First, let me say that I am nowhere near ready yet. I am just starting work on conversions, but...

Would there be any interest in a mega-campaign that starts with the Temple of Elemental Evil, goes through the Scourge of the Slave Lords quartet, a side trek into Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, then Against the Giants, Descent into the Depths of the Earth, Shrine of the Kuo-Toa, and Vault of the Drow, and ending with Queen of the Demonweb Pits?

It would carry a group from 1st to about 16th or so level and would be firmly ensconced in Greyhawk, where it belongs, but use the Pathfinder rules set. This would be open only to core races and classes. Deities and setting would be all classic (pre-Wars) Greyhawk.

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT CHARACTERS AT THIS TIME! I am only trying to get a feel for how much interest there would be in such an undertaking (as I don't want to do the work if no one is interested).

Please indicate if you would be in for such a journey and your level of familiarity with the adventures listed and with Greyhawk in general. These won't have any bearing on whether you get chosen or whether I do this; I'm just curious.

Cut my teeth as a youngin' on those classics! So yeah, tremendous interest here!

Dude I would love to play this. I played the AD&D 1st edition version as a kid. Many, many, many years ago.

Do not remember much, but had a blast.

You will get a lot of interest. Sign me up and I hope you do this.

I'd be interested. I didn't touch any of that stuff ever so I'm fond of new material. Mostly the only bit I know of Greyhawk is the world was supposedly more deadly than FR or typical DnD

I missed out on all those classic games. I played a homebrew campaign for like 12 years and never got to any published campaigns and adventures, so I know I'd love to get a chance to see if I can make it through all those legendary games. I'll definitely submit.
Though I will admit that of all the settings, Grayhawk is the one I'm least familiar with.

I'd be game. I have a dwarf barbarian that would be good for this game.

Dot!

Yes.

Sovereign Court

I'm currently running exactly this on the boards, and I'd love to play!

In fact, I wrote a campaign document for the March Against Evil that includes new campaign and religion traits and guidelines for making characters for a Pathfinder version of this story arc.

I had the old super modules years ago those had the completed Temple and the collected Slave Lords and Giants-Drow series. They have long slipped into the ether.

Dwarf cleric. Dwarves everywhere!

Yes. Double plus yes.

I am familiar with the general outline of a few of those adventures. Overall I do not have a great deal of experience with Greyhawk. But I'm a quick study. ;)

I'd be interested. Never played any of them but I've heard of some of them. I know next to nothing of Greyhawk.

Interested
I had put up a post about almost the same thing.

Scarab Sages

I love the greyhawk setting I would be so in

Haha I was also considering playing a dwarf, and I already see two others wanting to play dwarves.

It would be interesting if the whole group doing this were dwarves.

Greyhawk was a little before my time, but I hear people talk about it with such reverence.

I'd love to play in a game like this, and with the effort, your putting into converting it, it's clear you have some love for it and that just makes fun and interesting games.

Ok, tell me when you start, but definetly yes.

Dotting for interest. I am aware of all of these but never played in them.

Count me as VERY interested! I'm actually an admin at a play-by-post board 'D20 World of Greyhawk' dedicated to the World of Greyhawk which has been around for 15 years. Our player population is very low though (there's probably about twenty of us left at most), and the board has seen a lot of attrition over the years but several adventures are still plugging along. So everyone there, myself included, are obviously big fans of Greyhawk.

As for the modules, I have a vague recollection of DMing the Temple of Elemental Evil (and I'm currently running Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil on the D20 board), and I know for sure I ran Against the Giants, Descent into the Depths of the Earth, Shrine of the Kuo-Toa, Vault of the Drow and Queen of the Demonweb Pits as a DM when I was in junior high school (about 30 years ago!) I'm currently a player in Against the Giants using the 5e rules, and joined my current 5e group when they were about halfway done with Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. We might wind up doing the whole series, but we might just as easily shift to something else after the Giants adventure is done.

As to Scourge of the Slave Lords, I don't think that's one I've ever played, though I've definitely heard of it and I think I actually have the original module somewhere in my boxes of D&D memorabilia.

Anyway, your mega-campaign sounds like a lot of fun, good luck with it and I'll definitely stop by to apply when it gets going.

An all dwarf party sounds awesome. Definitely up for that.

As for familiarity with the setting, only somewhat but I like the world. Not at all familiar with the adventures .

Dark Archive

Okay, sounds like I have enough interest. Let me get a head start on attempting to balance these things out and I'll start the recruitment. An all-dwarf party is certainly a possibility and would be interesting, but we'll see how it goes.

No real familiarity with the setting is required. I can supply enough info to get things moving for those who aren't familiar, though if you are at all interested in Greyhawk, I heartily recommend checking out World of Greyhawk boxed set (it's first edition, but still very relevant for this campaign). There are also Greyhawk Player's Guide, Greyhawk: The Adventure Begins or Living Greyhawk Gazetteer, but keep in mind that much of these books' information comes from post-Wars, which have not yet happened (and may not happen, but that's probably beyond the scope of this campaign).

