Dretch 1 claw vs Selindra: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Dretch 1 claw vs Selindra: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Dretch 1 bite vs Selindra: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Dretch 2 stand: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Godwin, an AOO only allows for a melee attack. Vardan, you would get an AOO as well, since the square is one you threaten. Remember to add +4 to your attack for the Dretch being Prone
**************Round 2**************
Init: Creature 1, Fomiel, Selindra, Drakra, Godwin, Creature 2, Vardan
The Dretch recoils from the slash of Radiance and makes feeble attempts at clawing and biting Selindra, but the threat of Radiance keeps the monster at bay.

Godwin Solace |

AOO
Godwin angrily brings his blade down at the foul demon before him.
Flachion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 182d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2) + 3 = 9
Sorry forgot the+4 and the +1 it's a 23 on attack and 10 on damage
If, fueled by unholy vigor, it still stands, Godwin, bleeding, gasps to Vardan Switch with me and I will aid your hammer
Round 2
Godwin steps 5 foot back, hopefully not interfering with Vadran's plans and lays his hands on Vadran's hammer blessing it with Iomedae's holy power.
So 5 foot step back. Standard Action to use a warpriest Holy Strike Blessing on Vadran's hammer.
For 1 minute, this weapon glows green, white, or yellow-gold and deals an additional 1d6 points of damage against evil creatures. During this time, it's treated as good for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction. This additional damage doesn't stack with the additional damage from the holy weapon special ability.

Selindra Shieldsister |

Radiance Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Selindra growls at the creature now realizing what the creature is, and brandishes her blade. She makes another swing, but in trying to hold her more defensive stance, she swings wide of it, and does her best to try and catch herself before it comes about for its next assault.
Fighting Defensive, swing and miss horribly, holding position where she is.

Vardan Argider |

Vardan swings his hammer again at the prone dretch, his lip curling slightly at the look of his foes, There is nothing but ugliness to these things...
Lucerne Hammer (AoO): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 1 = 23 for 1d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11
That looks not bad, especially with -4AC for a prone target.
Round 2
Vardan nods, then says, "Hold. Bless the sword. The hammer is too long for close quarters." With that, he drops the hammer and directs Thorne forward, whispering, "Kill."
The wolf lashes out as Vardan draws his longsword, its attack wild and wide as he lurches forward. The halfling, however, takes advantage of the distraction to land a blow with his sword.
Thorne (Bite): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Nope. No happy wolf tripping.
Longsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Mounted Combat (avoid): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Godwin Solace |

[opc]Will switch the bless to sword. Don't forget the extra 1d6[/ooc]

Drakra Worpltng |

Sorry for the short post, really late here and short on time.
Round 3
From behind a large boulder, Drakra's comments and insults continue to stream forth, bringing a questioning chuckle from even the most devout of Iomedean faithful, which relaxes the fighters allowing their blows to slip under the demon's defenses a little easier and strike a little harder.
Free: Continue Inspire Courage
Delay

Vardan Argider |

I assumed so, but didn't want to presume.
Additional Blessing Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Also, I need to add +1 to hit and damage from inspire courage.

GM Shathira |

As the creature attempts to rise, Vardan smashes his hammer onto the creatures back, and the creature slips back down. The wound, originally looking all but lethal seems to fill back up, almost as it were a balloon inflating again. Still protrusions under the skin, and mottled looking color show that the blow had some effect. Godwin and Vardan then exchange places, with Godwin invoking Iomedae's blessing on Vardan's sword. The blade glows with a golden radiance, and Vardan brings it down on the again prone creature. This time the blade bites with a searing sound as it passes through the Dretch's flesh. The body collapses in on itself as 1000's of bugs escape the corpse, scurrying off into various cracks in the floor and wall.
Selindra holds her ground against the onslaught of the Dretch, managing to avoid the attacks. Her counter goes wide as the Dretch manages to scramble out of Radiance's path.
*************End round 2***********
Dretch 1 11 damage
Dretch 2 Dead
Drakra 20/20
Godwin 10/19
Selindra 24/24
Vardan 20/20

Thorne 24/24

Selindra Shieldsister |

Radiance Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 21d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Selindra tries her best to rally herself, unaccustomed to battling creatures of demonic nature, and its scurrying motion causes her to mis a step, slipping to a knee. It all but foils her attack, and she brings her shield around to bear, in an attempt to defend herself from the creature.
Still defensive..., because dice.

