Has anyone heard anything about Iron Gods sanctioning while we were gone? I was hoping they'd announce something (even just a "coming soon!") while we were gone. We still have a ways to go but I hope they get it sanctioned before we finish the first book so we don't have to delay until it gets released.

The good news is that it will be sanctioned, and that it shouldn't be as long as Wardens of the Reborn Forge. The bad news is that it doesn't rank very high on their priority list.

Yeah, I saw that. We're getting dangerously close to finishing book 1 though. And Wardens took about a year to sanction so that's not a very high bar to beat. Hopefully they at least sanction the first book in the next month or two (it did come out in August after all) so that we don't have to stall so as to make it official.

When we first started playing I honestly didn't think it would take them this long to sanction it but I should have learned by now not to rely on speedy sanctioning.

What happens if we reach the end before sanctioning? Do we put the game on hold while we wait, pausing just before the boss fight?

Since the low-level chronicle sheets are usually the most useful ones, I wouldn't like to miss the first one if we could help it.

If it were up to me, we could just keep going and I would pass out chronicle sheets once they are released. But since retroactive credit is not allowed, we technically can't finish Book 1 until the chronicles are released or we forfeit our PFS credit.

So yes, we'd have to pause just before the last fight of the book and wait for the chronicles to be released before it was finished. It's silly and stupid and if it were up to me we would just keep going and get the chronicles when they are released, but as far as I understand it we don't have much of a choice unless I hear something else from the leadership or our resident VC.

If we, um, sold the scroll of resurrection it would be a lot of money. Like, 6k. But, I suppose it is a nice item for a rainy day, in 10 levels or so.

What the heck is the power relay useful for?

Also, remind me if we run across a white access card. We've got an unopened case that needs one.

I think that Libri or Taran should get the Swarmbane Clasp, so that we have a reliable way to deal with swarms when they arise. Taran should get the magical hammer to be able to do damage to creatures with DR/magic, until we find/craft a better suited weapon for him.

I'm not sure it would be wise to sell that scroll, since it could be very handy should something bad happen.

Jorac will gladly claim the radiation detector if no one wants it, along with a couple batteries.

I'm pretty sure I can cover the whole magic weapon situation in other ways, being half-cleric and all. Besides, Torag would want me to have a real hammer, not some puny light hammer! But, I can carry it until we sell it.

Have two batteries. I'm guessing the other ones should live with Mefindio, in case he gets around to using that stun pistol.

I sold the mwk. short sword, mwk. hand crossbow, screaming bolts, and funky camoflauge suite, since I figured nobody would miss them. Feel free to correct me if I was in error.

Does the weird relay work? Low is bad...
1d100 ⇒ 39 - well, guess we do not need to worry about that. Or maybe we do? Does Jorac have some weird abilities or magic to get worn out things to work?

EF: Ruling/clarification

Are tech weapons "beam", "missile", or "rays"?
Does it depend on the type or damage? (Laser, Shock, Railgun, etc)
How do they interact with deflect arrow, miisile shield, ray shield?
What about things like amulet of bullet protection?

I think the amulet is specifically for bullets so I don't think it will do anything against lasers/beams/etc. The same applies to Deflect Arrow and Missile Shield.

As for the others, I'll have to think and/or look into it more. I think it would depend on the type of weapon. The Technology Guide might actually have more information about that but I don't remember off the top of my head.

As for Jorac, he could use one of those cloaks (wizard saves really suck). Buying a few scrolls (divine and arcane) would also help tremendously, I think.

Unfortunately they don't give Khonnir's spellbook (I hate when they do that) but here's what he has prepared in his statblock:

RE: scrolls: Like in PFS, I don't make a distinction between arcane and divine scrolls in my games, just so you know. I think it's kind of a silly rule and just tends to muck things up.

Just to clarify (and looking at the latest homebrew rules document) we are doing wounded/severely wounded at 1/2 and 1/4 hp, but we are not doing fatigued/exhausted for spellcasting?

Other than than, I'm okay for now. I'd like to upgrade to +1/put enchantments on the longsword eventually, but for now I've got points from my arcane pool to make my weapon magical.

So....

We have two encounters left in book 1. I'd really hate to put this campaign on hold but it's looking like we don't have many other options if we want to get PFS credit for it. With the announcement about the Core Campaign being set up, I'm sure the leadership has a lot going on so I don't expect this to get sanctioned in the immediate future.

If anyone has seen a timetable or reference to ETA about sanctioning, let me know. Or feel free to go bug John Compton on the boards about when this will be sanctioned so we know approximately how long we'll have to wait before finishing book 1 and going on to book 2. Maybe our resident VO would have better luck on their super secret boards finding out about that?

I've been watching the boards closely, and as far as I know no date has been announced. The thread Tektite mentioned is the only one to talk about it, and John just basically said "soon if time allows but I'm very busy".

I don't mind waiting if that's necessary, that being said.

Ah, okay, no worries!

I think I will take the mwk chain shirt; the extra armor bonus will be nice. Selling the +1 studded leather will bring in 587.5 gp, and I'll spend 1000 to make the new armor a +1 chain shirt. That brings us to 8508.2 gp. Selling the +1 light hammer will bring in another 1150.5, so we're up to 9658.7 gp. I am also going to pick up a mwk composite longbow with +3 strength so that I can do things at range if need be.

mwk composite longbow (+3): 700 gp
40 cold iron arrows: 4 gp
20 cold iron blunt arrows: 4 gp
Silver weapon blanch: 5 gp
Ghost salt weapon blanch: 200 gp
Total: 913 gp

With those purchases, our total is now at 8745.7 gp.

Do you guys think it would be beneficial to invest in any potions at this point? Bless weapon, remove fear, remove paralysis, etc?

EF, you mentioned Ultimate Campaign's downtime system. I would definitely be interested in that. Here are my thoughts/projects for now, please let me know what you think. To the others, feel free to have a look of course!

Jorac's downtime project... for now:
There's one very important question that will influence all my projects though: are we going to remain in Torch for long? Or come back to it often? I wouldn't like to invest in a business if we're always away. Provided that we hang out in Torch a good deal of the time, I'd like to:

  • Buy an abandoned building or build one to host my house, my technological and magical lab (I want to call it "Magitek Facility", as a tribute to one of my favorite games of all time), and eventually my apprentices.
  • Start with a basic lab that I could improve in time, if we gain access to interesting pieces of technology. The lab would be mainly a R&D place for me (and Taran if he so wishes) at first.
  • Improve my relationship with Master Khonnir, and try to convince him to research in-depth the vessel we've found. Search the ship for parts/systems that I could use for my lab, or for Torch in general. If I find something that could benefit the community, I'd also be all in favor of installing it and fixing it for them, if that's within the range of my abilities.
  • In time, I would like to take apprentices of my own, who could help me in my research, and whom I could teach how to weave together magic and technology (hence "Magitek").

@Jorac: Book 2 will take you away from Torch for a while and to be honest I haven't read through the other books yet. My understanding is that the AP will take you away from Torch for a bit but Torch will always be your home base, similar to Sandpoint in Rise of the Runelords. And it seems that there will be time between the books and maybe even during the books to return to Torch for a while and work on your businesses.

Jorac, that sounds like a good split-up of everything! Also, yes, Libri is able to use the potion of CLW. Unless you were asking if it would be useful to me to have a potion of CLW, in which case, yes, always, to that also, ha. I do currently have one potion of CLW, so I am fine for now, I think. We can always pick up a few extra if you guys think that would be beneficial.
