Pathfinders pour through the broken gate into a sanctum teeming with fiends. In two towers that flank the large room, lesser demons furiously work levers and cranks to load ballistae of Abyssal steel and demon sinew to fire wicked bolts upon the charging Pathfinders. Atop a tall platform stands a demon much larger than any other, chanting and weaving dark energies to open what looks like an extradimensional portal.

This room is the command center of Thurl’s demonic army. The 20-foot-tall round platform in the room has the inverted pentagram of Baphomet on it, and the smaller, 5-foot-tall square platform resting on this central platform bears the symbol of Baphomet: a minotaur’s head. Both symbols are painted in blood.

The side platforms are also 20 feet tall, and the ceiling rises to a height of 40 feet.

The largest of the demons is Koth’Vaul’s glabrezu vassal Katazuul, who has called a great number of lesser demons from the Abyss to defend the siege castle. Katazuul bears a glowing symbol on her chest.

Having realized that Absalom’s forces have penetrated the siege tower’s defenses, Katazuul has started a summoning ritual, hoping to bring more glabrezus to the Material Plane to thwart the assault.

You identifies that the portal—if allowed to open fully—would not merely allow more demons to enter; it would also flood a large swath of the Cairnlands with unholy energy that could kill large numbers of Absalom’s defenders.

I think closing that portal is most important. My vote is to disrupt that ritual!

I think this is the most combats in a single day I have seen in a Pathfinder Society mission. I am running low on summon monsters and I have never come close!

Kahwen rushes through the gates alongside his newfound companions. He stops once he has passed through the threshold, his beak hanging open as he looks around at the literal chaos. He has fought a couple dragons as a Pathfinder and considers that one of his great achievements. Facing a demon or devil is another item on his list of things to accomplish. But he feels like he is not properly prepared for this.

His gaze slowly turns to Nigel and stares at him, seemingly uncomprehendingly.

Just as slowly he nods, closing his beak and gulping visibly, the feathers of his neck rippling. "Yes disrupt the ritual."

Oiur's wide-eyed, worried gaze reflects flashes of magic and steel from the chamber's conflict. "Yes. Yes yes yes. We'd better get to it."

They unsling their earth breaker, slam its head into the ground, and place an arm on Kahwen's shoulder. Oiur's touch still seems to resonate with weapon's impact, and arcane vibrations ripple up the tengu's arm. They repeat the actions, this time placing a hand on their own chest. Both Pathfinders now thrum with bolstering energy.

"Forewarned is forearmed. Let's hope it's enough!"

Casting heroism on myself and Kahwen; lasts 40 minutes, +2 morale bonus to attack rolls, saves, and skill checks!
Note that this'll stack with the attack-related rage bonuses, since that's a morale bonus to Str.

Kahwen puts his arm around Oiur in return briefly before they move on. He notices immediately the effects, though he thinks it is only comradely bolstering.

He stands taller and even puffs up somewhat, looking much bigger (almost as big as a human, actually.)

"Let's go get 'em!" he calls out to his companions, sword out and looking for someone to stop the old fashioned way.

I jumped you ahead an encounter. We're at the Gatehouse. I'm so sorry. We'll keep the votes for the next section and move straight in. Oiur you can change your buffing action if you wish.

This gatehouse is teeming with horrid fiends, and a seasoned Venture-Captain orders the Pathfinders to engage the enemy: '“Greenhorns, kill those snipers in the towers! Experienced Pathfinders, kill me some babaus and nabasus! Tough-as-nails veterans, kill that bucket-headed abomination on the stairs!”

Our Pathfinders hear movement to the north, and move that way. There are three enemies waiting for them.

With all his usual caution (very little) and hesitation (almost none) Kahwen surges to the fray. He is careful to stick to the wall, remaining out of reach of his surprised foes before darting back toward one. Attacking this one to the side should, hopefully keep him from being overrun by the other two, especially as his companions move in.

Still, he knows that he might be in a precarious position and is careful to defend himself as much as possible while he strikes.

Mely stumbles and drags herself over the debris, trying not to completely collapse atop the remains of their robot friend. She balances there like a newborn deer, but it gives her a view of the creatures, and she tries to see if she can recognize them. "Snipers... right. Be careful Kahwen... but kick their abyssal butts!"

Oiur and Kennick learn they are two different types of demons.

Mely learns the one in the center is called a Schir Demon, and is evil.

Kahwen moves up and swings at the left most demon. His sword connects and does quite a bit of damage. 19 DMG

The demon in front of Kahwen attacks him with both of it's claws.
Both attacks miss.

The other similar demon moves up and points at Mely. "Stop" he says as he casts a spell.

The surface of Mely's mind is a pool of water, but the demon's command fails to cause the slightest ripple in it. "No, I don't think I shall." She gives the demon a mocking wave and takes a few steps forward, letting herself peer around the corner of the tower entrance so she can catch sight of Kahwen again. "The Duke of Thunder shall guide our attacks, let's clear this flank."

A wand is drawn out of her belt and she holds it up, a blessing of her god suffusing the area.

Mely's magic washes over Oiur, and the confidence thrumming through their body takes on the tenor of rolling thunder. They dash into the chamber, pivot their whole body on their planted left heel, and carry the whirlwind motion through into monstrous slam against the demon's chest.

Sorry guys, but I am going to suck for the next fight or few. This character is not very useful without summon monster and I only have 2 uses left.

Nice going with the first guy. I don't think I have the strength right now to pull more friends in right now... but I can try this. Nigel conjures a ball of acid to throw at the near by demon, though it is unlikely to hit.

Teams of Pathfinders wielding battering rams crash against the inner gates again and again until, with a decisive crack, the doors shatter inward. The Pathfinders can now enter the castle’s inner reaches as waves of reinforcements arrive to help finish off the defenders outside.

I'm assuming the Schir has reach? If not, ignore the acrobatics check.

"Fine work, Friend Oiur! As you said, we should stick together! Let's go help our Companions!" The thrill of battle has clearly overtaken Kahwen and it doesn't hurt that his attitude is being magically boosted by 2 of his fellow pathfinders.

"How dare you attack Friend Eugressia, fiend?!" he calls out as he barrels across the room at the Schir.

As he gets within reach of the creature's weapon, he actually does a barrel roll, leaping into the air and using his momentum and the lift and angles of his very wing like arms to corkscrew through the air before landing in front of him.

Kennick as a swift action empowers his weapon then moves to the remaining demon. But he slips on some of the rubble.

Mely stands firm even as the demon encroaches on the casters and takes a swipe at Eugressia. With a flick of her wrist another wand snaps into her other hand and she activates it. "Keep up with those fancy mind tricks, I'll fix you right up." She reaches out and brushes her hand across Eugressia's injury, sealing up a large portion of the gash.

She takes a hesitant breath and does her best to make her small frame appear larger as she steps up and tries to shield Eugressia and Nigel from the demon's blows. "This is probably a bad idea, kill it fast please."

Swift to use my wrist sheath to draw my CLW wand, standard to activate it and use it on Eugressia, and 5 ft adjust to stand in front of the demon.

"A fine hit Friend Ouir. Just one left!" Kahwen says.

He runs behind the Skald, then the Magus in the group, turning and heading toward the statue before cutting toward the demon. He does not stop when he gets close enough but tumbles into a cartwheel to avoid any incoming attacks before landing behind the demon and attacking before it can adapt to his presence.

A 20 actually hits me, exactly. The number in parenthesis is my AC when fighting defensively.

Kahwen can't maneuver into a position to strike at one of his targets' weak spots. But that doesn't mean he can't do some damage. He steps up to one of the demons and slashes at it.
