OK, i know what furious and conductive are, but I'm a bit fuzzy on runic and 'of power' as abilities.
I'll be inclined to take the adamantine falcata and the bastard sword myself and possibly the hammer since it does have furious on it.
GM Wolf
The other words are flavor for how powerful the item actually is, just furious and conductive special abilities are on the Runic Warhammer, for now. You never know what might happen if you hang onto it.
I will be making a spreadsheet for loot that has not been claimed and where the items are presently. PM to remind me.
Scythe +2
Scythe +1, flaming
Scythe silver +2, [+1 ability of your choice)
Great Club cold iron +1
Scimitar +3
Kukri (not cold iron, silver, or adamantium) +1, Eager
Composite str +1, Longbow darkwood +1
Chakrams (not cold iron, silver, or adamantium) +1
Velden I had actually assumed that, cleric would make more sense considering Velden as a character. Understand that I don't want anyone to be taking more than 3 classes, when you take the third class you lose your favored class bonus for that level.
Bishnu Shrestha
Actually Ghost touch is only a +1 ability offensively. It is a +3 ability on armor/shields.
Velden Lansell
As stated, Velden's unlikely to take the weapons as is for sentimental reasons. What he's more likely to do is either try to get the enchantments transferred to his bow, or sell them and use the money to enchant his bow. Not sure which is allowed. Same with his sword (given it's a holy relic, it's unlikely he'd replace it).
On that note, when he eventually does take some cleric levels, given the sword is a holy item from his goddess, will it count as his Divine Focus?
Bishnu Shrestha
Bishnu will be taking the bastard sword, the adamantine falcata and the warhammer he as been wielding. Then I think we were going to rest for a spell.
Velden Lansell
Velden will take all the bows, they don't weigh much of anything (16 lbs total). He'll also take the potions. What was in the last two chests?
Also, if any of the remaining weapons that the others are not taking have sun symbols on them, he'll take those as well. Especially if they match his goddess's symbol.
GM Wolf
Each of the glass jars could easily hold a gallon of liquid. They are not potion vials. Unless you are talking about the vials in the ingredients chests.
Claptrap are you using something specific to lull the serpent to sleep. All I know right now is that you are singing to it in Draconic.
Tonight I will advance the plot with the given information. It looks like you are all around the chest ready to whack anything that comes out. Claptrap is singing to it, even though he can see it is very active.
*Karn takes 2 scythes, Avizzi takes over a dozen daggers, Velden takes at least 8 bows, Bishnu takes 3 weapons, Claptrap takes 8 weapons*
Aannra._Blake
Hi all
Look guys once your all dine with this volt do you mind if I come back into play. I am happy to wait.
CL4P-TP
Since i was quite busy the first half of this week i realize some of my posts have been lacking, and i forgot to do some things :(
Firstly Claptrap isnt singing, yet. He is just talking to the snake in draconic like Velden suggested. The luliby part was just him being his usual wonky self.
I have taken 7 weapons, a fire bead from the skellie and the jar of fire jelly. I am also attempting to trade my +2 merciful scythe for Karns fire bead :)
The 3 alchemy checks i forgot to do for the remaining jars.
Craft Alchemy 1: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Craft Alchemy 2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Craft Alchemy 3: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Next i post then i do my equipment.
@Aannra. I dont mind :) You will have to take it up with the others/GM but you get 1 vote from me.
CL4P-TP
Ok my equipment is done, including swaping everything from the gobomobile over to my personal inventory and i am just barely sitting in medium load.
I dont have any weight for the following, so that can change up some things a bit.
24 sticks of tnt
1 shaped charge
7 detonators
Fire jell (ranged touch attack, 2d6 fire damage for 3 rounds)
2 stacks of notes labeled "Eridium Project Notes: Injecting Into Biologicals" and "Growing Eridium Fail" respectively
book on how to create bullets
Turret Schematics
1 Eridian artifact of unknown use
8 Eridian bars
Eridian Torch
5 repair kits for service bots
spare parts for service bots
homing beacon
satellite phone
code breaker
If you want to "weigh in" on any of these, be my guest. Otherwise i will give them all resonable weights around 1/2 to 1lb each.