Vardan Argider |

Round 3
Vardan directs Thorne forward and around the corner, "For the Rose!", he says, directing the wolf to pull down the dretch before swinging the now blessed-blade.
Thorne (Bite): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 = 24 for 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
Trip: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 1 = 17
Longsword: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 1 = 25 Threat..
Longsword: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 1 = 26 I'm assuming that's good.
Critical Damage: 2d6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 + 2 = 16 and Blessing: 1d6 ⇒ 2

GM Shathira |

claw vs Selindra: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
claw vs Selindra: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
bite vs Selindra: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
The Creature bears down on Selindra again, but her shield and the threat of Radiance seems to deter the beast, and its attacks are deflected easily.
Vardan wheels Thorne around the corner, and attacks with his blessed longsword. Thorne pulls the dretch off its feet and Vardan brings his sword down across the demon's neck, and with a loud hiss and sizzle of abyssal flesh parting before Iomedae's blessings, the beast's head comes clean of its shoulders, the jaws still making biting motions before it and the body start to bubble like a boiling cauldron, leaving a liquid stain on the ground.
*********Victory!**************
Drakra 20/20
Godwin 10/19
Selindra 24/24
Vardan 20/20
Fomiel 14/14
Thorne 24/24

Selindra Shieldsister |

Selindra sighs as Vardan lays the demon down low. She nods to him, cleaning the blade of Radiance on a cloth. She resheathes the blade and turns to the others.
"Is there any place that we missed before leaving this place? Any place that we have not checked yet? I'd hate to leave behind any more creatures like that for the mongrelmen to have to deal with."

Godwin Solace |

Godwin touches his wound gingerly and shakes his head. Whatever else there may be is ahead of us. Demons under the city... Madness[/b]
Want to retroactively say Godwin has the weapon bless scale also

Vardan Argider |

Vardan wipes the holy blade off, then rides around to reclaim his hammer. "I guess this means we're getting closer to the surface... and where the stones have failed."

Drakra Worpltng |

Bravely looking at the warriors cleaning up from the battle, Drakra moves out from where he was protecting the backside of a pile of rocks.
True. Surface cannot be too far. What will be there, I have no idea. We can only hope the paladins managed to fight off the demon that attacked.

GM Shathira |

Working your way through the maze, the party eventually finds the exit tunnel. It appears to be an old sewer tunnel that extends about 500 ft, and then leads to a ladder which reaches up into a newer tunnel complex. After several more ladders leading up, the party finally finds an exit to the surface.
As the group pushes their way through the sewer exit, they are shocked by what they see. The city is a horrible mockery of what it once was. Deep chasms riddle the city, ripping wounds that at their deepest depths reveal the glowing core, radiating with a hellish red glow. The trail leaving rubble left behind where familiar buildings once stood. Smoke, telling of still burning fires, or smoldering wreckage can be seen towards the city's heart. Most disheartening of all is the once familiar site of the city skyline, where the tower of the Kite, and the Cathedral of St. Clydwell stood stands barren, both buildings seemingly torn down to their foundation. The skies above team with buzzards wheeling about in the red smoke and black clouds. Indeed, it appears as though the Worldwound itself has expanded to envelope the city of Kenabres.

Godwin Solace |

This is... a blashpemy. Godwin says, his understatement showing how deeply unable he is to articulate his feelings. Is there even any safe haven for us to make our way too?
Is the city empty or do they see others?

