GM thunderspirit |

I'll get the next scene rolling sometime today/tonight. For realz this time, LOL.

GM thunderspirit |

Your party sends Stava on his way after relieving him of everything save his armor, his weapons, and his warm clothing.
After climbing at least a hundred feet into the hills, the snowy trail finally levels off. In a clearing among the trees, a large wooden lodge overlooks a ravine spanned by a long rope bridge. Smoke rises from the lodge's two snow-covered chimneys, and large woodpile is stacked against the outer wall.
A small outbuilding stands east of the lodge, and a stone well nearly blanketed by snow is barely recognizable to the north. Several tracks lead southwest toward a detached stable.

Before we broke camp:.........
CLW on Edward: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
___________________________________________________________________________ ___
Well if past events hold true the whole picture isn't as it seems.
Easy friend Vojtek slow down just a bit. Now they've trapped the path once before, and this seems like a good time to do so again, so lets take a good look before we go any further. Kappi will you do the honors? Also keep an eye out for sentries
perception: 1d20 ⇒ 12<~~assist on Kappi, or well whomever does the check

Kappi Matarito |

Kappi was just about to start walking across the bridge but he suddenly jumps back when reminded about traps from Edward. The young lad smacks himself on the head and the others can hear him say, "...so stupid!... idiot!... "
Kappi gets his game face on and starts checking the approach to the bridge for traps. Before checking the bridge itself Kappi ropes up and has Vojtek anchor the other end. He also asks for Ali to cover with her bow.
Roped up the young Varisian checks the bridge for traps as well.
Perception/trapfinding 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 = 20
Disable Device 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 1 = 29

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

He also asks for Ali to cover with her bow.
With pleasure. Ali nocks an arrow and partially draws, keeping a keen eye out for the area under the bridge and across the water.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi's sharp eyes spot a trip line buried in the snow on your side of the bridge. The line runs alongside the underneath of the bridge and off toward the lodge. Kappi is fairly certain this was designed to be a trap and a warning signal.

Davosh the Wanderer |

"Nice eyes my friend. That bridge looks scary enough. Well the water underneath looks scary. I don't enjoy the mental image of landing on a sharp rock and having my life-blood spilled into a raging river only to have my tomb be the icy banks of a river as well as my epitaph be my crystalline blood stretched over a few fathoms. Can you disarm the alarm-trap? Then we'll make our way slowly and carefully over the bridge."

GM thunderspirit |

Forgot to mention that Kappi's Disable check rendered the trap inert.

GM thunderspirit |

CORRECTION:
(cos your GM is an idiot)
You are on the OTHER side, not the river side. Cos you cross the river to get to the rest of the Border Wood.
Tripwire trap was found and disabled.
You are where you see on the map now.
Take 2! < clapboard >

Kappi Matarito |

The young thief's senses are sharp ready for danger. He quickly flits over to the outhouse to make sure nobody is in there.
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Stealth 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

GM thunderspirit |

The door to this small outhouse is frozen shut. A small hammer hangs by a rope from its upper eaves to chip away the ice and provide access. You can tell that the weather has made the outhouse much less functional and you don't need your Perception check to recognize evidence that its recent use is somewhat overpowering to the senses.

![]() |

Well could go up, bar the door on this side shut, then circle around and enter in with speed and surprise, offering them terms of surrender. Then search for our missing noble lady after they accept to the terms, or after a scuffle if they refuse.

Davosh the Wanderer |

"Hmmmm That's a lot of us sneaking. Kappi, you can do this. Sneak around and block the other door. We'll go in through this one. I'm not sure how stealthy we as a group will be. I'll cast a minor spell on you to aid you in your task. We can offer terms of surrender, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm eager to get inside. If she's in there we'll have pecuniary reward certainly... but also a warm place to sleep. I'm thinking that a serious night of rest will really help me with my concentration."

Kappi Matarito |

Kappi nods in response to Edward and Davosh. Hefting his new favorite ax he slips off quiet as a kender (or whatever...). Creeping around to the farside he looks around for something to bar/block the door with.
Stealth 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Disable Device (door) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

GM thunderspirit |

Okay, help me understand the plan a little better. Anyone?

Davosh the Wanderer |

1. We're going to stay where we are.
2. Kappi is going to sneak around the building (Stealth 20)
3. He's going to spike the doors (Disable Device: Sabotage door).
4. Kappi sneaks back to us (new stealth roll 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20)
5. Once Kappi is back, I'll cast Mage Armor.
6. Vojtek opens the door in the fashion of his people.
7. The enemy cowers under our might.

