DM Omen wrote: Bjorkus finds himself badly wounded from the explosion, but he shakes off the worst of it and charges out of the room, launching himself into the assailant and smashing him into the far wall. Bjorkus feels a rib crack in the man's torso but he can still feel the man's chest rising as the bloody-mouthed killer laughs and mouths some inaudible words, blood dropping onto Bjorkus's forehead. Is this guy freakishly tall?
Yes, you saw the item before it went off.
Dalton Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Toramin Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
Rilka Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Bjorkus Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Ianna Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Rilka saw it very well before it went off, and luckily she's one of the smarter members of the party so later she will be able to piece together what it was with some work and skill checks.
Ah, I did forget the siblings bonus against magic. The DC was 18 so I don't think it makes a difference though.
Eh, I just envisioned Bjorkus tackling him around the midsection.

Ianna's perception bonus is +6
Ah sorry, I took that from the ones I have written in under the campaign tab. I have it fixed there now.
And apparently Rilka's is +10 now. I must have forgotten to update it last time you guys leveled up.
I don't mind homebrew orbs of destruction.
Also, I understand shield probably provides little/no defense against whatever was used. That's just Dalton's IC knee-jerk response seeing as the guy doesn't look like a flight risk with Bjorkus on him.
He'll be more useful (if there's still a use to be had) once his nerves settle.
Just a friendly reminder that Ianna's hat of disguise was destroyed. Not sure what you want to do with that particular problem.

Oh, I thought it was just damaged.
Do any of the gawkers seem to find her presence out of the ordinary?
Yeah even on a successful save it was too much damage.
Nope, none of these ordinary folk seem to notice anything out of the ordinary. But the assailant has seen her, the guard is on their way, there may be some other attention coming...just wanted to remind you that you're in a very undercover operation and as far as you know your cover is still intact.
So is the plan to disguise Ianna, or to let her speak to the guard as herself?
Does anybody else want to do anything before the guard gets here?

Everybody except Toramin should be able to hear now.

Rilka has it on her list. I just don't know if he's got one prepped or a slot for one.
So for right now this is how I'm going to run Toramin trying to communicate while deaf.
If somebody wants to tell something to Toramin, they must make a perform (charades) check. Toramin will make a sense motive check. You will combine these results to reach a DC that will be set by me depending on how difficult the information being conveyed is.
Or you can always take the time to just write it down.

Fosco is a paladin of the Inheritor, right? (How recent of a goddess is she? When did Aroden die in our history?)
Why did he swear by the Polychrome?
Yes, a paladin of Iomedae. She is pretty much the same as she is in Golarion.
Nivi Rhombodazzle is still the only gnomish deity so even as a paladin he likely pays homage to her. Plus it probably means more to the average gnome than Iomedae does.

So she got her start after dragons were a thing.
Nivi Rhombodazzle is an interesting deity. She got her start from Torag. I'm sure there must be a good story why a dwarf god raised a mortal gnome to divinity.

Was there anything special about the inn we've got rooms at now? It wasn't assigned to us by the aestherics or anything right?
Nope, nothing special. It was just a run-of-the-mill (so to speak) inn.

Well Toramin unfortunately is just going to be waiting.
Ianna can go around and make gather info checks to learn who the families are, although it is a bit late to pay them a visit tonight.

The other members of the party. :-) I know whats happening with the dwarves; I'm confused about what the other players should do now that they have paid for their room and have decided to "wait."
I think, perhaps, this is a point where the DM moving forward could help?

As far as I know we've used up all our leads. Ianna's plan was our last ditch effort to get somewhere.
Unless something pops up we're playing it cool to see if Ianna's plan bears fruit or we get use actual useful intelligence from the prisoner.
Ah, I read that exactly opposite.
You could certainly choose to just wait for what Drosil can get. However, you are also certainly not out of leads. Alziver gave you two names that you could investigate.
Also, Friday nights are my nights with my local gamers, and Saturday just so happened to be one of their birthdays so we spent the last day and a half celebrating since we all just happened to be in town.
My posting should get back to the normal rate this week, being in school and all. My Wednesdays will be extremely busy and are likely to only have a small post or two late at night.
Well since I haven't heard anything one way or the other about following up on Alziver's leads, I'm going to assume you simply wait for now. I'll be back down at school in a few hours and if nothing happens, I'll GMPC Ianna making a gather information check and I'll move everything forward.

C'mon. Let's try it.
I have wanted to play a cleric of Yog-Sothoth who is about keeping things from the outside where they belong (out) forever. He is after all the Gate and the Key, sometimes those things get closed/locked.
I'd be down to try it. I do like that kind of setting, but I know a lot of the time the mechanics can fall flat.

I would buy the APs if someone wanted to run it.
Please forgive my lack of posting over the weekend. This is my first circumstance of relying on a smartphone for connectivity during a trip and forgetting a charger.
No fun for anyone!
@the Cthuluverse: I like dark corners in dark places, but I often find heroism from players playing such games overly-illuminates the setting, making it too garish. Some people don't like continually-bleak atmospheres.
Also, go vote. If you find none of the candidates acceptable, feel free to pencil in a platypus. You might as well welcome our monotreme overlords now.

@Toramin, that’s a very generous offer. I can’t commit myself to another game in the near future.
If feeling a little blue due to the current electioneering, I recommend the documentary “The Singing Revolution.” Its focus is Estonia, but similar nonviolent revolutions occurred in Latvia and Lithuania.

The reason why I don't trust Fosco is not that he is bad at this, but he is almost actively unhelpful, trying to drum up problems that just aren't.
*Sips out of skull goblet and smiles*
You have to wonder how paranoid you make the players when they start questioning the motives of a paladin.