Selindra Shieldsister |

Selindra emerges after the hike and climb. She struggles, but as promised, she settles Anevia's weight over her body, and makes the final climb, piercing the surface and looking to the sky. Where the sight of buzzards disturbs her, and the smoke, as her eyes fall to what was once the thriving city of Kenebras, her breath catches, and she instinctively squeezes Anevia gently as she throttles the hilt of Radiance in its scabbard.
Gently, she helps Anevia to the ground, and then stares out at the blasted landscape. Not a native of Kenebras, she gasps at the sight of the once great fortress of the Kite, and the Cathedral laid so low, and her terror deepens even more for a moment when she sees the glowing scars across the ground. She falls to a knee, held up by her shield and armor as she looks across the ruined city. "My Goddess..., what have they done..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Goddess mine..., what is this hell...? Save us from this tribulation... Selindra looked across the field in horror, terror starting to grip her. Her vision blurs a moment as she closes her eyes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
She heard a rapping on her shield, something loud enough she shook her head and looked up. She looked into the face of her mentor, Markus.
"Girl, you have the makings of something special. So listen up. When we take tours in the Wound, there will be times when we are behind enemy lines. The Wound is their home. It is their territory. We crusade against them, and invade it when we cross the boundaries. Remember this, as a Paladin and Knight of the Inheritor, our bond and duty is to the safety of our companions. Never forget that. It is better to withhold the killing stroke on an enemy if it means you can preserve the life of a comrade. If you ever have that choice. Your first duty is to protect the innocent and helpless, and then once you see them away, our duty is to purge evil without question or compromise. Girl..., you listening?"
Selindra's mentor rapped his gauntlet on her chest. "Look, I may be an old hand, and am long winded, but there is a reason. This is not a game we are going to play. This is a war that has raged since long before you or I were ever born. Some use it for their own ends, but the battle is fought by people like you and I." He smiles at her, running his mailed hand through her hair. "You are the closest thing to a daughter I have ever had, and I know one day you will do us all proud. Always remember, a strong heart can fight with any weapon. Never forget that."
====================================================================
Selindra shakes her head a moment, clearing her eyes and a look of determination and strength start to take shape in her features. She takes stock of her companions, and their charges, giving them a moment to take in the sight before she speaks.

Vardan Argider |

Vardan scans the horizon, his spirits falling after the rising hopes of fresher air and the surface. He takes a deep breath, absently reaching forward to rub Thorne, seeking some bit of comfort to ground him, Lady, fill me with the smallest measure of your hope... I'm straining to hear your song in all this cacophony.
He sighs and reopens his eyes, feeling something within him, a bittersweet chuckle escaping his lips, "In my youth, when I was so desperate to escape this place, I used to wish that it would fall, so I could be free.... But now, years later, somewhat wiser and carrying the music of the Eternal Rose in my heart..." He shakes his head, "Now, seeing this ugliness, I want nothing more than to defend Kenebras, to seek out what small bits of life and beauty remain within her, and restore her glory..."
He looks over at Godwin and says, "I certainly hope to Shelyn there is... though, I fear that the only solace we find may be what we can make for ourselves.... or, more importantly, for the others we might find."

Drakra Worpltng |

When Drakra steps up into the bright sunlight, he blinks. When his eyes are able to focus, his mouth drops, silent for one of the first times anyone can recall since they all first fell into the crevice.
What . . . where is everything? This cannot be.
He then returns to speechlessness.

Selindra Shieldsister |

Selindra looks about at the landscape and turns to her companions and charges. "It is worse than we could have feared. The Kite and the Cathedral are nothing but foundations, and most of the city is ruined and still burning. Not to mention the chasms that have been opened and glow with a sickening red. My friends, the Worldwound is trying to engulf Kenebras." She hopes her description is enough to give Aravashnial, the only one that cannot see the destruction some idea of its scope.
She turns to the four, and looks at them with a very stoic look. "Friends, Where I must now go, I cannot ask you to follow. I came to serve my tour in the Wound, and I fear now it may be the last thing that I do. I am bound by my word and honor to see this battle through. I cannot ask that you follow me into what feels like certain death."
She turns to Horgus, Anevia and Aravashnial. "My word is my bond. We are inside enemy territory now, and behind enemy lines. But I will do all in my power to see you to your safe havens. All I ask is your indulgence, and patience. We have no idea what we are going to find out here. Know that we will get everyone to safety."
She then stops and thinks a moment, coming over to talk with Aravashnial. She draws Radiance and holds it, then speaks to him quietly.

GM Shathira |

Upon coming up into the light of day, the companions all react in different ways, even though all of them are horrified. All of them overcome their initial shock, and appear to take it in and seem determined to move forward with the group.
Anevia bites back a bit of a sob, and steadies her resolve, before she looks at everyone. "I know that we should all stay together, but I need a favor. Irabeth and I have a small home in the Eastern part of the city. Can you all escort me there to see if I still have a home? she adds more softly, "and to see if there is any word of my wife?"
Horgus listens to this and looks stern, "We had an agreement, I would pay you to see me safely to my home. We should go there first. There you can claim your reward, and the others can stay. My house should be fortified...maybe, and safe...
Aravashnial looks concerned about something, and finally resolves himself turning to where he heard Selindra. "The time for any pretense is done. I am a Riftwarden, and I fear for my fellows. They also present the best chance we have for information on all of this, including that sword, Selindra. We have a hideout at the Blackwing Librarium, secret to most. We should stop there to see if my fellows are there, and see to what kind of resistance we can mount."
Horgus sputters "Resistance?? are you insane? The city is ruined, the demons are making it their stinking hole! We can't...can't..." Horgus actually relents on his tirade a bit, "I knew you were something more than just a crackpot conspiracy nut. If there are any of you left you'll need a place to go."
As you stay there, the words of these companions seem to echo, where they once would have been drowned out by the noise of the streets and people. Now there is almost nothing. Occasionally, though, a scream peals out over the relative quiet, giving you all the sense that the number of survivors has become fewer still. Looking at the rubble strewn streets, the demon's wake is obvious. Burned out buildings are more the norm than the exception now, and often you spot carrion birds tearing at remains.
You are in the SE corner of the city, and the map is up. You are NOT to scale on the map :P

