"Nice bro. What kind of gym does that?" Kaz asks seeing the literal rock-hard abs on Marduk.

"Y...y...yes. We have quarters in the western part of the mine. There are stairs that lead down to our area." The gnome says, his eyes growing as large as saucers as MArduk increases in size.

Mega-Marduk only grunts in reply and heads toward the center of the mine.

Onward!

"Head upstairs. There's a ratfolk up there, stay together. Strength in numbers. That sort of thing. We'll handle the big bad." Shahorn hefts his blade as he stretches and follows Marduk, his wolf close behind.

The gnome shakes his head and runs off.

Moving north, you soon see what can only be the crusher. This thirty-foot-wide steel drum is five feet tall. A churning mill inside crushes ore into smaller and smaller pieces, which are then deposited onto a conveyor that runs eastward. Steel grating runs around the perimeter of the crusher, revealing a hollowed-out chamber beneath the mill. A conveyor to the north feeds the crusher, and on the west side of the drum, machinery has been designed to lift and tilt mine carts of ore into the crusher. A large ettin and six mutant ogres work in the chamber. One of the ogres looks up, sees the party, and yells something!

Shahorn jumps onto the back of Shadowpaw, and darts forward. The big canine just manages to catch the ogre, biting it and pulling it donw ot the ground!

The big ettin moves up and readies himself for a squabble!

Davo starts lecturing on giant weaknesses while casting haste upon the party.

Marduk gathers his fury and concentrates it before flinging an empowered fiery bead into the rear of the room. It explodes engulfing three of the ogres in flames.

I believe I can catch three at the rear of the room.

Cookie runs towards the ettin and Kaz quickly mounts up. Cookie takes a bite out of the two-headed giant while the half-elf takes a stab.

Davo moves up and hastens the party's movements, then begins lecturing on the intricacies of mutant ettins! Assuming the ettin.

Marduk casts a spell, exploding a fireball on the back three ogres! All three take the full effect of the blast!

Kaz and Cookie move up and strike the ettin! It seems to resist some of the damage, and Cookie's attack seems to do no damage! Did not confirm. The ettin seems shaken by the ferocity of the strike!

Lady Lumikello moves up, and the ettin, who seemed to be readying something, breathes acid on the party!

Lady Lumikello then casts a spell, sending a line of acid across the ettin, and two ogres. One of the ogres seems to resist the spell! Neither the ettin, nor the ogre manage to avoid the spray. The ogre falls to the ground, a smoldering, burning mess!

The prone ogre stands (provoking), flying into a rage and swings a Shahorn.

Forgot the scid damage to Shahorn and Shadowpaw for hitting the ogre: 1d6 ⇒ 3 DC 18 Ref to negate

You believe this mutant version would be resistant to all, but cold iron weapons and also resistant to spells, as well being immune to disease and poison. You also think this thing has a breath weapon and can work itself into a rage

Davo casts greater invisibility on himself and runs into the fray.

Heroism, +2. Naturalist, I don't think there's one, unless it counts as a natural attack. Haste, +1. In any event, Shadowpaw still gets hit since he'd need an additional +1 even if Naturalist boosted it by 3. *shrug* It's 3 pts.

And it's this point that I realize that I missed being caught in the acid spray. For some reason, thought it was just the acid splash from the ogre being squirty. Okay, rolls for those.

Sorry, I should have written "Extraordinary" not "Natural" attacks. Acid pustles would be Ex. It's not the damage; it's the principle of the thing :)

Now if only it coulda saved Shadowpaw the damage from the spray, hahaha. Bad dice!

Marduk hurls another ball of flames into the ogres at the rear.

Shahorn and Shadowpaw make the ogre pay for standing, then Shadowpaw attacks again, bringing donw the ogre with its seconds bite!

The ettin's skin continues to crack and blister form Lumikello's cold, as she steps over and fires another ray.

Shahorn urges the remaining ogre to stay down. "Don't bother getting up. ...Umm, does anyone understand what this thing says?"

Thundering forward on magically hastened tree-trunk legs, Marduk cleaves into the last ogre.

The ettin carried a potion of cure serious wounds, +1 breastplate, +2 club, +2 shortspear, amulet of natural armor +1, and 299 gp.

Each of the six ogres carried fuse grenades (2), mwk scale mail, mwk club, [i]amulet of bullet protection +2, 8 emeralds worth 100 gp each, and 200 gp.

"But I can't talk to the dead though!"

Davo absconds with the cure serious wounds potion and partakes!

Then he uses a wand.

Davo pulls a kerchief and wraps it around his mouth and nose.

His voice muffled. "Lets see if we can get a sample and then find some prisoners."

Knowledge check to find a sample of the mineral? If necessary I'll call in Habbelgash to get a sample himself using his alchemy check.

Marduk scoffs at the gnome's warning but still makes an effort to avoid touching the potentially dangerous material.

"These ogres were weak. What a disappointment."

The gnomish professor carefully rigs up a lever arm out of a spoon, a feather, and a copy of "Delicious Diphthongs".
