@Chobo: Arcane Duelist would be the most "fighter-thief" combo themed archetype... Played alongside this type of bard a few times and they are very effective.
Other option if you are looking at tapping into Druidic origins would be Voice Of The Wild archetype - not familiar with it per say, but reading into it looks like it'll tick the boxes you're looking for?
Thanks, I'll take a look at the archetypes.

Here is my submission for this game Trawets Aarock Admixture wizard. I went back to my roots with this. He is the first character I ever created for D&D.

Aotor sunk into a deep depression, but his mind kept working, he realized that he had come to his limits using mundane ways to second guess how his brethren have always done things so he had an epiphany. He decided that he needed to go to one of them there wizarding schools and learn magical ways of keeping them mines operational.
Well away he went and even made validictorian much the distress of many of the elves. When he returned his fellow dwarves thought he was crazy, and maybe he was a bit, but he did learn some real wizarding. But that was all for naught since not only his fellow dwarves unimpressed, they laughed him right out of the mines. So what’s a former dwarves miner wizard to do?
Go adventuring of course!
| Dunganagar the Mad |
I think Dunganagar is basically complete. Since we are not doing background skills I dropped CHA from 10 to 8 and put INT from 10 to 12 to give myself an extra skill rank.
I don't know Greyhawk really, so I will need to change the names of a few things in the background (he was originally made for Kingmaker so there are references to Brevoy in the story).
He hails recently from a human-dominated area that consists of nobles who are constantly engaging in petty feuds. Where would be good for that in Greyhawk?

Furyondy, Verbobonc, or County/Duchy of Urnst (more Dwarves in and around Urnst) are typical nations which could harbor such feuding nobles and are all reasonably close to Hommlet.
The Free Cities of Dyvers and Greyhawk are both trading port cities effectively run by the merchants. Both Free Cities have a great deal of internal turmoil, and they are constantly in a state of open competition with each other, sometimes coming close to open war. They are also both reasonably close to Hommlet.

@WhtKnt: If you like, I can back out from being a PC and play the role of a stationary lord/ruler/noble/guildmaster/general for the campaign. Something like a support person who takes care of things or moves events to a particular path for the adventures. The many number of dwarves need a clan warlord, and the elves need a noble guardian of sorts. In addition, I could make some details out for you just to lighten the load. I've always wanted to do something like this.
Please respond.