GM thunderspirit |

Okay, so it's the door facing the river Kappi is attempting to Disable. Got it now.
Kappi notes several windows on both floors of the Lodge. He opts to stay in the timberline to the north as long as possible whole he searches for another door. At the end of the timber copse, he dashes over to the side of the building, noting windows on either side of the chimney. He ducks below them as he creeps around the building.
He finds a shed of some sort with a small door, slightly ajar, around the corner. Within, a small amalgam of shovels, axes, and hammers hang on the walls. It doesn't appear attached to the main building, so it's probably not what he's after.
Then, another window, damn! He ducks low again upon seeing a flash of movement inside the building through the window, then ah! A larger porch.
The shed provides a couple of sturdy shovels with which to brace the door, and Kappi is pleased with himself at the job.
return Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
His retun trip is uneventful.

Davosh the Wanderer |

When Kappi returns I will cast Mage Armor on myself. Liska continues to dart in and out of the warlock's feet.
Ancestors guide us I cast Guidance on each of us. "Vojtek, lead us forward. I'm right behind you."
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Kappi Matarito |

The young rogue is clearly excited. His face looks calm yet he bounces on the balls of his feet. He chooses a javlin from his brace of spears, then puts it back thinking a tomahawk might be better for the in close fighting. Hefting the ax he is ready.

Vojtek Wartooth |

On the nod from the others Vojtek kicks in the door and runs in with his Greatsword drawn.

GM thunderspirit |

Okay, two things:
- PCs each need a Stealth check to make it to the double doors without being seen. You should assume the approach is being watched via the windows. By rolling it yourself, you can also include any abilities or items you might want to use (smokesticks, vanish spell, whatever).
- For this, I need you guys (or a designee, don't care which) to move you on the map so that I know
in what order I should kill youwhere everyone is.
Once that's done, we'll roll initiative and commence the beatdown. < evil grin >

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh already included his stealth check (16), I moved Vojtek and Kappi, followed by Davosh.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 2 <--well, that's a fine kettle of fish
I'M SNEAKING!!
Cast Shield as soon as Vojtek winds up to kick in the door.

Kappi Matarito |

Its well past the 24 hour mark. Somebody move Edward closer in on the map next to Davosh or something reasonable. Is Joe gone or something? He is usually on top of this stuff.
Edward's stealth roll 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

GM thunderspirit |

Vojtek's Stealth check is irrelevant with Ali's TWO!
Ali casts shield as Vojtek confidently strides up to the door and gives it a vicious kick.
Vojtek STR vs. DC 15: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
As the door crashes in, the party hears the telltale sound of shortbows twang and shouts of alarm.
Initiative!
Ali: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Davosh: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Edward: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Kappi: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Vojtek: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Rokhar's raiders: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

GM thunderspirit |

Three arrows sink into the barbarian as soon as he knocks in the door!
The person at the rear of the room shouts upstairs, while the one near the south door shouts toward it. Alarm! We're under attack! To arms! To arms!
Party up!

Davosh the Wanderer |

Evil Eye! Davosh's teeth grind as he stares at the thug to the South West. His colorful eye eidens as he looks into the man's fate...deeming him unworthy. -2 to attacks. Will DC 15 to reduce duration from 8 rounds to 1.

Kappi Matarito |

Round 1 posting for Edward the Oracle
Quick off the draw Edward shoulders his crossbow and targets the closer enemy on the south side of the door. Edward gently strokes the trigger like it was a woman.
Crossbow 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Bolt 1d8 ⇒ 6

Kappi Matarito |

Round 1 (now actually posting for Kappi)
Kappi bites his lip a little to suppress a cry at seeing his comrade turned into a pin cushion. The young rouge grits his teeth as he sees the close enemy on the north side inside the doorway. He hefts his weapon and throws, eager to get some vengence for Voytek.
Throwing attack 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 22
mwk tomahawk 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

ROUND 1
I know I'm posting out of turn, but I'm assuming Vojtek is going after the closer combatant. Ali is engaging the other. If Vojtek goes after the farther one, Ali will engage the closer.
Current Conditions: Shield spell: AC 20, immune to Magic MIssiles
Ali is a little worried about all the arrows protruding from her barbarous friend. She runs into the building with her own version of a primal scream, hoping to draw some of the missile fire from the wounded warrior--and trusting her magic to stop those arrows aimed her way.
She uses her arcane abilities to enhance her blade, and strikes at the archer in the corner.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 <--OH COME ON!!! Have I even made a hit yet this campaign?!?!
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

GM thunderspirit |

Edward launches a bolt, but it cannot find its way through to strike the raider. Cover
Kappi lets fly with a throwing axe, which finds its mark much better through the sea of people. It lodges in the man's skull and he crumples to the floor.
Will DC 15: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
The raider targeted by Davosh cringes as the hex takes effect!
Ali's action is ready for after Vojtek goes.