Currently at:
*Encumbrance* 49.75lb
Light 43.5lb, Medium 87lb, Heavy 131.25lb
CL4P-TP
Haha, i mention metal and everyone backs off as if i said "rust monster" ^_^
Actually, what would happen if i came in contact with a rust monster? >_>
So it looks like it is just me and Velden still at the chest? (Because of course the metal tin can wouldnt back away) well lets hope deplomacy works ^_^
CL4P-TP
Good to know! Rust monsters will be one of those things i run away from at top speed screamimg my lungs out! >.>
Bishnu Shrestha
one question, is this combat before or after we leveled to 3rd?
Velden Lansell
We haven't leveled to third at all have we? I didn't miss something that important did I?
Bishnu Shrestha
He said once we rested, we would be 3rd. Not sure if we rested or not.
Velden Lansell
Hmm, I missed that, but no, we haven't rested yet.
Bishnu Shrestha
Then I don't see this going well.
5d6 is pretty harsh damage.
CL4P-TP
Hey Wolf, can you move me from inactive player/character to active player? It keeps showing up in my previous campaigns tab, thanks :)
Aannra._Blake
same here
GM Wolf
The group has not rested so you are still 2nd level. I will make you both active. We will see how this goes... You may want to act on a few of the clues I haved dropped on the group. Remember the world is built as is, sometimes a threat may be more than the group can handle at certain times. Anyone got a HUD/Echo Device? If so you may take a move action to have it analyze the threat level. ;)
Velden Lansell
I think you're confusing us with the original group. None of us got huds or echo devices on landing. We just have to find out things are too powerful by getting killed.
Velden Lansell
I didn't say you didn't hand them out.
I said you must have given them to the previous set of players. As I never got, and I know Avizzi didn't, and neither did Bishnu or Kharn, to the best of my knowledge. Claptrap doesn't have one either, unless he has neglected to tell us he got it in PM, it hasn't come up in game.
Aannra might have one, no idea, she's got all sorts of weird stuff. Velden's a pretty simple straight forward archer by comparison.
Bishnu Shrestha
It's kind of hard for a PbP to make any sense whatsoever if the monsters are on round 4 when the players are still getting around to round 2. The fact that the descriptions of the actions are rather uninformative don't help much as does the lack of a map.
To be quite honest, since I have entered this room I barely had had any idea of what has been going on. I would rather die of a legitimate combat rather that confusion caused by incoherent posts.
CL4P-TP
I do have some odds and ends that i have no idea what they do, but no ECHO device :)
Among them,
A satalite phone (call for backup??)
A codebreaker (point me at any safes)
A homing beacon (lol???)
Random pages of random notes (growing eridian and ejecting into biologicals, building bullets, turret schematics. Hes a bit of a collector)
Unknown eridian artifact (it should be fun later on ;)
Ya, he has fun collectables :)
Bishnu Shrestha
Ok, it seems that I'm the only one with an issue, so I'll just bow out. See you all later. Have fun.
Karn the Virtuous
I agree with Bishnu on this. I need a chance to react and continue to heal when needed.
Also, the threat level of this is overpowered for our level. Karn is retreating and decides that outside has a better chance of survival than this madhouse.
I'm bowing out at this point.
CL4P-TP
Wait, what? Where are you going?
Lets try to resolve this, as i would still like to have you here.
Give it some time for people to respond
Velden Lansell
I agree a map would have helped.
Aannra._Blake
great I come back and the game implodes
was its something I said?
:<
Velden Lansell
I just think there's been some frustration build up that finally erupted.
Avizzi the Strange
Not sure if this'll help or just make things worse, but it seems to me that some of the problems that have just come up are common issues with PbP in general. After writing out the following, I decided it might be a bit much and it's a relatively long post, so I've spoilered it. Read if you want.
From what I recall and think, the room we're currently in is roughly rectangular, with alcoves where there were skeletons. There are also a number of chests and weapon racks in the room. The main important tactical features are a drop in and stairs leading out. Right now I believe Velden is back near that drop, and the snake has moved adjacent to him. I might be totally wrong, but that's how I figure things.
Second, pacing of combat is difficult. If we all wait for each other to post in an initiative order like the game typically suggests, then 1 round might not be completed for a day or two, depending on how often players and the GM get on and post. A lack of concrete initiative can help (or hinder on occasion), as can a GM proactively posting what's going to happen and then giving the players time to post their actions. If GM Wolf knows the snake has to spend a whole round moving to Velden, and will then attack in the next round, what's wrong with him saying that and then saying that we have 2 rounds of actions to post? It's not like he skipped our turns or said "Okay you guys didn't do anything these rounds while my monstarz pwnd u lolz." We're getting a chance to post, too.