Whether you find the Bard Raddosric sitting in the corner of a tavern or as a traveler along the road he usually has a song on his lips, a lute in his hands, and a sword strapped to his back. He features show his strong Oeridian bloodline. Raddosric is tall and well-muscled with a pleasant face covered with slicked back brown hair, worn in a ponytail, with grey eyes that seem to laugh at the world. Raddosric is usually adorned in leather armor and well-worn boots.
Raddosric is a bit of a cad fond of gaming, drinking and carousing. However there is more to him lurking below the surface, he is gregarious, perhaps a bit slow to trust, but good natured and sees everyone as a potential friend. He has a story for every occasion and he believes everyone has a story waiting to be told. He is a fierce defender of his friends but cares little about what others think. It's not that he doesn't care about others but he believes that his well-being takes priority over theirs. He is quick witted and, unfortunately, his mouth is equally as quick as his wit, which has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion.
Raddosric's earliest memories are of music, the tone, pitch, and melody of his mother’s rich and vibrant voice lifted in song. But for him music was much more than a harmonious verse, music was alive, thick sensual, and intoxicating. Music was a mystical force that touched his soul to its very core, a thing of beauty. It wasn’t until he was about eight years old that he realized most people did not understand music in this way. It was true that most people enjoyed music, but they got the same enjoyment from watching a horse race or partaking of a fine meal. No for him music was pure joy and it was like a language that communicated with his very essence. It was this gift that led Raddosric on the path of a bard.
Raddosric was born and raised in the River Quarter of The Free City of Greyhawk by his parents Anguls and Selli. His father, Anguls, was the Captain of the River Boat which traversed up and down the Selintan River. He was known from Wooly Bay to the Nyr Dyv and all ports in-between as a shrewd bargainer and a man of his word. His father as a large man, with an even larger laugh, quiet and contemplative, and always restless on land. Selli his mother was… well she was magical. No matter the circumstances it seemed that she was always smiling, or humming or singing. It seemed as if she was always in a good mood. She possessed a gifted ear for music, writing her own songs as well as playing several different instruments. But most of all she enjoyed life and found joy even in the common drudgery of everyday life.
They were an affluent family and enjoyed the cosmopolitan lifestyle offered by the City known as the Gem of the Flanaess. Raddosric was apprenticed to his father with the goal of eventually taking over his father's vessel. It soon became clear to Raddosric that he was not meant to be a sailor. He was too much of a free spirit and life aboard the ship chaffed at him. Sailors were always scrubbing, hoisting, battening, and belaying. While he would rather be up in the crow’s nest imaging he was a Member of the Circle of Eight as the wind rushed through his hair. At sixteen he left his fathers vessel and took to the road, the only place one can truly learn to be a bard.
The hopeful bard traveled throughout the central Flanaess building his skill under several different mentors. Raddosric was left to their his devices to provide for himself, singing for his supper so to speak, in various taverns that dot the land. Taverns! What alive, colorful, and vibrant places. Taverns were a place to forget about your troubles, a place to share a joke or a smoke, and there was always music to lift your spirits. Raddosric took to the lifestyle of living on the road like a fish to the water, taverns became a home away from home for him. When he wasn’t performing he could usually be found in some tavern with a drink, some cards, or a wench in his hands, or all three at once. He is heading to Homlet to earn some coin and hopefully pick up a new tale or two.
Unbeknownst to Raddosric his father has been taken by slavers since he left home.
Hook: (down the road a little) Unbeknownst to Raddosric his father has been taken by slavers when he sailed to Wooly Bay

Here's the deal. Since the boards have been so wonky of late, I am extending the deadline to this Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:59 pm Central Time. So, if you haven't gotten your submissions in, you have a chance to finish them up.

I would like very much to do the maps in Roll20, if that works for everyone. If not, please speak up and we will find another way if you are chosen.
Question, are you a premium member of roll20 or whatever it's called? I do most of my pbp on mobile. I could do roll20 maps I would just have to wait until I got to my pc before looking at the maps if you aren't. Which isn't that big of a deal.
It's not too complicated Sean Fellow. You just sign up on the site and join WhtKnt's campaign and voila, maps. Unless you're on mobile of course.

Stupid board outages made it impossible for me to follow here...
I was considering a bard with an "old-school" vibe, a combination of social, fighting, and roguish skills with a little druidic faith splashed in, and then saw that Raddosric (Chobo) was basically exactly that character!
I've punted and fallen back on a more generic character, a half-orc fighter. He's not especially flavorful, but that means he makes a great straight man and a solid centerpoint for a party with more interesting characters and their own unique characteristics. He's not especially offensive nor is he particularly charismatic, and he's a pretty good front line.

No, it's Pathfinder. But I have looked at 5E (curiosity got the better of me) and have been thinking about picking up the books. ::sigh:: They seem to be on an old-school revival, and I love the feelings of nostalgia that old-school invokes in me. Thinking of running a 5E campaign for my tabletop group using Tales from the Yawning Portal.
| Dorian 'Grey' |
Having grown up with AD&D, I was torn once 4th came out. I just didnt want to invest learning another system. Pathfinder was easy, as it just pick up where 3.5 left off. I always thought it a mistake by Wizards allowing it to get that far. I am happy with PF. As with every game, it's not perfect, but it has given me many joyous adventures. I have gamed with many folks over the years, including on these boards. I appreciate these opportunities.
Just my 2cp.

I recommend it as well. Very enjoyable to run and play!
