Silas Silvermane |
Silas will move to where Nigel pointed and will look and sniff around.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Tilver Arnholm |
Tilver goes over to the area again and keep looking for anything unusual. "I'm telling you, there's nothing here!"
Perception +16
Nigel VanWagnen |
**sigh**
"Stop using your eyes and use your brain." Nigel says as he walks over to the NE corner with Tilver and Silas.
He then methodically starts rapping him staff on the wall, starting S and moving N along the eastern wall.
"It's an illusion so we have to focus on not seeing what we see."
Nigel VanWagnen |
Nigel gives a smirk to the gladiator and litorian before stepping through the wall into the chamber beyond.
Tilver Arnholm |
"What the..." Tilver looks back at Silas. "You saw me touch that wall, right?" He shakes his head and tries to follow Nigel.
Silas Silvermane |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
Silas shrugs and says, "To be honest, I don't pay to much attention while your doing your thing." He then follows the others through the illusion.
Silas Silvermane |
Silas readies his blade and waits for the others to open it.
Nigel VanWagnen |
Nigel waits patiently for the others to pass the illusion.
Hope everyone doesn't mind me moving peoples into the corridor on the map.
Tilver Arnholm |
Tilver checks the new door, trying to look like he's ignoring whatever Silas is doing.
Perception +16; if it's untrapped, he'll open it.
GM Tarondor |
The door opens with a click. Beyond is a large chamber painted in painfully garish colors so bright you'd almost think they were luminous.
Four people await you within, ready for mayhem.
The first is a male human wearing grey robes with an iron breastplate bearing the symbol of a coiled asp, ready to strike. His mace looks like a serpent’s head, similar to that on his chest.
The second is a dark elf woman, regal-looking and beautiful. She wears a long red cape and has a charcoal-grey skin tone.
The third is a a weasel-faced human male in a green hooded robe.
The fourth is a hideously deformed Harrow elf who wears a hooded maroon robe and silver bracers.
"Intruders!" shouts the first man.
"Unbelievers!" shouts the third.
"Suffer," whispers the woman.

GM Tarondor |
Tilver steps up and trips the beautiful drow woman who curses him as she falls. "Slime! You will scream for my forgiveness as the flesh is removed from your bones!"
The weasel-faced man fires his pistol at Tilver, grazing his shoulder then steps up and stabs with his shortsword, though Tilver manages to deflect this.

Nigel raises both arms, staff in one hand, and slowly brings them together. He then lowers them sharply and utters something sinister sounding. An inky blackness bursts forth from the tip of his staff and swirls forward and around the four people inside.
◆◆ Fear - DC26 Will save vs Fear Heightened to 3rd
He watches his magic take hold and studies the caster with the staff, waiting for a spell to be cast.
◆ Recall Knowledge on the caster, please. Arcana +18, Nature +10, Occultism +14, Religion +14, Society +14
TLDR; I can auto identify anything on the Arcane list level 6 or lower. I get a secret check to determine if I Crit and get save/AC bonuses. I can use my reaction to counter the spell, if I don't have it prepared, I will use Dispel Magic from my staff to Counteract (+16).
Trigger A creature Casts a Spell that you have prepared.
When a foe Casts a Spell and you can see its manifestations, you can use your own magic to disrupt it. You expend a prepared spell to counter the triggering creature’s casting of that same spell. You lose your spell slot as if you had cast the triggering spell. You then attempt to counteract the triggering spell (page 458).
------------------------------
Quick Recognition
Prerequisites master in Arcana, Nature, Occultism, or Religion; Recognize Spell
You Recognize Spells swiftly. Once per round, you can Recognize a Spell using a skill in which you’re a master as a free action.
------------------------------
Recognize Spell
Prerequisites trained in Arcana, Nature, Occultism, or Religion
Trigger A creature within line of sight casts a spell that you don’t have prepared or in your spell repertoire, or a trap or similar object casts such a spell. You must be aware of the casting.
If you are trained in the appropriate skill for the spell’s tradition and it’s a common spell of 2nd level or lower, you automatically identify it (you still roll to attempt to get a critical success, but can’t get a worse result than success). The highest level of spell you automatically identify increases to 4 if you’re an expert, 6 if you’re a master, and 10 if you’re legendary. The GM rolls a secret Arcana, Nature, Occultism, or Religion check, whichever corresponds to the tradition of the spell being cast. If you’re not trained in the skill, you can’t get a result better than failure.
Critical Success You correctly recognize the spell and gain a +1 circumstance bonus to your saving throw or your AC against it.
Success You correctly recognize the spell.
Failure You fail to recognize the spell.
Critical Failure You misidentify the spell as another spell entirely, of the GM’s choice.
Silas Silvermane |
Silas rages and moves to suddenly charges the one that looks like a caster.
Rage x1, Sudden Charge x2. I move along the wall and around the red one in such away. That I am never adjacent to him in case he has some weird trickery. Then Sudden Charge lets me make an attack on Purple after I take two move actions.

The strange defenders of this place (Chaos Priests, they call themselves) reel back from Nigel's terrifying words, all save the drow woman, who blows him a kiss.
The man with the staff (PURPLE) (whom I previously failed to point is blurred slightly at the edges, making him hard to see with details)(who is not yet confronted with an angry litorian), casts a spell. Nigel has no trouble whatever identifying it as fire erupts around him and his friends.
"Burn with the fires of creation!" he yells.

Everyone give me a DC 26 Reflex save vs. the Fireball.
If you are Chaotic, you can ignore the Divine Wrath. If you are Lawful, give me a basic Fortitude save. If you are neither Lawful nor Chaotic, give me a basic Fortitude save, but your degree of success is one higher.
Silas: As I said above, it wasn't your turn. It is your turn now and I will apply the above actions. But you have a movement of 25'. So two moves while also avoiding coming within 5' of RED means you can't get to the point you've indicated, since that would take 60' of movement. I've moved Silas 10' north, where you can still attack Vocaetun. However, your attack will be a miss if you have the Sickness condition from Divine Wrath.

GM Tarondor |

Fair enough. The DC for both checks should be 25, not 26.
Also, since they invoked the Galchutt, I'm going to assume they're members of the Pactlords and thus targets of Tilver's active investigation.
That is an unwarranted assumption. Lots of groups worship Chaos.

Unable to maintain his composure as the chaos continues to wreak havok in his logical brain, Nigel straightens for a moment for casting a hand out toward Silas.
