"Camping outside is great, as we see the Empress climb her way into the sky each dawnm, being outside gives us an unrivaled view... but let us move to the next campsite"

![]() |

"Do not worry, ladies and sparkle elves," Meatbeat states, putting his armour/clothes back on and giving a little flex. "Master Dwarf can see in dark, so he will see Anna."

GM Tektite |

The party continues down the trail for a couple of hours and eventually comes upon a suitable spot to make a campsite. The sun is about thirty minutes from setting when the party begins to make camping preparations.
Let me know if your going to have a fire and if your setting a watch, who and what time periods.

![]() |

I vote fire. If we make it a 10-hour night, we can each take 2-hour shifts. Arcane spellcasters I think are the only ones who need uninterrupted sleep.
So I'm good for any watch.

![]() |

"I will sleep all night until Anna is back." Meatbeat props himself against the base of a tree.
Just wake Meatbeat up when you want him to go on watch. Those who adventured with him before know he's easily cajoled by fancy named that he understands.

The party manages to collect enough firewood to keep a fire burning the entire night. After everyone has eaten, the party agrees to Takahiro's suggestion of watch order and the ones not on watch, bed down for the evening. Asuna and Danyn start the first watch and it passes uneventfully. The evening is quiet except for the animals of the night and Meatbeat's loud snoring. Danyn entertains himself by holding the dwarfs nostrils closed until the dwarf unconsciously gasps for air. Soon Asuna wakes Takahiro to his watch and the night passes thus. In the darkest part of the night, while Meatbeat and Kassi are on watch, suddenly the is a dark form that appears like an apparition on the south side of the campsite. The form pounces and attacks Zorlax in his sleep, before the two sentries even know that it is there.

And no armor for me. Or shield. Hmph.
AC 12
Danyn stands and casts Light on the fire pit to see what's going on.
Or, if there's plenty of light from the fire, draws his dagger.

Meatbeat steps up to the creature, drawing a small barrel of liquid as he steps. He then gets angry and tries to push the creature away!

He then drinks, to help fight off the tiredness of being mad!

![]() |

"What is going on? What is all that noise?"
Asuna mumbles as she lazily stands up and rubs her eyes. Taking a look around her and finally seeing the threat she picks up her scythe and prepares to fight.

GM Tektite |

Meatbeat reacts to the cat attacking Zorlax, by breaking into a sprint and slamming the cat backwards. His stocky dwarven legs pumping, he knocks the cat back some twenty feet,
Asuna, roused by the noise, stands and finds her scythe.
Danyn, roused by the noise, stands and brings more light to bear on the situation.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 6) + 3 = 12
Since Meatbeat pushed the cat back, I guess there's no more AoO for standing up right?

GM Tektite |

Zorlax manages to stand and ready his weapon for another attack.
The creature looks toward the dwarf that just knocked it back and you all see the skin peel away from it's face, revealing the skull and musculature. At the same time, it opens it's mouth and let out an ear piercing scream.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Fun note with Dwarven Barbarians: Since I'm raging, I have a +2 morale against fear. Additionally, if this was a spell-like or supernatural ability, I'd have another +2 racial on the save. (Not that I think it mattered here.) Just wanted to get that out.
Meatbeat watches the creature's face, staggering around after pushing it away. "Aah! Time to die, gross Tien cat!"

EDIT: Oh, man. Too bad I'm staggered from last round and can't draw on the charge like I did in the original post. Sorry if I messed up any in-writing posts.

"So this is the cat that ate that deer huh? Hope you don't mind me hitting your Anna, meatbeat!" as Zorlax charges in with the intention of slashing the cat in two.
Zorlax will move next to the cat, attempting a melee attack.

ugh...I told you an inn was safer. I told the PFS that teleportation was quicker but no... Here I have to trek through the mud and get attacked by cats. Sigh.

