Hastur the Ineffable |

'Aldous' cracks his knuckles, sending out a small blast of flame, before unleashing his full fury upon the hound!
Claw #1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 1 Fire damage.
Claw #2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 5 Fire damage.
Claw #3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 3 Fire damage.
Claw #4: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 6 Fire damage.

Wren the FeatherMage |

Round 1, Init 15
Wren squawks loudly as the troll and trolldog attack.
"Plumie! Stay safe!"
Wren will draw her wand of Acid Arrow, 5' step to get a clearer shot, (I assume that I can get a shot off without cover penalty, but likely in combat), and activate the wand at the troll.
1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 4 = 13 touch attack;
2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 acid damage.

The bite seems unable to sever the head of Galadan - but you see blood red tusks as the troll casts away the lifeless body of the elf.
I lost track of HP for Galadan. My assumption is - he is unconscious but not dead. Andrea wanted to be ready to cast healing - that should be okay to keep him alive if my math was wrong.
Oops - Galadan - is your constitution truly 8. That explains the low HP. Anyhow - the ruling above stands. But Andrea needs to heal enough to get you above -8. You had some rounds of healing +2 that I doubted had been in your profile.

Hastur the Ineffable |

Ouch... If Galadan's status is correct (and there is a decent chance it is, since he was reduced to 6hp earlier, and then had a few rounds of judgement healing), he was on 14hp before that full attack, so he is comprehensively dead - the two claws dropped him to -4, and then the bite outright killed him :-/
'Aldous' blanches as Galadan is comprehensively eviscerated.
"Galadan! No!"
He then channels his anguish into rage, and tears into the troll.
Claw #1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 1 Fire damage.
Claw #2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 3 Fire damage.
Claw #3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 4 Fire damage.
Claw #4: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 4 Fire damage.

Anyone feel free to open the spoiler or not.
Galadan
You slowly walk through a lanscape of bones as you approach a t-junction in the road. A scarab beetle waits for you down one path, a dead whippoorwill is lying in the other direction.
You try to step forward - but both directions a barred to you as time seems to stand still.
A voice appears in your head
You know that I had big hopes for you. You have wandered far into my realm. Your next step will decide if it was too far or not.
But at this stage it is out if your control which path you take. Only your friends still have the power to push you down into one direction.
Soon you will learn what they decided for you. If they pushed you down to the left or the right.

Galadan Teresthin |

"I do not fear death, my lady. For I know that all things must be recycled. Death gives way to life. And life again to death. I am saddened that I was unable to fulfill my obligations, but we shall see if my friends are willing to turn the tide."
I was wondering if I should have whacked myself a few times with the happy stick. Guess I should have :) I was trying to keep that for incorporeal undead.
The trolls claws come from out of nowhere, just as the trolldog falls. Galadan turns to block with his mace, but he is too late, as the claws leave deep gashes in his armor and flesh. He is stunned momentarily, the pain wracking his body. Then he falls unconscious, bleeding profusely from the wounds. The troll's teeth snap around his neck, nearly severing his head, and Galadan's limp body falls to the ground.

Wren the FeatherMage |

8 con! What kind of elf are you!? Oh...a regular elf. :)
Wren covers Plume's eyes as the troll rends Galadan.
There is no way he survived that. Wow. I hope that doesn't happen to me.
Second (and final) round acid damage on Troll: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Wren grits her yellow teeth and fires again at the troll.
1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 4 = 16 touch to hit;
2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 Acid damage.
Wren steps back 10'.
Wand of Acid Arrow: 18 charges left.

Andrea places her hex on Galadan while his body hasn't even hit the ground yet. Alas - he still falls to the ground. No movement visible - his body badly mutilated.
The Scarab Beetle starts moving - leading you down one of the two path.
"You know that following the beetle means that you will now serve me for eternity. He will guide you where you are needed most and where I'm not allowed to intervene.
You can be glad that you have such good friends."

Hastur hits the troll badly. The sneer on his face for taking out Galadan disappears - replaced by rage.
Kevin tries to use all his might - but it seems a more aimed swing would have hit the target.
Target: Kevin 1, Hastur 2 1d2 ⇒ 2
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 Damage 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 Damage 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
But the troll is either afraid of Hastur - or his strengths is already leaving him. All attacks fall woefully short.
I wouldn't even hit Galadan a single time with these rolls.

Hastur the Ineffable |

Completely incensed by what the Troll dared to do to Galadan, 'Aldous' attempts to rend it limb from limb.
Claw #1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 4 Fire damage.
Claw #2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 2 Fire damage.
Claw #3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 5 Fire damage.
Claw #4: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Magical S/B damage, +1d6 ⇒ 4 Fire damage.

Wren the FeatherMage |

Wren watches to see if the final round of her acid damage takes out the troll.
2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 acid
Wren delays.
In theory, between Mr. Hastur and Wren's acid damage, the troll should be acidic toast.

Wren the FeatherMage |

Wren rushes over to Galadan and tries to help put the pieces of elf back together.
"Galadan! GALADAN! Don't you dare go to the Lost Isle yet! We are not done here. GALADAN!"

Galadan Teresthin |

The world around him was less a tunnel now and more a gray blur of stone and air. A bright light still shone on him from somewhere ahead, but he could not reach it. He looked over at the scarab, his guide, which lifted its wings briefly, as though to communicate something that way. Galadan turned back toward the light. He would have to wait. Perhaps not long. A muffled voice breached the darkness, as the sound of a voice attempting to penetrate several feet of water.
Galadan lies limply (if not still) on the rocks beneath them. His wounds no longer bled, as the pool of blood beneath his body was no longer growing outward. Still, his body was primarily unresponsive, except to the commands of gravity.

