I calc the mundane gear at 558.5 gp. Not selling the +1 shortsword; Ali does not need it, so someone else should grab it. We have plenty, and to spare, for a CLW wand--if we can find one for sale!
Oh--and over the intervening days, how about the contents of that spellbook??
Kappi thinks that buying a curative wand would be a good use of party treasure.
He also thinks that SOMEONE in the party should keep the magical short sword. (its fracking magical for Bucho's sake). If nobody has any use for it, it might make a good weapon for a stealthy rogue. (If someone will give him some lessons with it).If Kappi ends up with the short sword he will give up the magic cloak for someone else to have.

Contents of the spellbook are in this post. If you and/or Davosh can't Take 10 and make the Spellcraft checks, go ahead and roll them here.

Vojtek Wartooth |

"Lad, that is a beautiful weapon!" Vojtek grips the hilt and crouches down into a fighting stance. With a couple short stabs and grunts, the wiry man shuffles forward constantly. With s devastating overhead stab, followed by a clipped but powerful slash across ghe midsection designed to disembowel, Vojtek fells the imaginary foe.
"Try to do as I have done. Just as my Grandfather showed me on the tundra by the edge of the ice, your friend will show you."

Davosh the Wanderer |

I can take 10. There is only one spell that is of use to me.
"Kappi, your logic is sound. I'd gladly take the cloak if it meant you having a magic weapon on hand."

The lad removes the Cloak of the Yeti and gives it to Davosh. He shivers for a moment as he slips on another layer to replace the cloak's warmth. Thats a good cloak. I wasnt cold at all the whole time I was wearing it.

Kappi did his best to imitate the barbarian's movements with the blade. He tried to keep it simple and concentrating on learning the stabs and thrusts. After a few minutes he thought there might be something to sword. Though some what plain, it was beautiful and elegant in its simplicity.

Davosh the Wanderer |

"Let us return to the lodge and begin the search there. Aside from a curative wand, is there anything else people want? I wouldn't mind a stop at the wise woman. She seemed helpful."

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

How much of that gear was returned to the lady? Sorry if I'm dense, just trying to get ahead of the game so that I don't fall further behind. I'm not used to being a player in a non-PFS game. :-)
My total includes giving all the lady's jewelry back, and only keeping the looted weapons/armor. some of it was MW, that's why the total was high. Check out my "and Treasure!" spoiler for details.
.DMTS--can we sell the loot, and pick up a wand of CLW, in this little settlement? Or is that too much for the local economy?
.
On the book--sorry about that, forgot you already told us!!
Ali takes a few (3) hours to study the captured spellbook, and try to understand what spells she can...
Spellcraft for Exp. Retreat: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 <--success
Spellcraft for Chill Touch: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 <--success
She then takes another couple hours to copy 2 spells into her tome. Then she hands it to Davosh. Here, you want your turn?
Also, once we're done with the book, I calculate its sale value at 75 gp: scribing 6 1st level spells would be 60 gp; 1 2nd would be 40; and access to a wizard's spells to copy them would be half that total of 100, for an additional 50 for a grand total of 150. Sale price is half that, or 75. So, TS, can we sell our loot, including the spellbook here? And an we get a CLW wand?

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Seems to me like it would work fine...but would like a ruling at your leisure

GM thunderspirit |

Heldren's purchase limit would allow a wand of cure light wounds. However, there is not one ready made for purchase, so you'll have to commission one.
The most likely candidates are Old Mother Theodora and Elder Natharen Safender, who runs the temple of Erastil in town. (Tessarea Willowbark is an Alchemist.)
You can easily sell anything that's 100 gp or less. Anything pricier than that will take some work on your part.

Vojtek Wartooth |

Vojtek asks the first person he sees on the street if they might direct him to someone who could sell him a wand to cure less-than-grievous wounds. The small child looks up at Vojtek in wonderment tinged with a bit of fear and awe and silently points to what Vojtek recognizes as Old Mother Theodora's home.
He strides up to it purposefully and when she answers he politely greets her as a warrior should greet an elder.
Formalities dispensed with, he asks her for a wand with which he might cure light wounds. He offers to pay her for her troubles.