RAGING VOJTEK!!!! |

Round the First
Vojtek attacks the enemy on the south side of the door in a blind rage.
Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 - 1 = 13 for 2d6 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5) + 9 + 2 = 19 damage.

GM thunderspirit |

13, unfortunately for them, is your magic number to hit. Vojtek strikes and finishes the raider near the door.
Ali strides forward but cannot hit the raider Davosh Evil Eye'd.
The same raider drops his bow and draws a short sword, striking out at Ali!
attack!: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 2 = 13
dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Meanwhile, the door to south opens to reveal four more raiders, though these four look less vigorous than their fellows in the main room. One steps out and hacks at Vojtek!
attack!: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 2 = 7
dmg: 1d6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 1 - 2 = 0
Two more arrows sail at the raging Northman, one from the woman on the far side of the table...

attack!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 2
From the second floor, the party can hear a ruckus!
Party up!

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh moves in behind Vojetek. Over his shoulder the Evil Eye continues to flash and flare. This time he aims it at the thug to the north Will DC 15 to reduce duration to 1 round. Affecting his attack rolls.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

ROUND 2
Again, out of order, but I think this would happen no matter what...
Ali shifts over to clearly engage the raider near the table. She makes a swing...
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 <--oh for the F*(%&#ing love of god...

Sandor Stouthammer |

on phone hard to post until late tonight. Can't see map, and I don't know anyone's current HP. But it sounds like Vojtek needs healing. If so life link and he will get back 5 hp. Maintain link for at least another round and cast CLW on myself. If he isn't that hurt shoot someone in the face

Kappi Matarito |

Round 2 Action
With everyone shooting at Vojtek, and the other comrades rushing into the room shooting crazy eyes and swing blades. Kappi will attempt to slip into the room unnoticed in the melee to set up for a flank or sneak attack next round.
Stealth 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
someone please move Kappi along the north wall inside the room

GM thunderspirit |

Edward life-links the barbarian. (Not Dying is a Good Thing [tm].)
Kappi moves into the room with less grace than usual, but with the commotion, no one appears to pay much attention to him.
Davosh eyes another raider evilly!
DC 15 Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
With success!
Ali slices the air, but not much else.
Vojtek!

RAGING VOJTEK!!!! |

Blood pounding in his ears, Vojtek ushers past Ali in a most ungentlemanly manner. He sidesteps the enemy by vaulting the table and spins into position behind him. With a feral snarl he hacks at the man's exposed back before he can react to the madly scrambling barbarian.
Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 7 - 1 + 2 = 21 for 2d6 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (4, 6) + 9 + 2 = 21 damage.

GM thunderspirit |

The Evilly eyed raider next to Ali takes a (half-hearted) AoO on the blur that is Vojtek racing past.
AoO: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 2 = 7
dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
He misses.
Vojtek does not. He cleaves the raider in two.
Two other raiders who have bows in hand. How's that for being a bad GM? LOL
Bursting from one door is a half-orc female, who does not appear enthusiastic about joining the fight.
The two north raiders both move to the other side of the great room and fire on Vojtek!
fire!: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 - 2 = 6
dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 5
fire!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
atk on Ali: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 - 2 = 3
dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
atk on Davosh: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 2 = 2
dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
atk on Davosh: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 2 = 15
dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
See, Ali? It's not just you! ;-)
Party up!

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

I'm a bit unclear of who is where...correct me if I'm mistaken, but it looks as if there are two bad guys up the stairs, two more at ground level between Ali and Davosh, and yet three more at the other end of the room--the half orc and two others. Is this all correct?
ROUND 3
Ali takes some confidence when one of the arrows fired at her looks like it's going to hit, but stops dead in the air above her chest, its flight broken cold by her magic. She smirks, winks at the archer, then turns and attempts to eviscerate the raider next to her.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 pppffffffhahahahaha <--that's a total of 7 rolled on 3d20 I've got some good rolls coming, hopefully during a really important fight
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
