An explanation and an apology are both needed and overdue.
Recently, I've begun to feel out of phase with all PbP RPGs that I've been playing, either as a GM or a player. If any of you were in my games, you know that I've entered a hiatus of undefined length, thinking it was GM burnout. Apparently, it was not only that. Despite my life stabilizing in a new routine as I started my PhD, something has changed in my mind, and playing has become to feel more and more as a chore and less of a pleasure. It's not the stories, the GMs or the other players, I've been enjoying immensely the games until now: I think I've just saturated myself with PbP, with reading and reacting, and with the engagement every day. I've tried to soldier on, hoping it was just a phase, but in the end I can't force myself to play against my will.
I honestly don't know if and when I'll be coming back. For now, I leave Colcille to you. Someone can bot her for a while, or she can leave for the forest. Ah, Wymond, you should know that she has something of a crush on you.
If/when I feel more like the player I was, I hope that you'll be here to come back to, but if it doesn't happen I'd like you to know that it's been a pleasure to play with you all.

You'll be missed, Colcille. I know what that kind of burnout feels like, and you're doing the right thing. When the game stops feeling fun, trying to make it fun only makes it worse. If/when you're feeling more into it, we'll be here! :)

I'm Mirko and soon will have pulled this cleric out of my head and onto electrons for Tarondor's review. This is my first time playing in a PbP game but have GM'd and played for a several years now (PF1e/2e, 5e, WoD/VtM). I'm excited to begin and look forward to exploring the mysteries of Echo Wood.
If the party has any recommendations or requests for my character (mechanically), I'm more than happy to tweak a bit as I finalize things. Going for a plain jane Cleric at the moment.

I'll be honest, the position in our party that seems to have the revolving door is the one with mad skillz.
Wymond's the bruiser with a side of healing, Perfire's our magic man, and Lilika's been healing/slinging stuff. As long as your cleric's handy with Disable Device, I'll be happy!

The hotel's going to be NUTS for the next two weeks, specifically the WEEKENDS TO REMEMBER!!!
It's a retreat set up by a bunch of churches across the country to send couples for a weekend of marriage-counseling and stuff at our hotel. Apparently they liked us so much LAST year that this year they're doing it TWICE!

Also, I'm just botting for other characters right meow, but totally enjoying this style of play. It's nice to be able to think about things without going off the cuff at the table. Definitely a different appeal.

And no, I don't mind at all if botting me involves using limited use abilities or items, as long as it makes sense (which this totally did). Unfortunately, I'm long since out of acid darts and spells for the day (this information on my status bar above my character portrait, I have 0/6 left remaining. This is also where I track my current HP, and often referenced modifiers the GM might need, like my AC, saving throws, initiative, and any conditions or buffs I'm currently suffering from). @GM: Is it alright if I cross off two of her vials of acid used for those last those acid darts thrown?

Apologies for my absence. The pollen count here in Virginia has been kicking my butt. And yesterday I couldn't log in.

Speaking of, today was my last day at work until April 1st. Fortunately my company has promised to pay all staff through the shut down, which I was really stressing because their sick leave package normally is less than stellar. I'm up near Seattle and work with Special Needs adults in a day program so we have to take it seriously.
Ah, I see. My aunt's got a similar program she's in. We're cancelling our planned October trip to Florida with her to celebrate her birthday because we don't want to risk compromising her already fragile health, considering we had a few scares that put her in the hospital even BEFORE this whole thing got started.

If this is a thing, I'm going to have serious problems working in tech...
It honestly doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. So...it's an AI in the future? That makes AI copies of people who didn't help make it and tortures them for not helping make it fast enough? If what's being tortured is only a digital copy of me, how does that impact me, especially when I'd probably be dead by the time such an AI is made?

If you know about the AI, then you have to contribute to it's rise or else be plagued with tech problems until you contribute to it.

Yeah, I honestly think I could ONLY serve to hinder the creation of this AI if I put in an earnest effort to create it. My comouter stpped working when I tried to clean it with air and get my headset mic working.