Godwin Solace |

I... I do not remember enough of the city to know which is closest. Anevia if we can we will help lead you to your home but first we need safety and information. Either to Horgus' fortified home or to Aravashinal's library though... we have no knowledge if either of those yet stand.

Selindra Shieldsister |

Selindra nods, hearing them out one at a time.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
After hearing all they have to say, she simply nods. "I swear it, on my heart and life's blood that we will get everyone to safety. Please friends, this is not a time to fighting. There are plenty of cultists and demons to fight with."
She takes a deep breath, looking to her companions then back to their charges. "I have a plan. It most likely is very risky, but right now we have no good choices. Vash's allies, the Riftwardens. If they are as skilled as he is with magic and knowledge, we should secure their safety first. They might be able to help us move through the city undetected much better than we can do on our own. And if I understand correctly, Anevia's wife, Irabeth, is a warrior of skill. Especially if she carried this blade." She pats the hilt of Radiance at her side. "If she is still alive, we could use all the hands we can get. Then, if I may presume upon your graciousness sir, We can temporarily house everyone at your manse, until we can locate a safer haven. Someplace we can relocate everyone that would be more secure. I know that I ask a great deal from you."
She sighs and looks at them. "I know that much of my plan is ifs and maybes. If anyone has any better thoughts, please speak. My concern is that the longer we wait, anyone that might have survived is that much closer to death. And I do not wish to risk losing any valuable allies that can help all our chances to survive this nightmare."

Drakra Worpltng |

Drakra, suddenly coming out of his shock, listens as those rescued make their requests, and demands in the case of Horgus. The diminutive gnome is about to once more speak his mind when Selindra speaks up. Making an unusual decision, Drakra holds his tongue, and instead turns toward Horgus.
I agree with my tall companion. We should see if any other Riftwardens survived, and if not if there is any gear there to help us. I would love to flee this place, but it appears that all avenues of flight are now demon infested. Once we have searched for the secret location, we can proceed to the nearest home, either you or Anevie, especially with the damaged leg.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 <-- aid another
Knowledge(local): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 <-- bardic knowledge
Drakra pauses and looks about the area trying to discern if he can locate any landmarks amongst the ruins.
Actually, I may be mistaken, but I do believe Blackwing is just up the road. Unfortunately it appears that the way to the noble villas may be a little more challenging than before as there appears to be rubble and several of these chasms between here and there.

Vardan Argider |

Vardan nods, "I agree that the strategic approach is best.... despite our hopes as we climbed, we're still clearly behind enemy lines here, and should react accordingly. Hopefully we can find allies and information among the Riftwardens..."
He turns to Anevia and Horgus, "..and, hopefully, we'll be in a better position to seek signs of your wife... and to get you to your home, which may become a stronghold in this chaos."

GM Shathira |

Horgus rolls his eyes, and throws up his arms in exasperated surrender. "Very well, but only because the library is close by."
While Drakra remembers the layout of the city (along with others, namely the NPCs) the streets and buildings are simply not the way you remember. While it wouldn't affect you in combat, moving around the streets as far as travel proves difficult, and as a result, time consuming as you navigate around, or move rubble out of the way. You start to make your way to the Library, with Horgus and Anevia's requests in mind, and also remembering the orders that you received in the Priestess' room. It seems that you have quite a bit of hard travel ahead. The frequent distant, and not so distant screams remind you just how perilous that travel may wind up being.
About 1/2 way to the Library you see a creature that resembles a predator cat (tiger, puma) that is about 12 feet in length. Along its back, tail, and as a mane, purplish-black quills lay thick along the bone pale coat of fur, and milky white eyes look up from the corpse it's eating, and it growls at the group.

