Forgot Wisdom Save to get away from wis curse. What's the DC?
Wis Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Selindra Shieldsister |

Selindra nods to the others, working quickly with Godwin's help to change into the more effective and better made armor. She seems rather unconcerned with her modesty, as she is more concerned with having the best protection possible.
Once the quills are removed, and armor changed and the extra armor stowed, she nods to the others. "Ready when you all are. Let's move out."
Selindra takes the point, slipping into her new armor with ease, it seeming to conform to her body much more so than the metal scales and plates of her scale armor she had been wearing.
OOC Notes: Taking 20 twice on heal being a 1 round action puts it at 2 minutes each, removing scale mail takes 1 minute, donning Chainmail with help is 2 minutes.

Vardan Argider |

Vardan nods, riding forward, then pauses, "If everyone's ready.."

Drakra Worpltng |

Looking more than a little concerned, or perhaps it is frightened out of his mind, but with enough comprehension to realize that running at this point is a guaranty of death without his companions, Drakra moves to the center of the group and gazes around.
Yes, lets keep moving. Perhaps we can escape . . er . . find the place.

GM Shathira |

Selindra and Godwin both feel the fear and unease that accompanied the Howler's grating howling subside after the creature's demise. After walking through and around the fallen remains of buildings and torn streets for near another 45 minutes, the group comes up to Blackwing Library...or where the Library should be.
The building now lies in ruins. The only thing remaining standing is the Library's facade, and the great hall. Curiously, the buildings surrounding the library show far less damage than the library. Almost as if something deliberately targeted the library and didn't care much about the other buildings.
The front doors stand open, hanging from the frame by one hinge. As you approach, you hear a rough, male voice barking out orders, "Pile the books faster, b++#~." after which you hear the sharp crack of a hand meeting flesh.

Godwin Solace |

The foul fiends targeted the library and are burning the books as we speak. We need to stop them.

Selindra Shieldsister |

Selindra nods, seeing the door and hearing the strike. Her eyes start to rage, her hand reaching to the hilt of her newly aquired blade. She looks around at the door to the Library, quickly checking to see if there are any other entrances.
Assuming there is only one door...
Selindra nods to Godwin and Vardan and the others. She moves off to the side, once again gently setting Anevia down, so that she can be ready for battle. She looks to Horgus. "Sir, please, stay here with Anevia and Vash."
She then turns looking to the others. "It is possible they have prisoners, given what we just heard. I'll go in first, try and grab their attention. That should give Godwin and Vardan the chance to move in and get positioned. Fomiel and Drakra, while we deal with whatever cultists might be in there, do your best to get to the prisoners and help them get out. Are we agreed?"
Selindra looks to the others, waiting for their response, then turns to Aravashnial. "Vash, it didn't occur to me just now, but I assume you were the one that cause that wind creature to appear when we were underground. Perhaps is there anything you could do to help fortify us against what we are going to face?"

Vardan Argider |

Vardan nods, "Agreed. I'll do my best to get between them and any prisoners... or, for that matter, the books."

Fomiel |

"We will deal with the threats first. Prisoners will be lead safely later. Moving prisoners through combat may not be wise. Splitting forces in a fight is seldom wise. Given the length of the fight against the monrelmen, ending fights fast would be preferred."

Drakra Worpltng |

Drakra looks around worriedly before bravely puffing up his chest:
I will make sure that nobody attacks us from behind. Can't let demon worshippers surround us.
With that, he takes out his well worn crossbow and begins to attempt to insert a bolt with his usual incompetence.

Godwin Solace |

We do not even know what we will find on the other side of the door. Godwin says as he makes his falchion ready We shall go in and see and adjust as need be. He places a hand on Selindra and Vardan's shoulder. May Iomedae be with you both. I will follow you close behind
He also casts Shield of Faith on himself. AC 19 for two minutes
Vadran and Selindra both get War Mind for a minute.
War Mind (minor): At 1st level, you can touch an ally and grant it a tactical advantage for 1 minute. At the start of its turn each round, it can select one of the following bonuses: +10 feet to base land speed, +1 dodge bonus to AC, +1 insight bonus on attack rolls, or a +1 luck bonus on saving throws. Each bonus selected lasts for 1 round.
Let's get going!

