a thorough check of the room with senses and magic reveals nothing more of interest in the secret room.

Lolito moves forward finding another doorway.

This domed chamber has multiple exits and large niches in its northeast and northwest sides. Three openings in the south wall lead to a ruined and submerged courtyard, and a staircase on the north side of the chamber leads down to a larger chamber.

Derym quickly casts a spell while drifting forward, the blade in his hand cursing him mentally for not rushing the foes immediately.

Leaving the black one for the Undine, Lolito barrels through the battlefield towards the largest group of enemies, attacking the blue one with a defensive kick that bursts into electricity!

Not having a swim speed was really limiting Kragg's movement. He was forced to wait till Alyn moved out of his way before he could move into the room. Once that happened then Kragg could push off the ground stepping forward to get within spear reach of the skum.

Derym makes mirror copies of himself and moves forward. The black skum takes a bite at him

Derym uses his blade to block the attack, and in doing so stabs into the neck of the creature doing massive damage. the bite does destroy one of the mirror images though (5 remain)

Lolito swims forward and releases an elementally-infused kick that does lots of damage to the second skum

Alyn and Trick finish off the skum that Lolito had injured.

the skum move to attack. The one holding a spear looks to be a little different than the others. he swims over to attack Lolito. He stabs from quite far away, his arms stretching much further than they should have been able to.

Derym has darkvision. Interestingly, Antipatharian does not. I guess fighting in the dark is the only way Derym doesn't have a back-seat combatant.

Also, because it matters - what type of water are we in? Just wondering if Derym's Hydrated Vitality would apply and be healing him?

Just making sure you have Kragg's damage on black? It looks like you have Derym's damage but not the other 17.

Even in the darkness Kragg is able to see the skum before him. Thanking Abadar and his dwarven ancestors for darkvision Kragg continues poking at the skum in black.

Derym and Kragg work together to finish off Black, and Kragg pushes forward into the room. unfortunately as he moves forward he steps on a trap, some coral spines set up where they would be tripped on by an unwary creature.
Reflex Kragg: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
unfortunately due to his large size Kragg is not able to avoid the spines as easily as he might have as a smaller creature.
Kragg is now bleeding, and will take 3d6 damage on the start of his turn
bleed damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3) = 11

Lolito moves towards red, provoking an attack from the green one with the long spear.

the monk dodges at the right moment and the spear misses wide.

Alyn moves up to attack, but Black is already dead
as a note, you cannot take a 5-foot step while underwater without a swim speed. is something giving you a swim speed atm? since black died already, you can retcon your action in your next post to move against a different enemy and make an attack.

Even though he is likely to heal the skum Kragg needs to stop the bleeding and heal some of his companions. Brithmark flashing brightly in the water everyone can feel the radiant glow warming their bodies as wounds mend.

Lolito is surprised by the spear attacks, and one of them goes through his dragon stance, he blurbs as he tries to shout to relieve the pain, only to see his wound partially patched by Kragg's blessings.

Having learned from experience, the Apsu faithful tumbles through the water while he walks in the sea ground in his approach this time.

Have not seen any particular penalty to tumbling on water other than halving the speed twice (50/2 for water => 25/2 for tumbling = 10 feet)

Hmm, I would have thought the grapple would have had to risk grabbing an image, but I guess it's not technically an attack

yeah, it's not super clear, but because it doesn't require an attack roll I have usually played it as not being effected by things like mirror image or blur. mirror image looks like it is less unanimous than what I have found in the past about blur, but a similar reasoning imo. when a creature is reaching out to grab you they could more easily feel if they met resistance or not, and a grapple is a slower more methodical action than an attack (hence the AoO if they don't have improved feats).

Kragg heals the group, also healing the one injured skum. Lolito attacks that skum again, hurting him for a little more than he was healed.

Derym attempts to grease himself. please make a concentration check to cast while grappled, unless you have something that makes that unnecessary

because the green one has extra long reach (15 feet), and is able to step in the water due to a swim speed, he is keeping enough distance that Alyn is not able to get full round attacks each round. sorry for the additional retconning but in the end, Alyn moves up last round, hits green once for 17. green steps back, misses Alyn. This round alyn and trick both move in and each make one attack, alyn misses and Trick hits for 17 more damage.

Lara's magic turns the tide in the fight. with their enhanced speed and accuracy Lolito and Kragg kill the two lesser skum.

Alyn recalls a fighting technique to deal with an enemy with superior reach and he strikes a blow against the more maneuverable skum.

Injured and seeing his companions fall, the remaining skum retreats. he withdraws from the reach of Alyn's spear and swims north to the stairwell leading down.

Assuming the map is accurate, Derym's non-hasted swim speed is more than enough to close -- given the speed difference, I was wondering any possibility of getting "in front" of him and cutting him off? Or would it require 'tumbling' through his square?

Thanks to Lara's haste spell Kragg was able to move up 15 ft in the water by pushing off the ground. Once in position he was then able to thrust forward his spear at the last of the skum.

Derym, yes if you have enough distance you could swim past him and land in front of him on the stairs, since while swimming you could go over top of him. he'll get an AoO, but he would get that anyways with his long reach.

Kragg, do you have 20 ft of reach right now? I was thinking it was 15, but i could be missing something.

Lolito checks some of the downed skum for valuables. most of them have mundane leather armor and weapons, but the one that was fleeing has some more interesting stuff

all fairly simple items, not going to slow things down with identify checks for basic +1 stuff

Kragg heals Alyn with a spell, then uses his domain powers to move quicker through the water on foot. he is able to move to the bottom of the stairs.

The rest of the group moves forward, finding themselves in a large circular room

This otherwise round chamber has rectangular alcoves at even intervals, forming a shape reminiscent of a gear. At the center of the chamber stands a grandiose, four-foot high altar shaped like an eye with two cogwheel halves forming the eyelids. Two ten-foot-tall metal rods, each tipped with a silver-hued torus, stand on round platforms on either side of the altar.

While the nap looks like there is electricity running through the middle of the room, that is not actually there, and doesn't have any effect here. but that is where the metal rods described above are

Waiting for you are 6 more skum. two have crossbows, three have longspears.

behind them, the sixth skum is massive, easily the largest skum you have ever seen. It is carrying a large repeating crossbow.

They have clearly heard you coming, or heard the fight in the room above and are ready for you.

Derym quickly casts a spell before launching himself forward, his natural affinity for the water boosted by the lingering magic of the haste spell. He quickly darts past a spear-skum before the creature can react, and lashes out with the black blade in his hand, delivering a most unpleasant shock.

Spellstrike (Hasted): 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 12 + 1 = 17 Wow, ok. Yay haste!
for Shocking Grasp: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 3, 1) = 19 Plus Weapon (Arcane Strike): 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 +2 if it's still within a minute of activating Black Blade Strike during the last encounter

This action is premised on the spear-guys not having an ability that means he's not flat-footed before taking an action in combat so that they can't get an AoO and poke Derym as he moved (and is now inside his reach). Though, if I'm wrong, that's what mirror image is for...
