a goblin trying to do sums. He told everyone to cut it out, that the poor old green-skin probably didn’t know no better and that everyone had better stop fighting and go on their way or they’d have to fight him too.
After the fact, no one could tell you why, but they listened. They stopped fighting. But it was a bit late. Young Grimbow had taken one last shot with the bow he was named for before Rocco could stop him and had done the orc some real hurt. Rocco took the orc in, nursed him, even got him feeling better for a while, but it wasn’t enough. Rocco and the orc, who said his name was Kurglun the Runner, became real close pals in those last few weeks, and Kurglun told him over and over that he was scared. He said he was scared of his orc tribe - that’s why he had run off and ended up in Trunau; he was scared of being alone; but most of all he said he was scared of dying. Rocco told him over and over he wasn’t gonna die, and that he would fight off any old orc who tried to hurt Kurglun, and that he wouldn’t let him be alone, but it didn’t do any good. The poor thing passed a few weeks after showing up at the Inn.
But he didn’t stay gone for long. Rocco woke up in the middle of the night covered in some weird, shiny goop. He got up, all scared and confused, and looked around to see if some prankster had dared to stick around long enough for him to catch them in the act, but he quickly saw something he didn’t expect. His bed, the same bed where he had cared for Kurglun for weeks, showed the imprint of a body in it, and not a halfling body. This was the imprint of a man-sized body, or an orc-sized one. The goop began to glow brighter and pulse with energy as Rocco thought back over the weeks he had cared for Kurglun. Suddenly, the goop jumped up off the bed and off of Rocco and formed into a shape just like Kurglun. Except this Kurglun was…wrong. His mouth was open wide and slack in an eternal scream, and his wide, white eyes showed absolute terror. Rocco immediately recognized what had happened. Through those weeks of care and attention, Kurglun’s spirit had become tied to his own, and now they would be inseparable, a pair of outcasts and bullies.
Rocco Hardweather is still a jerk, but there’s no one in Ramblehouse Inn who will say that to his face. Not anymore.
Fluff built. Pretty comfortably with the character as stated. So I think I am done unless you see any glaring defects that I should fix before the final selection process.

Backstory:
Akella only recalls her mother, who was taken in by the people of Trudeau after being recovered from a party of young orc raiders. The pregnant dwarf could not speak, her tongue having been removed by the orcs, and the only laid claim to a single battered waraxe from the orc's spoils. The town's folk expected her to give birth to a half orc, but instead Akella proved to be a perfect little dwarven babe.
Sadly her Mother was a deeply unhappy woman, mad with grief, who beat and berated her daughter constantly; Akella became nearly feral often spending weeks out in the wilds, and gradually training and learning to speak with the residents of a nearby rabbit warren - where she often slept.
After some thirty years, she met and fell for a Dwarven mercenary named Stoft, and with his aid managed to piece together some of her past. From the symbols of the axe her mother always held dear she learned that she had belonged to a clan who's small hold had been destroyed by giants in the far north. She had Stoft teach her the dwarven giant fighting traditions, and the two were eventually married.
Stoft's company is presently engaged in the lands that were once the World Wound, and much to Akella's annoyance he refused to allow her to accompany him. It has been six months and she is angry and frustrated by their separation - and his very brief, very occasional letters.
She now lives in a small hut on the outskirts of Trudeau, making a living collecting herbs, and pelts which she sells in town. She rarely speaks with her mother, but drops off food every few days - family being family. She is friendly with the townsfolk, but becomes uncomfortable around more than a few people, and tends to prefer her own company.
Personality:
Akella is sensible, shy, and has a low opinion of herself. She is both deeply in love with, and currently, very irritated with her husband Stoft, who she adores and often day dreams about. Never much of a talker she would dearly like to make some close friends, but finds the task of making them very daunting.
Her animal companion, a huge rabbit called Bigwig, recently passed away, and she cannot bring herself to replace the dear old fellow.
She gets an Animal Companion at 4th level, and will likely take the feat to bump it up to full level. I thought it was worth it since there is already a companion in the party, and it gives her a better connection to animals than most with the animal domains spells and speak with animals ability.
I now consider recruitment closed. I'll let you all know my decision later this evening. Thank for the wonderful submissions, you've all made my life a little hard.