Selindra eyes the creature, and as she sees it she immediately sets Anevia to the ground. "Stay here."
She reaches down to her hip, and slowly draws Radiance out of the scabbard, its glowing golden blade glinting off her armor. "Blade, be true this day," she offers as a prayer as she closes on the creature.
She looks at the others. "Godwin, left! Vardan, right!" She points with her blade as she closes to the creature and attempts to deal it a blow.
Radiance attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 151d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Fighting normally for now, with the intent to try and look more threatening and hopefully draw the creatures attention onto her. If this sucker is what I think it is, then this action will be contingent on what it does.
-----------------------------------------------------------
EDIT:
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Selindra sighs at Horgus's protest, but nods her thanks to him, glad to have everyone on their way. She hoists up Anevia on her back, and starts to head out with the group.
She looks back for a moment, a curious look on her face. "You speak very fondly of Irabeth. And you say she is your..., wife?" She speaks the word as if genuinely puzzled. "How..., did you two..., well, how did you..." the normally confident and sure warrior starts to blush, not sure if she can get her question out. She finally rushes it out, "...how did you to meet?"

As he does, the Howler's quills bristle and one of the quills sticks in Godwin's forearm. Godwin feels a wave of agony wash over him as the barbed quill works its way deeper into his arm.
The Howler lets out a grating unearthly howl that washes over the group, and most are able to shrug off the sound. Godwin and Selindra are rocked back a bit. Godwin and Selindra are cursed. -1 wis, save 1/hr, 1 save negates curse It then turns its head towards Godwin and snaps its jaws on Godwin's arm, ravaging the Warpriest's wrist.

EDIT: Since Godwin goes before Selindra, will use War Blessing to add +1 to AC, making her AC 22 for the time being.

Godwin Solace |

Godwin's made of glass. Need to do something about that.
** Round 2 **
The combination of the quill, the roar, and the bite leave Godwin shaken, sickened, and bleeding. From Range. Hit it from range he shouts out with what breath he can muster. He five steps back to allow Selindra to stand between him and the howler and places his hand on her shoulder granting her Iomedae's War Blessing
War Mind (minor): At 1st level, you can touch an ally and grant it a tactical advantage for 1 minute. At the start of its turn each round, it can select one of the following bonuses: +10 feet to base land speed, +1 dodge bonus to AC, +1 insight bonus on attack rolls, or a +1 luck bonus on saving throws. Each bonus selected lasts for 1 round

Vardan Argider |

Round 1
Vardan responds to Selindra's direction, "Done," then directs his faithful companion forward in a charge, bringing up his lance. The weapon bites deep, but the cavalier and wolf allow their momentum to carry them past the strange creature, wheeling around and being ready to strike again.
Lance (Charge): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27 (Threat)

Vardan Argider |

Round 2
Vardan and Thorne spin in place, racing back toward the strange creature, heading for the beast's right flank, as directed.
Lance (Charge): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 (Less good.)

Vardan Argider |

Vardan and Thorne rush forward, his lance rising to strike the terrible beast, aiming for a deep flank strike... When the lance strikes, it bounces off the strange creature's hide and starts to skip to the right.. but before it can skip away harmlessly, Thorne's momentum drives the lance forward, impaling the creature. The lance's tip emerges from the other side of the beast as the gore-covered weapon is ripped from the cavalier's hands as the sudden, limp weight of the creature pulls it to the ground.

Selindra Shieldsister |

Selindra shakes her head, still trying to shrug off the effects of the howler's scream. She then takes a couple of minutes, eyeing the quill and working her fingers around it and to the right place so that she can pull it out.
Take 20 on heal, -1 from howler damage, -2 from quill makes it 22, which is enough to dislodge it.
She then looks around and goes for cover, looking at Godwin. "Brother, I think we had some mail, armor we took from those cultists. I think it might suit better for defense than what I am wearing. Think you could help me change into some?"

Godwin Solace |

A mighty charge Vardan. Godwin says as he leans heavily against his blade. He turns to Selindra.
It would be an honour Shield Sister. If you would help me with removing these Quills first I would be glad to aid you with your armor

Selindra Shieldsister |

Selindra nods, going to help Godwin with removing the quill once the one in her own arm is removed.
Another take 20, unless anything should happen? Then shifting armor. End result in armor change is that she is standing 20 ac, and 22 when fighting defensive before any other buffs.
