0689 rushes to engineering. The ship starts shaking uncontrollably and barely responds to controls!

You can attempt ONLY one of the following to maintain control of your ship! Choose wisely.

Piloting- You can steer the ship—albeit with great difficulty.

OR

Engineering or Melee attack Roll- You can implement a quick fix that momentarily stabilizes the ship

DC 20 Computers:
You quickly realize that there is a an insidious virus infects their landing craft via Starfinder communication channels, easily bypassing firewalls and other defenses. It seems to be interfering with the controls and can write a script on the fly that allows limited access to the hijacked systems.

GM:
Please let me know if the pre-emptive SO computers roll above counted or if you would prefer me to not pre-roll. Some of this stuff is just common sense for the PC (rollong Computers for SO station when scanning, Perception when making an active search, Sense Motive when evaluating an NPC's statement), however, I know some of these things are also scripted/prompted in the scenario. I'm good either way.

"Max, why don't you go with 0689? I'll try to figure out what's wrong with our sensors," Hawthorne calls over his shoulder again.

'I feel dizzy,' Sophia laments.

What? You don't get dizzy--even when I'm spinning through space, the mechanic thinks back at her, concerned.

'I know, right?'

Hawthorne makes use of his overclocked mind to rapidly scan through the sensor routines and associated subroutines, looking for anomolies.

Dice:

Computers: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

"Precursor save us," Hawthorne curses. Suddenly he stops moving and talking, all of his attention focused on the data flowing between his jack and the ship. His monitor suddenly flips to root and a short stream of code begin to spool across the screen. A moment later every sensor station reboots.

He lets out his held breath. "That message carried a virus directly into our systems. It's screwing with our sensors, navigation, and steering. I've written a patch that should at least give some control back to Gunnz."

| The Death of Kortos IV | Fly Free or Die | | Ship Roles |

I'm 100% okay with it in PbP. If it doesn't line up, or I need to interrupt, I just won't count it. I promise to be as fair as possible about it.

| The Death of Kortos IV | Fly Free or Die | | Ship Roles |

0689 frantically does his best, and for a moment all is well.

For a moment.

Then the worst sound you can imagine.... the sounds of the engines going offline!

The ship’s engines stop working altogether, and the ship starts rapidly losing altitud!

Engineering- You can manually activate some of the thrusters to decelerate.

AND/OR

Piloting- You can ride the winds in the planet’s atmosphere, causing the ship to fall at a gentler angle.

The thrusters come online as the ship maintains a collision course with the surface!

Everyone prepares for the worst, but the worst is no more painful than public transit on the Station!

Superior skills and a bit of luck leave the party landing with naught but a little motion sickness.

Everyone looks around to see that the virus failed to stop you. It looks like you're the first Starfinders to set down.

After ‘landing’ the ship, You enter the starship graveyard complex and discover that some of the starships have fused together to form interlinked complexes across the surface of the world. The entire area has low gravity.

Shortly after entering the strangely fused structure you spot a group of Starfinder survivors huddled together. The Starfinders stare at you for a moment and then attack, their mouths opened in silent screams but not producing any sounds.

Any knowledge I can make? Mostly wondering if they are undead (which would probably be mysticism which I do not have). Regardless, I put a life science check below. Also, I didn't note it because I forgot, but Medrick always has his arc pistol set to stun. Since I did not mention it, I understand if you rule that it is set to lethal damage.

Life Science: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

If I think they are living Starfinder Society Members:

Medrick is surprised to see the Starfinders acting hostile. He activates his starfinder symbol From the conformation. Hault, we are members of the society! He waves his glowing palm at them.We wish to help! Medrick also pulls his arc pistol out, just in case they keep coming.

Diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

Swift action to activate my Society Subdermal Graft (if you are unfamiliar, it is listed under special abilities on my character sheet). Move action to draw my weapon. If you rule that my weapon is set to lethal, I will take a move action to set it to non-lethal.

If I think they are undead or any unintelligent creature:

Medrick pulls out his semi-auto pistol and takes aim at the closest enemy It doesn't have a color around him so it is hard to specify who. The Kasatha.

semi-auto pistol (KAC): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
damage (piercing): 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Move action to draw my gun and standard to fire

If what I learn (if anything) falls into a different category than those two options, I will make a new post.

| The Death of Kortos IV | Fly Free or Die | | Ship Roles |

These Starfinders are clearly alive, but there's obviously something very, very wrong with them...

Medrick holds up his symbol, but they don't seem to register it. Instead they advance inexorably. Their mouths opened in silent screams but not producing any sounds, they attack.

Two soldiers move in, but the operative takes stock and levels a zero pistol at Medrick. Trick: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26 ATK: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32. It's a bullseye! The frost burns DMG: 2d6 + 16 + 3d8 ⇒ (2, 5) + 16 + (7, 3, 2) = 35 MAke a FORT Save DC 15 or be staggered for 1 round.

Gunnz gets a little luckier, the recruit takes the bait and the shot hits square in the chest, knocking him down and out. His chest is still moving, albeit barely!

0689 is a bit off target!

[ooc]Haven't seen sign of Xochtl since the blackout. Let's bot for now, and reevaluate after the fight.

Xochtl

Xochtl attempts to subdue the pathfinder with a swift kidney punch.

Gauntlet vs EAC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
damage(so): 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo addresses the Society through communication devices across the Scoured Stars: “Starfinders, thanks to your efforts, we have gathered a large amount of data about the whereabouts of several groups of survivors from the first mission to the Scoured Stars. We have analyzed the data and now know enough to start locating and evacuating our friends and allies. We still need more intelligence on other groups of survivors, however, and we must continue to run reconnaissance missions at the same time.”

Table GM’s- You are now set to start Part 2, but remember Part 1 missions that are still open still need to be accomplished.

First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo pings each of your comm devices. ” Starfinders have recovered a signal beacon from a steamy swamp on Agillae-2. Our analysis of the data indicates there is a large group of survivors on another planet in the same system, and we will soon be ready to commence the evacuation mission.”

Planet of the Dinosaurs location is now closed and Last Outpost is now open.

Starfinders are filled with confidence. All Starfinders receive a +1 Morale bonus to attack rolls, saving throws and skill checks until the end of the current mission.

Awesome! Don't forget we have that Aid Token and need to use it!
I'm going to rule that the Morale boost came before the kidney punch.

Xochtl scores a solid blow that hurts, even through the armor. The affected Starfinders continue to come at you with zero care or survival instinct.

Your comm device tune erupts, breaking the silence once again in quick succession as the dreaded group chats will. ”The results of your explorations are coming in fast. Our agents explored a starship graveyard on Agillae-5, where they found many more of our comrades kept comatose in stasis chambers. Our scientists are studying the strange technology so we can decide how to safely release them.”

Starship Graveyard location is now closed and The Cracked Mirror location is now open.

Medrick's twin shots drop the Starfinder, leaving a singular enemy. Devoid of reason he lets go with one final spell, a shortened Magic Missile. He then closes distance!