GM Shathira |

Aravashnial nods at Selindra "It was me, but I have little magic left, and what little I have left may be the only spells I will ever cast again. I have one spell that can aid you." He pulls out a piece of cured leather and makes some arcane passes over the remnant, and then touches it to Selindra's shoulder. A brief outline of a phantom suit of armor covers Selindra, before it seems to be absorbed into her.
As Selindra comes through the broken doorway she sees a man clad in banded mail that is battle worn and covered in blood. He appears to be bullying a woman dressed in robes, who is carrying a stack of books. In the center of the room are 4 other figures bound hand and foot surrounded by a growing pile of books. To the sides stand two tieflings, watching the spectacle with some amusement. As Selindra watches, the weeping woman stacks more books. The man in armor bellows at the woman, "Faster, or I'll put you in the middle to burn and get one of those other idiots to stack the books.
He then notices the group coming through the door and looks at them with a sneer, "I suppose you're here to rescue them? Typical wannabe heroes. Followers of the b$*%* Iomedae no doubt. Do you know what being a hero gets you? A nice gravestone. I plan on being on the winning side, so leave, and let me to my work, or stay and make additional sacrifices, either way works for me."

Cavalier attack vs Thorne: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

***********Round 1**************
Init: Lib 3,4, Drakra, Cavalier, Lib 1, Godwin, Lib 2, Vardan, Fomiel, Tief 1, Lib 5, Tief 2, Selindra
The cavalier looks at Vardan with contempt, "Come come now little Star, come see me on the field if your b**+! goddess will allow it. I throw the gauntlet at you, and spit on your order. Cavalier's challenge The cavalier sets himself awaiting Vardan.
The female librarian drops the stack of books she was carrying and rushes to the group of librarians tied in the center of the room, and starts to untie one of them.

Selindra Shieldsister |

Priorities: Safety of the Librarians, Eliminating Cavalier, Eliminating Tieflings.
Assuming that Fomiel and Drakra are not going to engage in melee, Selindra is going to make the assumption that Godwin and Vardan are going to close to melee on seperate targets, and as such she will close on whichever target is remaining. However, if one of the enemies closes in and tries to harm the librarians, they will take higher priority. Seeing as how right now eliminating the threat is more important that being defensive as they have smaller numbers, she will fight at full BAB.
Radiance Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 81d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Horribly missing whoever she swings at, but that is her action for the first round, and with chainmail, she is now AC 20.
Selindra growls for a moment under her breath, before slowly and cooly drawing Radiance from her scabbard. She pulls the blade up, kissing its golden blade gently, before looking at the enemy cavalier and pointing the blade directly at him for a brief moment. "Whoever dies here today, you will certainly be among them."
Her eyes are cold fury as she moves into action.

Vardan Argider |

Vardan raises his lance, "Some of us fight for something other than our own pride... and that faith gives us a strength that you'll never know...."
With that, he wheels to the left, racing toward the Tiefling, bringing up his Lucerne Hammer as he does, shouting, "For the Rose!"
Lucerne Hammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 for 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
(Not enough room to charge, sadly)
As the hammer strikes down on the fiend-blooded, he calls, "...and an understanding of tactics."

Drakra Worpltng |

I cannot remember, did we rest and heal after the big fight underground? I am listing only 1 of 10 rounds of Inspire Courage. Pretty sure I only used 1 or 2 rounds in the last fight, so I should have 8 left if we rested.
Seeing things devolve into a melee yet again, Drakna looks for a place to hide as he begins to insult the hideous garb worn by the demon worshippers.
Standard: Begin Inspire Courage

Radiance: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 231d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Selindra lets her anger rage as she draws back Radiance and takes aim at the man's chest. "Not only are you in league with the Abyss, but you spit on the Inheritor's name. For that you will pay!"
After her swing she steals a glance around, noticing that the one tiefling has disappeared, her eyes glowing a soft golden white for a few moments.
Fighting normally, AC 20. Attacking the cav, and she will use her move action to count as 3 rounds for detect evil, scanning to see if she can pick up where the invisible tiefling might be from detection, even though she can't see it with her eyes.

cavalier vs Selindra: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Init: Lib 3,4, Drakra, Lib 1, Godwin, Lib 2, Cavalier, Vardan, Fomiel, Tief 1, Lib 5, Tief 2, Selindra
The librarian moves to free another of her friends.
The Cavalier looks at Selindra, "It seems your coward friend isn't much of a Cavalier, ignoring a challenge? I expect nothing less from underlings. Do you not realize that you are facing the man who felled paladins of Iomedae that demons could not drop? I have faced better foes than you, and who were less wounded. Come now child, let us begin, that I may show your miniature friend who *plays* at being a cavlier what a cavalier truly does." After he says this, he drops to a fighting stance and takes a mighty swing at Selindra which lands with crushing force on her hip.

