Heh, that'd be a no then.

In Pathfinder, the reasons gnomes often have such intense wanderlust is because they have an affliction that causes them to lose their sanity/die if they don't experience new things often enough.


Uhh, I know they're a very adventurous race but I'm not aware of any actual affliction. I just reread the entire gnome entry too.

It is a closely golarion style world, so such a thing would exist, but it's not a major component or a vital plot point in any way, so it most likely won't be touched upon.

It was the place we suspected was connected to Villichi's gang. It's the last thread that we haven't tugged on.

It's a little annoying that our first "in" to the current arc was so abruptly cut short since we haven't made any meaningful inroads yet. But it probably means that the old boss is bugged or something. Sigh.

Omen the goal is to have house throughly warded by alarm spells courtesy of Dalton, so that we can gather in a central location for the attack. Ianna wants to do a double warding if possible. Something like a Burst of Radiance when they enter and then a glyph linked to a Lantern Archon when they come into the room where we plan to fight. Ianna will link the trigger of these glyphs to someone with an evil alignment.

Also how long have we been on this mission in Grastle Hollow? I think at one point we time jumped 'days' but I don't think that was ever defined.

Nat 20, nice roll! Although in order to damage from an attack in a grapple you need to first establish the grapple, so you can do that next turn. But you definitely grabbed onto him!

Omen, he is using this ability:

Raging Grappler Whenever you succeed at a check to start a grapple, you can choose to deal damage as if you had also succeeded at a check to maintain the grapple. In addition, while raging, whenever you succeed at a combat maneuver check to maintain a grapple, you can choose to give yourself, the target of your grapple, or both the prone condition as a free action while continuing to maintain the grapple.


You did not get the surprise round.

You cannot use an immediate action if you are flat-footed.

Ah, good catch. Yes you will damage him in that case! He is still alive, but I will take that into account when we get Rilka's action and we move into the next round.

I didn't know that about immediate actions.

I'm not super thrilled that he got a free standard action on us without contest. But it does make for a nice story.


Yeah I actually learned that rule very recently because one of my players is a wizard who likes to use "Emergency Force Sphere" to prevent anybody from ever hurting him. Turns out if they get the jump on him he can't cast it.

Yeah, he just got the surprise round on you. I did give you guys an opportunity to respond to the knocking, and unfortunately Ianna assumed it was that gnome waitress and wasn't on guard. The guy would actually have done really well except he got a nat 1 on his reflex and he destroyed the quick runner's shirt he was going to use to run away. Karma at it's finest.

I must be misremembering how surprise rounds work. I thought they had initiative too.

Whatever he used on us, it wasn't a grenade. In pathfinder those take a round to go off. It was pretty impressive.

Surprise rounds do have their own initiatives. But you did not have the chance to act in the surprise round because you weren't aware of your opponent. I could have just had him slip the item through the crack in the door when Ianna began opening it, but then he couldn't have delivered his witty remark!

Yeah no, grenades don't exist yet. At least not in the modern form. This was definitely magical in nature, that much is clear.


Yeah haha, he was going to use a move action to toss the item into the room (which he did) and then use an extra move action from the quick runner's shirt to get the hell out of their. But luck was against him in this case.