There's also the d20 World of Greyhawk but I don't know how much of this acknowledges or references the Greyhawk Wars, so take it with a grain of salt.

If you use Hero Lab, there is a free .user file that adds Greyhawk to your existing Pathfinder dataset. This has new races, deities, and a few other goodies.

As I said, none of this is required to participate in this campaign, but for those who wish to take a look at the setting, these are invaluable!

Glad to hear you got the interest that you need and I'll be on the look out for the recruitment. I've never played anything in Greyhawk so I will be checking out those documents.

Presumably this would be your Book of Grudges.

Very interested. I've played some of those many years ago, and would enjoy revisiting Greyhawk.

Oh yes! a big spiked book! Maybe get Heavy Armor Prof so I can stomp in and smash people with my book. Along with a huge bell and candle.

MEGA DOT!!!! In fact, I can even help you with part of the campaign creation for NPC's stuff like that. GH was my old stomping grounds and almost thoroughly familiar with the game world during a stretch of about 15 years or so. I used to add such details to a particular area when I DM'd a game(s). I might be able to find some of that old material for you to use. Inasmuch, I'm so in!

ELVES ALL THE WAY!!!!

Dot.

Scarab Sages

Pathfinder Lost Omens Subscriber

I'd be interested, especially if you'd consider playing it using AD&D rules.

Plus one halfling rogue and one Aasimar wizard... no, wait.

Keep me posted, definitely.

Scarab Sages

Half elf follower of Mayaheine or halfling paladin of Yondalla!

I was gonna play a Dwarven Barbarian but someone further up beat me to it. So was struggling for an idea. Then it came to me just this morning.

I'm going to play a Dwarven Spiritualist who's haunted by his brothers phantom. Never played a Spiritualist before so this should be interesting. But I'll have to make two alias's though.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

I'd totally be down with this. Ehlonnan Ranger most likely

Silver Crusade

I’d be interested, though I know next to nothing about Greyhawk aside from some of those modules.

I’m thinking of a dwarves warpriest that wears a boulderhelm for his bludgeneoning Weapon.

Remember, GM said Core Races and Classes only in original post. So some of you will have to rethink on what you want to play.

@ That Sean Fellow: Nothing wrong with having two people playing the same race/class. In fact, having two dwarven barbarians flanking an enemy or forming a line of defense is a strong strategy.

Whoops I can do a cleric or fighter/cleric. Still a dwarf.

@WhtKnr: How do you feel about alternative racial traits and non core feats,?

Aw man! So no spiritualist then. Ah that's okay. If that's the case then I'll use that as a PFS character.

Are archetypes allowed?

Well yeah could be cool. I'll either go with Fighter, Ranger or Druid then if it's core only and if someone else goes Barbarian.

Dark Archive

Archetypes will be permitted, and non-core feats and such will be permitted on a case-by-case basis. For the most part, as long as it isn’t third-party or specific to Golarion, I’ll probably permit it. The reason I want core races/classes is because I want an old-school vibe to it.

Ooooh, add another interested party here. I played only the beggining of Elemental Evil once but other than that I'm not very familiar with Greyhawk. It has always seemed very cool to me though. I started pen and paper games during 3.5 but an old school feel sounds fun. I'm kind of an old man at an early age.

I can totally respect that. Will keep that in mind when creating my PC. I'm really amped about this game.

I should add, however, that I do not expect you to adhere to old-school thinking when it comes to race/class combinations; all options are available! Bring on the dwarf wizards and elf barbarians!

Is the time period pre, mid, or post Greyhawk Wars WhtKnt? I am thinking pre considering the modules you named but wanted to double check before I think about what type of submission I would propose.

The thought did occur to me briefly since I grew up on AD&D, but I think that would leave out quite a few folks here because they don't know it or can't remember it. That would be true old-school, though. I have also tried running one using old-school (OSRIC) rules previously, but it failed dismally.

Following the dwarf themed party, and your call for non-traditional combinations, I would like to nominate an empyreal dwarven Sorcerer (wisdom based) that hates elves, Drow in particular, and ready to dish out some old-school butt kickin'.

Pre-Wars, and they may never happen, though that is likely beyond the scope of this campaign.

My first PFS character is a dwarf wizard. She ended up being the tank for the first 4 levels and was awesome.

I always find playing dwarven druids fun.

Banesama wrote:

Dwarven druids are great! Totally stole my idea again!

With that said I've started building a Dwarven Ranger Skirmisher ie a non-spellcasting Ranger.

I played the first of the Slave Lord series. Never got around to the others. I know about the G-D-Q series but never played them. Most of my DMs in those days liked homebrew adventures.

The barbarian I am thinking of is Dunganagar The Mad. An invulnerable rager with a comically low DEX, planned for a vital strike build.