As for threat level, I haven't been here since the beginning, but I understand from posts that GM Wolf does have a policy of danger. He's putting us through some rigorous, dangerous stuff here. That trap room was killer (almost literally), and when the dice don't go our way bad things happen. AC 26 is a tad high, but my guess is that this creature doesn't have a ton of hit points; one or two good hits will most likely bring it down. Hell, Claptrap just blasted it with at least 6 damage, that alone might do it. This snake is probably a hard-to-hit, high-damage glass cannon that's going to break once we smash it, and that's a bit more interesting than an AC 16 monstrosity with 80 HP. Plus, we're gestalt characters with decent point-buys who just got a bunch of nice weapons, and had a chance to rest but decided to open the chest. We bit off a chunk that we're now not sure we can chew; we've made our collective bed. Time to sleep in it. Threat level is what makes the game exciting and fun. Wading through low-level enemies is very fun now and then, but it's the fights you almost lose that make the best victories.
Maybe this was all totally out of turn for me to say, since I haven't been in this game as long as the rest of you, but it's been incredibly fun so far. Dangerous, yeah--between very real challenges and the sheer hatred the dice roller seems to have for this character, I'm amazed he's still alive. But it's a lot of fun gaming here, the character interaction's great, overcoming those dangers is exciting, and GM Wolf has obviously put a lot of effort into this game. I don't presume to think this will keep anybody from walking, and maybe this is all coming from IRL stuff I'm going through right now, but it's good to put things in perspective. You've gotta take the good with the bad.
tl;dr: Games have ups and downs, and this one is a lot of fun. I for one am sticking with it.
CL4P-TP
I agree with Avizzi there, and i would love to stick with this character as Claptrap has been by far my most favorite character. Thats why i took the risk of trying to get back into this game :)
He is a cheery little guy in a deadly, dour world and he has just enough randomness/insanity/quirkyness to really be a colourful character. For instance he has all this random crap on him and the GM has been huge with what he has been willing to work with us to do (like shaped explosives, repair kits, or the featherfall effect when Velden fell down this hole).
My main worry is that Claptraps in character annoyingness would translate into out of character annoyingness, but if someone comments on it, i can tone it down.
I also am having a lot of fun and am sticking with it :)
GM Wolf
Honestly It would be hard for me to make a 3D map. I was hoping by certain actions being taken there would be no need of a fight. The group chose to fight. I will try to be more descriptive and direct with OOC, to make sure I am clear on actions taken.
I thought that my moving ahead in rounds would move things along with the game. I am sorry that it is confusing. Yes for Round 3 and 4 the snake is aireborne above Velden.
I hope you won't leave. I had thought Bishnu and Karn had done their Round 2 actions already. It is hard to keep track of your actions when you don't label the round.
A simple map of the room would be:
Blown
Corner*- Rack -- Rack -- Rack -- Rack -- Jellena
xxxx ---- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx
Rack ---- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx -- Rack
Rack ---- xxxx -- chest-- chest-- xxxx -- Rack
Rack**- xxxx -- chest-- chest-- xxxx -- Rack
Rack ---- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx -- Rack
Rack ---- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx -- Rack
Avizzi -- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx -- xxxx
Karn ---- Rack -- Rack -- stairwayxxxx -- xxxx

Velden is above the chests by about 15 feet. If you want to be elsewhere just let me know.
GM Wolf
Thanks for that Avizzi and I concur with all of your points. I hope everyone can stick around and I normally have maps for different encounters. I had not thought it would be needed for this room.
I hope if someone is confused they will ask questions and be patient enough for answers to be given. I am sorry that I have been away but with work, application process for new work, and life I have become very busy. I hope to get here once a day just like all my other games and normally it happens.
If you stay or go, I thank you all for the game and I hope it will continue with all of you!
Velden Lansell
I don't think people had an issue with 'some things are too powerful for you to fight'. I think the issue was, we don't really have any way to know what is too powerful for us to fight. The only person with the right skill didn't get a warning that 'this thing is very very powerful' or anything, and we had no way of knowing it's too powerful.
I think you were expecting us to ask to use our vizors or something, but we didn't have any.