Selindra Shieldsister |

Will Save vs DC16: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Assuming shaken condition here.
Selindra reels from the blow, her eyes widening as the blow lands home. The combination of his strength and menace bringing the first touch of fear in the lady warrior's eyes.
CLW potion: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Using move action.
Her hands starting to fumble a moment, she grasps at her belt and quickly gulps down the potion she has been holding onto, mixing with her unusual heritage and causing her wounds to mend unnaturally fast, even for a potion.
Though the dread starts to spread in her eyes, she reaches down deep within herself, drawing out her inner fire and gripping Radiance. I will never surrender my companions, nor will I flee from my enemies. My heart is my strength, and my Goddess is my shield. Smite evil, Cavalier as target.
Radiance: 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 2 + 3 = 201d8 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 + 2 = 13
She lets out battle shout, clanging her sword to her shield, as Radiance spouts white golden flame. Her eyes burn the same color, as she draws deeply on her inner strength. "By the same mouth, you curse the gods and curse the good people of Mendev and Kenebras. You intend to destroy both knowledge and life, and seek to pervert those of the faithful. You should care less about your petty grievances and instead make peace with your maker."
Action economy: Move action to down the one potion she has. Swift action declaring smite target on the Cav. Attack normally. Attack is accounting for a state of being shaken, applying -2 for the fear effect. Smite now making her AC against the Cav 23 for the time being.

Drakra Worpltng |

Drakra watches from behind a fallen rock as his new companions suddenly take deep wounds. Realizing that the only way to save his tiny gnomish butt is to help in some manner, he takes out a small piece of what he is pretty sure is butter, although it really is not much more than some greasy substance on the inside of his pouch, and tosses at the cavalier's sword.
Cast Grease on cavalier's sword.
DC14 Reflex or drop the sword

Godwin Solace |

Where are we in initiative order?

GM Shathira |

Yes we are in initiative, but as always, post when you have a chance. I'll sort them out after. I don't want someone to get on the forum, thinking they have to wait, in case they can only get on in a limited time frame. If you're worried that whatever you're going to do is going to be preempted, do what Selindra did, and list contingencies. Selindra has posted three rounds of actions since we started combat. Her last action will take place in round 3. Drakra, and Fomiel have already given their actions, so I just need Vardan and Godwin's, for round 2 and then everyone but Selindra for round 3. Drakra, yes you rested.
tiefling stealth: 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (11) + 35 = 46
cavlier save vs fomiel grease: 1d20 ⇒ 8
cavalier save vs drakra greas: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Godwin Solace |

Round 2
Seeing the braggart Cavalier slip Godwin advances to stand behind Selindra. Thus does evil fall before the grace and glory of The Inhertior as it always will. You chose the wrong side traitor. he places a hand on Selindra's shoulder and heals her a bit more through Iomedae's grace.
Heal Last use of Fervor on Selindra: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Really really wanted to charge the guy and do some damage but Godwin's AC and health are low. Selindra and Vadran you guys still have War Mind for 8 or so more rounds.

Vardan Argider |

Round 2
Vardan calls back over his shoulder, "Oh, don't worry, Sir Selfish.. I'm just working my way there."
With that, he rides down among the shelves, giving his furry friend companion a chance to run, using his grace, while coming back around to engage the cavalier. "The Eternal Rose take you... Or, at least, I will. (Swift action, challenge)
Lucerne Hammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 for 1d10 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11

Selindra Shieldsister |

Selindra and Vadran you guys still have War Mind for 8 or so more rounds.
In that case, Shathira just assume that bonus unless stated otherwise is applied to Selindra's AC. 21 for base ac with WM, 24 with current smite target.

Godwin Solace |

Don't forget the Inspire Courage from Drakra either!

Vardan Argider |

Thanks. War mind to attack, given the reach weapon and a mount who'll attack if the cavalier steps in. I also neglected the inspire courage.
So that would be a 19 to hit and 12 damage.