Wren the FeatherMage |

Wren will continue to put parts together with other parts of Galadan.
1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12 Heal Check
"Come back you birdy bastard!" Wren's frustration and anger shows on her face and in her language.

Galadan Teresthin |

With her somewhat more organized than normal senses, Wren notices that Galadan's chest is still moving with breath, albeit shallow - nearly imperceptibly, and that most of his heavy wounds had been healed.
Galadan is unconscious, but stable. At -3 hitpoints, thanks to Andrea's quick healing work. Was wondering when one of you would make a heal check... :P We thought it would be more realistic if you thought I was dead - battle blindness.

![]() |

"Is there something moving, or is it just my tears. You know I'm not a healer. Andrea - can you confirm it. It would be so nice. But the damage. He still looks dead to me. But only partial. I mean if you understand what I'm saying. "
And I thought it needs a DC 15 heal check RAW ... Just my version of what Wren truly knows in character. But I guess poor Galadan doesn't want to be left for dead. Look how he was waiting for someone to post a heal check.

Wren the FeatherMage |

"DangblastitGaladangetup!" Wren chitters as she turns to Andrea. "Can't you heal him? We have a wand right? I think I put his spleen in the right section of the body...just below the left knee joint..."
Wren chitters with worry.

Galadan Teresthin |

After a sharp intake of breath, Galadan opens his eyes.
"That was... an interesting experience. And I doubt that I shall be pursuing it again for some time." His voice is deadpan and unusually flat.
"Mistress Wren, Mistress Andrea, you have my thanks."
Galadan checks over his mithril chains, hoping that the armor is not damaged.

Wren the FeatherMage |

"OH! You're less dead than I thought! What a...uhm...wonderful surprise..." Wren's voice seems confused.
"Well, let's get you better." Wren turns to Andrea. "Would you mind?"
While Andrea heals Galadan, Wren looks at the manor house.
"Are we sure we want to go in there? Who is to say that Stitches is even there?"
Wren turns to Kevin. "Are you sure?"

Kevin Darlok |

Kevin looks shocked that Galadin gets to his feet. "You Sir, should be dead. I have seen men die from far less wounds than you just recovered from."
He steps back and looks at Wren and shakes his head. "I have no idea what just happened. I don't think Stitches is here though. No way is he friendly with these monsters and we have not witnessed a path of destruction leading into the castle. Maybe we beat him here. I do not know.
The Swordlord reaches for his flask but pauses, then walks away from the others. He stands between his companions and the keep, watching.

Galadan Teresthin |

"Perhaps these trolls were besieging the castle. We have no way of knowing what or who is still within the walls. I would be interested in knowing why we encountered these creatures here. And I think that the only one who may have an answer to that conundrum would be the master of this castle."

Wren the FeatherMage |

Wren gathers up their possessions and prepares to move on again.
"Let's go, on. We don't find our answers out here. Let's get in there," Wren points to the manor house across the way.
Wren will follow the rest on in.

![]() |

Let me know your plans - feel free to take action. There isn't much for me to do here. Well - maybe something ....
And don't wait for Andrea. I did meet GM Wellard yesterday at Dragonmeet. He got lucky that I was able to give him the last seat on my table when he arrives very, very, late. I don't expect him back too early today.
You manage to inspect the bridge and get a closer look. There is no railing on the bridge and the drop down looks like very deep. The golem dog seems impassive - but he seems alert of whatever you do.
He starts dnarling the moment the first of you gets close to the half way of the bridge.
There seem to be some minor resemblances that temind you of Stiches in the way the hound I'd stiched together.

Galadan Teresthin |

Galadan attempts to reason with the creature, but he stays back.
"We are here to meet your master, and intend neither you nor your master any harm."
He looks at Aldous with a pointed glance, then back at the golem dog.
Detect to see what alignment the golem dog is.

Wren the FeatherMage |

Wren takes a moment to prepare another casting of Create Pit.
"One second...if I remember correctly, some magics will have a hard time against this creation."
Wren stows her traveling spellbook and her wand and also draws an alchemist's fire.
"I do wish Stitches were here to help us bypass this beast."

Galadan Teresthin |

Galadan again ponders the conundrum. He turns to the golem dog again.
"Perhaps you know of a large flesh golem humanoid, one called the Beast by the local villagers. He claims to have originated here, and asked us to visit him and his father when he was freed by the courts. We labored intensively for his freedom. Can you not bring your master forward? Someone to whom we might introduce ourselves?"

Andrea Greenholt |

What Thod fails to mention is that my late arrival was not my fault..with trains delayed due to track conditions and huge queues at Tube Station Ticket Offices forcing me to take a £20.00 Taxi Ride across London it was lucky I got there as early as I did
Andrea studies the creature..though it looks like a a hound of sorts the reaction from it to Galadans speech seems to indicate that it has a modicum of Intelligence

![]() |

Seems you need someone known to the dog or official to get past.
The trolls seem to have been unable to pass. But either nobody before managed - which leads to the question why the trolls hadn't been thrown out - or someone who did pass by found a way around the hound.
If you don't find a solution, then force might be the only way. But there is a build in one - enough of GM help.

![]() |

See, Stitches must not have came this way."
Either he got defeated by them - but there are no such signs - or he didn't arrive or he avoided a fight.

Wren the FeatherMage |

1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13 Survival (Untrained)
Wren paces back and forth, trying to find solutions.
"We have the rope...that might be useful."
Wren looks at the golemy creature.
"We should just get by it, maybe. I can try to put it in a hole while we go through the door?"