Kappi Matarito |

Not too sure what else be doing, Kappi tags along with the wiry barbarian. The varisian lad full well knows that Vojtek does not have the best people skills. However, Kappi isnt really any better with words and decides to just hold his tongue for now.
After all he remembered what his Uncle often told him. "A man rarely makes a fool of himself by keeping his mouth shut."

Vojtek Wartooth |

As Old Mother Theodora putters in the back, Vojtek turns to Kappi and asks, Why so quiet? I value your input young Kappi. You are smart and good in a fight. What do you think about the Lady we rescued?

The boy looks awkward for a moment as if caught off guard. He is truly appreciate of the praise from Vojtek. It feels good to be treated like an adult. He takes a second to gather his words.
He first shrugs his shoulders as if he is not completely sure. I have never liked the high falut'n upper class much. They have often looked down on my people. The lad takes off and re-wraps his head scarf as he pauses to collect the words for his next sentence. Im glad she truly seemed to show sorrow at her servants who died trying to protect her. The guard Yuln, suffered much at her expense. Im glad to hear she will be taking care of him.Kappi pauses again. I think she is a good high lady.

so the only things we'd have a prob with are one masterwork longsword, and the gem--if it's over 100 (we got a 75-150 range if memory serves)...what kind of "work?"

Davosh the Wanderer |

"Worry not Kappi, the Mother shan't treat us like she's talking down to us. A wand is a single day's dedicated work. Let us see if she'll take the gem, the Lady's reward-purse, and coins we've made in profit. A single day is well worth it."

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Or better yet, maybe the nice sword. Might take us some time to find a buyer, but she lives here and has a lot more time to find one!

GM thunderspirit |

Old Mother Theodora stares at Vojtek's request, then her gaze shifts to Kappi, then actually seems to warm a bit when Davosh, Ali, and Edward appear nearby the door. I can perhaps produce this magic for you, northerner. But I do have other pressing matters and it will take me some time. She is silent a moment, then turns her piercing eyes to the rogue. You have an ice diamond. I shall accept it as down payment for your inquiry. You will need more seven times the gem's value for this wand, however.
She turns to Davosh. I think we have things to discuss as well, warlock, when the job is done.

Davosh the Wanderer |

The warlock looks at his new battle-friends, "Let us do this. Mother Theodora, let us chat..."

Well I had some stuff to say, but the time has past.. I yadda yadda with the Lady and everyone else. I'm also good with buying the curative wand. After a bit of contemplation, he adds in the poisons for sale to help gather the cost of the wand.
So I'm not sure what we have or not. I'm going with the assumption that Edward has the MW Cold Iron Longsword, and I will assume the wand will be in Edwards posession. What will be my share of any funds if any are left over

I keep an as-up-to-date-as-am-able copy of what we have in my profile under "and Treasure!" both unsplit, and "group pot" if we decide to keep one. I had not included the poisons, as I though Ed had destroyed them...but I'll add 'em back in. I don't have a split yet, as I don't know whether we can use the +100 gp items to trade for the wand, or if we have to try to sell them. Rough estimate is a little less than 100 gp a head, after purchase of the CLW wand, but i'll try to get an exact number for ya after the DM answers this:
.can we use the MW longsword we found as part of the payment for the wand, as trade? (plus the delta coin, of course)

GM thunderspirit |

Old Mother Theodora shows no interest in the MW longsword. You'll need to find another way of paying her.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

GMTS: from page 18, it seems we missed some details of treasure found. There's still a "thin tube" and 3 potion bottles we don't know what the are.
1) whta is the nature of the thin tube?
2) are the bottles just bottles, or are they acutally potions??
If the latter...
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Davosh the Wanderer |

We pay for the wand with the gem and the reward.
Oh man, I just realized something since it's not PFS. Is she making an arcane or divine wand? If it's arcane, then Davosh ought to hold it. Not only would he be the only one to cast it reliably, Liska will soon be able to deliver the spell.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Assuming:
1) we don't sell the MW longsword we found (yet)
2) we don't sell the +1 shortsword, cloak, alch fire or potions
3) we sell everything else
4) the gem was a 100 gp down payment for the wand, and we spend 650 on the delta we owe
5) we don't begin a group pot
the treasure split will be 94 gp each.