GM Tektite |

Meatbeat charges the black cat, smashing into it with his helmet. The cat lets out a yowl, heavily wounded.
Danyn steps forward, dagger in hand, ready to be of assistance.
Asuna delays, holding her scythe.
Zorlax retaliates with his sword and puts down the creature that interrupted his sleep.
Out of Combat
As the big cat breathes it's last, the party hears the sound of hoof beats. Urdel Thunderhoof, living up to his namesake, thunders into the campsite, churning up the turf as he skids to a halt. He studies the scene before talking. Well done, you have bested the foul beast. He looks at Kassi holding the spear. Ahh, I see my spear was of use, you may keep it for the service you have done my tribe. He reaches around and removes a bound parcel of furs, tossing them on the ground. Take these as well, though I ask for the corpse of the beast in exchange. It is all I have to offer, but will aid you in the mountains. It gets dangerously cold up in the highest peaks. He turns, gathers up the corpse of the big cat and starts to canter off into the brush. Fare thee well and safe travels!

Takahiro, only just having fought his way heroically from the clutches of his sleeping bag, looks around slightly confused. He simply walks over and smacks a healing hand upon Zorlax, then returns to grapple once more with his bedroll.

GM Tektite |

The rest of the evening passes uneventfully. The party rises the next morning and continues north on their journey. Not long after starting, the path begins to trend upward into the foothills and by evening, the group has made into the mountain pass. The wind has become blustery and there is a stinging chill to it. In the fading light of day, the party spies a covered wagon, half-buried in the snow.

![]() |

Asuna will be donning what I assume to be cold weather garb as soon as we hit the high altitudes.
"It looks like some travelers have come upon some hard times."
She comments while curiously making her way towards the wagon.

![]() |

"Perhaps these furs from the horsemen will keep us warm?"Takahiro offers hopefully and cheerfully.
Noting the strange wagon, Takahiro moves forward to inspect, sword at hand.

![]() |

He reaches around and removes a bound parcel of furs, tossing them on the ground.
I put that OOC statement there to see if that is what those furs were. I probably should have been more clear on that, sorry. If that is not what they are, then I do not have cold weather garb, just some centaur-donated furs to kind of keep warm.

![]() |

Meatbeat drinks a little bit more than normal to help stave off the cold (since cold weather gear is for suckers; that's what beards are for) and approaches the cart, as well.

![]() |

Kassi accepts them with a surprised smile, Why thank you mistress Asuna
I really have to rebuild her before my level up. I want her to be a support character but I feel as if the most I can do is inspire. Perhaps a Cloistered Cleric/Sensei Monk, has anyone had an luck with this combination?

![]() |

Yeah. Cloistered Cleric is a hellscape of wasted-potential-for-flavor I can't really recommend. Losing a domain AND a spell-per-spell-level is awful. Multiclassing seems like it would make that even worse. The abilities you get for losing those also barely come up (at 9th level, they've come up ONCE, but I miss that spell-per-level every day. I'd reccomend sticking with bard; Inspire never loses it's luster, and you can back up your bros with spells like Timely Inspiration and Saving Finale (both first level spells.)
"I am disappoint. Wanted to see cat-fight." He takes a swig of ale. "But not like fight with cat, Anna we fight yesterday." He shakes around his cask, trying to bring his point to the forefront of his words.

![]() |

Bards are not bad at all, they are just not combat beasts. Inspire buffs the party, the skills will be great for RP or Faction missions. Their spells can be used as buffs as well, or tuned to removing humanoids from fights. They are also like other arcane casters, they take awhile to ramp up.

![]() |

Yeah just stick with Bard, and if you are really worried about it just refine your bard build a little... have you had a read of a good Bard Guide? Maybe this might help - it sounds to me like you might want to have a look at the Combat Bard suggestions. Cloistered+sensei just leaves me cold to be honest.
"No need for watches now, only lunchtime. Check wagon, maybe trouble"

![]() |

Danyn moves up towards the wagon and in a deliberate and alarming gesture thrusts his head forward and opens his eyes comically wide.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

GM Tektite |

Asuna easily manages to fashion the furs into a passable covering to protect from the cold.
Danyn and Meatbeat examine the wagon. Near the wagon the two find three frozen corpses of men, who obviously succumbed to the cold. The wagon is large to hold five people and contains a small woodstove. Though the wagon in no longer road worthy, the is enough firewood and wood from the wagon to allow for a fire throughout the night.
No need for watches now, only lunchtime. Check wagon, maybe trouble.
Actually it is the end of the day and evening is coming up quickly
