If I might suggest, what I did in my game that needed recruits was have them all RP with each other in the recruitment thread as a Phase 2. You can see the results here. It gave the existing players a really good idea of the characters and players and how they'd post, and even how often. Worked great, only problem was we have to narrow it down now and they all did an awesome job. Plus it invests them in the game.

I'd have them meet in a bar on the space station and interact, then pick the characters and builds we like best?

OK, maybe it's just me, but the person with the fungus character seems a bit too creepy and likely to be trouble in a party. The idea of a parasite race which intends the infest the planet with fungus parasites and acts like a sociopath (cheery and bonhomie but not actually giving a damn) is not someone I want on my team.

Nope, not just you. Interesting concept, but... ick. Sounds more like something we'd run into as a BBEG.

I think the concept could still work, but it would need to be something more like the symbiote life from Star Control III. The ones that were hive minds that colonized other (non sentient) life forms and used their bodies as their habitats.


No I am right there with you Bishnu... it took me several justifications to wrap my mind around it. Always coming back to that point of wanting to infest the world with fungus parasites bothers me too much, let alone I know several individuals in the party that would incinerate him if he ever said such a thing...

Perhaps I should tell him to make another race.

Yeah, I don't know that that someone who thinks that was a good idea for a normal campaign is likely to really come up with something bearable. I have a bad feeling he's one of those that plays chaotic neutral as a pass to play evil, but with excuses. He probably needs a Way of the Wicked game or such.

I intended for Huc to have those. I could make do without, but I'd love to have them. let me know your thoughts.

Just want so talk about how plaers and GM worked out guns for this one.
we had a long chat about this in game, over what level of tech GUN would be allowed. The feeling was that
Guns with High DMG and Touch range attack would over balance the game Vs fighters and there AC based stuff.

In your last post you had it down as a

a truly massive sword/cannon hybrid weapon

Now are you

1: Using this as a Cannon with TRA and big DMG.

or

2:is it used with you Energy ray Power, meaning its used with Power Points etc. giving it limited use.

or
3: Another way.

Have a look at Aannra's sheet and her Gun, its really an Air gun that uses Normal attack over RTA this way keeping the power level for guns at a level that lets fighters with Armor have a chance.

My plan was not to use the weapon as a gun in the traditional sense so much as a specialized weapon that goes hand-in-hand with his power armor. Now, mechanically, we're just looking at full plate armor and a large bastard sword.

I was going to fluff his offensive ranged psionic powers (energy ray is the only one available at this point) as his "cannon", and that it only works when connected to the power suit and in Huc's hands.

does that make sense? So there would be no ammo, no firearm rules, and it doesn't really work for anyone who doesn't have his armor/training.

Really it's just reflavoring the regular ole mechanics of his weapon choice and class abilities.

Yep see where your coming form, its a Power Focue more than a Classic gun, as TRA is kind of band for guns at the moment, would have to take the GM ok to clear, it to be more like Aannra's would. She has advanced gun training.

Note: you also have

Surge Blast (Su): A wilder can channel her wild surge into a blast of uncontrolled phrenic energy. As a standard action and by expending psionic focus, the wilder can make a ranged touch attack (range 30’) that deals 1d6 points of force damage for every +1 to her wild surge.

That can also be liked for fluff to the gun/Sword that then gives you two kinds of PSIonic round you can fire, Energy ray limited power day but Surge Blast powered by ok you have to have wild Surge up and you lose focus but its still there.

Also, you could say the gun as Crystal slots where you can fit in PSICrystals that have powers stored in them.

err Velden we dont have any Comm's, She may get mindlink next level but until then Velden talking into a mike thats not there, I blame the heat, hehe now you wanted to snipe way back there, look she just going to see the ship, Bishnu just told her the pod was not their problem, so shes off to see what tech she can get off the crashed ship :)

Did he, I'm not saying your wrong Velden, but I asked about this and a few other things Tech wise, and had to pay v starting coin, Her gun Scope, Gass mask etc. When we got the Sat phone and Recorders, that was added then. I just don't see the GM giving away 'minor standard tech' when I had to pay for a dagger/Gass mask and other low tech stuff.

I agree walkie-talkie headsets would be more than fecking usefull. But do we have to get them V starting coin and I have LONG list of other 'minor standard tech' I would like Aanna to have,

Binoculars with range finder.
Stuff in her S-Knife.
wrist Computer / Tablet with all data files on the planet
radio Tracking rounds for her gun.
Auto compos
Small Digital Camera.

Yep, the reflavoring of the Wilder abilities is just ripe with options as we acquire more gear and abilities.

Im assuming that people would recognize the weapon for what it is... some sort of specialized heavy infantry hybrid weapon that is useless in most folks hands... well, except for the big-ass blade it sports.

I'm guessing in a pinch, Bishnu could grab up the sword and do some serious damage with it. >:D


Huc, the others were given a small boost, and you will have yours too.

Avizzi PM me or make a stab at what you might want as a boost... it can be almost anything.

I love reflavoring Huc, sounds good so far.

Velden you don't have the walkie-talkie headset. Make sure it is in your equipment. You might be able to scavenge some from either of the downed pods/craft.

I'd be happy to put down the cost of headsets, except there aren't any in the system. So.. I don't really know how to pay for something that doesn't exist... Unless the GM set some prices I missed? I'd just assumed anything like that was covered under background if it was cheap enough (clothes, underwear, hats, a picture cube with pictures of home, and so forth).

Huc knew because Five is talking to us through some kind of sphere. He had already said that he had a group on the ground on Pandora. When Velden and Bishnu walked away, Huc turned to ask Five what the group looked like… Five responded by describing and naming you guys.

So, on a hunch, Huc yelled out the first name Five described… which was Velden.

And he’s calling out because coordinating with the existing team seems like the best way to do his job… which is security. Strength in numbers and all that.