Vojtek Wartooth |

DM TS - I know we checked before, but what about the possibility of sourcing a cold iron greatsword in town? It is a 100 gp item, so it should be well within the purchase limit for the town. I would sell this one and buy a cold iron version if possible.
Grandmother, when we were here before, I tried to find a blade like this made from cold iron. Vojtek taps the hilt of his Greatsword twice.
We couldn't find anyone selling one. Do you think I can find one in town now?

GM thunderspirit |

Oh, yeah. LOL
The thin tube contains a scroll of animate dead, lesser. The potions are...
3 oils of magic weapon
Since Old Mother Theodora is an Adept, it's divine.
Theodora directs Vojtek to the town smith, Isker Euphram, for something fashioned of cold iron.

Davosh the Wanderer |

....oh man. Edward will NEVER let me use that scroll. Maybe as a counterspell...

Well someone to sell the longsword to.
Vojtek that would be good, for an extra 300 we can get you a MW one. To bad he isn't in this campaign, but Sandor could make it for you in a day :P

Agreed

Vojtek Wartooth |

MW would be great - But unless we pool money there is no way he can afford it. I don't think the benefit is worth almost all of everyone's money, even if people were willing to fund it.
I figure Vojtek sells his regular great sword, gets $25. Selling the MW Longsword would yield $157.50. If Vojtek applies his $25 and $75 from the longsword, everyone but him would get an extra $20.62 -> 94+20.62 = 104 gp, 6 sp, 1 cp. Do you guys mind if I apply the MW Longsword to the Cold Iron Greatsword?

![]() |

I don't mind at all, but how long are we going to hang around here to wait for it. Not sure how long it will take him to make one if you commission it.
But haggling over price of goods and shopping for stuff is one of my least favorite things in the game. The whole yes it's in town or it's not in town is just frustrating bs imo. Having to walk out the door of one vendor and go next door and RP buying a nice tankard makes me shoot dagger eyes at the GM, tell him I don't give a fn crap who sells it here's my list is it avail or not. Having to do it in PbP and wait for a GM response is well.. I hope you get my point.
Yes I get the "realistic" interp that cities will have more goods than towns.. but to be honest, if I feel something is good and that I need for my character I will travel to that city to buy it throwing the whole adventure on hold for that to happen, then that causes a gm to try to railroad you back to a course, or rewrite stuff. If your in a town it's like a safe zone in a video game... buy your stuff hit your bed so you can save this spot, and start up again. I would prefer that the GM would say I'm not going to let you have it because of xyz reason than have me problem solve how to get it, and then not get it.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

I'm with you, particularly in PbP. Too cumbersome.
Mister Barb, I'm fine with that. My 20 gp would be better spent on YOU in this regard.
(3) Magic Weapon oils should go to Vojtek and Kappi. The other three of us don't really need it (maybe Ed--feel free to make your case either way)

GM thunderspirit |

Point taken.
The only cold iron indicated at the smithy in the AP is a set of 10 +1 cold iron sling bullets. I don't know how realistic it would be to have them reforged as something else, so it's that or nothing.

I would be willing to re-write the AP to have it be cool for Vojtek the guardsman had a greatsword, and I could use the MW Longsword that was found.... or just give me a regular sword that I started with... I mean it's not Society which seems pretty ridged in you "must do it as written" sillyness

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

part of the AP's "theme" could well be resource management. I know that was VERY heavy in Serpent's Skull...while I'm much more willing to gloss over some of the bartering/exchange/selling, I'm much more understanding of things like "it's just not available here" that are written in, savvy?
Ali looks around the "smithy" (such as it is) for cold iron arrows, and is disapponted at how few fey-battling items there are.
Maybe we'll have to find a larger settlement somewhere, to better equip ourselves.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Yeah, I get the points above, but there is one thing I disdain even more, and that's ALWAYS finding exactly what you're looking for. I like the discovery.
Okay, so we give her the gem, the purse, and that leaves 150 Gp total? That's a donation of 30 Gp each. I'll gladly give 30 for that. Does anyone object to me taking the scroll and case?