*********STart round 3*************

Godwin Solace |

Did Selindra's detect evil have any luck pinpointing where the other tiefling went?

Selindra Shieldsister |

ok, with the cav down, and possibly down for the count depending on what he does, I will probably withhold the smite for now, and I can edit my action accordingly.

Godwin Solace |

I'm debating whether to step in and add to the general pile on the cavalier or try and head off the tiefling if it's going to do something bad to the librarians. I think the Cavalier has a lot of HP though.

Vardan Argider |

Vardan watches the cavalier fall, then says, "And, like my faith, my allies also grant me aid," then swings the heavy hammer at the fallen man.
Attack: +4 vs. prone, +1 war mind, +1 inspire courage
Damage: +1 inspire courage, +2 challenge
Lucerne Hammer: 1d20 + 5 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 27 for 1d10 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 15

Godwin Solace |

If Tiefling is detected. Godwin will move towards it and try to swing at it defensively to keep it off the librarians. Otherwise will move around to flank prone cavalier and stab at him defensively as well. Here are those rolls
Defensive Swing with Inspire Courage: 1d20 + 5 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 - 4 + 1 = 16
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7
Add +4 and +2 please if hitting prone flanked cavalier
Miss Chance for tiefling (higher is better): 1d100 ⇒ 20
AC is 21 with shield and defensive

Drakra Worpltng |

Drakra continues insulting the cavalier and the tieflings, referring to them alternatively as being related to grubs (the tieflings) and looking like a grub (the cavalier).
At the same time, he once again haphazardly drops a bolt in the general vicinity of where it should be before aiming and firing the weapon at the now prone cavalier.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 = 3
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
As the party has begun to expect with the gnomes ranged weapon, dodging first is advisable. In this case the bolt flies off at an angle before lodging deeply into the end of a partially tipped over bookcase.

**************Round 3***************
Init: Lib 4, Drakra, Lib 3, Lib 1, Godwin, Lib 2, Cavalier, Vardan, Fomiel, Tief 1, Lib 5, Tief 2, Selindra
Drakra continues his tirade against the Cavalier and friends, and the Cavalier looks over his shoulder at the diminutive rogue, "SHUT UP!! That's not true!" Drakra then fires his wild shot into the bookcase.
The librarian unties another of her friends, who moves away from the melee
Godwin moves to the side of the Cavalier and slice down on the man. Prone, not quite flanked The blade bites into the man's arm.
The cavalier slides his way out of the grease. Taking Vardan's attack as an attack of opportunity instead of his normal attack. Vardan's hammer comes crashing down on the man's thigh as he scurries away. The hammer lands with a sickening crunch. The cavalier grasps at his leg, and slumps over unconscious.
Fomiel comes to stand over the fallen man, brandishing his morningstar.

Radiance, High=Hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 181d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d100 ⇒ 37
Don't know if DE gives her the ability to ignore concealment or not, or reduces it to normal concealment. d100 there just for making the determination
As Selindra sees the one Tiefling fall, and the Cavalier fall, her eyes scan the room as they have been for a few moments, and an inky aura seems to come into view.
Without another word, She raises Radiance high, and rushes to the door. What she is going for, or why she looks like she is trying to hack the door apart though would be anyone's guess.

Vardan Argider |

Vardan whispers, "Thorne. Find the other.", and the wolf raises his head, starting to sniff, trying to locate the Tiefling.
Perception (scent): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Godwin Solace |

Godwin takes the opportunity to double move and and stand where Drakra was to try and intercept who Selindra is going after.
Move to where Drakra was

GM Shathira |

Vardan, Thorne picks up a scent of where the Tiefling was, but can't pinpoint him, nor does he have a clear idea of where the Tiefling went. The Tiefling is further than 30' away, and Thorne isn't trained in Survival. He could try an untrained survival attempt to pick up the trail

Selindra Shieldsister |

Selindra makes it to the door, her glowing golden eyes gaining some red streaks in them. She glares off into what seems nowhere, and then sheathes her golden blade and walks back in.
"Seems the other demon born has fled."
She comes back in and seems to be taking a little time to calm herself. She comes over to help cut loose the remaining librarians. "Are you all alright? Aravashnial was worried about you. We should get everyone to a safe location."

Godwin Solace |

Godwin shakes his head in disgust Which way did the coward flee? It may bring more demon worshiping filth back with it. as he moves to help free the other fighters along with Fomiel.