Vojtek Wartooth |

Not I sir. I wouldn't even know what to do with it.
Vojtek wonders silently if there might be further adventures in store for the new companions he has taken up with.
Did I forget if there is an adventure hook? Is there something we are supposed to be doing or somewhere we are supposed to go?
EDIT Oh yeah, lets get that map and look for Teb Knotten.
Davosh, let's have a look at that map and see what guesses we can make about Teb Knotten's location.

Davosh the Wanderer |

We need to go back to the lodge and follow the trail left there. We came back only to deliver the Lady and restock our supplies.
"Mother, might you have a potion of light curative power I could purchase?"

GM thunderspirit |

Potions of any sort are best acquired at the Willowbark Apothecary, child. Old Mother Theodora almost sounds warm as she says this.
For simplicity's sake, we'll say Tessarea has five CLW potions available for sale. Standard price of 50 gp each. She also has one CMW potion available for 300.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Yeah, I get the points above, but there is one thing I disdain even more, and that's ALWAYS finding exactly what you're looking for. I like the discovery.

2) we don't sell the +1 shortsword, cloak, alch fire or potions
3) we sell everything else

Davosh the Wanderer |

"Willowbark Apothecary sounds like my kind of place. Does anyone object to me taking 2 Alchemist Fires? I'm not good in a fight, but I'm not too bad with my throwing aim. I say that Kappi and Vojtek should each take an oil of Magic Weapon. The third should go to either Edward or Ali."
I'll buy a potion of CLW at Willowbark. The author knows a bit of science. Willbark is the core ingredient in aspirin.

Vojtek Wartooth |

Vojtek nods sagely. He barely followed that, but Davosh speaks with the ancestors so he has Vojtek's support.

GM thunderspirit |

The author is Neil Spicer, of whom I'm admittedly a fanboy; if Neil's name is on it, it's a pretty good bet I'mma buy it. LOL
Isker Euphram seems apologetic for his lack of cold iron available. Sorry bout that, folks ain't had much call for cold iron 'round 'ere. Now I s'pose they might, if whatcher sayin's true. Hafta see if I can gets me some ingots then.
He rubs his shaggy head for a moment, then continues. Tell ya wot, I been thinkin' o' sendin' up to Zimar for some supplies. I can see if my baby girl Xan can find some ore, mebbe some blades, while she's up there.

Kappi Matarito |

At the WillowBark Apothacary Kappi buys one of the CLWs potions. He somewhat reluctantly hands over the fifty gold. He had never made such a fortune only to spend more then half of iton such a little thing. Yet such a little thing (CLWs vial) could save a life.
It was a sobering thought to think that he would have died several times over with out healing magic from Edward and Davosh.
Other then the potion, Kappi offers to go food supplies for the party.
Can we assume the CLWs wand will be ready the next day and we can set out from the town?

Vojtek Wartooth |

Sir, there is danger about, and a baby girl would be defenseless. You shouldn't send a baby girl alone. Can she walk? Is she weaned from the teat? This is madness! Vojtek starts getting flustered and angry at the prospect of an infant or toddler dragging a bag of cold iron across the wilderness. Hey he has an INT of 7, gimme a break
Davosh, look at your map, is Zimar anywhere near our goal? Maybe we can escort Xan on the path. and get discounts :D
Is there a picture of the map we found somewhere?

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Davosh, look at your map, is Zimar anywhere near our goal? Maybe we can escort Xan on the path. and get discounts :D
If Xan has a friend/sibling/pet named Jena, I'm going to stab them both
